Herbert B. Fellows
Herbert B. Fellows, 76, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 6,2004 in his home.
He was born August 14, 1927 in Elgin, the son of Virgil and Amy Fisk Fellows.
He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1945. He was employed as a union plumber before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin, a lifetime member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 501, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin, the Owls Club, the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, the VFW Post 1307 of Elgin and the Masons Lodge 117 AF & AM of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Davis Fellows whom he married
on December 9, 1944; four children, Patrick (Patricia Lewis) Fellows of Elgin, Sandra (James) Greve of Huntley, Cary (Shari Marsh) Fellows of Spring Grove and Mary (Jeffrey) Childers of Hampshire; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Peabody of Elgin and Carol (Roger) Shear of Yuma, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Fellows; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Fellows; a sister, Audrey Ewert; and two brothers, Edwin Johnson and Eugene Fellows.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 10 at 10 AM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Mike Frantz officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
Jerry C. Hansen
Jerry C. Hansen, 68, of Marengo passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in his home surrounded by his daughters.
He was born March 9, 1935 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Harold and Mabel Hintt Hansen.
He had been a resident of Marengo for over 30 years. He was a self employed General Contractor before retiring.
Surviving are four daughters, Theresa (Earl "Smoke") Maynard of Kirkland, Rebecca (Louis) Ferrante of Kirkland, Julie (Jack) Curry of Marengo and Joanna Hansen of Woodstock; six grandchildren, Jerry, Kelli, Randi, Ashley, Aleena and Taylor; his mother, Mabel Hansen of Elgin; two sisters, Arlene (Robert) Diekman of Indiana and Carol (George) Hipple of Elgin; and two brothers, Harold (Vicki) Hansen of Hampshire and James (Maxine) Hansen of South Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1972; a brother, Robert Hansen; and granddaughter, Jessica.
Funeral Services Friday, January 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
Linda Warner Kagel
Linda Warner Kagel, 55, of Algonquin died Monday, January 5, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on August 18, 1948 in Elgin. She was the daughter of Claude and Pearl (nee Kennedy) Warner. Linda was a many year devoted employee of Wauconda Tool & Engineering. She enjoyed reading, playing golf, and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dale Kagel, whom she married
on September 18, 1971 in West Dundee; her sisters, Judith (Charles) Zange of Algonquin and Anna (Robert) Woertendyke of Lake In The Hills; her brothers, John Warner of Carpentersville, William (Corine) Warner of Algonquin, James (Darlene) Warner of Lake In The Hills, Paul (Deborah) Warner of Carpentersville, and Edward Warner of Crystal Lake; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation Thursday, January 8, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Steven J. Behning Morris
Steven J. Behning Morris, 39, of Longmont, CO died January 4, 2004 at Longmont United Hospital.
Steve was born on May 8, 1964 in Elgin, Illinois to Steven Joseph Behning and June Gritmaker Behning. Adopted at a young age, he was raised by his mother Mabel Bonebrake Morris.
Mr. Morris has moved between the communities of Elgin, Illinois and the Longmont area for a number of years. He most recently moved to Longmont from Elgin this past October.
He graduated from Olde Columbine School in 1982. He has worked in the construction industry in both Illinois and Colorado, operating a siding business for a number of years. He loved working and refurbishing old trucks.
His father preceded Mr. Morris in death.
Mr. Morris is survived by his mothers, Mabel Morris of Longmont and June Behning of Lake in the Hills, IL; a daughter, Jenny Pacheco of Frederick, CO; seven brothers, Billy McBride of Longmont, CO, Ted (Debbie) Morris of El Camino, CA, Jimmy (Kathy) Morris of Loveland, CO, Roy (Gina) Behning, Mark Behning, Matthew Behning and Ryan Behning all of Lake in the Hills, IL; and seven sisters, Cindy (Jess) Ross of Longmont, CO, Sherry (Jim) Sizemore of Frederick, CO, Barbara Morris of Ft. Lupton, CO, Connie Morris, Bonnie (Bernie) Robledo and Pam Schultz, all of Elgin, IL and Jenny (Mario) Fernandez of Carpentersville, IL. Steven is further survived by a grandson, Jeremiah Pacheco of Frederick, CO and his very close cousin, Jack (Cindy) Bonebrake of Elgin, IL; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with David Bradshaw of LifeBridge Christian Church officiating. A cremation has been held at the Howe Mortuary & Crematory.

Ronald M. Palmer
Ronald M. Palmer, of Tuscon, passed away on January 4, 2004 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Rockford, IL on March 19, 1930 and was a resident of Arizona for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Nancy; two sons, Brad of CO and Thom of IL; a stepdaughter, Cathy Neuman Heilig of Tuscon; two stepsons, Paul Neuman of Tuscon and Steven Neuman of FL; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Brittany, Jessica, Stacy, Scott, and Ryan Palmer of IL and Shelley and Lidsey Heilig, Tuscon; a sister, Joann Holthusen of IL and Gerald Palmer of CA.
At the onset of his illness, he and Nancy were employed by National Self Storage as a vacation relief team traveling throughout the Southwest in their RV. He served in the Marines during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 36.
The family would like to thank the TMC Hospice Unit for the wonderful care he received.
At his request, no formal services will be held. A memorial for family and friends will be held at the Rincon Country MHP Clubhouse, 3411 S. Camino Seco on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m.
Catherine Pease
Catherine Pease, 83, of Dundee passed away January 5, 2004 in Dundee. She was born September 14, 1920 in Columbus, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Loring; a daughter, Janice (Kenneth) Revels of Streamwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarine, Elgin. Burial will be private.

Alice E. Strong
Alice E. Strong, 95, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Provena Pineview Care Center, St. Charles. She was born December 7, 1908 in Hampshire, the daughter of John and Amanda Underwager. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life. She had been employed at the Illinois Case Factory before retiring.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan Ruemelin of Elgin; five grandchildren, including Cindy (William) Matson of Monroe Center, WI, and Michael Ruemelin of Genoa; five great-grandchildren, Cody and Josh Matson, Christopher, Zachary, and Jacob Reumelin; one sister, Theresa Holtz of Milwaukee, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Strong in 1967; her son, Leonard Parsons; four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Provena Pineview Care Center, St. Charles.
Kazimer Yaworski
Kazimer Yaworski was born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba on August 22, 1935 and passed away unexpectedly December 28, 2003 at the age of 68 in Dunnellon, Florida.
Kaz was a retired bus driver with 31 years of service with the Chicago Transit Authority. He will also be remembered for his talent in re-upholstering.
Kaz is survived by his wife of 48 years, Florence, of Dunellon; a daughter, Angela Latiolais of Hawaii; three sons, Bruce M. Yaworski of Kingston, IL, Glenn A. Yaworski of Elgin, IL, and David W. Yaworski of Rockford, IL; three brothers, Steve Saunders of Dunnellon, John Yaworski of Winnipg, Manitoba and David Yaworski of Grand Beach, Manitoba; two sisters, Mary Smith of Fisher Branch, Manitoba and Rose Joss of Winnipeg, Manitoba; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kazimer in 1968, and Pearl in 1994; his son, Michael K. in 2001; two brothers, Walter in 1986 and Eddie in 2003.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a future date.
Tommie G. Ozbirn
Tommie G. Ozbirn, 58, long time Elgin resident, passed away Monday, January 6, 2003 in Elgin. He was born March 16, 1944 in West Plains, MO, the son of the late Clarence and Laura Ozbirn. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving his country from 1961 to 1968, a bus driver for PACE in Elgin, over-the-road truck driver, but his greatest accomplishment was his children. They inherited his magnificent heart and he was so very proud of each one of them.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ozbirn (nee Polecastro), his children, David (Connie) McGhee of South Elgin, Jason Ozbirn of Wooddale, Joshua, Jessica and Cody Ozbirn of Elgin, his grandchildren, Courtnie and Tiffany, his great-grandson, Angel, his siblings Juna Faye (Sherman) Love, Bobbye (Boyd) Huffman, Charles (Jaine Wilhite), Doug (the late Linda). He is the son-in-law of James and Grace Polecastro, brother-in-law of Carolyn (Terry) Watkins of Oregon, Vicky (Archie) Archambault of Oregon, James, Jr. (Karen) Polecastro of Hoffman Estates, Steven (Sue) Polecastro of Schaumburg and Paul Polecastro. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Hazel Jean Greer and his sister-in-law, Julie Wojiciechowski.
Friends are family we choose, and we thank our loving friends, the Spitzers, the Petersens, the Christiansens, Dr. Nandkumar, Dr. Flanign and all the supportive people from Xerox and Loyola University Medical Center.

Margaret N. Pelley
Margaret N. Pelley, 89, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at ASTA Care Center, Elgin. She was born January 3, 1914 in Steward, IL the daughter of John and Oline Titland Sjurseth. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1950 and had been employed by Brody Coat Co. before retiring.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (David) Field of Elgin, son, Paul Pelley of Virginia, nine grandchildren, Tammy (Mario) Muth, Tracy (Steve) Gardon, Dale (Debbie) Pelley, Jean, Michael, Janice, Lynne, Lisa and Cheryl Pelley and nine great grandchildren, including Tanner Gardon, Alan Lyle and Brian Lyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul F. Pelley in 2001, son and daughter-in-law Richard (Carol) Pelley, three sisters, Mildred Olson, Clara Leatherby and Matilda Swick and four brothers, Sigrud, Melvin, Harold and Olaf Sjurseth.
Private funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2003 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Harvey Feustel officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
William David Samuelson
William David Samuelson, 53, of Elgin, died Saturday, January 4, 2003, at Sherman Hospital. He was born July 21, 1949 in Elgin to Harold A. and Clara (Ross) Samuelson.
He was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1967, and the University of Illinois Circle Campus in Chicago. He had been employed for 30 years by New York Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Survivors include his wife Susan (Matsumoto) Samuelson, whom he married
on April 26, 1975; his aunt, Hazel Meier of Indiana and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold at age 4, and a sister, Wilma in 1978.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation
