Paul L. Frey
Paul L. Frey, 58, of Elgin, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born February 19, 1947 in Monongahela, PA, the son of Charles F. and Dorothy (Hoover) Frey.
He was a Sargent for the Glendale Heights Police Department for 29 years, before retiring in 1999. He worked part-time at the Grand Victoria Casino as a security guard, after his retirement.
Survivors include his sons, Daniel Raymond and Christopher Frey, both of DeKalb; sister, Jane (Donald) Rohdenburg of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas H. Frey.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 11:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with the Rev. Steve Srock, officiating. Burial will be private in Pennsylvania. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in his mane to Bowes Health Care Center.

Miguel Rodriguez
Miguel Rodriguez, 47, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005 in his home. He was born on September 8, 1957 in Elgin and was the son of Leonardo and Angela (Lopez) Rodriguez. Miguel was a Musician, and loved music.
Survivors include his fiancee', Susan Karp of Elgin; his mother, Angela Rodriguez of Elgin; his children, Erica Rodriguez, Robert Fletcher, Vanessa Lopez, and Rachel Rodriguez; six brothers and sisters, Angel (Zoraida), Jose (Nancy), Victor (Rosa) Rodriguez; Lidia (Robert) Reinhardt, Minerva (Frank) Gudino, all of Elgin, Carmen (Raul) Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2005.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM in the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin, IL 60120. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-9 PM in the Chapel.

Marcia Benicke
Marcia Benicke, age 62, of Bartlett, IL passed away on Monday, March 7, 2005 in Elgin. She was born on June 17, 1942 in Elgin.
She was a former employee (for 25 years) of Ackerman's Department Store in Elgin. She loved jigsaw puzzles and traveling.
She was the beloved daughter of Fritz and the late Vernetta (nee Thurnau) Benicke; loving sister of Pamela Fraas and the late Lynda Marth; dear aunt of Amy (Dan) Awe, Mike (Cheryl) Marth and Dan; fond great-aunt of Samantha, Brett, Ethan and Alden.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 S. Bartlett Rd (at Stearns Rd.), Bartlett, IL 60103. Visitation will also be at the funeral home from 11:00AM until time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2005. Burial will be at Bartlett cemetery in Bartlett, IL. Judy L. Cronin
Judy L. Cronin, 58, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born on April 25, 1946 in Chicago, IL, and was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Slamar. Judy was a graduate of Rosary College, and was the long time Parish Secretary at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin.
Active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her two children, Colleen (Keith) Sanderson of Elgin, IL and Kevin (Tracy) Cronin of New York, NY; a grandchild, Connor Sanderson of Elgin; her mother, Dorothy Slamar of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Patrick J. Cronin on November 3, 2003.
Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin, with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Private burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel cemetery, Palatine, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Elaine B. Kells
Elaine B. Kells, age 79, of Marengo, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock, IL. She was born in Chicago on January 2, 1926 the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Betty) King. One November 15, 1950 she married James Lee Kells Jr. in Chicago.
She is survived by two daughters, Patsy (Bill) Geraghty of Knox, IN, Karen (Tom) Sibigtroth of Marengo, IL; four grandchildren, Jaynie, Shelia, Michael and Erin; five great grandchildren, Bracelyn, Brett, Alyssa, Gabby and Mike; one great great granddaughter, Paige; one brother Robert King of Rockford, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband James on April 14, 2003
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy., Marengo. Visitation on Friday, March 11, 2005 will be from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Steven Bullmer will officiate. Interment will be private.

Jo Lynne Fitchie Kubis
Jo Lynne Fitchie Kubis, 49, of Sycamore, formerly of Elgin, passed away, after a courageous battle with diabetes Sunday, March 6, 20005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born May 17, 1955 in Elgin, the daughter of Donald and Merle Engelbrecht Fitchie.
Jo Lynne had been a resident of Elgin for many years and was a graduate of St. Edward High School in 1973. She had been employed at St. Joseph Hospital, before illness forced her to stop working.
She was a former member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, an avid sports fan and loved the Cubs and the Bears. She participated in softball as a pitcher as a young adult.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond G. Kubis, whom she married on October 4, 1986; one son, Russell "Rusty" Alan Kubis of Sycamore; her parents of Elgin; two brothers, David Fitchie (Cathy Gamble) of Elgin, and Dick Fitchie (Peggy Lathrop) of Elgin; one sister, Donna (Gordy) James of Sycamore; nephews and nieces, Paul Fitchie, Tracy James (Randy Burchard), Trisha (Ryan) Drake; great nephews, Kyle James, Tyler Drake; and a great-niece, Allie Drake; many aunts, cousins, friends, and a protective and faithful dog, "Baby".
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10, 2005 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will be in Ohio Grove cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Thursday from 10:30 AM, until the time of services in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rusty Kubis Education Fund, C/O/ EFS Bank, 1665 Larkin Ave., Elgin.

Arthur H. Leverenz
Arthur H. Leverenz, 84, of South Elgin, IL passed away March 2, 2005 after complications from a long-standing respiratory condition. He was born in Holloway, MN on July 9, 1920 to Herman and Amelia Bleich Leverenz.
He graduated from Bensenville H.S. in 1938 and from the Air Force Cadet School and Training in 1944 as a 2nd Lieutenant. Art served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1952 in WWII and the Korean War. As a 1st Lieutenant with the Flying Tigers, he flew 26 Combat Missions, several supply missions, brought in medical personnel to care for POW's behind enemy lines, and many evacuation missions. Arthur witnessed the end of WWII from China. He saw the sky turn an eerie purple at daybreak, later realizing it was the atomic bomb being released at Hiroshima. Art remained active with the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers throughout his life. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad at Union Station in Chicago from 1954 to 1957. For the next 25 years, he worked for Elgin School District U-46, retiring as Director of Operations and Maintenance.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Eadler, whom he married in 1968; three sons, Robert (Cindy) of Woodstock, IL, Jeffrey (Gail) of Lakewood, IL, and David of Grand Haven, MI. He also had seven grandchildren, Derrick, Daniel, Lauren, Noah, Jonah, Hope and Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Miller, Betty Benson and Ruth Aden.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 7:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with visitation from 4-9:00 PM. Burial with full military honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL, Friday, March 11, 2005 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Flying Tigers, 14th Air Force Assn. Museum Fund in memory of Arthur Leverenz.

Ruth J. Runge
Ruth J. Runge, age 94 of Clinton, WI formerly of Sugar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Encore Senior Villa in Clinton. She was born on June 20, 1910, in Iowa, the daughter of the late Otto and Marie (Hub) Rosenthal. She was united in marriage on June 7, 1928, to Carl C. Runge in Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1976. Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, and playing her Hawaiian guitar. She was a member of a Hawaiian Band.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith (Herman) Krunfus, Cherry Valley, IL, and Linda Studt, Edgerton, WI; two daughter-in-laws, Mary Runge, Elgin, IL, and Helen Runge, Yorkville, IL; twelve grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Richard Runge and John Otto Runge; and one daughter, Diane Ruth Koch; a son-in-law, Jerry Studt.
Private immediate family services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005, with Pastor Merlyn Bilhorn officiating. Ehlert Funeral Home, Edgerton, WI, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lorraine E. Whiteside
Lorraine E. Whiteside, 79, of Elgin, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005 in her home. She was born January 28, 1926 in Elgin, the daughter of James and Gertrude Gossman Schultz.
Lorraine was a graduate of St. Edward High School, class of 1944 and had been a resident of Elgin all of her life. She had been employed by LeeWards in Elgin and Elgin Industries, before retiring.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin.
Surviving are her two sons, James R. Schultz of Milwaukee, WI and Robert Wiggins of Elgin; one sister, Rosemary Schultz of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth, in infancy and her twin brother, Laurence E. Schultz.
Funeral Services will be held 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 10, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, Elgin. Burial will be private in Mount Hope cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 PM, until the time of services in the funeral home.
