Bernice Rosengarden Charles
Bernice Rosengarden Charles, loving wife of Ray for 62 years; devoted mother of Michael, Jon and Wendy; doting grandmother of Claire, Annalily, Clover and Jonathan; best friend to daughters-in-law Lake and Maureen, and brother Bob Rosengarden, sister Joan Meyer and sisters-in-law Audrey Newman and Sharon Rosengarden; left us January 8, 2003 in Los Angeles. She was beloved by all.

Ann Olsen Giannotti
Ann Olsen Giannotti, 76, of Woodstock, former many year resident of Carpentersville, died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Woodstock Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. She was born in Chicago on November 5, 1926, the daughter of Pierre and Ethel (nee Foote) Bergeron. Ann was a resident of the Dundee area for over 50 years and worked as a waitress at several area restaurants.
She is survived by seven children, Charles Olsen of Arizona, Bob Olsen of Carpentersville, Robin (Peggy) Olsen of Crystal Lake, Elmer (Lee) Olsen of Spring Grove, Louise (the late Mike) Ferraro of Carpentersville, Margaret "Maggie" Burrow of Wauconda and Nancy Hall of Carpentersville. Grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 23.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Jim and John, one sister, Ruth Callahan.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. William Schuessler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, Barrington.

Thomas A. Hatfield
Thomas A. Hatfield, 80, of Willow Lakes Estates, Elgin passed away Sunday, December 29, 2002 in his home under the care of Provena Hospice. He was born January 6, 1922 in Niles, MI, the son of Henry Robinson Hatfield and Harriett Victoria Fox. He loved flying and learned to fly at his home town airport and became a flight instructor for Leland Roskay. He joined the U.S. Navy Air Corp prior to World War II and then he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II until 1945. He flew for Capital Airlines until in merged with United Airlines in 1961 and retired from United Airlines in 1982. He had been a resident of Sleepy Hollow from 1969 to 1972 before moving to Florida and returning to Elgin in 2002.
He was a 32nd degree Master Mason with Blue Island Lodge #716 Calumet City. He was also a former member of St. James Episcopal Church of West Dundee.
Surviving are his wife, Amanda Righter Hatfield whom he married on September 7, 1946, two daughters, Deborah Sue Taylor of Spencer, IN and Olivia Ann (William J.) Alfredson of Elgin, two sons, Thomas A. (Regina) Hatfield of Palm Bay, FL and Niel C. Hatfield of Asheboro, N.C., eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dawn Holcomb and a brother, Ralph.
Private funeral services were held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospice, Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, West Dundee was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth M. Proesel
Ruth M. Proesel, 83, of West Dundee died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born in East Dundee on September 18, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Emilie (nee Reko) Goers.
She was a life long resident of the Dundee area, a former many year employee of the David C. Cook Publishing Co. She was a longtime and very active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of West Dundee.
She is survived by two children, Steven (Pat) Proesel of Irving, Texas and Mary (Roger) Rathjen of West Dundee; two grandchildren, Ben Rathjen of Dallas, Texas and Sarah (Bob) Welzien of Carpentersville; two great grandsons, Joey and Jimmy Welzien; a brother, Otto Goers of Sun City, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John R. Proesel on February 8, 1987; two sisters, Hilda Kostecki and Margaret Erickson; and three brothers, Edwin Goers, William Goers and Albert Goers.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 2 PM in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee. Burial will be private in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be on Saturday in the church from Noon until time of Service.
Please omit flowers, Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, West Dundee. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Irene E. Short
Irene E. Short, 87, of South Elgin passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003 in Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born April 4, 1915 in Elgin and was the daughter of John and Susan Tasnadi.
Survivors include two sons, Bob (Rosa) Short of Carpentersville, IL and Richard (Patricia) Short of South Elgin, four grandchildren, Kelli (Jim) Ambroso of California, Kathi Short of West Dundee, IL, Kristin Short of South Elgin, IL and Rick (Karyn) Short of Peoria, IL, eight great-grandchildren and her sister, Helen Christensen of Elgin.
preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Short in 1997, her granddaughter, Loren Short and two brothers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Omission of flowers is requested, with memorials made to the American Cancer Society.

Dennis William Simpson
Dennis William Simpson, 65, of Crystal Lake died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Fair Oaks Health Care Center in Crystal Lake.
He was born in Waukegan on August 13, 1937 to J. Ralph and Cora (Beth) Simpson. He married Judith Lawrence on September 16, 1961 in Crystal Lake. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from NiCor Gas where he worked for 41 years. He was a coach and equipment manager for Continental Little League and equipment manager for Babe Ruth Baseball. He enjoyed doing printing and lettering, watching football, tinkering around the house, bicycling and blues music.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Crystal Lake, a daughter, Nicole (Richard Frankowski) Simpson of Wonder Lake, a son, James (Brandi) Simpson of Manchester, CT, an aunt, Terry Seagraves of Benton, IL, and uncle, Herman Simpson of Texas, a sister in law, Susan (Glenn) Durbin of Huachucha City, AZ and two nephews, Patrick W. and Todd W. Tychewicz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an uncle James and four aunts, Mary, Maude, Nell and Louise.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, January 12 at Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 13 at the McHenry County Memorial Park Chapel. Rev. Bob Baker will officiate. Entombment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park. Memorials in his name would be appreciated to The Salvation Army, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave. Crystal Lake, IL 60014 or to United Way of McHenry County Inc. 4508 Prime Parkway, McHenry, IL 60050. Henry Cravy
Henry Cravy, 83, of Elgin passed away Friday, January 10. 2003 in Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
He was born March 11, 1919, the son of Aaron and Effie Cravy.
Survivors include two sons, Rick (Kim) Cravy and Mike (Teresa) Cravy both of Kansas City; a daughter, Pam (David) Jacobson of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kimberly Jacobson, Emily, Aubry, Elle, Jessica, Alyssa Cravy all of Kansas City. Loved by brothers and sisters.
preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 51 years, Hazel Cravy.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Kansas City. O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., 847-741-1400, is assisting the family.

Paul A. Kempik, Sr.
Paul A. Kempik, Sr., 79, of North Chicago, formerly of Elgin, passed away Thursday in North Chicago VA Hospital. He was born August 8, 1923 in Elgin, IL and was the son of Paul and Katherine (Reese) Kempik. Paul was a Veteran, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his discharge, he had worked at Howell Co. in St. Charles, IL for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Survivors include three children, Deborah (Richard) Reed of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Kempik of Elgin, IL and Paul Kempik Jr. of Elgin, IL, three grandchildren, two sisters, Veronica Horne and Mamie Corbisier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen Kempik in 1996 and three sisters, Frances, Grace and Agnes.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

David W. Muchow
David W. Muchow, 53, of Algonquin passed away January 9, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. He was born February 11, 1949 in Elgin, IL. He was employed at Quantum Analytics in Foster City, CA. He was a member of Sigma Thi Epsilon "1970" at Valparaiso University. He also attended Springbrook Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, a son, Justin (Rory) Muchow of Elgin, IL, a step daughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Hein of Lake In The Hills, a step son, Trevor Corbin of Elgin, IL, step-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Elana and Cailynn, his mother, Carole Muchow of Elgin, a brother, Steve (Linda) Muchow of Elgin, two nieces, Laura Muchow of Elgin and Janet (Eric) Lukazewski of East Dundee, and a brother-in-law, Thomas Klabonde of Elgin.
He is preceded in death by Ralph William Muchow, D.D.S.
He will be lying in state Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. at Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 100 Hanson Rd. in Algonquin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Rd. in Algonquin. Memorials may be directed to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Oncology Department, 251 E. Huron St. Chicago, IL 60611 or to the family.

Jose Camacho Sr.
Jose Camacho Sr., 92, of Elgin, IL passed away on January 8, 2006 in his home. He was born in El Guayabito, Mexico on February 16, 1913 to Perfecto and Luisa Camacho. In 1955 he immigrated to Wellington, Kansas, and worked for the Milwaukee RailRoad. Two years later, he moved to Elgin, IL where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed by Moline Malleable Iron Company in St. Charles for 25 years and retired in 1978.
Jose was a devoted family man who enjoyed hunting, writing poetry, gardening, carpentry, and mariachi music.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lazara Camacho (Guerrero); his children, Carlos (Sandy), Maria (Cesareo) Alfaro, Eva (William) Alvarado, Delia (Guillermo) Nino, all of Elgin, and Jose (Jean) Jr., of Addison, IL; a brother, Rafael Camacho of CA; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin. Officiating will be Father Leonardo Maldonado. Burial of Cremains will follow mass at Mount Hope cemetery in Elgin. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of cremation services.

Barbara Florczak
Barbara Florczak, 78, of McHenry, formerly of Carpentersville, died Wednesday morning, January 11, 2006 at Alden Terrace in McHenry, IL, following a long illness.
She was born on December 1, 1927 in Poland. In Germany in 1946, she married Tadeusz "Ted" Florczak.
Barbara is survived by two daughters, Wesline (Rondo) Noller of Carpentersville and Delphine (Tony) Locascio of Lake In The Hills; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted of 41 years; two sons, Richard and Stanley; a daughter, Elizabeth; a daughter-in-law, Sheri Florczak; one brother; and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Friday, January 13, 2006 in the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, IL 60118 and from 9 AM Saturday, January 14, 2006 until time of service at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Rev. David Austin officiating. Interment will be in West Dundee Twp. cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Edward Clarence Grider Sr.
Edward Clarence Grider Sr., 61, of Grand Junction, MI, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at home.
He was born August 22, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Clarence and Ann (Cericola) Grider. Edward served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was the Vice-President of Computer Services at First Chicago/ First Card in Elgin, IL. Edward loved Baseball and coached Little League in Elgin, IL for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirl Grider who died in 1995, along with his father.
He is survived by three children, Dawn (Jason) Siegel of Lake in the Hills, IL, Edward (Joleen) Grider of Avondale, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Sean Grider of Santa Rosa, CA; his mother, Ann Grider of Grand Junction, MI; four grandchildren, Jordan and Danielle Siegel and Vinvent and Anthony Grider; a brother, Wayne (Nancy) Grider of South Haven, MI; two nephews; and one niece also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, from 1-4 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Private familyinterment will be at the family lot in Chicago, IL.
