He was the husband of Sharon Hammer, father of Elizabeth (Butler) Dale, Lura Hammer (Dirk Dypold), Linda Anderson (Thomas). Grandfather of Michael Marksberry, Catherine Marksberry, Rebecca Hansen, Aaron Anderson, Cassandra Anderson, Ila Anderson and Audrey Anderson.

Helen L. Kozanecki
Helen L. Kozanecki, 80, of Carpentersville died Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the Asta Care Center in Elgin. She was born on March 28, 1922 in Chicago. She was the daughter of Vincent and Lottie (nee Poteracki) Gorynski. She was a 40 year resident of the Carpentersville area and was a member of the St. Monica Church of Carpentersville.
She is survived by one daughter, Christine Mattio of Carpentersville, three grandsons, Michael Kozanecki, Gerald J. Mattio and Anthony "Tony" Mattio all of Carpentersville. Her former daughter-in-law, Deborah Schult as well as many nieces, nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chester W. Kozanecki on December 18, 2000. They married
June 22, 1946. One son, Alan J. Kozanecki in 1978, one sister, Gertrude "Trudy" Nemec.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee to St. Monica Church of Carpentersville for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee from 3-9 p.m. Please omit flowers, masses would be appreciated or memorials to the St. Monica Church of Carpentersville.
Helen M. McConnell
Helen M. McConnell, 70, of Carpentersville, IL, passed away Wednesday in her home, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born February 12, 1933 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Michael and Bridget Coyne. A 34 year resident of Carpentersville, Helen was an avid bingo player and will be missed by all who knew hew. She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church of Carpentersville, IL.
Survivors include five children, Brian (Nancy) McConnell of Austin, TX, Eileen McConnell of Elgin, Maureen (Robert) Golding of Carpentersville, IL, Patrick (Mary) McConnell of Kingston, IL and Kathleen McConnell of Carpentersville, IL, six grandchildren, Amber, Tanya, Megan, Kelly, Madelyn and George, three sisters and one brother.
preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald McConnell in 1997, one brother, Bill Coyne in 2000.
Funeral services will start with prayers at 10:15 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., West Dundee, to St. Monica's Catholic Church of Carpentersville for Mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Schuessler officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:30-8:30 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, West Dundee, and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until prayers in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Dorothy C. Myers
Dorothy C. Myers, 82, of Elgin, formerly of Lisle, IL, passed away February 19, 2003 at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. She was born November 28, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Esther Olson Johnson. She had been a resident of Lisle for over 40 years and had been a resident of Elgin for the past two years.
Surviving are her children, John W. (Pamela) Myers of Lisle, Judy (Jim) Erl of Westmont, Jeffery Myers (Jennifer Almanza) of Lisle and Jerry T. (Sandra L.) of West Chicago, five grandchildren, Jim (Laurie) and Doreen Erl, Kelsey, Taylor and Shannon Myers, one great grandson, Joseph Vana and one brother, Albert Johnson of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester W. Myers in 1980, three brothers, Gunnard, Gilbert and Robert Johnson and one sister, Violet Johnson.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday at Clarendon Hills cemetery, Darien. Visitation will be held Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Elgin Senior Services, 101 S. Grove Ave., Elgin.
Doris M. Huntoon
Doris M. Huntoon, 81, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at her home in Elgin. She was born November 28, 1922 in Hampshire, the daughter of John and Emma (nee Dumoulin) Maynard. Doris was a devoted mother, a creative seamstress who took pleasure in sharing her talents and loved animals.
She is survived by her husband, Walter, who she met at the Elgin National Watch Company and married
June 8, 1944 in Hampshire; children, David of Albuquerque, NM, Carol Zamie of Elgin and Gary (Wanda Null) of Elgin; granddaughter, Kristin Huntoon of Elgin; two brothers, John and Edwin of Hampshire; a sister, Norma Gray of Hampshire; nieces and nephews; her other grandchildren, Jasmine, a black lab and three cats, Dolly, Chessie and Sugar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bernardine Walrack; and a brother, Alvin in infancy.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004 at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin from 2 to 4 PM. Linda J. Koch
Linda J. Koch, 55, of South Elgin, passed away Thursday in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on June 23, 1948 in Elgin and was the daughter of Eugene and Helen (Hoffmeier) Geske. She was a graduate of Larkin High School in 1966. Linda was a homemaker and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, James, whom she married
on October 21, 1967; two children, James (Julie) Koch, Jr. of South Elgin, Dawn (Dan) Downing of South Elgin; three grandchildren, Andrew and Marisa Koch, Alexis Downing; two sisters, Donna Summerfield and Darling Wintz; her mother, Helen (Earl) Krueger.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 12:00 Noon in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Gerald L. "Jake" Powers
Gerald L. "Jake" Powers, 62, of Elgin passed Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at his home. He was born February 7, 1942 in Elgin the son of George and Helen Sommers Powers. He had been a resident of Elgin for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Marian Central High School in Woodstock in 1960. He was employed by Smurfit Stone Packaging in Schaumburg. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army. Jake was a lifelong Bears fan and family man. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Dwyer Powers whom he married
on January 16, 1965; two children, Patrick (Carolyn) Powers of Elgin and Rebecca (Rick) Kelly of Elgin; five grandchildren, Kayla, Taylor, Logan, Brianna and Shannon; one brother, Robert (Barbara) Powers of McHenry; four sisters, Linda (Larry) Rice of Woodstock, Donna (Ken) Jensen of Woodstock, Rita Rehaste of Orange, CA, and Cindy (Jim) Sweeney of Blaine, MN; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sandra Dorazio of Silver Lake, WI; mother-in-law, Margaret Dwyer of Elgin; brother-in-law, Michael (Nancy) Dwyer of Mansfield, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Powers; and a nephew, Bill Rice.

John J. "Jack" Sullivan
John J. "Jack" Sullivan, 80, of West Dundee died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Chicago on March 29, 1923, the son of John J. and Esther (nee Woods) Sullivan. John was a 38 year resident of the Dundee area. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee, the Knights of Columbus, a W.W.II Army Veteran, and a former West Dundee Police Pension Board member. He was a longtime friend of Bill W.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia (nee Selzer) Sullivan, whom he married
on April 26, 1958; six children, Joanne (Edward) Zasada of Plato Twp., Stephen (Teresa) of Eagan, MN, Terence, M.D. (Carol) of Chicago, Cdr. Joseph (Lynda) of Oak Harbor, WA, Daniel (Barbara) of Durham, NC, and Mary of New York City, NY; thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer, Meghan, Kevin, Rachel, Alison, Caitlin, Jack, Timothy, Nikki, Gerrid, Brittany, Kelsy, and Lindsey; his sister, Mary Murphy of Oak Park; his sister-in-law, Roberta Sullivan of Brookfield; his mother-in-law, Dolores Selzer of West Dundee; many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Thomas; his sister, Genevieve Ruzkowski.

Wallace Clifford "Bud" Kenyon
Wallace Clifford "Bud" Kenyon, 87, of South Elgin passed away Friday, February 21, 2003 at Sherman West Court, Elgin.
He was born May 23, 1915 at the family home south of Elgin, the son of Grace Manley Kenyon and Wallace Clark Kenyon.
He was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1932 and then from Lawrence University in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army, volunteering in October of 1941 and serving until September 17, 1945 retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer serving in the Third Army under Gen. George Patton in the European Theatre of Operation. He received the Bronze Star and five Battle Stars. In 1948, he joined the firm of Kenyon Brothers Company with his brothers, David C, John W., Harold L. and Warren M. Kenyon in dairy farming and cattle sales. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, served on the Board of Managers of Sherman Hospital for 20 years and the First National Bank of Elgin Board for 20 years. He served on the Board of Sherman West Court and was a volunteer at Sherman West Court.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Margaret Pate Kenyon; three sons, Michael (Carol) Kenyon, W. Clark Kenyon and Larry A. (Teresa) Kenyon; three grandsons; five granddaughters; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 24, 2003 at 11 AM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Larry Pickens officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
Joseph Richard "Dick" Sutter
Joseph Richard "Dick" Sutter, age 78, of Springhill, FL passed away February 5, 2003. He was born in 1924 in Chicago, IL and was a former Elgin resident. He started WRMN radio station and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He worked in real estate, advertising and printing in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Sutter, a brother, John "Jack" Sutter (Doris), a daughter, Kimberly Ernst (James) and a granddaughter, Casey R. Ernst.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Joseph Sutter.

Christina Elsa Durcansky (Dziwis), 80, of Aurora passed away Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital, Aurora. Born December 18, 1923 in Poland (Lithuania) to the late Stephen and Gertrude (Moll) Dziwis, also preceded in death by her two sisters, Hilda Tzack and Helena Jacek and her husband, Julius Durcansky.
Christina came to Pittsburg, PA from Poland in 1952, worked at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburg until retiring in 1985.
Survived by two daughters, Judy E. (Jim) Reardanz of Aurora and Margie Pritchard of Pittsburg, PH; three grandsons, Christopher S. Reardanz, Thomas C. and Stephen P. Pritchard; a nephew, Andrzej Jacek; a nieces, Wanda Jacek; four great nephews and two great nieces all of Poland; and many friends in Pittsburg.

Yvette E. Fry, 84, of Elgin, passed away Friday, February 20, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, ELgin. She was born on December 25, 1919 in Ideal, IL and was the daughter of Clinton and Emma (Roderick) Geary.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #799; Past Senior Regent, College of Regent; former member of the Eagle's Club Auxiliary.
