Renee Marie Kimmey (nee Hedon)
Renee Marie Kimmey, nee Hedon, 69, of Almora Heights, Elgin passed away Friday, December 28, 2001 in Sherman, Elgin after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born September 30, 1932 in Verdun, France and had been a resident of Elgin for the past 41 years.
She courageously survived the Nazi bombings and terror during the German occupation of France from 1939 through 1944. She attended a Catholic high school and then spent three years in a vocational school in France to become a professional seamstress. Renee and Jim met in Nancy, France while Jim was serving in the U. S. Air Force. They were married in 1955. Renee worked for Electronic Election Data; building, assembling and distributing voting machines to Kane and DuPage counties. She taught French language for one year at YWCA to young people. She also served as a volunteer translator for the French Embassy at the McCormick Place during International Expositions. She was a loving wife, mother, and a good friend of many who enjoyed her gourmet meals and cuisine. She also enjoyed and spoiled her little Pug dog, Coco.
Surviving are her loving husband or 46 years, James R. Kimmey; daughter, Christine (Matthew) Stephens of West Lafayette, Ind; a son, Ronald Kimmey of Elgin; a sister, Jeannine Zarling of Hanover Park; a brother, Jean Hedon of Verdun, France; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Sheila) Kimmey of Morton, Ill and Michael (Donna) Kimmey of Plano, Ill; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Adrienne Hedon; a son, Robert A. Kimmey in 1999; and her mother- and father-in-law, Frances and Michael Kimmey.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 11 AM in Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Tr., Elgin with Rev. Steven Srock officiating. Burial will be in Little Rock Township cemetery, Plano.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the James R. Kimmey CAD/CAM Scholarship Fund at Elgin Community College.

Benjamin Litt
Benjamin Litt, 85, of Elgin, died Sunday, December 30, 2001 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 14, 1916 to Christopher and Anna Margaret (nee Brick) Litt.
He entered the U.S. Army on January 30, 1942 during World War II where he became a member of the 83rd Infantry Division serving in England, France and Germany and he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal in 1944. He moved to Illinois in the late 1950's and was employed by the Elgin Watch Factory until its closing. He was a machinist working for Simpson Electric in Elgin until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin.
He is survived by his "girls", niece Muffie Corsini and Jan Korotasz, both of South Elgin; his two sisters, Marie (Jack) McKee of Wichita, KS and Kate LeKai of Lincoln, NE; his nieces and nephews, Cory McKee, Tammy VanVusKirk, Alexander "Sandy" LeKai III, Nancy Jervey, Gloria LeKai, Carol Shumaker, John Litt, Jr., Mary Litt, Jeff Corsini and their families. Many "godsons" including Paul Wall, Jr., of Carpentersville, IL and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eileen M. Hintt on November 25, 2000, whom he married on May 20, 1961; two brothers, Henry and Jack Litt; his brother-in-law, Alex LeKai; his sister-in-law, Helen Litt and his wife's parents, Art and Emma Hintt and her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Mike Corsini.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2002 at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel with the Reverend's Thomas O'Connor and Dr. Robert Kasper of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin officiating. Burial will be Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Sheryl Dawn (Mathews) MacArthur
Sheryl Dawn (Mathews) MacArthur, 45, of Marengo, formerly of Oregon, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 in Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock, following a sudden illness.
Born January 23, 1956 in Dixon, the daughter of Richard L. and Geraldine Donaldson Mathews.
Graduate of Oregon High School, Class of 1974 and Rock Valley College as a Certified Dental Assistant. She pursued her career as a dental assistant in Oregon offices and currently os Office Manager in the dental offices of Dr. Sweet in Marengo and Dr. MaKay in Udina together with side tracks into other fields, including construction. Sheryl was a nurturing person who loved flowers, gardening, kids, family and the love of life in general. She had lived in Marengo the past five years.
Survived by her son, Patrick; daughter, Catie; mother, Jerrie Mathews of Oregon; brothers, Greg (Pam) Mathews and Craig (Michelle) Mathews, both of Rockford; special friends, Mary, Sara, Jim and Steve; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 3 in Chana United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Meyers, former Pastor, officiating. Burial in Stillman Valley cemetery.
Visitation Wednesday, 4 to 8 PM in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established as an education fund for Sheryl's children.

Robi-Lynn Poulos
Robi-Lynn Poulos, 58, of Elgin, passed away December 21, 2001 in Elgin. Born in Elgin on June 12, 1943, the daughter of Robert Shimp and Doris Schiele.
Graduated St. Edward High School. Member of St. Mary's Church in Elgin. Member Elgin Realtors. Held insurance license in Las Vegas, NV. Property Manager in several states.
She is survived by her mother, Doris Schiele; a son, John Cornelissen; a daughter, Melissa (John) Held; grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth and Max; also many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Elgin area.
preceded in death by her father, Robert Shimp; stepfather, John Schiele; a brother, Dennis Shimp.
Memorial Mass will be held January 5, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin. Father Edward will officiate. Burial is private.

John Leroy Fulton Beam III
John Leroy Fulton Beam III, 35, of Brazil, IN, died Thursday, December 18, 2003. He was born May 10, 1968, in Elgin, IL.
He was the son of John and LaRue Shirey Beam. He worked as a steel worker at CSI in Tennessee and Great Dane in Brazil. John married Sande Cuel in Brazil, IN on May 12, 1994.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Sande Beam; one son, John; one daughter, Hayley; four sisters, Robin Ostrom and husband Wayne of Streamwood, IL, Gretchen Anderson and husband Bill of Gleason, TN, Jennifer Shirley of Meadville, PA and Amanda Shirey of Avonmore, PA and two brothers, David Shirley and Damion Beam.
Graveside funeral services were held December 22, 2003, at Clearview cemetery. Moore Funeral Home, Brazil, IN, assisted with funeral arrangements.

Shirley J. Lang
Shirley J. Lang, 79, of St. Augustine, FL died December 27, 2003 in Florida. She was born December 27, 1924 and was the daughter of Harold and Emily (Burns) Bradley.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol Ann Nester of St. Augustine, FL, Betty Jane Haynes of St. Augustine, FL, Connie Jean (Donald) Steed of St. Augustine, FL, Jeanne Lynn (Kenneth) Hersey of St. Augustine, FL; one son, Kenneth E. (Christine) Lang, Jr. of South Elgin; one brother, Harold Bradley, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Lang, Sr.; one brother; one sister.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 2, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Bluff City cemetery with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. There will be no visitation.

Donald Eugene McCune, Sr.
Donald Eugene McCune, Sr., 73 of Carpentersville died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born February 4, 1930 in Henddleson Ridge, OH, the son of Joseph and Leota (Hupp) McCune. He started his career as a carpenter at Crock and Shaffer in Ohio. He later joined the Kohler & Sons Construction Co. in Elk Grove Village.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Chicago, where he met and married Carole H. Kohler on May 30, 1953. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 54.
Donald is survived by three daughters, Maureen McCune of Sommerset, WI, Kathleen (James) Purdom of Huntley, IL and Laurene (William) Juns of Hampshire; three sons, Donald (Peggy) McCune, Jr. of Crystal Lake, Joseph McCune and James McCune, both of Carpentersville; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, John (Bonnie) McCune of Macksburg, OH, and Ronald (Wynonna) McCune of Ave, OH; three sisters, June McCune of Dexter City, OH, Nina Leasure of Louisville, OH and Jo Ann (Delmor) Lincicome of Dexter City, OH; one brother-in-law, John (Pat) Kohler of Hampshire; two sisters-in-law, Helen Kohler of Ursa, IL and Joanne Kohler of Livermore, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Carole McCune in 1999; one son, Mark in 1968 and two children in infancy; one brother, James Everett in 1995; and one sister, Betty.
His Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, January 3, at noon at St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL, with Fr. Al Neumann officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 3 from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. Burial will be private.

Robert J. Relihan
Robert J. Relihan, Sr., 84, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born August 13, 1919 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a member of the St. Monica Church and employed by Walgreen Drug Company for over 40 years.
He is survived by his children, Constance (Thomas O'Shea) Relihan of Auburn, Alabama, Robert J., Jr. (Heather) of West Dundee and Joel (Elise) of Norton, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Ann (nee Oberhauser) in 1998; and his brother, Harold.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee to St. Monica Church, Carpentersville for Mass at 9:45 a.m. The Rev. William Schuessler, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township cemetery in East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Idale Ross
Idale Ross, 82, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal Lake. She was born June 18, 1921 in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Mrs. Ross lived most of her life in Old Carpentersville and spent a lot of time following retirement in Marathon, Florida. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Carpentersville. She was a member of the Dundee VFW #2298 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the 50+ Club and the Dundee Township Senior Citizens Organization.
She is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Nancy) Ross and Jack L. (Coralie) Ross, both of Carpentersville; two granddaughters, Debra Anne Ross and Patricia Anton; one step-granddaughter, Lynda Price; two great-grandchildren, Patricia McKendree and Steve Anton.
She was preceded in death by her father, C.R. Hooper; her mother, Hazel Baker Hooper Bruening; her husband of 52 years, Richard E. Ross, who preceded her on November 7, 1992; two grandsons in infancy.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with Rev. Robert J. Tripp offficiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township cemetery East in East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, Carpentersville or the Carpentersville Paramedics.

Les W. Swieca
Les W. Swieca, 58, of Hampshire, IL passed away Sunday in the St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates, IL. He was born May 29, 1945 in Chicago, IL and was the son of Leo and Laurette Swieca.
Les had worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was also a Fire Fighter for the Buffalo Grove and South Elgin Fire Departments.
He was a member of the Illinois Highway Engineers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, whom he married on February 14, 1976; two brothers, Lee Swieca of FL and Larry (Carol) Swieca of Buffalo Grove, IL; two sisters, Linda (Lothar) Brun of Libertyville, IL and Leandra (Joseph) White of Wonder Lake, IL; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin (corner of Highland Ave. and St. Thomas More Dr.), with Rev. Andrew Plesa officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-9:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
