Loretta Poley
Loretta Poley, age 83, of Elgin passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at her home. Born August 4, 1921 in Chicago, IL, where she resided most of her life. She has resided in Elgin for eight years. She was a seamstress, dance instructor and worked in home improvement.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne (Alice) Lemon of Elgin and Harold Dean (Sandy) Lemon of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Dianna, Jason, Dawn and Kyle; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Mary Polse (Pape)
Ruth Mary (Pape) Polse, 91 of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born May 27, 1913 in Jefferson Township, Dubuque County, Iowa the daughter of Peter and Nellie (Doran) Pape.
Survivors include: Daughter, Annette (Polse) Peterson of Chicago; Son, Dr. Alan (Toni) Polse of Elgin; Sister, Mae (Pape) Golden of Rockford; Grandchildren, Julie Anne Polse of Mundelein and Anthony Alan Polse of Chicago.
preceded in death by her parents; husband Ferdinand-Polse who died on January 19, 1989.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 4 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Laurence Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will follow in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of mass at St. Laurence. Stephen A. Tevis
Stephen A. "Steve" Tevis, 86, of Hampshire, IL and formerly of Youngstown, OH, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL.
He was born August 14, 1918 in Williamstown, PA to Stephen and Mary (nee Arendas) Tevis. Mr. Tevis was a retired baker, having been employed by Wonder Bakeries in Youngstown and was a member of Teamster's Local 19 in Cleveland, OH. He attended the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire where he was a member of the Golden Agers, and had previously been a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Youngstown for over 40 years.
Mr. Tevis was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army in the Pacific. He married
Anne E. Ferenchak on September 8, 1945. He enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball and football, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane (Toby) Nichols of Hampshire; son-in-law, Earl Whetstone, Sr. of San Jose, CA; two sisters, Irene (Lee) Clouse of Youngstown and Sr. Regina Tevis of Painesville, OH; one brother, Frank (Norma) Tevis of Boardman, OH; two grandsons, Earl Whetstone, Jr. of San Jose, CA and Jason Whetstone of Pleasanton, CA; two granddaughters, Julie and Carol Nichols of Hampshire, IL; and two great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anne of 52 years; his daughter, Rita Ann Whetstone; three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Friday, March 5, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Youngstown on Monday with burial in Calvary cemetery in Youngstown.

Earl Lee Trolson
Earl Lee Trolson, 92. of Blair, NE, formerly of Elgin, IL, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Carter House, in Blair, NE. He was born on June 19, 1912 in Elgin, and was the son of William and Cora (Lee) Trolson. Earl was a Self-employed auto trimmer. He had lived in Elgin all of his life, except the last three years in Blair. Earl was devoted to his family, and will be dearly missed by them.
He was a past member of the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, where he was past president of the Church Council and member of the Challengers. He was also a past member of the Elgin Elk's Lodge-BPOE #737.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Linda) Trolson of Blair; his grandchildren, Keri, Lisa, Amy; and great-grandson, Jayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vernetta; his son, Robert; and a sister, Ruth.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 10:30 AM in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, from 9:30 AM until the graveside service.

Louis "Pete" Stassen Cook 77 of Algon-quin. He died February 28, 2005.
Husband of Martha Cook nee Whitmarsh. Father of Sue Beth (Eric) Gustafson, George (Melodee) Cook, Danyce (Fred) Becker, Priscilla (Mark) Dickman, Peter (Lori) Cook, and Agnes (Carl) Viard. Grandfather of 21 and Great Grandfather of 3. Brother of Richard (Margaret) Cook, Marion Manning, and Billy Gates.
He was an Elder at Meadowdale Gospel Chapel.

Kenneth R. Henderson
Kenneth R. Henderson, 56, of Elgin, passed away after a toughly fought battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 24, 1948 in Ontarioville, IL the son of Ralph and Gertrude Henderson.
He married
his wife Janice on June 25, 1983. Ken served his country proudly in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. He was a 25 year employee at Hoffer Plastics, South Elgin; and most recently employed at American Cylinder Testing in Genoa. Ken was known to many as a very gentle, cheerful man, always with a smile, and having the ability to fix anything. He was a member of David's Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI.
Ken will be deeply missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; his step-children, Kevin Hiatt of South Elgin, and Kim (Dave) Bialaszewski and granddaughters, Chelsey and Kayla of Hamilton, OH; his sisters, Lynda (Ron) Rovelstad of South Elgin and Marcia (Gary) Kropuenske of Fairmount, IN; his sister-in-law, Julie Henderson of Huntley; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ralph (Pug) and Rodger (Buck).
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Shank officiating. Burial will be private. Susan L. Sandblom
Susan L. Sandblom, 61, of West Dundee died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the Sherman West Court in Elgin. She was born in Elgin on August 31, 1943. She was the daughter of Russell G. & Marion M. (nee McKee) Schmidt.
Susan was a life long resident of the Elgin-Dundee areas. She was a former many year employee of Wiebolts Department Store in the Meadowdale Shopping Center in Carpentersville and Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She is survived by her brother, Richard (Kathy) Schmidt of Aurora; her nephews, Jeremy (Keri) Schmidt of Nevada, Iowa and Timothy Schmidt of Genoa; her niece, Sheena (Edgar) Caballero of Aurora; her great nieces, Alexis, Lelani and Gabriella; her half-sister, Angela Schmidt of Genoa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Sandblom on July 29, 2002.
Private family gravesides services will be held Saturday in the Washington Reformed Presbyterian cemetery in Elgin.

Clayre M. Tully
Clayre M. Tully, 81, of Elgin died February 18, 2005 in Regency Medical Center, Bayonet Point near her winter home in New Port Richey.
She was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Longtime resident of Arlington Heights and Elgin.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Howard; a son, Thomas of Massachusetts; a daughter, Barbara Lee Petersen of Arlington Heights; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Marie Leone Healy
Marie Leone Healy, 89, of Elgin, passed away peacefully Friday, March 4, 2005 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 24, 1915 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Archie and Bertha (Herslow) Johnson.

Clement E. Healy and lived in the Elgin and Dundee area, all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin.
Survivors include her sons, Clement E. Healy, Jr., James R. (Sharon) Healy of West Dundee, and John V. Healy (Lynne) of Elgin; a daughter, Marlene (Healy) Brautthauer of Elgin; grandchildren Lynn, Russ, Craig and Eric Healy, Rick Brautthauer, Stephanie (Larry) Skube, Ryan Healy, Tiffany (Michael) Brown; step-grandchildren, Donna (Paul) Reynolds of Hampshire, and Keith VanNurden of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren, Grant William Skube; nephews, Mike and Tom Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clement Sr.; brother, Bob and a sister-in-law, Peggy Johnson; son-in-law, Ronald Brautthauer; and grandson, Todd Healy.

John "Jack" L. Melson
John "Jack" L. Melson, age 80, of Sugar Grove, formerly of St. Charles, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora, IL.
He was born August 23, 1924 in St. Charles, IL to Joseph and Hazel Melson. On March 20, 1954, he was united to Beverly Johnson at St. Patrick Church in St. Charles, IL.
Mr. Melson served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the St. Charles VFW Post #5036 and the St. Charles Moose.
Mr. Melson is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly; a daughter, Mari (Kevin) Johnson of Sugar Grove, IL; two grandsons, Timothy and Bradley; and a brother, Robert of Aurora, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Mary; a son, Randy in 1974; and a brother, William.

James Ash
James Ash, 73, of Elgin, left this world on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born June 21, 1931 in Mayhew, MS, the son of Jim and Cora Lee (Moye) Ash. James worked for Caterpillar in Aurora for 25 years, before his retirement in 1990. He attended New Community Baptist Church, where Servant George Rayford was his pastor.
Survivors include his children, Peggy Ash, Savannah (Brownette) Baldwin, Annie Boston, Johnnie Mae (Leonard) Williams, Mary (Larry) Roberts, all of Elgin, Gladys Marie Ash of Streamwood, Jamie (Clotel) Ash of Eastover, South Carolina; paternal brother, Henry Lee (Margie) Ash of Chicago; paternal sisters, Lillie Jones of Crawford, MS, Willie (Walter) Power of Gary, IN; and maternal sister, Savannah West of Elgin; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Barnaby P. Conrin
Barnaby P. Conrin, 74, of Belvidere, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005 in Sherman Hospital. He was born July 9, 1930 in Stewart, MN, the son of Thomas and Mae (Bell) Conrin.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0077 in Belvidere and the V.F.W. Post #295 in South St. Paul, MN.
Survivors include his wife Betty, whom he married
September 23, 1950 in South St. Paul, MN; daughters, Deborah Rumachik (Fiance', Donald Schreiber) of Chicago, Dr Paula (David) Conrin-Neybert of Elgin; son, Timothy (Janet) Conrin of South Elgin; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Kustelski of South St. Paul, MN, and Theresa Leyk of Avon, MN.
