Lucille E. Carlson
Lucille E. Carlson, 84, of Elgin passed away Friday, January 17, 2003 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
She was born May 1, 1918 in Adams County, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Mae Winn.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1940. She had been employed by Lee Wards for 15 years before retiring.
Surviving are her husband, George; two daughters, Virginia Warren of Waveland, Miss and Barbara (Tom) Thurnau of Elgin; four grandchildren, Sue Walsh, Karin (Bill) Sheehy, Tobin Warren and Erik Carlson; and a great grandson, Jacob Walsh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John; three sisters; and three brothers.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, January 20, 2003 at 2 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St, Elgin. Burial will be private in Washington Reformed Presbyterian cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 1 PM until time of Services.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or to the charity of your choice.
Elizabeth Fetzer
Elizabeth Fetzer, 91, of Glendale, AZ, formerly of South Elgin passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in Arizona. She was born May 31, 1911 in Feketic, Yugoslavia, the daughter of Friedrich and Katharina Weissmann Michel. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth (Martin) Pfeiffer of Peoria, AZ and Katherine (Dennis) Hawkins of Roselle, IL, a son, Michael Fetzer of Elgin, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Fetzer Sr., whom she married
on March 28, 1935, a son, John Fetzer Jr. in 2002 and two grandsons, Joseph Fetzer and Dean Pfeiffer.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Mark Gerth of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Fred "Freddie" Schuttie
Fred "Freddie" Schuttie, 75, of East Dundee died Friday, January 17, 2003 at Sherman Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Freddie was born in Romania on September 12, 1927, the son of Franz and Maria (nee Prulean) Schuttie. He was a resident of the Dundee area for 50 years, and a former 42 year employee of Haeger Pottery, retiring in 1994. Freddie was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of West Dundee. He served his church as a trustee and also was former chairman of the board of trustees. Freddie was a 38 years member of the Dundee Township Lions Club. He served his club as president for four terms. He as truly dedicated to Lionism and served as District Governor of Lions International District 1J from 1983-84.
Freddie is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years: Rosa "Rosie" (nee Sulzbacher) Schuttie. They married
on February 22, 1947. Two daughters, Monika Schuttie of Bartlett and Hannelore (Dewey) Conley of Hoffman Estates, one granddaughter, Carley (Todd) Domin of Elgin. Freddie was looking forward to becoming a great grandfather in March.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Emil on January 14, 2003.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday at noon in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 pm. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Tuesday in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to either the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lions International or The American Cancer Society.
Walter Strohmaier
Walter Strohmaier, 71, of Elgin passed away Saturday, January 18, 2003 in his home. He was born January 24, 1931 in Elgin and was the son of Emil and Rose Strohmaier. He had been a resident of Elgin all his life. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1949. As a young man he was employed in his father's business, Emil's Garage. In 1969 he assumed ownership, which continued until his retirement in 1997. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. for two years during the Korean Conflict.
He was a Gold Card Member and past Commander of the American Legion Post No. 57 of Elgin. Member of the Owls Club and a member of NEBA.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria. They were married
on December 19, 1953. Two daughters, Karen (Jim) Fricke of The Woodlands, TX and Barbara (Steve) Solberg of Carpentersville, IL, three sons, Lawrence (Nan) Strohmaier of Elgin, Ronald (Kristie) Strohmaier of Elgin and Mike (Lori) Strohmaier of Huntley, IL, 15 grandchildren, sister-in-law Gayle Strohmaier of Elgin, special friends Les and Marilou Haworth of Elgin and many other special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elgin Teener Babe Ruth Baseball League at Trout Park in care of the family.
Judith A. "Judi" Bryant
Judith A. "Judi" Bryant, age 67, of Rockford, formerly of West Dundee, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at The Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. Judi was born on July 2, 1938 in Chicago.
She was a resident of Rockford for the past 4 years. She was a former many year resident of the West Dundee area. She was an employee for TJ Maxx for many years, currently at the Rockford location and formerly the West Dundee location. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Algonquin.
Survivors include her three children, Mary (Michael) Merchut of Rockford, Lori (Vic) Murphy of Cherry Valley and Michael Procanin of Rockford; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Michelle, Melissa, Michael, Tiffany, Nicole, Ryan and Toni; eleven great-grandchildren; her dad, Ted Panos of East Dundee; her sisters, Virginia (Willy) Cerjak of Arizona and Marsha (Bob) Palmer of Belvidere.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. "Pat" Bryant on January 29, 1999; her mother, Florence M. Elke Panos, her father, Marshall R. Walker; a brother, Wayne Walker; and a grandson, Michael Merchut.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006 at noon in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Kathryn Anna Danielson
Kathryn Anna Danielson, 95, of Elgin, IL passed into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Sherman Hospital. She was born September 2, 1910 in Burlington, WI, the daughter of William and Nellie (Mellon) Konst. She lived for much of her childhood and most of her adult life in Lake Geneva, WI. She married
Melvin "Ole" Danielson on September 7, 1931. She was an active member of St. Francis DeSales Church in Lake Geneva and a devoted member of the Girl Scouts of America for most of her life. Her 53 years as a leader and troop organizer made her one of the longest serving Girl Scout leaders in the United States. She spent her final 12 years in Elgin, enjoying her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor (Everett) Babbe of Oxnard, CA; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Danielson of LaGrange Park; her grandchildren, Leanne (Richard) Oleson and Jeffery Danielson of Elgin, Jill (Tom) Fish and Jan (Jerry) Suckut of California; and six great grandchildren, Jeremy, Chelsea, Jacob and Elijah Oleson and Alexander and Nicole Fish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin in 1989; and her son, William in 1971.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 10 AM at St. Frances DeSales Church in Lake Geneva, WI with burial to follow in St. Francis DeSales cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 2 to 4 PM at Madison Funeral Home in Elgin. Memorials may be directed to the Girl Scouts of America in her name.
Gail Margo Knudsen
Gail Margo Knudsen, age 65, died unexpectedly on November 29, 2005 in Glendale, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Stan Hack; and her husband, Bill.
She leaves behind her sister, Gloria; her two nieces, Lorna and Lisa; and great-nephew, LJ; her step-son, Dan (Sue); and her grandson, Sean.
She lived in Carpentersville over 37 years and made lots of friends. She crocheted, made ceramics, bowled in many leagues, was in a card club that met once a month, played Bingo every Thursday night, was a NRA lifetime member and sold Avon.
Her family is having a Memorial Service for her on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Laird's Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., West Dundee, IL from 4-8 PM, 847-836-8770. Private Interment Dundee Township East cemetery. She may have left us too soon, but she will never leave our hearts.
Alyce L. Hunt
Alyce L. Hunt, 83, of Crystal Lake died Friday, January 10, 2003 at her home.
She was born February 6, 1919 in Chicago.
On November 21, 1951, she married
James W. Hunt in South Elgin, IL.
She is survived by her children, Pamela (James) Kinsey of Chula Vista, CA and James (Marlene) Hunt of Algonquin; a step daughter, Marsha (Gary) Williams of Welcome, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a special friend, Duchess.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William Klasen; her second husband, James W. Hunt; a son in infancy; a daughter, Paula G. Witt on March 6, 1999; a grandson, Peter J. Witt; a granddaughter, Tamara Witt; and a brother.
Friends may meet the family for a short visitation from 12:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2003 at Faith Community Church, 9346 Virginia Road, Crystal Lake, IL. There will also be a luncheon at the church following the Memorial Service.
Inurnment will be private for the family.

Wilma I. Krabbe
Wilma I. Krabbe, 90, of Elgin passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born July 17, 1912 in McLeansboro, IL the daughter of Will and Susan Tolley. She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 70 years. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. and Joseph Spiess Dept. Store before retiring.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Sitter of Elgin, a son, Charles (Kay) Krabbe of Elgin, two grandsons, Michael (Sarah) Sitter of Elgin and Andrew Sitter of Elgin and two great grandsons, Ryan Max Sitter and Jackson Edward Sitter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max R. Krabbe on February 23, 1999, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2003 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Peter Boeve' pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
Fred W. Schuhknecht, Jr.
Fred W. Schuhknecht, Jr., 58, of Schaumburg passed away January 16, 2003 after an extended illness. He was born February 13, 1944 in Elgin to Fred and Marylouise Freeman Schuhknecht. He graduated from Elgin High School and worked for Terco for 25 years. He enjoyed flower gardening, photography, working on stereo equipment and his tropical fish.
Survivors include his mother, Marylouise of Genoa, one brother, David of Genoa, formerly of Elgin, one sister, Marie (Estella) of Genoa and his extended family Pam (Duke) Pfeiffer of Schaumburg, a nephew Duquayne and a niece Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Lynn Louise and his grandparents.
Private family services will be held. Burial will take place at Bluff City cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Alexian Brothers Hospital. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home, 847-741-1128.
Charles S. Webb
Charles S. Webb, 86, of Carpentersville died Thursday at his home. He was born in Chicago on July 30, 1916, the son of Charles S. and Martha (nee Drexschmidt) Webb. He was a resident of the Carpentersville area for 48 years, a World War II veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a 32 years employee of the United States Post Office, a majority of that time at the Carpentersville Post Office. Charles was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of West Dundee. He served his congregation as former treasurer and mens club president. Following retirement, Charles enjoyed many things, including building a garage at his home, camping with his family, and playing horse shoes and golf.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Laura D. Waechater Webb. They married
on January 15, 1944. Two daughters, Karen (Luis) Padron of Elgin and Janice (Irwin) Kashmier of Crystal Lake, one son-in-law, Larry (Evie) Lukasik of Crystal Lake, 11 grandchildren, Chad (Gwen) Kashmier, Brian Kashmier, Elizabeth (Mike) Battaglia, Sara, James and John Padron, Aaron and Nathan Lukasik, Matt, Scott and Beth Eyles, one great granddaughter, Isabella Battaglia, one brother, Norman (Naomi) Webb of Crystal Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Barbara Lukasik of January 30, 1982, two brothers, William and Herbert.
Funeral Services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Steven Simon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Crystal Lake Memorial Park cemetery (located on Ridgefield Road) in Crystal Lake. Irma E. (Woods) Dulen
Irma E. (Woods) Dulen, 106, of Elgin, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Sherman West Court. The daughter of John and Clara (Curtis) Woods, she was born in Dubuque, IA on March 21, 1899.
Irma was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin, and a member of the St. Mary's Women's Guild as well as St. Peter's Cathedral Bells.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford Dulen of over 50 years; her sister, Mable Schwab; a brother, Raymond Woods and a grandchild, Larry Bliesener.
Irma is survived by two daughters, Jean (Ernest) Cousins of LaPorte, IN; Eileen Bliesener of Rockford, IL; five grandchildren, Kurt Rehberg of Elgin, Keith Rehberg of Sycamore, IL, Kathy (Mike) Weston of LaPorte, IN, Kevin (Jodi) Rehberg of Carpentersville, IL and Jeanne (Tom) Marquis of Huntley, IL; four great-grandchildren, Angelique (Brendt) Reeser of Aurora, IL, Jeanette Marquis of Huntley, IL, Neil Weston of LaPorte, IN and Carin Weston of LaPorte, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2006, from 1:00 until 4:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 3:00 PM at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division Street, Elgin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 397 Fulton, Elgin, with Father James Canova officiating. Burial will follow at All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Frances Johnson
Frances Johnson, 94, of Elgin, formerly Dundee, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital. She was born on April 29, 1911 in Elgin, the daughter of James P. and Ella Roche. Frances was a retired nurse.
She is survived by a nephew, James (Mary) Wallmuth; three great nieces and a great nephew; five great great nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by two husbands, Dr. Henry Lee Wenner and G.P. Johnson; her parents; and a sister, Marie A. Wallmuth.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM Friday, January 20, 2006 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Illinois Rt. 31 and 72, Dundee, IL, 60118 until time of Mass at 11 AM.
Interment will be in River Valley Memorial Park, Dundee. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, 847-426-3436.
