Rosa D. Carmona, 44, of Rockton, IL died Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood, IL.
She was born August 28, 1957 in Aguada, Puerto Rico to Rufino and Pascuala Hernandez Acevedo.
She was employed as a bakery clerk.
Survivors include her husband, Procopio Carmona, whom she married
on August 2, 1975; her son, Jesse Carmona of Rockton; her daughter, Marisol Carmona of Rockton; brothers, Celestino (Ana) Acevedo, Ovidio (Nancy) Acevedo, Ruperto (Eulogia) Acevedo, Cesar (Gladys) Acevedo and Noel (Maria) Acevedo, all of Elgin, Edwardo (Gladys) Acevedo, Antulio (Tonya) Acevedo, Longino (Alicia) Acevedo and Herminio (Mildred) Acevedo all of Puerto Rico; sisters, Lilian (Efrain) Acevedo, Carmen (Johnny) Acevedo and Elsie (Bernardo) Acevedo, all of Puerto Rico; her mother, Pascuala Acevedo in Puerto Rico. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral Services will be held in Aguada, Puerto Rico with Rev. Jose Luis Basquez officiating. Burial will be in Aguada, Puerto Rico.
Visitation will be on Tuesday evening between 4 and 9 PM at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel.
Memorials in her name may be made to her family.
June Carlson Johnson
June Carlson Johnson, 73, of Elgin died Thursday, January 17, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
She was born October 15, 1928 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of John Victor and Greta Carlson.
She graduated from Knox College with a B.S. degree in Nursing. She was Head Nurse in Pediatrics at Carle Clinic in Urbana, IL while her husband was in Law School, and then taught Clinical Nursing at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL for a year before joining her husband in Anchorage, Alaska while he was in the Army. For a brief period, she was a Payroll Clerk for Elgin Eby Brown. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin where she taught Sunday School briefly, a member of Elgin Junior Service Board and a member of Matheans, JG Chapter of PEO Sisterhood, Current History forum.
Surviving are her husband, Randle E. Johnson, whom she married
on June 14, 1952 in Tabor Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL; a daughter, Karen (Gerald) Johnson-Brask of Portland, Oregon; a son, Karl J. Johnson of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, Michael J. Brask and Ann J. Brask, Kale R. Johnson and Tara L. Johnson; a sister, Vera (Gordon) Lindquist of Rockford, IL; two nieces; three grand nephews; and a grand niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2002 at 1:30 PM in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin with Rev. Paul Hayes officiating. Private burial will be held in Arlington Memorial Park in Rockford. Visitation will be at time of Services.
Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin or to Knox College in Galesburg, IL.
Louise K. Kowert
Louise K. Kowert, 85, of Elgin passed away Saturday, January 19, 2002 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born August 12, 1916.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin. She attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Elgin High School. She was employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. for 27 years and the Illinois Tollway for eight years. She was a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a sister, Marie Smith of Elgin; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters. Louise will be missed by her family and many friends for her wit and love of life.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 8 PM in the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin would be appreciated.

Gordon L. Tourtellott
Gordon L. Tourtellott, 62, of Streamwood passed away Friday, January 18, 2002 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates.
He was born August 29, 1939.
Gordon worked Ramp Service for 25 years with Eastern Airlines and 12 years with School District U-46 before his retirement last year. He was also an avid fisherman and camper.
Beloved husband of Doris (nee Robeson) whom he married
July 21, 1961. Loving father of Gordon Jr. (Kitty), Scott (Donna) and Lance (Karen). Grandfather of Gregory, Kyle, Megan and Ashley. Dear son of Joyce and the late Lynn. Son-in-law of Bernetice and the late Lyle Robeson of Minnesota. Brother of Jerry (Lora Lee) of Iowa, Beverly Fingelsen, Cheryl (Erling) Johnson of Arizona and Penny (Max) Beckner of Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 10 AM in the Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 485 S. Bartlett Road, Streamwood. Cremation will be private.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM Monday, January 21, 2002 at the funeral home.

Hilda Becklinger
Hilda Becklinger, 100, of Belvidere, formerly of Marengo, died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Northwoods Healthcare Center, Belvidere, IL.
She was born on August 12, 1902 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Herman and Matilda Kunde Schimpf.
On August 26, 1925, in Harmony, IL, she married
Roy Becklinger who died on October 23, 1991. Hilda was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and its' Women's Fellowship, the Royal Neighbors of America and the 3-M Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Delores (William) Northrop of Dixon; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Becklinger of Marengo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, William; a brother, Joseph; a sister, Ida Jones; and a great grandson, Chad.
Visitation will be held from 9 AM Thursday, January 23, 2003 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 11821 E. Grant Highway, Hampshire, Illinois, 60140 until time of Service at 11 AM with Pastor David Longstreet and Rev. Dan Hinckley officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. John's United Church of Christ Women's Fellowship.
Wanda L. Bohne
Wanda L. Bohne, 76 of South Elgin passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003 in her home. She was born November 27, 1926 in Canton, Oklahoma the daughter of Charles and Lena Childress Grothe. She had been a resident of South Elgin since 1952. She had been employed by Valley Bank in South Elgin and then the Village of South Elgin in the Water Department before retiring. She and her husband owned the South Elgin Kiddie Park and she was Treasurer of South Elgin Super Wash.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin. She was President of the bi-centennial committee in South Elgin. She was active with her husband in antique car clubs and the Horseless Carriage Club, and the Bentley Drivers Club.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene whom she married
on December 8, 1943; a son, Mark (Sue) Bohne of South Elgin; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Ellen Bohne; a sister, Mary (Dick) Traub of Canon City, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Laurence Catholic Church.
Elizabeth Fetzer
Elizabeth Fetzer, 91, of Glendale, AZ, formerly of South Elgin passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in Arizona. She was born May 31, 1911 in Feketic, Yugoslavia, the daughter of Friedrich and Katharina Weissmann Michel. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth (Martin) Pfeiffer of Peoria, AZ and Katherine (Dennis) Hawkins of Roselle, IL, a son, Michael Fetzer of Elgin, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Fetzer Sr., whom she married
on March 28, 1935, a son, John Fetzer Jr. in 2002 and two grandsons, Joseph Fetzer and Dean Pfeiffer.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Mark Gerth of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Ralph "Corke" Linke
Ralph Erich Linke, 62, of Elgin died Sunday January 19, 2003 at Sherman Hospital surrounded by hi loving family. He was born November 20, 1940 in Chicago, IL, the son of Erich and Mildred Linke. He grew up in Fox River Grove and was a resident of Elgin for 30 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War (USS Wainwright DLG-28). He had been an employee of Compaq Computer Corporation (formerly Digital Equipment Corporation) for 20 years before retiring in June of 2002.
Ralph is survived by a brother, Erwin Linke of Ascension Island, UK; two sons, Robert (Jennie) Linke of St. Charles, Jeremy (Michelle) Linke of Mount Prospect; and a grandson, Connor.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Virgene (Lorenz).
Cork devoted his entire life to raising and spending time with his two sons. He was always giving of his time to family and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin (847-741-1128)
Inurnment will be private in Windridge cemetery, Cary.

Audrey J. McGrath
Audrey J. McGrath, 65, of Elgin, passed away Sunday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born June 8, 1937 in Caledonia, MN and was the daughter of Paul and Lillian Wagner Ranzenberger. She was a Registered Nurse, and had worked at Alderwood Care Center in South Elgin. Audrey loved her work, and enjoyed taking trips to Chicago with her friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
Survivors include two sons, Steve and Paul McGrath of Elgin, grandchild, Christina Schoiber; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William in 1993; her son Daniel in infancy; a sister, Geraldine Huesmann; a brother, Reginald Ranzenberger.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday January 23, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with Rev. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday at the Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
Walter Strohmaier
Walter Strohmaier, 71, of Elgin passed away Saturday, January 18, 2003 in his home. He was born January 24, 1931 in Elgin and was the son of Emil and Rose Strohmaier. He had been a resident of Elgin all his life. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1949. As a young man he was employed in his father's business, Emil's Garage. In 1969 he assumed ownership, which continued until his retirement in 1997. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. for two years during the Korean Conflict.
He was a Gold Card Member and past Commander of the American Legion Post No. 57 of Elgin. Member of the Owls Club and a member of NEBA.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria. They were married
on December 19, 1953. Two daughters, Karen (Jim) Fricke of The Woodlands, TX and Barbara (Steve) Solberg of Carpentersville, IL, three sons, Lawrence (Nan) Strohmaier of Elgin, Ronald (Kristie) Strohmaier of Elgin and Mike (Lori) Strohmaier of Huntley, IL, 15 grandchildren, sister-in-law Gayle Strohmaier of Elgin, special friends Les and Marilou Haworth of Elgin and many other special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elgin Teener Babe Ruth Baseball League at Trout Park in care of the family.
Janalyce J. Warren
Mrs. Janalyce J. Warren, 81, of Cobden died Monday, January 20, 2003 at Union County Hospital in Anna.
She was born June 20, 1921 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John A. and Mina Schulz Jennings.
She married
Alexander Warren January 2, 1943 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death May 4, 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Clyde) Goodman of Cobden and Linda (Kirk) Talbot of Elgin; a brother-in-law, George Delavan of Des Plaines; four grandchildren, Ross, Kevin, Kristin and Jessica Talbot; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden and the Ladies Sodality of the church. She was a volunteer at the Union County Hospital Gift Shop and she was a retired bookkeeper.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, January 23, 2003 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden with Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery in Cobden.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
