Melva Louise Tennison
Melva Louise Tennison, 90 of Elgin, passed away Monday, February 13, 2006 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. She was born February 18, 1915 in Terra Cotta, Illinois the daughter of Allen and Ida Schnelle Jackson. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life and was self employed as a Cosmetologist and had owned several beaty salons in the Elgin area before retiring.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Elgin. She was a member of Larkin Center, former member of Altrussa Club, member of Cosmetology Affiliate #26. She was a volunteer at the Elgin Crisis Center, former member of the Valley Belles of Harmony and member of the Elgin Women's Club.
Surviving are her husband, Allyn Glynn Tennison whom she married on October 17, 1981; three children, Michael (Karen) Rehberg of West Des Moines, Iowa, David (Pamela) Rehberg of Elgin and Melva (Tom) Schultz of Crystal Lake; step daughter, Elaine (Brian) Garland of California; and step son, Gary (Rose Ann) Tennison of California; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Johnson Newell (Bill) of Washington; one nephew, Larry (Karen) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; one great niece, Lori Klein of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, LeRoy A. Rehberg in 1980; one brother in infancy; and a nephew, Phillip Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 17 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Richard Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Elgin Crisis Center.

Carl E. Fischer
Carl E. Fischer, 70, of Burlington, IL passed away Monday, February 11, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born June 1, 1931 in West Bloomfield, WI, the son of Martin and Lydia (Strochein) Fischer. Carl married Donna L. Schuelke on March 20, 1954 in Readfield, WI. They resided in Freemont, WI for eight years before moving to Burlington, IL in 1964.
Mr. Fischer had been employed by Playskool of Hampshire, IL, Cargill Inc. of Carpentersville, IL and the W.R. Meadows Plant in Hampshire. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; children, Michael (Teri) Fischer of Ogdensburg, WI and Tracy (Chuck) Wiskirchen of Elgin, IL; three grandchildren, Catlin and Brody Fischer and Thomas Wiskerchen; two sisters, Bernice Fischer and Lorraine Fischer, both of Weyauwega, WI and two brothers-in-law, Eugene (Lorraine) Schuelke of Dale, WI and Harlen (Betty) Schuelke of Appleton, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, February 15, 2002 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, IL with the Rev. Howard Gleason, Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Following cremation, burial will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2002 in the Oakwood cemetery in Weyawauga, WI. Memorials in his name may be directed to the St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington, IL.

George H. Russell
George H. Russell, age 60, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born June 14, 1941 in Chippewa Falls, WI, the son of Lawrence and Lillian Paul Russell. He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life. He was employed by Laborers Local 582 in Elgin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Laborers Local 582 of Elgin and the NRA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Paulette "Polly" Russell, whom he married on December 10, 1970; a daughter, Tracy Russell of Woodstock; a son, Brian Russell of Huntley; two grandchildren, Quincy Russell and Jacob Reis; a sister, Darlene (Edward) Davis of Elgin; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in South Elgin cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Ruth Margaret Braun-Smith
Ruth Margaret Braun-Smith, 63, of Elgin, IL. died Monday, February 4, 2002 at home. Born July 31, 1938 in Elgin to Richard and Margaret (Baumbach) Braun. "Ruthie" was a 1956 graduate of Elgin High School.
She is survived by a daughter, Joy (Edward) Sermonti; a brother, John R. (Janet) Braun of Indianapolis, IN and her pet cat, Precious Angel.
preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward at birth; a daughter, Kay Ann; her husband, Raymond Smith; a nephew, Daniel J. Braun.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel. Private interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery at a later date.

Donna J. Wendling
Donna J. Wendling, 55, of Elgin, passed away at Sherman Hospital, Elgin on Monday, February 11, at 5:00 P.M. due to complications with lung cancer. She was a loving wife, mother and daughter who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Donna was born in Cisne, IL on July 1, 1946, the daughter of Eugene and Eleanor Williams McCracken. She grew up in Cisne and was a graduate of Cisne High School Class of 1964. She then moved to Springfield, IL and attended Land of Lincoln College and worked for the Department of Transportation. She married Larry Wendling on July 18, 1970 in Springfield. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1971, and was employed by the City of Elgin for many years in various job capacities. She was a 1977 graduate of Elgin Community College.
She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Larry; daughter, Keri (Ken) Van Zee of Hiawatha, IA; son, David Wendling of Elgin; mother, Eleanor McCracken of Cisne; brother, Albert (Eva) McCracken of Cisne and many loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene McCracken.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Paul Hayes officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 16, at 3:00 P.M. at Maplehill cemetery, Fairfield, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation of Greater Chicago.

Richard L. Harding
Richard L. Harding, 65, of Carpentersville passed away Thursday, February 12, 2004 in his home. He was born May 15, 1938 in Chicago, the son of Eugene and Elsie Harding.
Richard was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 55 for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping and woodworking. He also took great pleasure in an occasional vacation to Las Vegas. He also liked to sit quietly and read.
Survivors include his wife of 46 1/2 years, Jeannette; four daughters, Diane (Robert) Balsamo of Bartlett, Karen (Ron) Mikula of Aurora, Dawn (Chuck) Hartman of Cary and Patricia (Ted) Green of Machesney Park; a son, Rick Harding of Carpentersville; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Harding and Bob (Virginia) Harding; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February15, 2004 at 3 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of Third and Oregon), West Dundee with Deacon Robert Balsamo officiating. Visitation will be held TODAY from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home and on Sunday from 2 PM until time of services.
A reception will follow at 5 PM at the Carpentersville Moose Lodge #1958, corner of Lake Marion Rd. and Besinger Dr. For information, please call the Laird Funeral Home, 847-836-8770.

Adele D. Tarnow Johnson
Adele D. Tarnow Johnson, 86, of El Cajon, CA, formerly of Elgin, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Chase Care Center in El Cajon. She was born in East Dundee on February 1, 1918. She was the daughter of Henry and Minnie (nee Toppel) Baumgartner. She was a former many year resident of the area.
She was a former many year employee of Haeger Potteries in East Dundee where she worked as a Supervisor. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons; John H. (Bonnie) Tarnow of El Cajon, CA and Robert L. (Judy) Johnson of South Elgin; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Mae Fisher of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Tarnow in 1966; her second husband, Orrin Johnson in 1979.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. the Rev. Tom Severson, Pastor of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Elgin will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Jeanne A. Penniall
Jeanne A. Penniall, 76, of West Dundee passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at her home and is now in God's tender care. She was born in Elgin on October 3, 1927 the daughter of Fred and Harriet (nee Finn) Rausch.
Jeanne was a 28 year employee of School District #300. She worked as Secretary in the Guidance Office at Dundee Community High School. She was loved by all her students and co-workers. Jeanne was the "foundation" of her family, she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Michael J. (Sue) Penniall of Urbana, IL and Barbara Penniall of HI; five grandchildren, Joel (Wendy) Abbamonte of Elgin, Brian (Shannon) Penniall of Lake Zurich, Meredith Penniall of St. Charles, Jeff Kotiw of Champaign and Tracy (Spencer) Adkins of Urbana; seven great-grandchilden, Anthony, Jack, Alexis, Spencer, Victoria, Isabella and Nicholas. Jeanne was looking forward to the birth of two other great grandchildren later this year. Many good friends and neighbors also survive, including her "Club Ladies"
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John Penniall. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at Noon in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Roy E. "Skip" Preis Jr.
Roy E. "Skip" Preis Jr., 71, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Lake Marian, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2004 after complications from Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He was born April 6, 1932 in Chicago, the son of Roy and Dorothy Preis.
Roy was retired from sales in the food service industry. While living in the Dundee area he had been active in Boy Scouts and the Carpentersville Little League. Roy was loved not only by his family, but my many who considered him a good friend, a second Dad and a great coach. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Geri Preis; his daughters, Debra (Andrew) Regecz of Dundee and Donna Mason (Denny Horgan) of Powelle Point, NC; a son, Gary (Deanna) Preis of West Dundee; six grandchildren, Sara, Drew, Johathan, Megan, Emily and Kurtis; a sister, Dolores Schweiss of Grayslake, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were privately held in Las Vegas. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box 262, Wynnewood, PA, 19096 would be appreciated.

Eileen A. Sherman
Eileen A. Sherman, 69, died in her home of cancer, February 10, surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago, January 9, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Anne (Ewald) Hochberger. Eileen was a 49 year resident of Elgin. Over the years she worked for U-46 as a school bus driver, and a bookkeeper and receptionist for several businesses. She then studied to become a medical technician at Quest Diagnostics (formerly MetPath Inc. and Brown Laboratories) for 25 years retiring this past March.
Eileen was an avid photographer and had her photos shown in exhibitions at ECC. She also loved to travel and, most recently, traveled to China in November with two of her daughters.
She is survived by her children, Betty (Steve) Rauschenberger of Elgin, Chuck (Lota) Sherman of Pearl City, HI, Ruth (Jim Lassoie) Sherman of Ithaca, NY, Mark (Hilda) Sherman of Huntington Beach, CA, Joan Sherman of Elgin and Marianne (Al) Burton of Palatine; her best friend and companion, Don Nix of St. Charles; his sister, Ginny (George) Bachouros of Raleigh, NC; and her brother Jerry (Gretchen) Hochberger of Bartlett; her grandchildren, Mike and Hank Rauschenberger, John and Audrey Sherman, and Brian and Kara Burton; and her nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Bill Bergman.
Memorial visitation will be held o Saturday, February 14, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jayne Shover Easter Seat Rehabilitation Center, 799 South McLean Blvd, Elgin, IL 60123.

Edward J. Zander
Edward J. Zander, 71, of New Smyrna Beach, FL formerly of Sleepy Hollow died Tuesday, February 10, 2004 in Florida. He was born in Chicago on June 9, 1932. He was the son of Edward J. and Magdalena (nee Gastornoski) Zander. Mr. Zander was a former resident of Sleepy Hollow for over 20 years.
He was a former 40 year employee of State Farm Insurance. He retired as the Regional Sales Claim Manager. He was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee, a former church usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus Siena Council #8596.
He is survived by his wife Norma Besten Zander of Florida; his son, Craig (Maureen) Zander of Fox Point, WI; his daughters, Pamela Cash of Dallas, TX, Gail (Robert) Christensen of Sleepy Hollow and Beth (Bernard) O'Neill of Hartland, WI; seven grandchildren, Patrick and William Cash, Carolyn and Meredith Zander, Madeline Christensen, Megan and Michaela O'Neill; two sisters, Sr. Rita Zander, BVM of Chicago and Esther Gliot of Bolingbrook, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Lou (nee Bushbaum) Zander on May 2, 1997.
Family and friends will meet for funeral mass on Monday, February 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. David Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Monday in church from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass.

Lolita A. Gatz "Lolly"
Lolita A. Gatz, 73, of Carpentersville, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born February 17, 1932 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Roy and Anna (Hahl) Benson.
She was a letter carrier in Carpentersville for over 19 years.
Lolita married Joseph J. Gatz in Chicago on September 15, 1956 and he survives along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A brother, Jim Benson, also preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM on Wednesday in the Miller Funeral Home, 540 West Main Street, West Dundee. (847-426-3436). Interment will be private. Visitation Tuesday, from 3 to 8 PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association.

Joseph Seisser
Joseph Seisser, 80, of Elgin, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at Sherman Hospital after a long illness. born November 26, 1925 in Harmony, IL he was the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Lohneis) Seisser. Joseph was a Veteran, and served in the US Army overseas in Germany during the Korean War. He was employed in the printing industry, retiring from Borden Chemical in 1986. He was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin, St. Mary Church in Durand, and a current member of St. Mary's Church in Elgin. He was active in Church Choir, Church Usher, Parish Council, and Board of Education. Joseph was also the Director of Youth Sports, and Athletic Director. He served as a League Officer at the Elgin National Little League.
Joseph was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, he was involved in P.A.D.S. in Elgin. He enjoyed bowling, and sang in a Barbershop Quartet, he participated in local theater. Joseph liked to Garden, Woodworking, Classical Music, and Opera.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Knudsen), to whom he married on October 23, 1954; his five children, Mary Ellen (James) Nelson of Columbia Heights, MN, Anne (Gary) Belcher of Elgin, Gregory and Gilbert Seisser of Elgin and Fr. Edward Seisser, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Belcher, Ingrid Nelson, Lucas Belcher, Aidan Belcher, Adam Seisser, Isabel Belcher and Matthew Seisser; three sisters, Francis Quinn of Huntington Park, PA, Elizabeth Fischer of Milwaukee, WI, Mary Kappen of Barnhart, MO; his brother, Richard (Mary) Seisser of Lucerne, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 14, 2006 from 3-9 PM with Wake and Rosary at 6:30 PM at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 12:30 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin, with visitation in the church narthex from 11:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Entombment will follow at Mt. Hope cemetery in Elgin. A Luncheon will be offered in Binsfield Hall in the parish center after the funeral mass and burial. Omission of flowers is requested, with memorials made to St. Mary's Church Adopt a Student Fund or Masses in his name.
