Daniel Bernard Gromoske
Daniel Bernard Gromoske, 59, of Elgin passed away Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born February 21, 1941 in Chicago, the son of Daniel and Ludmilla Gromoske.
He is survived by his sister, Juanita Sykora of Glen Ellyn; a son, Nathan Daniel Gromoske of Elgin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends in Elgin.
Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 24, 2001 in the Community Room at 120 State St., Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

James W. Keegan, Sr.
James W. Keegan, Sr., 61 of Elgin, passed on Thursday, January 18, 2001 at Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Elgin on September 15, 1939. He was the son of Walter and Arlene (nee Gallagher) Keegan. He was a life long resident of Elgin, a graduate of St. Edward High School and a graduate of Loras College, Dubuque, IA. He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Lynn (Robert) Meissler of Winfield, IL; four sons, James W., Jr. (Isabele) of Roselle, Christopher of Elgin, Michael (Kimberly) of Island Lake and Patrick (Kelly) of Huntley; grandfather of Theresa, James III, Jacqueline, Jonathan, Cassidy and Brenna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy L. Keegan on December 22, 2000; two daughters, Kathleen and Carey; and two brothers, David and Robert.
Family and friends will meet on Monday for funeral mass at 10 AM in the St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin. The Rev. Joseph Kulak, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday in the church from 9 AM until time of Mass. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Jane Shover Easter Seal Center of Elgin. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Kalevi T. Maenpaa
Kalevi T. Maenpaa, 71 of West Dundee, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Helsinki, Finland on February 21, 1929. He was the son of Tuomas and Hilja (nee Vainionpaa) Maenpaa. He was a 38 year resident of West Dundee. He worked as an Electrical Engineer and retired from General Electric in Oakbrook. He was a HAM Radio operator using the call letters (WB9JEL). He was a member and past treasurer of the Valley Amateur Repeater Association. He was a former member of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service of Kane County. He was a charter member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin. Former member of the church council. Active in Fox Valley Boy Scouting. Former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 69 in West Dundee.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eila Siivonen Maenpaa. They married on November 10, 1951. Three sons, John (Meg) of Carpentersville, Jerry of Massachusetts and Michael of West Dundee; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Lisa, Nicholas, Eila, DJ, Sean, Heather and Dawn; a sister, Eila Poysala of Finland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Tim and Thomas.
Memorial funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at 1 PM in the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin. The Rev. Roger Elliott will officiate. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin or the American Diabetes Association. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Frederick C. Neve Sr.
Frederick C. Neve Sr., age 79, of Elgin, passed away Friday, January 19, 2001 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
He was born December 10, 1921 in Bartlett, the son of Henry and Elsia Knorr Neve. He had been a resident of Elgin most of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School, Class of 1940. He served in the Navy as a Pharmacist mate for 14 years, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He then was employed as a conductor on the Third Rail for 9 years and then Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works for over 25 years before retiring. Member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Elgin. Member of VFW Post 1307 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Slater Neve, whom he married on October 5, 1946; four daughters, L. Sharon (Robert) Maze of Pleasanton, CA, Pamela (Charles) Fairbanks of South Elgin, Susan (Rory) Roth of Poplar Grove, IL and Laurie (Jerry) Rhodes of Geneva, IL; a son, Frederick Charles (Teri) Neve Jr. of Mira Loma, CA; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Schoonhoven of Elgin.
preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Priscilla Behm; and three brothers, Walter, Raymond and George Neve.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12:30 PM in Epworth United Methodist Church (corner of Highland and Randall Rd.), Elgin with Dr. Thomas Potenza officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Monday from 12 NOON until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a Hospice program or Epworth United Methodist Church, Elgin.

Elmer C. Range
Elmer C. Range, 94, of South Elgin, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Jan. 17, 1907 in Elgin, the son of William and Louise Range.
He had been a resident of Elgin until moving to South Elgin in 1959. He was employed by Parkside and Ludwig Dairies and then was employed as a butcher with Grimes Grocery Store, The Itasca Basket and The Bartlett Food Store before retiring. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Schneider Range; a son, Ron (Linda) Range of Elgin; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Range of South Elgin, Pearl Range of Arlington Heights and Marie Range of Elgin; and two nieces,Marilyn Range of South Elgin and Carol Jean (Wes) Landwehr of Elgin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Range; a sister, Vera Kaiser; and three brothers, Raymond, Erwin and Walter Range.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Martin Balzer officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 10 a.m., Saturday until the time of services in the funeral home.

Margaret M. Seisser
Margaret M. Seisser, 82, of Dekalb, formerly of Hampshire, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 at the Dekalb Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 2, 1918 in Genoa, the daughter of James and Katherine (Manser) Andersen.
She was a 1936 graduate of Genoa-Kingston High School and received her teaching degree from Northern Illinois Teachers College. Margaret married Earl W. Seisser on June 17, 1939 in Hampshire and they farmed in the Hampshire-Burlington area for 25 years. Mrs. Seisser was a former teacher at the Bell and Walker County Schools and later as a teacher's aide for Burlington Elementary School. She was a longtime member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Hampshire and the Legion of Mary.
Survivors include two sons, Denis (Gail) Seisser of Elgin and Dean Seisser of Jefferson, Wis.; three daughters, Kay (Bob) Diedrich of Dekalb, Deanne (James) Arfman of Tacoma, Wash. and Mary (Lee) Harville of Naperville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lila Killingsworth of Elk Grove Village; and a brother, LaVerne (Mary) Andersen of Loves Park.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl on May 18, 1985; a brother, Everett Andersen; and a sister, Hazel Engel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 22 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire, the Rev. Thomas E. Brantman officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Borromeo cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m., Sunday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with Rosary at 2:15 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Coletta of Wisconsin, Jefferson, Wis. or to the American Cancer Society.

Maurice E. Awe
Age 64, of DeKalb, IL, and formerly of South Elgin, IL, died on January 18, 2002 in Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, Elgin, IL. Born on June 20, 1937 in Hampshire, IL, he was the son of Milton and Margaret (Weidner) Awe.
Maurice was married to the former Virginia Gaebe on September 10, 1955 in Hampshire, IL. He was an Electrician for B.P. Chemicals of St. Charles retiring in 1992 with 30 years of service. Maurice has been living in DeKalb since 1996 moving here from South Elgin. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School.
Survivors include: wife: Virginia of DeKalb, sons: Timothy (Janet) Awe of Stillman Valley, IL, Brian Awe of DeKalb, David (Sandi) Awe of Davis Junction, IL, grandchildren: Steven Harberts, Kelley Awe, Courtney Awe, Cameron Awe, Brittni Awe, Benjamin Awe, Robert Redman, great-grandchild: Ethan Nathaniel Harberts, brothers and sisters: Lois Schultz, Charles Awe, Howard Awe, Milton (Katy) Awe, Lloyd (Diane) Awe, Raymond Awe, LeRoy Awe, Darlene (Al) Spolar, Connie Awe, and numerous nieces and nephews. preceded in death by: parents, brother: Marvin.
Funeral service will be held on Monday January 21, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Elder Ronald Sheaffer officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday January 21, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. till the time of the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date. Hilda Haak
Hilda Haak, 102, of Bella Vista, AR, formerly of Elgin. died Wednesday, January 16, 2002 in Bella Vista, AR. Born September 25, 1899 in Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Louise Werfelmann Haak. She was actively involved with Lutheran Child Welfare Organization in Addison.
She is survived by a son, Eugene Haak and wife Barbara of Green Valley, AZ; two daughters, Leona Baumgarten of Lees Summit, MO and Ellen Scholten and husband Bill of Bella Vista, AR; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Haak; a son, Werner Haak and also three sisters.
Funeral services Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Bensonville, Rev. Steve Heuser officiating. Burial Chapel Hill Gardens West. Visitation 10:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bella Vista Lutheran Church - World Missions, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715 or to the charity of donor's choice. June Carlson Johnson
June Carlson Johnson, 73, of Elgin died Thursday, January 17, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
She was born October 15, 1928 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of John Victor and Greta Carlson.
She graduated from Knox College with a B.S. degree in Nursing. She was Head Nurse in Pediatrics at Carle Clinic in Urbana, IL while her husband was in Law School, and then taught Clinical Nursing at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL for a year before joining her husband in Anchorage, Alaska while he was in the Army. For a brief period, she was a Payroll Clerk for Elgin Eby Brown. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin where she taught Sunday School briefly, a member of Elgin Junior Service Board and a member of Matheans, JG Chapter of PEO Sisterhood, Current History forum.
Surviving are her husband, Randle E. Johnson, whom she married on June 14, 1952 in Tabor Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL; a daughter, Karen (Gerald) Johnson-Brask of Portland, Oregon; a son, Karl J. Johnson of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, Michael J. Brask and Ann J. Brask, Kale R. Johnson and Tara L. Johnson; a sister, Vera (Gordon) Lindquist of Rockford, IL; two nieces; three grand nephews; and a grand niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2002 at 1:30 PM in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin with Rev. Paul Hayes officiating. Private burial will be held in Arlington Memorial Park in Rockford. Visitation will be at time of Services.
Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin or to Knox College in Galesburg, IL.

Paul A. Lucero
Paul A. Lucero, age 67 of Elgin passed away Monday, January 7, 2002 in San Juan, Puerto Rico while traveling. He was born March 16, 1934 in Ft. Lupton, Colorado the son of Mike and Carrie Maes Lucero. He had been a resident of the Elgin area for the past 26 years. He was employed as a U.S. Probation Officer before retiring. He was a graduate of Regis University in San Francisco and received his M.A. from Loyola University, Chicago.
He was a member of the Christian Science Church of Elgin.
Surviving are a sister; Vivien Joy Garcia of Denver, Colorado; three nieces and his companion; Terry Domschke of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; Marguerite Rowen, brother; Woodrow Carl Lucero.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 2:30P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Janus Theater Co., 1106 Mercury Dr., Schaumburg, IL 60198 or Jointly Maintained Reading Room, 72 W. Adams, Chicago, IL 60603.

Suzanne Ring
Suzanne Ring, age 66, of Elgin, former many year resident of Carpentersville, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at her home. She was born in Chicago on August 16, 1935. Suzanne was a 25 year resident of Carpentersville - Elgin areas. She was a former 20 year employee of Motorola.
She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Baldwin of Elgin; five children, Kay Muser of Florida, Bill (Debra) Muser of Coal City, IL, Carol Ring of Elgin, Karen Ring of Coal City, IL and Cindy Ring of Elgin; four grandchildren, James (Jaymie) Muser, Jennifer Muser, Michael Muser and Melissa Muser.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Baldwin.
There will be no visitation. Services and Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to either the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or the American Cancer Society. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Gordon L. Tourteilott
Gordon L. Tourteilott, 62, of Streamwood passed away Friday, January 18, 2002 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates.
He was born August 29, 1939.
Gordon worked Ramp Service for 25 years with Eastern Airlines and 12 years with School District U-46 before his retirement last year. He was also an avid fisherman and camper.
Beloved husband of Doris (nee Robeson) whom he married July 21, 1961. Loving father of Gordon Jr. (Kitty), Scott (Diane) and Lance (Karen). Grandfather of Gregory, Kyle, Megan and Ashley. Dear son of Joyce and the late Lynn. Son-in-law of Bernetice and the late Lyle of Minnesota. Brother of Jerry (Lora Lee) of Iowa, Beverly Fingelsen, Cheryl (Erling) Johnson of Arizona and Penny (Max) Beckner of Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 10 AM in the Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 485 S. Bartlett Road, Streamwood. Cremation will be private.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM Monday, January 21, 2002 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, 100 W. Palatine Road, # 150, Palatine, IL. For funeral info 630-837-8400.
