Thomas H. Roby
Thomas H. Roby, age 82, of Montgomery, IL, formerly of St. Charles, passed away suddenly, after a brief illness, Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. He was born April 9, 1922 in Windsor, IL to Ralph and Alma (nee Storm) Roby. In 1949, he was united in marriage to his wife, Mary Lou Drought.
Mr. Roby graduated from Windsor High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp for four years, stationed in Hawaii and a member of the Marine Corp League. He was a life time member of the VFW. He was baptized and a former member of Grace Methodist Church in Elgin, IL. He was a member of the Kane County Farm Bureau and the Labors Local #582. Since 1973, he worked for the Kane County Flea Market and was active at the Kane County Fair with the 4-H Club. He also worked for Midwest Ground Cover for 10 years, before his retirement. In his retirement, he lived at the Anderson Farms Retirement Center in Montgomery, where his friendly and helpful ways made many new and lasting friendships.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou; a son, Steven Roby of Sugar rove, IL; a brother, William Roby of Freeport, IL; six grandchildren, Timothy Johnson, Christopher (Claudia) Roby, Matthew (Kristen) Johnson, Nicholas (Brandy) Johnson, Jason Roby and Stephanie Johnson; great-grandchildren, Dillon Roby, Monica Johnson, Amya Johnson, Jason Carrington, Parker Johnson, Clayton Stilin, Brittany Dieter, Dustin Dieter; a nephew, Keith Eckerson and his sons, Brandon and Chase; two nieces, Kimberly Elkerson (Don) Rhodes and their daughter, Cassandra, Kathy (David) Matison and their four children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pamela Johnson; daughter-in-law, Susan (nee Janik) Roby; and two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Kissane and Nancy Jo Eckerson.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 2nd at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles, IL. Rev. Dennis Ammons, officiating. Burial will be at Lincoln cemetery, Aurora, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the family. For Info: (630) 584-0060.

Ruth Mary (Fischer) Swenson
Ruth Mary (Fischer) Swenson, 58, of Manawa, WI since 1998, formerly a lifelong resident of the Dundee/Carpentersville area, died Monday, February 28, 2005.
She was born July 4, 1946, in Chicago, IL to Clarence M. and Margaret M. Fischer. She married Dan Swenson on October 21, 1996. She always enjoyed being a homemaker, especially taking care of the outdoor yard work and her vegetable garden and flowers.
Survivors include her husband Dan; one daughter, Tammy Jean Proctor of Elgin; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Crystal, Rebecca and Barbara, all of Elgin; two great-grandchildren; two nieces, Deborah Henry and Rita Petersen; two nephews, Jason Rich and Chad Aldis; one great-niece, Melissa Ann; two sisters, Darlene (Vernon) Petersen of Crystal Lake and Cathy (Jeff) Wroga of Carpentersville and one brother, Anthony (Tony) Fischer of Algonquin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is private for the family from 9 to 10 a.m. and for friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. (715) 258-4020.

Richard B. Collins
Richard B. Collins, 65, of Elgin died Friday, February 28, 2003 at home after a short illness.
He was born November 6, 1937 in Rock Island, IL, the son of Burr and Lornabelle Collins.
Richard graduated from the University of Illinois in Accounting where he was named a Bronze Tablet Scholar and from the Illinois School of Law in 1962, receiving the Order of the Coif. He joined the law firm of Kirkland, Brady, McQueen & Martin where he practiced law until retiring in 1990 for health reasons. He had been a member of the Kane County, Illinois, and American Bar Associations. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, serving since 1981 and was recently made an Honorary Life Director. He served on the Board at Oakcrest Residence for 20 years and as President twice during those years. He also served on the Board of the Ecker Center for Mental Health as well as the Heart Association of Northern Illinois. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, where he sang in the choir for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suzanne (Althoff) Collins, they married on August 15, 1959 and had three children, Wendy (Richard) Smith of Lilburn, Ga, Christopher (Gretchen) Collins of Elgin, IL and Jennifer (Stephen) Frantz of Powell, OH; five grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Collins of San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be on Monday, March 3, 2003 at 4:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Elgin. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakcrest Residence or the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

Theresa E. Faber
Theresa E. Faber nee Halas, 75, a 50 year Bartlett resident passed away March 1, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born December 24, 1927 in North Chicago, IL.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerald A., daughters Cheryl (Jorge) Phillips of Bartlett, Sandra (Philip) Pliskin of Long Grove, Lynn (Craig) Fowler of Rice Lake, WI and Susan (Ron) Johnson of Bartlett. Dear sister of Rose Howard, James Timchac, Marie Hollenbeck and the late Michael Halas and Irene Dalton. Four grandchildren, Carlton Fowler, Andrew Fowler, Michelle Pliskin and Joey Pliskin.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 9:15 a.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett to St. Peter Damian Church with 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin. Visitation will be Tuesday 3 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Theresa's name. Darlene G. Adoski
Darlene G. Adoski, 65, of South Elgin passed away Monday, February 28, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born May 4, 1939 in Chicago the daughter of Frank and Florence Schroeder Caldarona. She had been a resident of Palatine for several years before moving to South Elgin in 2004. She was employed by Jewell Food Stores before retiring.
Surviving are three daughters, Julie (Dave) Drake of Arlington Heights, Joy (Gary) Hyman of South Elgin, Jill (Dave) Thomas of Crystal Lake; seven grandchildren, Alyssa and David Drake, Lauren Sisto, D.J. and Randy Thomas, Jennifer and David Hyman; great-granddaughter, Jordan; one sister, Elaine (Tom) Sroka of Florida; one brother, Chuck Caldarona of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Geri Pollock.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 NOON until 4:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Kenneth H. Bayer
Kenneth H. Bayer, 87 of Elgin, IL. passed away February 19, 2005 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Born March 20, 1917 in Whitewater, WI. Son of Clarence and Jesse (Rohlof) Bayer.
Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin. Graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1936. Employed with Geneva and St. Charles Kitchens until retirement in 1980. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
Survivors included his wife, Phyllis (Grow) Bayer, two daughters, Lin (Rick) Slouf of Aurora, Debi Sessums of Florida. Two step-daughters, Donna (Robert) Huffstutler of Elgin and Mary (Mark) Pillnik of Cary and one sister, Jean (Paul) Larson of Elgin. Grandchildren, Heather and Jeff Slouf, step-grandchildren, Kari (Jason) Lamey, Averie (Mike) Page, Ryan Went and Megan Huffstutler. Many nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by parents, first wife, Dolores and one brother, Clarence Bayer.
Private services were held at Madison Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial was private. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to Elgin Golden K. Club. There was no visitation.

Louis "Pete" Stassen Cook
Louis "Pete" Stassen Cook 77 of Algon-quin. He died February 28, 2005.
Husband of Martha Cook nee Whitmarsh. Father of Sue Beth (Eric) Gustafson, George (Melodee) Cook, Danyce (Fred) Becker, Priscilla (Mark) Dickman, Peter (Lori) Cook, and Agnes (Carl) Viard. Grandfather of 21 and Great Grandfather of 3. Brother of Richard (Margaret) Cook, Marion Manning, and Billy Gates.
He was an Elder at Meadowdale Gospel Chapel.

Kenneth R. Henderson
Kenneth R. Henderson, 56, of Elgin, passed away after a toughly fought battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 24, 1948 in Ontarioville, IL the son of Ralph and Gertrude Henderson.
He married his wife Janice on June 25, 1983. Ken served his country proudly in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. He was a 25 year employee at Hoffer Plastics, South Elgin; and most recently employed at American Cylinder Testing in Genoa. Ken was known to many as a very gentle, cheerful man, always with a smile, and having the ability to fix anything. He was a member of David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI.
Ken will be deeply missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; his step-children, Kevin Hiatt of South Elgin, and Kim (Dave) Bialaszewski and granddaughters, Chelsey and Kayla of Hamilton, OH; his sisters, Lynda (Ron) Rovelstad of South Elgin and Marcia (Gary) Kropuenske of Fairmount, IN; his sister-in-law, Julie Henderson of Huntley; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ralph (Pug) and Rodger (Buck).
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Shank officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services in the funeral home on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. LaFox, South Elgin, IL 60177.

Ruth C. Lamz
Ruth C. Lamz, 80, of Elburn died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, IL.
She was born on May 19, 1924 in Bloomingdale the daughter of the late George and Irene Burke Rentner.
She was a devoted and beloved wife of Eldon A. Lamz whom she married on August 22, 1944 in Wheaton.
Dedicated and devoted mother of Dale, David, Duane, Darlene, Daniel (Lisa) Lamz, and Debbie (Rock) Walsh; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert "Bob" Rentner. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Merrie Lamz and a sister-in-law, Jean Rentner.
Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson Ave., Hampshire, IL 60140 Father Joe Nicolosi Celebrant.
Interment will be private.
Masses in her name would be appreciated.

Dolores Broberg Nelson
Age 84, of rural Elburn, formerly of Montgomery, IL, passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 28, 2005, at Provena Mercy Center Hospital, Aurora, IL. Dolores came to the end of her struggle and releasing the hands and hearts of those who so lovingly cared for her here; she took the hand of her Savior and quietly went home.
Dolores was born April 29, 1920, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of William E. and Irene A. Broberg. She grew up in Elgin, IL, where she attended local schools graduating from Elgin High School with the class of 1938. She went on to attend Moser School of Business in Chicago during which time she worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. Dolores was a shorthand expert which prepared her well for being employed as an executive secretary.
She met Lester Nelson on a blind date and after a whirlwind courtship they were united in marriage on November 29, 1941, in Elgin, IL. They made their home in Aurora for a time until 1955, when they moved to Batavia where Lester owned the Aero Tube Fabricating Company. Dolores assisted Lester with the business while being a stay-at-home mom. Later, she worked at National Electronics in Geneva until the early 1980's when she became head of Central Purchasing at the Kane County Government Center in Geneva, where she was employed until her retirement.
Dolores served as president of the Bardwell School Parent Teachers Assoc., co-sponsored the Methodist Youth Fellowship, Batavia with her husband, and served as a Cub Scout Den mother. She was a member of The Gardens Homeowners Association, president for two years and secretary for 26 years; an active member of the Kendall County Republican Party and served as a board member for the Kendall/Grundy County Educational Service Region. Dolores volunteered at Hesed House Homeless Shelter, Aurora; volunteered as secretary for the Fox Valley Hospice; the League of Women voters, as well as a member of the Nineteenth Century Woman's Club of Oswego and the Church of the Good Shepherd, Oswego.
Dolores was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of needlework, she loved to cook and share the things she baked with others. She and Lester often enjoyed going out for dinner.
She is survived by three children: Jeffrey C. (Gina) Nelson of Lincoln, IL, Stevie (Rowland) Bateman of Elburn, IL, and Eric G. (Dottie) Nelson of Middlebury, VT; five grandchildren: Kent (Lea) Bateman of Yorkville, IL, Philip (Amy) Bateman of Elburn, IL, Dan (Angie) Bateman of Kaneville, IL, Leah Nelson of Middlebury, VT, and Sarah Nelson of Lincoln, IL; five great-grandchildren: Travis and Ryan, Anna and Melanie, and Mitch; her loving caregivers, Maria Teran and Sandy Smith; and a special family friend, Wally Mills, as well as five nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; one sister, Laurene A. Brown and two grandchildren, James Bateman and Kristin L. Nelson.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL. Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th at the funeral home. The Rev. Fred Eisenhut, pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd, United Methodist, Oswego, will officiate. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
Memorials in Dolores' name may be made to the Fox Valley Hospice or the Church of the Good Shepherd and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
