John F. Emrikson, Jr, of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin died Sunday, December 30, 2001.
He is survived by a son, Dave (Patricia); two daughters, Judith (Michael) Ferrara and Kathryn (Jeffrey) Askew; grandfather of four, Julia, J.J., Ashley Askew and Emily Emrikson; two sisters, Mary (Robert) Koch and Linda (Richard) Jovita.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Community Funeral Home located on Rt. 25 between Rt. 72 and Rt. 68, East Dundee. Burial will be in Dundee East cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

Grace L. White
Grace L. White, 77, of Elgin, formerly of Chicago, passed away Monday, December 31, 2001 in her home.
She was born May 14, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Leo and Louise Blaha Betlack.
She had been a resident of Chicago for most of her life and had lived in Elgin for the past nine years. She had been employed at the Board of Elections in Chicago for over 20 years and was employed at American Legion Post 57 as a cashier.
Surviving are two daughters, Corky Lieding of Gurnee and Charlene "Chuckie" Bennett of Elgin; four grandchildren, Terry (John) Hacker of Waukegan, Tammy (Ron) Anderko of Antioch, Larry (Jeaneen) Bennet of Hampshire and Kevin Bennett of Elgin; seven great grandchildren, Georgina, Ronnie, Joey, Nicholas, Christy, Abigail Grace and Maddalena; her Goddaughter, Sharon (Lucky) Angelo of Algonquin; and several other special friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary White; husband, John C. White in 1985; and a brother, William Betlack.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 4, 2002 at 9:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Laurence Catholic Church for Mass at 10 AM with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Bohemian National cemetery, Chicago.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
Idale Ross
Idale Ross, 82, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the Fair Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal Lake. She was born June 18, 1921 in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Mrs. Ross lived most of her life in Old Carpentersville and spent a lot of time following retirement in Marathon, Florida. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Carpentersville. She was a member of the Dundee VFW #2298 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the 50+ Club and the Dundee Township Senior Citizens Organization.
She is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Nancy) Ross and Jack L. (Coralie) Ross, both of Carpentersville; two granddaughters, Debra Anne Ross and Patricia Anton; one step-granddaughter, Lynda Price; two great-grandchildren, Patricia McKendree and Steve Anton.
She was preceded in death by her father, C.R. Hopper; her mother, Hazel Baker Hopper Bruening; her husband of 52 years, Richard E. Ross, who preceded her on November 7, 1992; two grandsons in infancy.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Robert J. Tripp will offficiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township cemetery East in East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, Carpentersville or the Carpentersville Paramedics.
Maryl (Nier) Wells
Memorial services for Maryl (Nier) Wells, 69, will be held Saturday, January 3, at 6 p.m. at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 State St., Elgin.
Maryl was born on October 2, 1934 in Evanston, IL and died Monday, December 22, 2003. She grew up in Chicago and received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Lake Forest College. She taught elementary school for many years in Waukegan, Evanston, and finally Elgin, first at Chicago Junior School, where she also taught music, and then in U-46. She taught first grade at Century Oaks Elementary, Oak Hill, and later Gifford School until she retired in 1994. A patient and loving teacher, Maryl brought a great sense of fun to her work.
She was also a consummate musician who earned her Master's in music from Northwestern University. A lifelong singer, pianist, organist, composer, and arranger, Maryl most recently sang and performed women's barbershop with the Riverside Chorus in Elgin.
Maryl was most active as a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Elgin, where her many activities included: soloist, organist, pianist, First Reader, Second Reader, lecture committee, usher committee, literature distribution, Sunday School teacher, Reading Room librarian and volunteer, music committee, clerk, secretary, and other Board member positions. She also regularly served as chaplain both in a mental health facility and in a Chicago Women's Correctional Center. Always willing to help wherever needed, Maryl gave generously of her time and resources.
After retiring as a teacher, she greatly enjoyed working part-time for the church as Assistant Committee on Publication for the State of Illinois, first in Chicago and later in Wilmette. She also represented her church in the Coalition of Elgin Religious Leaders, specifically helping address issues such as homelessness and hunger. She donated generously to the church as well as to food pantries and other charities. She also volunteered for a time at the Anderson animal shelter in South Elgin and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Salvation Army.
An avid member of ACBL, Maryl became a bronze life master. She was a fun-loving bridge partner to her husband John, and they participated in tournaments around the country.
Maryl was the loving wife of John and the beloved mother of James Nier and Arianne Nier, both of Elgin, and of Daneryl Nier-Weber of Zionsville, IN; beloved mother-in-law of Juergen and loved grandmother to Alex and Nick Weber, also of Zionsville; beloved step-mother and grandmother of Michael, Tina, John-Michael, Dana, and Jessica Wells, of Crystal Lake.
Maryl's loving warmth and bright, giving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the above charities or a charity of one's choice.

Robert J. Biesterfeld
Robert J. Biesterfeld, 88, of Elgin, died on December 31, 2004 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, IL. He had been a resident there since September of 2004. He was the adopted son of August and Emily (Simms) Biesterfeld. Bob was born in Chicago, IL on May 24, 1916 and placed into the St. Vincent's Infant Asylum orphanage. Upon adoption sixteen months later he was brought to Elgin where he was raised and lived his entire life.
Bob graduated from Elgin High School in 1934. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in October of 1942. While stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA he married
Florence Rose Heideman of East Dundee on June 4, 1943. He received a medical discharge in August on 1943 soon after being knocked down by a lightning strike while marching in the rain at Camp Adair, OR. He had worked at the Elgin Watch Factory, Herman's Store for Men in Elgin, Salesman for Fischer Ornamental Iron in River Grove and a Salesman for Fox Valley Fence Co. in South Elgin before retirement in 1978. He was a member of the American Legion, Elgin Post #57 for the past 65 years and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Elgin Lodge #799 for the past 25 years. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, loved dancing and playing cards. He was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas V. Biesterfeld of Colorado Springs, CO, Gary P. Biesterfeld of Elgin, IL; two grandchildren, Jennifer Biesterfeld of Englewood, CO and Jeffrey Biesterfeld of Colorado Springs; a great grandson, Scott Fouss of Englewood, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence in 1969; a good friend, Marine Dunning in 1991; and an uncle, William Simms.
Visitation will be Monday, January 3, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin with funeral mass to be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Fr. Isabelle M. Dalby
Isabelle M. Dalby, 91, of Elgin, formerly of Hampshire and Huntley areas passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born July 28, 1913 in Quincy, the daughter of Christopher and Ella (Cramsey) Brocksieck.
On December 29, 1935 in Cary she married
Aage N. Dalby. Isabelle lived in the Hampshire, Huntley and Elgin areas all of her life and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Wunsch of Pana, IL; a son, Wayne (Nancy Lee) Dalby of St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren, Sherry Scott of Wilmer, AL, Dawn Eckete of Elgin, Debbie Campbell of Aurora, Dean Campbell of Elgin and Doreen Warner of Lake in the Hills; 17 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; a brother, Albert Brocksieck of Mendon, IL; four sisters, Mildred Decker of Mendon, IL, Helen Hale of Augusta, IL, Shirley Durk of Hull, IL and Mary Slagel of Rock Island, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aage on December 30, 1982; two grandsons, Daniel James and Brian John Dalby; one brother, Leroy Brocksieck; two sisters, Francis Wafe and Louise (Barry) Decker.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the James A. O'Connor Funeral home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley, IL. Lorraine Hartmann (nee Heinrich)
Lorraine Hartmann (nee Heinrich), 72, of Bartlett for 48 years passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was born July 22, 1932 in Bensonville, IL and was employed by School District U-46 for 28 years. Lorraine and her late husband, Melvin, belonged to a card club where she played cards with the same group of dear friends every month for nearly 50 years. Lorraine took great pleasure in traveling; with recent trips to Alaska and Hawaii. She led an active life, and was previously a member of two bowling leagues and a golf league. Lorraine was fond of quilting and needlework and also enjoyed an occasional outing to the riverboat casino in Elgin.
Lorraine was a devoted member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schaumburg for 50 years. She was a former Financial Secretary and also served as Chairperson for the celebration of St. John's 150th anniversary. She was faithfully involved with the Service Guild, the Crafters and St. John's Seniors.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin; a brother, Edward; and two sisters, Mamie and Ella.
She is survived by her loving children, Duane (Peggy) of Elgin, Janice (William) Bierer of Hoffman Estates and Bruce of Boca Raton, FL; her cherished grandchildren, Steven, Kelly, Brandon and Kiki; her dear brothers and sisters, Christian (Harriet), Elmer (Grace), Martin (Dolores), William (Phyllis), Leroy (Corrine), Helen (Elmer) Klipp and Elaine (the late Ralph) Plote.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 3 to 8 PM at the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Sterns Rd.), Bartlett.

Laverne Shirley "Nonny" Heneise
A Memorial service for Laverne Shirley "Nonny" Heneise will be at 1 PM Monday, January 3, 2005 at the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church of Elgin with Rev. Steven Shrock officiating. Mrs. Heneise died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Auburn Hills Health & Rehab. She was 77. She was born February 24, 1927 inat Oak Park, IL, the daughter of Reynold L. and Dorothy Rose Lehky. She married
the late Oscar L. Heneise on May 25, 1956 in Elgin, IL. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Mrs. Heneise was a resident of the Mountain Home area since 1992 having moved from Elgin, Illinois. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane White of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a brother, Bruce (Margaret) Lehky of Rochester, New York; three grandchildren, Bethany (Jason) Steger Weaver of Cabot, Arkansas, Justin and Jim Steger of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and two great grandsons. Vera M. Kellermann
Vera M. Kellermann, 94, of Elgin passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. She was born October 20, 1910 in Elgin, the daughter of Albert and Minnie Mutchow Rakow.
She was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Elgin and also a member of the Ladies Aid and Fellowship Society at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Kay (Bruce) Stevenson of Elgin and Marilee (Gerry) Werrbach of South Elgin; four grandchildren, Becky (Bob) Jacobs of AL, Sara (Dan) Sitkie of Wonder Lake, Wendy (Mike) Hartnett of Roselle and Jeff Werrbach of South Elgin; four great grandchildren, Heather and Emily Sitkie and Kelly and Patrick Hartnet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence in 2002; two brothers; and two sisters.

Gordon L. Menz
Gordon L. Menz, 74, of South Elgin, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in the Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, after a year-long battle with oral cancer. He was born on June 7, 1930 in Elgin, and was the son of Carl and Leona Menz. He had worked for the Canteen Corporation for many years prior to his retirement. Gordon was a die hard Cubs fan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, Larry Menz of South Elgin; two granddaughters, Katie and Stephanie Menz; and many family, friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Paul Scarlata; his brother, Jerry Menz.

Esther V. Plummer, 89, of West Dundee passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 in her home. She was born June 28, 1915 in Chicago, the daughter of Emil and Clara (Abraham) Gilson. She was a resident of West Dundee for 52 years.
Survivors include her husband, Delwin Plummer whom she married
on June 8, 1957; daughter, Bonnie (Norb) Piotrowski of Arlington Heights; son, Jim LoPresto of Huntley; grandson, Michael Piotrowski of Chicago; and granddaughter, Ann Marie Piotrowski of Arlington Heights.
