John Mervin Lohbauer
John Mervin Lohbauer, 71, of Elgin passed away at Manor Care Center, Arlington Heights, IL on Friday, January 20, 2006. He was born on July 2, 1934 in Elgin and was the son of Mervin Conrad and Lucille (Suring) Lohbauer. John graduated from Elgin High School in 1952, and Purdue University in 1956. He went to Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI in 1957, and served in the U.S. Navy as an Officer until 1960 He was president of M.C. Lohbauer Heating and Air Conditioning until his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, and the Elgin Shrine Club.
Survivors include his son, John of Arkansas; daughter, Jane (Daniel) Carter of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, twins, Grace and Charles Carter of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gerald in infancy.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 5 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 PM until the time of services in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Marjorie M. "Marj" Robinson
Marjorie M. "Marj" Robinson, 84, of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin died Friday, January 20, 2006 surrounded by her family in Union. She was born in Chicago on January 25, 1921. She was the daughter of Robert E. and Grace I. (nee Sawyer) Mather. Marjorie was a 45 year resident of the Carpentersville-Elgin areas. She had many interests which included swimming, bowling and square dancing. Marjorie was a member of the Bachelor and Bachelorette Square Dancing Club, a member, former treasurer and president of the Lake-Ettes and also a member of the Rebekah Lodge #120 of Elgin, She was also a World War II Navy veteran serving as a Pharmacists Mate Second Class. Marjorie enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marjorie is survived by her four children, Barbara (Allen) Majkrzak of Cary, Robert (Patrice) Robinson of Owasso, Oklahoma, Theodore, Jr. (Natalie) Robinson of Union and Patti (Rick) Ahrens of Genoa; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Nicole, David, Shawn, Jaclyn, Kelly, TJ, Stacie, Caitlyn and Shea; and 10 great grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Roberta Jasper of California; her brothers, Daryl (Ruth) Mather of Madison, WI and Robert (Patricia) Mather of Waupaca, WI; a sister-in-law, Ann Mather of Waupaca; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her patents; her husband, Theadore Robinson Sr. on January 26, 1975; her twin brother, Marvin and a brother, Melvin.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Funeral Services and interment will be in Waupaca, WI on Wednesday. 847-426-3436.

Walter H. Stredde
Walter H. Stredde, 71, of South Elgin passed away Saturday, January 21, 2006 in his home. He was born July 6, 1934 in Bridgewater, SD, the son of Fred and Ulinka (Martin) Stredde. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Elgin. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed basketball at Elgin High School. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, and he will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Lois L. (Raymond) Stredde, whom he married on July 12, 1958 in Aurora; son, Douglas (Diane) Stredde of Elgin; daughter, Wendy (Andrew) Michaelsen of Cranston, RI; grandchildren, Ashley and Caitlin Stredde and Rebekka, Hannah and Christian Michaelsen; sisters, Lorinda (Oliver) Felt, Ruth Stredde, Bertha Stredde, Dorothy Wolfe, Ella Gossel, Mary Ann (Mike) Jurgensen and Ulinka Crippen; and nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Carl and Fritz.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in South Elgin cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 PM until 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1111 Van St., Elgin, IL, 60123.

Eddie C. (Addy) Brown
Eddie C. (Addy) Brown, 78, of Elgin, died January 18, 2001.
She was born December 23, 1922 in Tuscumbia, AL, the daughter of Earl and Mamie Steele. She had been a resident of Elgin, most of her life. She was a graduate of Elgin High, Class of 1941, and attended Ellis Business College, before entering her career with the Federal Government where she was employed for 40 years. She was a member of The Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Addy of Elgin; daughter, Deborah McGhee of Aurora; grandchildren, Eric McGhee of Aurora, Sherece McGhee of Milwaukee, Kim Addy of Elgin, Jeremy (Angela) McGhee of Aurora and Aaron McGhee of Aurora; and a great-grandchild; sisters, Earle Smith of Elgin, Helen Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Agnes Knooce of Philadelphia, PA, and Wilene Leach of Washington, D.C.; and brother, Jack (Vivian) Steele.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman A. Brown; sisters, Blanche Allen and Gertrude Stewart; and brother, James H. Steele.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held Monday from 12 Noon until the time of services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Diabetes Association.

Warren Howe
Warren Howe, 79 of McHenry, IL, passed away Friday, January 12, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born August 12, 1921 in Chicago, IL. Employed by the Chicago Junior School for 25 years, active member of Boy Scouts of America, accomplished poet who wrote and published many poems, enjoyed writing stories and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Robert (Doris) Howe, Barbara and Gene, as infants; parents, Chester Bliss and Florence Pearl (nee Gilbreath) Howe; and a nephew, Roger Howe.
Survived by nieces, Barbara (Ken) Schuerr and Nancy (Paul) Renovitch; aunt, Jesse Howe of Evanston; and dear friend of Ed Bellamy of St. Louis, MO.

James W. Keegan, Sr.
James W. Keegan, Sr., 61 of Elgin, passed on Thursday, January 18, 2001 at Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Elgin on September 15, 1939. He was the son of Walter and Arlene (nee Gallagher) Keegan. He was a life long resident of Elgin, a graduate of St. Edward High School and a graduate of Loras College, Dubuque, IA. He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Lynn (Robert) Meissler of Winfield, IL; four sons, James W., Jr. (Isabele) of Roselle, Christopher of Elgin, Michael (Kimberly) of Island Lake and Patrick (Kelly) of Huntley; grandfather of Theresa, James III, Jacqueline, Jonathan, Cassidy and Brenna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy L. Keegan on December 22, 2000; two daughters, Kathleen and Carey; and two brothers, David and Robert.
Family and friends will meet on Monday for funeral mass at 10 AM in the St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin. The Rev. Joseph Kulak, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday in the church from 9 AM until time of Mass. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Jane Shover Easter Seal Center of Elgin. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Longacre
Paul Longacre, 73, of Modesto, Calif. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001.
He was born and raised in Lindsay, Calif., the son of Ray and Esther Longacre.
He served his country as a Sergeant in the Air Force. He met and married his loving wife, Margaret "Sally" in Elgin in 1952. They returned to California to raise a family with success in Fresno and finally came to settle in the growing community of friendly Modesto.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; a son, Steve; a daughter, Jeanne Richards, both of Fresno; two sisters, Rita (Bill) Holston of Clovis, Calif. and Betty (Jim) Fitch of Napa, Calif.; his sister-in-law, Ruth Lowe of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be 3 p.m., Tuesday in the Geneva Presbyterian Church, 1229 E. Fairmont Ave., Modesto, Calif.
FRANKLIN & DOWNS-McHENRY Chapel, Modesto is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, rememberances may be sent to Geneva Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.

Kalevi T. Maenpaa
Kalevi T. Maenpaa, 71 of West Dundee, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Helsinki, Finland on February 21, 1929. He was the son of Tuomas and Hilja (nee Vainionpaa) Maenpaa. He was a 38 year resident of West Dundee. He worked as an Electrical Engineer and retired from General Electric in Oakbrook. He was a HAM Radio operator using the call letters (WB9JEL). He was a member and past treasurer of the Valley Amateur Repeater Association. He was a former member of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service of Kane County. He was a charter member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin. Former member of the church council. Active in Fox Valley Boy Scouting. Former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 69 in West Dundee.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eila Siivonen Maenpaa. They married on November 10, 1951. Three sons, John (Meg) of Carpentersville, Jerry of Massachusetts and Michael of West Dundee; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Lisa, Nicholas, Eila, DJ, Sean, Heather and Dawn; a sister, Eila Poysala of Finland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Tim and Thomas.
Memorial funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at 1 PM in the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin. The Rev. Roger Elliott will officiate. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin or the American Diabetes Association. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Frederick C. Neve Sr.
Frederick C. Neve Sr., age 79, of Elgin, passed away Friday, January 19, 2001 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
He was born December 10, 1921 in Bartlett, the son of Henry and Elsia Knorr Neve. He had been a resident of Elgin most of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School, Class of 1940. He served in the Navy as a Pharmacist mate for 14 years, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He then was employed as a conductor on the Third Rail for 9 years and then Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works for over 25 years before retiring. Member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Elgin. Member of VFW Post 1307 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Slater Neve, whom he married on October 5, 1946; four daughters, L. Sharon (Robert) Maze of Pleasanton, CA, Pamela (Charles) Fairbanks of South Elgin, Susan (Rory) Roth of Poplar Grove, IL and Laurie (Jerry) Rhodes of Geneva, IL; a son, Frederick Charles (Teri) Neve Jr. of Mira Loma, CA; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Schoonhoven of Elgin.
preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Priscilla Behm; and three brothers, Walter, Raymond and George Neve.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:30 PM in Epworth United Methodist Church (corner of Highland and Randall Rd.), Elgin with Dr. Thomas Potenza officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Monday from 12 NOON until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a Hospice program or Epworth United Methodist Church, Elgin.

Bernard P. "Barney" Odeen
Bernard P. "Barney" Odeen, 92, of McHenry and formerly of Wonder Lake, died Friday, January 19, 2001 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
He was born December 22, 1908 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the son of Richard and Regina (Haogensen) Odeen. On January 31, 1931, he married Phyllis Tarelli in Chicago.
Formerly fo Oak Park, Mr. Odeen resided in Wonder Lake from 1955 until 1979. He lived in Elgin for 21 years, before moving to McHenry in 2000.
Mr. Odeen owned and operated a service station in Oak Park for 28 years. He later frove a school bus for District 200 for six years.
While living in Elgin, he had been a member of the Moose Lodge for many years. His enjoyments included music, bowling, gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, two daughers, Karen (David) Massaro of Glen Ellyn and Judy (Robert) Anderson of Wonder Lake; a son-in-law, Vernon Lev of Woodstock; 12 grandchildren; 26 gerat grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Lutzow of Black River Falls, WI and a brother, Vernon of Woostock; and a brother, Merlin Odeen of Montgomery, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved duaghter, Joyce Lev on November 6, 2000.
Visitaton will be from 3 to 7 PM Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home, 7611 Hancock Dr, Wonder Lake, IL.

Roger A. Riebock
Roger A. Riebock, 54, of Elgin passed away Friday evening, January 19, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born August 13, 1946 in Elgin, the son of Floyd and Evelyn Haut Riebock.
He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He was a graduate of Larkin High School Class of 1964. He was a veteran, having served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After being employed by Illinois Bell for 24 years, he and his wife, Roberta, purchased Rog's Town Liquor, which he had operated for the last six years. Roger was a devoted husband and father who volunteered his time and talent in many ways. He was involved with Pop Warner Football League for years, acting as head coach of the Elgin Lightweight Bears for six years. He also participated in the Elgin Continental Little League, where he coached both his son's teams. Roger's generous spirit, fun-loving personality and love of life will be remembered and missed deeply.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta Krogh Riebock, whom he married on June 25, 1977; a daughter, Marisa 20; two sons, Eric 15 and Ben 10 all of Elgin; his parents of Elgin; a sister, Judy (Jerry) Hutson of Elgin; a brother, Ron (Ann) Riebock of Elgin; and his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Miriam Krogh of South Elgin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, at 1 PM in Community United Methodist Church, 400 W. Spring St., South Elgin with Rev. Mary Wise officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Monday in the Laird Funeral Home, Eglin and Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of services in the church.

Thomas O. Skiles
Thomas O. Skiles, 70, of Sleepy Hollow died Friday, January 19, 2001 at his home.
He was born in Springfield on September 30, 1930, the son of Mark and Frances (nee Purvines) Skiles.
He attended Knox College, graduated from Northwestern University, and earned a Masters Degree from Boston University. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He operated Thomas O. Skiles Personnel Consulting, a company whose focus was establishing Employee Assistance Programs. He was affiliated with the Renz Center of Elgin. Tom was a good and faithful friend to many people throughout the Fox Valley.
He is survived by a son, Thomas O., Jr. of St. Louis, MO; a daughter, Susan (Robert Luke) Skiles of Carbondale, Illinois; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Luke; and a sister, Frances (Robert) Doddridge of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Peter; and his long time companion and "Special Friend" Nikki Perry.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 1:30 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
