Joseph F. DeGregorio
Joseph F. DeGregorio, 85, of Algonquin died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Rankin, PA on July 9, 1918 the son of Ralph and Sprenza (nee Galardo) DeGregorio. Mr. DeGregorio was a six year resident of Algonquin and a former 79 year resident of Farrell, PA. He worked at Sharon Steel Corporation for a majority of his life after serving in the United States Army 1st Armored Division for four and a half years during World War II.
He was a life member and Past Commander of VFW Post 5286 in Farrell, PA. Mr. DeGregorio was an avid bowler and bowled in may senior leagues. He was proud of his high game of 289 which he bowled on his 84th birthday.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys M. (nee Danoff) DeGregorio. They married on August 18, 1947. Their children, Ronald of Fargo, ND, Gary (Susan) of Sleepy Hollow, IL and Joyce (William R.) Gronde of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Esposito of Farrell, PA and Rosaria (Thomas) Rinkoski of Gainesville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Anthony DeGenaro and his sister, Antoinette Rossi.
Family and friends will meet for funeral mass on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass in the church.

Patricia A. Campbell
Patricia A. Campbell, 64, of Elburn, formerly of Hanover Park, IL passed away Sunday, February 10, 2002 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born May 11, 1937 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of James and MaryAnne (Boyce) Garland. Patricia had worked for Midland Landscaping Co. in East Dundee for 10 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, loved her family, and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, William Campbell, Sr. of Elburn, whom she married on June 19, 1954; four children, Deborah (Michael) Gallagher of Algonquin, IL, Cynthia (Thomas) Bonner of MO, Kimberly Campbell of West Dundee, IL and William (Constance) Campbell, Jr. of Elgin, IL; six grandchildren, Lisa, David, Michael, Brittany, Daniel and Lacey; also, her brother, James Garland of Chicago, IL.
preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 5:30 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Saturday, starting at 2:00 P.M. until the time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Frederick W. Ermel, Sr.
Frederick W. Ermel, Sr., 68, of Plato Center, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born November 1, 1933 in Starks Station, the son of Louis and Vera (Puffpaff) Ermel. Fred married Lorraine E. Walters on November 7, 1953 in Huntley. He was then drafted into the U.S. Navy serving from 1955 to 1957.
Fred and Lorraine were Plato Center residents for 32 years where he operated Fred's Garage in Plato Center for 20 years. He was appointed Plato Township Road Commissioner in 1987 and served 12 years, retiring in 1999.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; children, Caroline (Frank) Childers of Plato Center and Frederick W., Jr. (Donna) Ermel of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Frankie, Nicky and Angie Childers and Jeremy and Jonathan Ermel; great-grandson, Jacob Childers; three sisters, Phyllis Ewert of Genoa, Julie Mullen of Huntley and Marilyn Thomason of Westfork, AR; three brothers, Louis (Luisa) Ermel of Elgin, Paul (Karen) Ermel of Ransom and Ron (Linda) Ermel of Elgin; also many nieces, nephews and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Susan Marie, and an infant sister, Patty.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, February 18, 2002 at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church (corner of Russell and Muirhead Rds.) in Plato Center with the Rev. Paul Meyers officiating. Burial will be in the Plato Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 P.M. Sunday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and at church prior to services on Monday.
Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 10N452 Muirhead Rd., Plato Center, IL 60170 or to the American Lung Association.

Elroy W. "Elly" Lange
Elroy W. "Elly" Lange, 84, of Elgin, died Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Born March 23, 1917 in Dundee to Charles A. and Anna C. (Nepermann) Lange. He had served in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1942-1946, and was retired from Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works.
He is survived by his wife, Marie M. "Mickie" (Ufland) Lange, whom he married on November 20, 1941; two daughters, Shellie Scott of Branson, MO and Margo (Bob) McIntyre of Cary; grandchildren, Kevin Scott of Geneva, IL, Heather (Colin) Kelley of Tulsa, OK, Brooke, Colin and Rhys McIntyre of Cary; also a great-grandchild, William McKay Scott.
preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elmer, Harold and Carl Lange and his son-in-law, Bill Scott.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 7 P.M. at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Private burial at Dundee Township cemetery East. Visitation on Saturday, February 16, 2002 after 4 P.M. until the time of services at 7 P.M. at the chapel. Please omit flowers. Memorials to the Jayne Shover Easter Seal or to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated.

Jose Carmen Lopez
Jose Carmen Lopez, 67, of Elgin, died February 13, 2002 at Sherman Hospital. Born November 6, 1934 in Mexico, the son of Otilio and Norberta Espinoza Lopez.
He is survived by his children, Juan, Raul, Rafael, Olivia and Benito; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Cruz Lopez and a niece, Luz Mendez.
preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister.
Visitation will be Friday, February 15, 2002 from 5-9 P.M. at Madison Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mexico. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home, (847)741-1128.

Julie Kay Traeger
Julie Kay Traeger, 56, of Elgin, passed away February 12, 2002 at her home. She was born May 4, 1945 in Elgin, the daughter of John and Karen Holmgren Traeger. She graduated from Elgin High School and Attended First united Methodist Church in Elgin. She was a lover of books and was an expert at cross-stitch and needlepoint.
She is survived by her father, John (Katie) of Elgin; two brothers, Steve of NV and Pete (Linda) of St. Charles; also a niece, Samantha.
preceded in death by her mother.

Joseph A. Vandenbrook
Joseph A. Vandenbrook, 98, of St. Charles, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. He was born December 5, 1903 in Norway, Michigan, the son of Frank and Hortense (Smith) Vandenbrook.
He retired as a layout supervisor for Lyons Metal Manufacturing in New Jersey. He enjoyed watching game shows, sports and playing bingo. Joseph had been a resident of the St. Charles Brighton Gardens since June of 1999.
Together with his late wife Martha, they raised their nephew, Donald (Anne) Spriet, now of Greenville, Maine. Mr. Vandenbrook is survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vandenbrook was preceded in death by his wife, Martha E. Spriet Vandenbrook on August 13, 1994; a brother and three sisters.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, February 15, 2002, at St. Patrick Church, 408 Cedar St., St. Charles with Fr. Carl E. Beekman, celebrant. Burial will be in Union cemetery, St. Charles.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles. Following prayers at 11:15 A.M., will proceed to St. Patrick Church for the mass.
Contributions in Mr. Vandenbrook's memory may be made to St. Patrick Church, 408 Cedar Street, St. Charles.

William Granville Fox
William Granville Fox, affectionately known as Bill, died in Hot Springs, AR January 31, 2003. He was born in Watseka, IL November 18, 1916, the youngest child of Clarence W. Fox and Ethel M. Julian. He was a member of the R.O.T.C. both in high school and at Joliet College. Shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Bill enlisted in the military, cutting short his education.
He remained in the army, rising to the rank of Captain, fighting bravely for his nation as a paratrooper in the South Pacific Rim and at New Guinea. He was also stationed in Alaska. He had hoped to make a career out of military life until he was injured in a parachute accident. He was honorably discharged from the military in 1952. He later completed his education at Purdue University.
For most of his business career, Bill was a top-producing life insurance salesman in Aurora and Elgin for companies such as the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, Mutual and United of Omaha, and Interstate Assurance Company of Des Moines, IA.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Garrison Fox, of Hot Springs, and a sister, Mabel Smith of Winnetka, CA. He is also survived by two daughters, Billie Diane Mills and husband, Thomas Menroy Mills, of Rockford, IL; Mary Candace Evans and spouse Walter F. Evans II, of Dallas, TX. He has three grandchildren, William Menroy Mills of Rockford, IL, Walter Francis Evans III and Mary Cassandra Evans of Dallas, and one great grandson, William Thomas Mills, of Rockford, IL.
Always quick with a smile and a joke, Bill warmed the hearts of everyone who met him and was a dutiful and loving father. In lieu of flowers, his family gratefully requests donations to The Humane Society in Bill's honor.

Ralph W. Geier
Ralph W. Geier, 86 of Elgin died Friday February 14, 2003 at the Rosewood Care Center in Elgin. He was born in Barrington, IL on August 28, 1916, the son of Fred & Maude (nee Wolfe) Halverson. He was a life long resident of Barrington and Elgin area. Ralph was a World War II Navy Veteran and had served aboard the USS New Jersey. He was a life member of the Dundee VFW# 2298. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Bernice E. (nee Croonborg). They married on June 23, 1938; a daughter, Linda (Mike) McClellan of Bakersfield, CA, a daughter-in-law; Sharon Geier of Livermore, CA, four grandchildren; Collen (Jeff) Scott of East Dundee, Jason (Kathleen) Kopp of Crystal Lake, Vance (Linda) Geier of Vacaville, CA and Troy (Donna) Geier of Livermore, CA, six Great Grand Children; Kurtis Toppert, Sarah, Colin and Jenna Kopp and Jared and Justin Geier. Ralph was looking forward to the birth of another great grandchild in just a few weeks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Geier; a grandson, Lon Geier; and a Sister, Ruth Bernard.
Funeral Services will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with the Rev. Scott Seidler officating. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Please omit flowers, memorial may be made either to the Alzheimer's Association or The Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Elaine May Hitzeman
Elaine May Hitzeman, age 72, of Elgin, IL passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at her home. She was born July 23, 1930 in Elgin to Arthur and Adele (Kunke) Markwardt. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Dundee, Fox Valley Saddle Association, The Royal Neighbors and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Elaine was best known for her easy going and cheerful personality and her love for horses.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Hitzeman and her daughters, Linda Hitzeman of Owasso, OK and Lisa (Michael) Hofbauer of Poplar Grove, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will take place Sunday, February 16 at 6 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel in Elgin with Rev. Steven Simon of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 16 after 2 p.m. until the services at 6 p.m. Please omit flowers, with memorials in her name to the Elgin Senior Services Center or to her family.

Kenneth LeRoy Huckabone
Kenneth LeRoy Huckabone, 61, of Sharon, South Carolina died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rockhill, SC.
Born October 7, 1941 in Kane, PA to Ernest and Mildred (Asp) Huckabone.
He had served in the U. S. Marines, and had been employed as a Production Manager for Filtration Group in York, SC.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Callahan) Huckabone; his son, Kenneth L. II of Algonquin; his daughters, Sally Hawley of McHenry, Carol Kemper of Albuquerque, NM and Susan Elizabeth Huckabone of Algonquin; his brothers, Ernest Huckabone of Little Genessee, NY, Lonnie Huckabone of Jamestown, NY and Darreyl Huckabone of Buffalo, NY; his sisters, Sandra Loeffler of Carol Stream, IL, Joyce Oknefski of Cape Croirs, FL and Trudie Bundy of Ridgeway, PA; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at 11 AM in the Wait Ross Allanson Algonquin Chapel with Rev. Richard Feyen of the Congregational Church of Algonquin officiating. Burial will be in Algonquin cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 PM on Monday, February 17, 2003 at the chapel.
Memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Burton S. Pearsall
Burton S. Pearsall, 80, of West Dundee passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2003 in his home. He was born April 9, 1922 in Geneva, IL the son of Harold and Miriam Wright Pearsall. He was a graduate of Elgin Academy in 1940 and won the Ora L. Pelton award. He had been a resident of West Dundee for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Marine Corp as an SBD Dauntless pilot in the Philippines and was later recalled during the Korean Conflict to test pilot helicopters and was co-pilot on the first helicopter to land on a ship at sea. He was partner in Helm and Pearsall in Elgin, owner of Pearsall Garden Center in Elgin and then worked for Grass Roots Energy in Hampshire before retiring. He was a member and past president of the Elgin Kiwanis Club. He was a Trustee Emeritus and past president of the Elgin Academy Board of Trustees.
Surviving are his daughter, Beth P. Beckmann of Riverdale, NY, granddaughter, Jennier Beckmann of Riverdale, NY, two sisters, Louise Canby of Hilton Head, S.C. and Anne (Kenneth) Karr of Virginia Beach, VA, one brother, William (Margaret) Pearsall of Greenlawn, NY and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruth Helm Pearsall on February 3, 1982.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of S. Third and Oregon), West Dundee. Burial will be private in Oak Hill cemetery, Geneva. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Elgin Academy.

Phyllis Benson Quinn
Phyllis Benson Quinn, 80, of New York, NY passed away January 30, 2003 at Lennox Hill Hospital in NYC. She was born June 9, 1922, the daughter of Bennie and Bessie Stage Benson. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1940 and was an executive secretary at Elgin American, in New York for Arthur Godfrey and for several real estate executives.
She is survived by cousins, Dan and Bill Stage and Mary Stage, many good friends in New York, Pennsylvania and Elgin. Preceded by her parents, husband, cousin and friend, Ken Stage.
There will be no services. Memorials to the Gail Borden Public Library.

William S. "Bill" Rosenquist
William S. "Bill" Rosenquist, 48, of Elgin passed away Thursday, February 13, 2003 in his home.
He was born September 24, 1954 in Elgin, the son of Kenneth and Mary Lou Jakes Rosenquist.
He was a graduate of Larkin High School. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He was owner of C. E. Jakes Decorating, Inc, in Elgin. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed. He was a member of Painters Local #154, Secretary-Treasurer of the Northern Illinois Painters and Decorators Institute, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Merlak Rosenquist, whom he married on June 7, 1980; sons, Kyle and Brian; mother, Mary Lou Rosenquist of Elgin; sister, Pam (Steve) Jenkins of Elgin; brother, Michael (Dana) Rosenquist of Carpentersville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; and his beloved uncle, Ron Rosenquist.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 7 PM at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held Monday from 3 PM until time of Services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rosenquist Children's Education Fund, C/O Elgin State Bank, Elgin.
