Domingo J. Siete
Domingo J. Siete, 69, of Elgin, IL died Thursday, February 25, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born October 17, 1933 in Elgin to Cayetano and Raquel (Landero) Siete. Mr. Siete graduated from St. Edwards High School and was employed in manufacturing. A resident of Asta Care until the time of his death, Domingo was a lifelong resident of Elgin whose parents were one of the first Latino families to settle in Elgin, which now spans five generations.
Survivors include his brothers, Cip R. (Linda), Sr. and Cayetano (Virginia) both of Elgin, Frank (Loretta) of Poplar Grove, IL, Joseph (Rosa) of Chicago; his sisters, Mary Diaz, Angelita Pompa and Rafaela (Edward) Perez, all of Elgin. Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rupert and several brothers and sisters who died in infancy.
Funeral will take place Friday, February 28 at 12 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Miroslaw Reikowski officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Friday, February 28 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel until the mass at 12 noon at church.

Helene A. Dorgan
Helene A. Dorgan, 69, of Lake in the Hills, former many year resident of Carpentersville died Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the Centegra Hospital in Woodstock after a long illness.
She was born in Chicago on July 25, 1934 the daughter of Louis and Stella (nee Pupek) Stawiery. A 45 year resident of the Carpentersville-Lake in the Hills area. Helene worked in the restaurant business for many years as a waitress. At one time she was one of the owners of Frank's Pizza in Carpentersville. She loved Chicago Cubs Baseball and was a diehard Cubs Fan. She was a loving mother and was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Helene is survived by her four children, Laurie Swanson of Lake in the Hills, Karen Dorgan of Algonquin, Susan (Larry) Swanson of Lake in the Hills and Mark (Debbie) Dorgan of Huntley; her seven grandchildren, Derek, Howie, Erica, Erin, Susie, Tara and Darren; one great granddaughter, Natalie.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens in West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Thaddeus Walter Tecza
Thaddeus Walter Tecza, 60, of Elgin passed away February 19, 2004. He was born on February 9, 1944 in Chicago, IL and was the son of Adam and Stella (Niemiec) Tecza.
Ted was a resident of Elgin for eight years, and the Fox Valley area for 30 years. He achieved his Bachelors in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois, Valedictorian, in 1967. Ted was the President/Owner of Tecza Environmental Group. His passions were foremost his family, poetry, gardening, and golf.
He was a member of the Illinois Landscape Contractor's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Small) Tecza of Elgin; his children, Adam (Michelle), Beth, and Aaron Tecza; his stepchildren, Caitlyn and Taylor Rohlfing, Kenya Carver, and Paul Nastali; his grandchildren, Megan, Ashley, Matthew, Joshua, Kylie, and Trey.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church on Highland Ave. in Elgin. Burial will be private in the Prairie cemetery, St. Charles, IL. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
Robert Warren Bartholomew
Robert Warren Bartholomew, 89, of Naples, FL., and formerly of Elgin, IL., passed away on Monday, February 21, 2005 in Naples, FL.
He was born December 17, 1915 in South Beloit, IL., the son of the late Warren and Kathryn Anselman Bartholomew.
For many years Mr. Bartholomew owned and operated Bartholomew Service Station in Elgin, IL., before moving to Florida in 1984.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Erma Hermreck Bartholomew, whom he married
on January 27, 1940. He is also survived by three children, Laurence (Nancy) Bartholomew of Chester, N.J., Joan (Roy) Sample of Genoa, IL., and Edward (Cheryl) Bartholomew of Elgin, IL; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Howard.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 25, 2005 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd. Inurnment will follow in St. Peter Columbarium.

William R. "Bill" Mogler
William R. "Bill" Mogler, 85, of Elgin passed away Friday, February 25, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born on June 5, 1919 in Elgin, and was the son of William and Helen (Hood) Mogler. Bill graduated from Elgin High School in 1938, and served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He had worked for the Courier News as a Pressman many years prior to his retirement.
Member and longtime Usher at St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin. Member of the American Legion Post #57. Member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #799.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Jane to whom he married
on Dec. 12, 1945; two sister-in-laws, Mary (James) Leithren and Patricia (Thomas) Mainelli; two brother-in-laws, George and John E. (Geraldine) Bedwell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Mogler.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin, with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. in the church until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the St. Laurence Renovation Fund.
Manuel D. J. Beltran
Manuel D. J. Beltran, age 42, of Elgin, IL. died Sunday, February 24, 2002 in Elgin. Born October 31, 1959 in Lares, Puerto Rico to Hermino Beltran and Ana Celia Pagen. He had been employed as a commercial fiberglass installer in the construction industry.
He is survived by his mother in Puerto Rico; two sons, Manuel H. Beltran of Maine and Xavier D. J. Beltran of Elgin; a daughter, Veronica L. Beltran of Elgin; four brothers, Jose Luis Beltran, David (Abigail) Beltran and Audeliz Beltran, all of Puerto Rico and Edgardo Beltran of New Jersey; two sisters, Rosa (David) Beltran and Carmen (Gregory) Beltran, both of Puerto Rico; also his loving soul mate, Adin Rodriguez of Elgin.

Arlene Greve
Arlene Greve (nee Keisler) was born on December 11, 1922 in Dundee, Illinois to August and Christine (nee Miller) Keisler. She was baptized into the family of Christ shortly after birth. She was confirmed into the Christian faith in 1943. On November 10, 1943, Arlene was joined in Holy Matrimony to Kenneth Greve. Their union was blessed with four children, Dennis, Lee, Gloria, and Dwight. Arlene and Kenneth farmed for many years in Hampshire, IL. In 1964, Kenneth received a call from the Lord to serve Him at which time they left the farm and moved to Milwaukee. She played an integral role in their joint ministry at Immanuel and Mission of Christ Lutheran Churches and the SOS Center. Arlene was a true servant of the Lord and though she never sought recongnition, Lutherans of Wisconsin honored her as Lutheran Woman of the Year in 1991.
Arlene went home to be with her Lord on February 24, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth; children, Dennis (Drewnita), Lee (Wendy), Gloria (Kevin) and Dwight; grandchildren, Scott (Bonnie) and Joshua Greve, Casey and Alison McGrath and Arryl and Peresha McCall; three great-grandchildren; also two brothers, LaVerne (Alice) and Lloyd (Monica) Keisler and the many people whose lives Arlene touched with her love.
The Celebration of Eternal Joy for Arlene will be held at Sherman Park Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 3, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. The Reverend Marvin Griffin will officiate. Visitation will be at Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W. Capitol Dr., on Saturday, March 2 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and at Sherman Park Lutheran Church, 2703 N. Sherman Blvd., Milwaukee from 12:30 to 2 P.M. on the day of the service. A Christian interment will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Monday, March 4 at 10:00 A.M. This will be the temporary resting place of her remains until the resurrection of all flesh when her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, returns with power and glory to judge the world. Until that time, we know from Scripture that Arlene's soul rejoices with her Lord in Heaven. To God be all glory!

Alexander Merrill
Alexander Merrill, 85, of Dundee Township died Monday, February 25, 2002 at his home.
He was born in Chicago on February 11, 1917, the son of Clemant and Nadezda (nee Balai) Merutka.
He was a 36 year resident of Dundee Township, a former 45 year employee of People's Energy. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katherine H. (nee Riedl) Merrill; three children, Carolyn McCrady of Gary, Indiana, David (Becky) Merril of Palatine and Pamela Merrill of Elgin; four grandchildren, Clayton (Sally) Rasmussen, Kate Merrill, Sarah Merrill and Kenny Rasmussen; three brothers, John Merutka of Arizona, James (Emily) Merutka of Chicago and Peter Merutka of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Nicholas and Walter.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 6 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 PM until time of Service in the funeral home.
Bernice Schrauf
Bernice Schrauf of Arlington, Virginia, formerly of Elgin, Illinois, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 after a courageous five-year fight with cancer. She was the widow of Charles Raymond Schrauf, a long-time officer with the Union National Bank of Elgin.
She was born September 9, 1920 in Cicero, Illinois, and was raised in the Lutheran Orphan Home in Addison, Illinois, affiliated with St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Addison. Her mother had died when she was six months old, and her father also when she was a child. She was a graduate of St. Paul's Lutheran School, Addison.
In her early teens she moved to Elgin. She became an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and worked as a domestic for families from the church in Elgin, and a family in Park Ridge. It was in the Walter League youth group at St. John's where she met Ray. After their marriage in 1944 - a marriage that spanned 54 years - she worked for the First National Bank of Elgin. She was employed by Schock's Florists in Elgin in the 1960s and '70s. After Ray's retirement in the early '80s, they moved to Wisconsin Dells, WI; and then to Baraboo, WI.
Following Ray's death in July, 1999, she moved to Arlington, Virginia to live near her daughter, where they were active members of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Arlington. She was proud of her son, John, a Captain for United Airlines; her daughter, Linda, and her accomplishments as a musician, and professionally in Washington, D.C. at NumbersUSA.com; and her daughter-in-law, Marita, a teacher with the Elgin schools for 24 years. Bernice will be remembered most for her positive spirit and her steadfast faith.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, at 1:00 P.M. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. Inurnment River Valley Memorial Gardens, Dundee, IL. Geraldine D. Skweres
Geraldine D. Skweres, age 72, of Hampshire, passed away Monday, February 25, 2002 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. She was born September 15, 1929 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Susan Horan. She had been a resident of Hampshire for the past 15 years. She was a Registered Nurse and had been employed by Hines Hospital, Lutheran General Hospital, Resurrection Hospital, Americana Nursing Center, Elgin and Christ the King Nursing Home in West Chicago before retiring.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Hampshire and also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Hampshire.
She is survived by two daughters, Geralyn (Raymond) Skeins of Belding, MI and Madonna Skweres of Chicago; a son, Terrence Skweres of Salem, WI; four grandchildren, Sean, John Patrick, Lauren and Brianne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene A. in 1999; two sisters, Betty Horan and Jeanne Box.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2002 at 9:15 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in St. Charles Borromeo Church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Lois J. Cheperka
Lois J. Cheperka, 68, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2003 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX after a brave and long battle with leukemia.
She was born January 31, 1934 in Roselle, IL, the daughter of Emil and Alma Becker.
She married
John Cheperka, and they were blessed with Pam and Steve. She had been a long time resident of Elgin. She worked at a private grocery store for many years and then worked as a communication operator for the City of Elgin Police and Fire Departments until she retired in April 1990. At that time she moved to Texas and worked for Caremark. She moved to Hayward, WI in 1993 and then back to Rockport, TX in 2001.
Lois enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, folk art painting, gardening, and she was a master at counted cross stitch. She was cheerful and fun loving, a joy to be around. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. We will carry her in our hearts forever.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Charles) Climer of San Antonio, TX; son Stephen Cheperka of San Antonio, TX; a sister Mary (Arthur) Aevermann of Mountain Home, AR; brother Richard (Karen) Becker of Elgin, IL; long time companion Ferdinand Pasholk of Rockport, TX; grandchildren, Kacy Kirkpatrick, Candice Dubose and husband Mark of San Antonio, Jennifer, Stephen and Summer Cheperka of Elgin; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Austin Dubose of San Antonio; a niece, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003 in the Holy Trinity Church, 357 Division Street, Elgin, IL with Pastor Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Roselle, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
