Evelyn Emeline Steele
Evelyn Emeline Steele, 81, of St. Charles, died Friday, February 21, 2003 at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. She was born October 29, 1921 in Crook Twp., McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Maggie (Smith) Nations.
In February 1941 she was united in marriage to Edmond Clifford Steele in Jackson, MO. She had been employed by St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Later Evelyn was employed by Areo Products in St. Charles, which made the magic slates. She retired from Strathmore Printing Company in Geneva.
Mrs. Steele is survived by her daughters, Glenda (Edward) Faber of St. Charles, Joyce (Robert) Davis of Elgin, and Karma (Darryl) Prince of Shelbyville, TN, five grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Faber, Jeff (Cindy) Dersham, Brian Faber, Jennifer (Edward) Christenson, and Zachary (fiancee Felecia Locke) Prince; her one year old great grandson, Jacob Faber; two sisters, Novie Sneed of McLeansboro, IL and Wilma (Joe) Davis of Maple Park, IL, one brother, Dexter (Sarrah) Nations of McLeansboro, IL and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Shangle of Mountain Home, ID and Freda Nations of Mt. Vernon, IL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend, Vivian Madsen and many other close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband after 33 years of marriage, their daughter, Rita Ann Steele, her brothers, John and James Nations, and her sisters, Beaulah Dunivan and Wanda May Nations.
A graveside committal service will be held at a later date at Hopewell cemetery in Hamilton County, IL.
Contibutions in Mrs. Steele's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60602.

Joseph Richard "Dick" Sutter
Joseph Richard "Dick" Sutter, age 78, of Springhill, FL passed away February 5, 2003. He was born in 1924 in Chicago, IL and was a former Elgin resident. He started WRMN radio station and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He worked in real estate, advertising and printing in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Sutter, a brother, John "Jack" Sutter (Doris), a daughter, Kimberly Ernst (James) and a granddaughter, Casey R. Ernst.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Joseph Sutter.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospice, 2260 Cortez Drive, Springhill, FL 34613.

Donald C. Blank
Donald C. Blank, 86, of East Dundee died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Rosewood Care Center of Elgin.
He was born on June 7, 1918 in Burlington, Illinois. He was the son of Samuel and Lorena (nee Davis) Blank. Don was a life long resident of the Dundee area. He was a former 25 year employee of Sears Roebuck, CO. of Elgin. He was a W.W.II Army Air Corp. Veteran having served in the 603rd division. He was a member of the Army Air Corp. Band. Don was a musician in the area for many years and played string bass in many local bands. He was a honorary lifetime member of the Musicians Union. He was a long time member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
He is survived by his children, Douglas (Kathy) Blank of Cleveland, Ohio and Cathy (Steve) Bergholt of Hampshire. His granddaughter, Jennifer (David) Hecht of Seattle, WA. His grandsons, Scott Blank of Seattle, WA and Matthew Bergholt of Hampshire. His brother, Llyod Blank of Elgin. His sisters, June (Arnold) Huske, Joyce (John) Ross and Doris Richardson all of Elgin and Majorie (Ora) Thomas of Goreville, IL. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Marion L. Holtz Blank. They married on September 25, 1948. She died on January 6, 2004. His sisters, Naomi Busche and Ruth Paulin. His brothers, Norton and Lennon Blank.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Scott Seidler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 4-7 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Legacy Fund.

Scott Michael Bradley
Scott Michael Bradley, 41 of Elgin, passed away Monday, February 21, 2005 in his home. He was born October 27, 1963 in St. Charles, the son of William (Carol) Bradley and Elaine (Glen) Beal.
He was a 1982 Graduate of Elgin High School. He attended E.C.C. for three years and served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his parents; his fiancee', Terri Campbell of Elgin; daughters, Alyssa and Samantha Bradley of Elgin; brothers, Bill, Robert and John Bradley; sisters, Becky Ehredt, Amy Villareal and Beth Oates; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 10:00 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with the Rev. Steve Srock, officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM in the funeral home and on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM, until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his daughters for educational purposes.

Marjorie J. Christoffersen, 95
Marjorie J. Christoffersen, 95, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Chicago died Monday, February 21, 2005 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
She was born in Winnepeg, Canada on August 13, 1909. She was the daughter of Leonard and Carolyn (nee Brodwolf) Van Praagh. She is survived by her daughter Carol (James Opelka) Kauranen of West Dundee. Her grandchildren; Debbie (David) Beal and Richard (Mary Ann) Kauranen. Her Great-grandchildren; Andrea and Kelvin Beal, Zachary Kaurenan and Rick and Lisa Gorge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George on October 31, 1984, her brother; Alfie and her sister; Ruth.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private in the Woodlawn cemetery, Forest Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-9 pm in the funeral home. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Association.

Diane E. Drafall
Diane E. Drafall, 57, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, February 22, in Alexian Brothers Hospital, Elk Grove Village. She was born December 11, 1947 in Kankakee the daughter of George and Evelyn Johnson.
Member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge N. 799 of Elgin.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sandy (Doug) Jesionowski of Carol Stream; a son, Wayne (Diane) Bishop of Harwood Heights; two grand-daughters, Alyson and Amy Jesionowski.
preceded in death by her parents and husband Gordon H. Drafall in 1991.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. With the Rev. Tom Ostrander officiating. Burial will be private in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. Thursday evening until the time of services.

Rosa Lillie Kresin
Rosa Lillie Kresin, 82, of DeKalb, formerly of Elgin, died Monday, February 21, 2005 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. She was born November 22, 1922 in Hamilton County, IL, the daughter of Nicholas H. and Ellen E. (Harre) Carter. She was married to William A. McPeak, and later married Robert Kresin.
Rosa was a mental health technician for the Elgin Mental Health Hospital for 31 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine in Elgin. She loved to garden and enjoyed doing needlework.
She is survived by three children, Vale E. (Fred) Hagel, of DeKalb, Clifton (Consing) McPeak, of DeKalb and Robin (Jim) Fraser, of Batavia; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Harriett (Lee) Crocker, of Norris City, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one sister and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore with Rev. Dan Fields officiating. Burial will be at Mount Emblem cemetery in Elmhurst.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178. For info 815-895-2833.

Winifred A. "Winnie" Mitchell
Winifred A. "Winnie" Mitchell, 89, of Elgin died Friday, February 18, 2005 at Friendship Village, Schaumburg.
She was born in Canton, MN on July 28, 1915, where she taught country school in Preston, MN; and she was also a teacher with the St. Joseph Parochial school system in Elgin for 25 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Ronald) Miksa, of Big Rock, IL and Margo (Dr. Edward) Schulte, of Long Grove; seven grandchildren, Ron W. (Alisa), Anthony (Debra), Daniel (Audra) Miksa, Karen (Mike) Coman, Lori (Tomm) Smithe and Lisa and Kristin Schulte; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte (Bill) Russell, of Canton, MN.
Winifred was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wellington, of 53 years and one brother, Gerald.
Visitation will be Friday, February 25 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mirek, officiating on Saturday, February 26 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made in Winifred's memory to Friendship Village, Schaumburg and Vitas Hospice Care, Lombard.

Gary A. Puffpaff
Gary A. Puffpaff, 65, of 12836 2345th E. Street, Princeton, IL, died Saturday, February 19, 2005 in St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley. He was born September 6, 1939 in Elgin, the son of Herbert and Ruth (Katz) Puffpaff. He married Marilyn Gruenert September 3, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn (James) Muehlschlegal of Princeton, IL and Kim (Eric) Egger of Genoa; a son, Gary Puffpaff of Princeton; four grandchildren, Ryne and Hannah Muehlschlegal, Justin and Jasmine Egger; a brother, Gene (Sandra) Puffpaff of Huntley; a sister, Bonnie (Fred) Wilkining of Oregon; his mother, Ruth Puffpaff of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by his father.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He played semi pro baseball as a young man. He owned and operated a rubber stamp business in Maple Park and then moved it to Princeton, operating from his home. Gary enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
A memorial service will be held at Norberg Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon John Murphy officiating. Cremation was accorded.
A memorial has been established in his name.

Eleanora C. Thiede
Eleanora C. Thiede, 94 of the Holmstad, Batavia, former many year resident of the Elgin area was called home to Heaven on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 and is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on February 19, 1911 in East Dundee. She was the daughter of Ernest J. and Anna (nee Unruh) Ehlert. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Elgin and a former longtime member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee where she was a former member of the Walther League and sang in the choir. She was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School in East Dundee and The Ellis Business College in Elgin. Following graduation, she was employed as a legal secretary at the law firm of Elmer Tobin.
She is survived by her sons, Robert F. (Susan) Thiede of Hendersonville, NC and Paul C. (Mary) Thiede of Fort Worth, Texas. Her grandchildren, Daniel (Nancy) Thiede, David (Kathleen) Thiede, Jon Thiede, James (Kelley) Thiede, Carolyn (Tom) Gramse, and Kristen (Bill) Stock. Six Great Grandchiildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, Frank M. Thiede on February 12, 2000. They married on Agusut 19, 1931. Her sister, Elva M. Ehlert on May 23, 2002.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. James Fandrey, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Ronald "Pete" C. Erlandsen
Ronald "Pete" C. Erlandsen, 72, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2002 in his home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Kidney Disease. He was born May 31, 1929 in Elgin and was the son of Melvin and Vera (Schumacher) Erlandsen. Ronald graduated from Dundee High School in 1947. He was a Veteran, having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Ronald had worked at Rathjan Flowers in Dundee, IL, Donal Inc. in Cicero, IL for 38 years, and Nu-Way in Antioch, IL retiring in 1991. He enjoyed playing golf, and participated in the Slophill Golf Tournament for many years.
Member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin. Member of the American Legion Post 57 and worked the Bingo Night. Past Member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin, where he also served as a Deacon. Ronald also delivered Meals on Wheels in Elgin.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Burns) of Elgin; two daughters, Rhonda (James) Brandes of Elgin and Susan (Edward) Stogenson of Crystal Lake, IL; a step-son, Bruce (Lisa) Burns of Batavia, IL; five grandchildren, Zack, Danielle and Alexandra Stogenson; Melanie and Elyse Burns; a sister, Virginia (Jack) Ikert of Dundee, IL; numerous nieces and nephews and his cats, Rusty and Smokey.
preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirlee (Bell) Erlandsen in 1983; also a son, Randy Erlandsen in 1967.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Mona Walker officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Omission of flowers is requested, with memorials made to the First United Methodist Church Radio Broadcast or H.E.L.P.
