Genevieve C. Wilson
Genevieve C. Wilson, 83, of St. Charles died Thursday, February 27, 2003 at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva.
She was born January 20, 1920 in St. Charles and lived in the area all her life.
Mrs. Wilson was a life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Charles, a member of the Church Council, Chairman of the Evangelism Committee for many years, a Sunday School teacher, member of the church choir, President of Lutheran Church Women, Secretary of Illinois Lutheran Church Women, retreat leader of Lutheran Church Women for Illinois, member of the League of Women Voters, member of Human Relations Board and member of the LSSI Cornerstone Foundation. She was an active member of AFS, Foreign Exchange Students and had students stay at their home, was active in the Bethel Christian School in the Garfield Park area of Chicago, was active with Bethpage Missions in Axtell, NE, Wednesday Night Alive and member and former officer for P.E.O. Genevieve was President of the Secretary's Association of the St. Charles School District and held various offices in the P.T.A. She did volunteer work for many community activities. Genevieve and her husband, Everett, were Lutherans of the Year in the Chicago Area in 1987.
Prior to her marriage, she was a secretary at Hawley Products Co. for seven years. She and Everett were united in marriage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church November 7, 1942. After raising their children, she became a secretary at the Administration Offices of School District #303 for 12 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Marcia (Jerald) Borgie of San Diego, CA and Linda (Richard) Swenson of Menomonie, WI; a son, J. Craig (Linda) Wilson of Bloomington, MN; two sisters, Marion Kurtz of Stoughton, WI and Olive (Edward) Latimer of Aurora, IL; a brother, Glen (Minette) Ekstrom of Batavia, IL; six grandchildren, Roderick (Suzie) and Benjamin Borgie, Adam (Maureen) and Matthew Swenson and Jennifer and Sarah Wilson; a great grandson, Andrew Borgie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her parents, Otto and Ellen Ekstrom; an infant daughter, Carol Lynn Wilson; an infant brother, Paul Ekstrom; and her sister, Barbara Ekstrom.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Charles. Burial will be in Union cemetery, St. Charles.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles.

M. Dorothy Brooks
M. Dorothy Brooks, age 91, of Elgin, died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. She was born April 21, 1913 in Plato Township, Illinois to Ernest F. and Rose A. Yurs.
Mrs. Brooks retired from Hoffer Plastics in South Elgin and was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church in North Carolina.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by a son, Charles (Diane) of Grangeville, Idaho; a daughter, Virginia Brooks of Elgin; two brothers, Don (Helene) Yurs of Plato Center, Illinois and William (Marilyn) Yurs of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; a sister, Alice Arians of Plato Center, Illinois; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forrest; a daughter, Linda Darling; a son, Dale Brooks and her brother, Charles Yurs.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St. (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt.25), St. Charles, Illinois. Interment will be at Lakewood cemetery, Elgin, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
Harlene Cruse
Harlene Cruse, age 67 of Elgin, formerly of Anna, died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 11:16 AM at Sherbrooke Village in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on June 25, 1937 in Anna, IL, the daughter of Harlin and Lucille (Stokes) Cruse.
Harlene was a retired cook at the Elgin Mental Health Center, and attended the Bayless Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO.
She is survived by one brother, Gary "Buddy" (Charlene) Cruse of St. Louis; cousins, Trish, Theresa, Susan, Robbie, Keith and Paul; uncle, Rip (Gloria) Stokes of Carbondale; three nieces, Karen Flachs, Pamela Cruse and Nancy Schmitz, all of St. Louis, MO; and two great-nieces and two great-nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Joe Aldridge officiating. Interment will be in the McGinnis cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2005 after 10:00 AM until the Funeral hour at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Ruth Mary (Fischer) Swenson
Ruth Mary (Fischer) Swenson, 58, of Manawa, WI since 1998, formerly a lifelong resident of the Dundee/Carpentersville area, died Monday, February 28, 2005.
She was born July 4, 1946, in Chicago, IL to Clarence M. and Margaret M. Fischer. She married
Dan Swenson on October 21, 1996. She always enjoyed being a homemaker, especially taking care of the outdoor yard work and her vegetable garden and flowers.
Survivors include her husband Dan; one daughter, Tammy Jean Proctor of Elgin; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Crystal, Rebecca and Barbara, all of Elgin; two great-grandchildren; two nieces, Deborah Henry and Rita Petersen; two nephews, Jason Rich and Chad Aldis; one great-niece, Melissa Ann; two sisters, Darlene (Vernon) Petersen of Crystal Lake and Cathy (Jeff) Wroga of Carpentersville and one brother, Anthony (Tony) Fischer of Algonquin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Richard B. Collins
Richard B. Collins, 65, of Elgin died Friday, February 28, 2003 at home after a short illness.
He was born November 6, 1937 in Rock Island, IL, the son of Burr and Lornabelle Collins.
Richard graduated from the University of Illinois in Accounting where he was named a Bronze Tablet Scholar and from the Illinois School of Law in 1962, receiving the Order of the Coif. He joined the law firm of Kirkland, Brady, McQueen & Martin where he practiced law until retiring in 1990 for health reasons. He had been a member of the Kane County, Illinois, and American Bar Associations. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, serving since 1981 and was recently made an Honorary Life Director. He served on the Board at Oakcrest Residence for 20 years and as President twice during those years. He also served on the Board of the Ecker Center for Mental Health as well as the Heart Association of Northern Illinois. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, where he sang in the choir for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suzanne (Althoff) Collins, they married
on August 15, 1959 and had three children, Wendy (Richard) Smith of Lilburn, Ga, Christopher (Gretchen) Collins of Elgin, IL and Jennifer (Stephen) Frantz of Powell, OH; five grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Collins of San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be on Monday, March 3, 2003 at 4:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Elgin. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakcrest Residence or the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

Ronald Dean Galbraith
Ronald Dean Galbraith, 71, of Elgin, Illinois passed away Friday, February 28, 2003.
Born in Elgin on May 7, 1931 to Raymond and Gertrude (Cremeens) Galbraith.
Ronnie was a sergeant in the United States Marines during the Korean War. After Korea, Ronnie returned to Elgin where he was in business with his father owning and operating Galbraith & Son Trucking. During that time, he was a member and active in the Northend Elgin Business Association. Ronnie had retired from the construction business where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Elgin American Legion Post #57, the Elgin Riverside Club, the Elgin Owls Club and a past member of Midwest Operation Engineers Union Local #150. Ronnie was an avid hunter of deer, pheasant and quail and played golf in the American Legion Golf League.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (nee Schmitendorf) Galbraith, to whom he married
on June 13, 1986; his daughter, Vicki (David) Wilder of Hampshire; stepson, David Holmquist; step daughters, Roxanne Strickler and Candice Hansen; grandchildren, Alison (Kevin Kentgen) Chaney, Bridget Chaney, Melissa Wilder, Alicia (Scott) Lawson, Andrew (Sandy) Strickler, Alex Strickler, Dan (Kelly) Massa, Nicole (George) Bozilovic and Angela Hansen; great grandchildren, Kiya and Hunter Kentgen, Matthew Lawson and Alexander Strickler; his aunt, Madge Irby of Thompsonville, Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Frances Tolley.

Visitation will be Monday, March 3, 2003 from 4 to 8 PM and on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Donald T. Heath
Donald T. Heath, 72, of Elgin, IL died Friday, February 28, 2003 at Sherman Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1930 in Elgin to Clifford S. and Dolly (Perrin) Heath.
He was a life time resident of Elgin, former member of Elgin Turners, The Anvil Club and Musicians Union. He retired from Elgin Salvage & Supply Co. where he had worked for 15 years as their Comptroller/Vice-President.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella "Marcy" (Anselment) Heath, whom he married
on September 28, 1975; daughters, Connie (John) Johnson of Plant City, FL, Pam (Jeff) Reuter of South Elgin, Beth (Jim) Steele and Melanie (Dennis) Tillman both of Elgin; a son, Joe Wise of Elgin; sisters, Violet Schuelke and Betty Jones both of Elgin; grandsons, Larry, Brian, Mitch and Weston; granddaughters, Brenda, Jamie and Megan; three great grandsons; and three great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bob and Niece Besler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Larry and David; sisters, Virginia Hardway, Marjorie Brown, Winifred Harris, Beverly Gutierrez; and a brother, Richard Heath.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Monday, March 3, 2003 at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Thomas Niermann of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Sunday at the chapel

Arlene Marion Anderson Jacob
Arlene Marion Anderson Jacob, B.S.N., 79, died February 21, 2003 at home in Charles Town, W.V. under hospice care surrounded by her family, after waging a long and courageous battle against breast cancer. She was born September 11, 1923 in Elgin, IL, and for many years had homes in both Dundee, IL and Castle Rock Lake, WI. Arlene graduated from St. Francis College in Joliet, IL and retired in 1988 from the Psychiatric Nursing staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin.
She leaves behind her spouse of 59 years, John Pilcher Jacob of Charles Town, five sons, John Arno Jacob and wife Jean of San Lorenzo, CA, Kevin Michael Jacob of Carpentersville, IL, Marc Alan Jacob and wife Vya of Chambery, France, Robert Joseph Jacob of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Gregory Paul Jacob and wife Michelle of Reynoldsburg, OH, and one daughter, Ann Katharine Kiss Smith and husband Gary of Charles Town.
The bereaved include her grandchildren, Kellie Jean Livermore and husband Tony, John Dieter Jacob and wife Dee, Stacie Marie Jacob and Marcie Lynn Jacob in California, her granddaughter, Deborah Rose Jacob Kiss at home, her step-grandson Brian Cody Smith in Pennsylvania, her grandson Aaron John Jacob in Florida, her grandsons Ryan and Christopher Jacob in Ohio, and her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Ashlie Livermore in California. She is also survived by three sisters, Bernice Grams of Dundee, IL, Ruth Watzlawick of Appleton, WI, and Dora Sanders of South Elgin, IL, her brother-in-law, Richard E. Jacob and wife Janet of Vernon Hills, IL, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Therese Jacob, her parents Harry and Gerda (Larson) Anderson, a brother Clarence Anderson and a sister E. Lucille Fay.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town. Interment will be a private ceremony at the Arlington National cemetery in Virginia.
Doris L. Julian
Doris L. Julian, 72, of South Elgin passed away Sunday, February 23, 2003 in her home.
She was born June 2, 1930 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of John and Evelyn Johnson Lindgren.
Doris graduated from Sycamore High School, Sycamore, IL, in 1948. She had been a 45 year resident of South Elgin.
Survivors include four children, Jane Julian (Brett) Gosney of Durango, CO, Nancy (Nathan) Linhart of St. Charles, IL, Amy (Andy) Prickett of Elgin, IL and John R. Julian of Dillon, CO; seven grandchildren, Gina, Chelsea, Megan, Jesse, Sam, Travis and Natalie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John J. Julian in 1993.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 7 PM in the Christ Community Church, Corner of Randall Rd and Bolcum Rd, St. Charles, IL. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
