Chester Klimas

Chester Klimas, 77, of Kankakee, died Thursday (May 23, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Inurnment will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
He was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Evanston, the son of Joseph and Helen Mackowski Klimas. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Bernice Jepsen, whom he married Dec. 17, 1946, in Kankakee, died Feb. 7, 2002.
Surviving are one son and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Ginger Klimas of Las Vegas, Nev., Karla Klimas of Green Bay, Wis.; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Rocky Soucie of Kankakee; two sisters, Stephanie Nowicki of Palos Hills, Mary Husmann of Chicago; and four grandchildren, Dawn Soucie of Bourbonnais, Ashley Klimas and Tyler Klimas, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Christian Klimas of Green Bay, Wis.
One son, Chester Klimas Jr.; two brothers; and one sister, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in the Philippines. He received the purple heart.
Mr. Klimas retired in 1986 from Manteno Mental Health Center.
He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and the Kankakee American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing.

Doris Myers

CRESCENT CITY -- Doris I. Myers, 91, of Crescent City, died today (May 24, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Arrangements are pending at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka.

Howard Gross
longtime janitor

CLIFTON -- Howard H. Gross, 85, of Clifton, died today (May 24, 2002) at his home.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gross was a longtime janitor at Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center. The children all called him "Mr. Green Jeans."
He was born April 29, 1917, in Brighton, Colo., the son of Otis and Eva Shambrook Gross.
Surviving are his wife, the former Winifred I. Todd, whom he married March 28, 1942, in Morris, of Clifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Rita Gross of Jefferson City, Mo., Wesley Lee and Vickie Gross of DelRey; three daughters and one son-in-law, Rose and Gary Buff of Clifton, JoAnn Kinneman of Jefferson City, Mo., Patricia Ann Quesnel of Shepherd, Mich.; one sister, Geneva Curtis of Paxton; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and LauraBelle Gross of Buckley; 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Harold; and one grandchild, are deceased.
He was a member of the Clifton Wesleyan Church.
He loved cycling.

Jim Emanuelson
Vietnam vet

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark -- Jim A. Emanuelson, 57, of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Coal City, died Wednesday (May 22, 2002) in Springdale, Ark.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel, Mountain Home. Brother Scott Bonk will officiate.
Memorials may be made to "Our Kids."
He was born April 20, 1945, in Coal City, the son of William and Sylvia Emanuelson.
Surviving are his wife, the former Donna Frey, whom he married Aug. 4, 1967; two brothers, William Emanuelson of California, Rick Emanuelson of Essex; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam war and a life member of the VFW.
Mr. Emanuelson was a truck driver and formerly operated a lawn care service in Illinois. After moving to the Mountain Home area in 1999 from Streator, he operated a fishing guide service and also owned and operated South Side Cafe.
He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, cooking and people.

Lena McKinney

Lena G. McKinney, 88, of Bourbonnais, died today (May 24, 2002) at Bradley Royale Health Care Center.
Arrangements are pending at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.

Loretta Trumann

MILFORD -- Visitation for Loretta I. Trumann, 68, of Milford, will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.
Burial will be in Sugar Creek cemetery, Stockland.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Trumann died Wednesday (May 22, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
She was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Elza and Dorothea Chandler Brown. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, John S. Trumann, whom she married in December 1949 in Greenup, Ky., of Milford; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Tony Roberts of Woodland; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth R. Sr. and Janice Trumann of Milford; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
One son, Jack Trumann, is deceased.
Mrs. Trumann enjoyed yard work and being a family caregiver.

Mary Payne

Visitation for Mary Lou Payne, 74, of Bradley, will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. James DeMent will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Mrs. Payne died Thursday (May 23, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1927, in Milks Grove Township, Iroquois County, the daughter of William F. and Hazel L. Contine Karnes.
Her husband, James Daniel "J.D." Payne, whom she married May 5, 1944, in Kankakee, died Dec. 3, 1976.
Surviving are one son and two daughters-in-law, Ron and Dianne Payne of Manteno and Kathy Payne of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Ruby Karnes of Bradley; and two grandsons.
One son, James Dale Payne, is deceased.
Mrs. Payne had worked at the Bear Brand and the Kankakee Foundry for many years. Most recently she had worked for her son at the Payne Sod Farm in Manteno.
She had been affiliated with Wesley United Methodist Church, Bradley. She was involved with the Senior Citizens of Kankakee.
She enjoyed playing bingo, card games, music and camping.

Patricia Redman

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Patricia Ann Redman, 65, of Watseka, will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Segur-Knapp Fuenral Home, Watseka, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Revs. Richard Reeder and Charles Bangs will officiate.
Burial will be in Prairie Dell cemetery, Iroquois.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Redman died Wednesday (May 22, 2002) in rural Iroquois.
She was born July 13, 1936, in Fowler, Ind., the daughter of Roy C. and Deloras M. Hall Holder. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Orie L. Redman Sr., whom she married April 3, 1988, in Windsor, Colo., died Nov. 9, 2001.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth A. Williamson of Larwill, Ind.; three stepsons, George and Annette Redman of No. Dakota, Frank and Delores Redman of Watseka, Richard and Vickie Redman of Altus, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Catherine and Jim Aper of Littleton, Colo., Dorothy and Kenneth Doran of Arvada, Colo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Mary Holder of Remington, Ind.; and many grandchildren.
One brother is deceased.
Mrs. Redman was a member of the First Christian Church in Watseka.

Harry Weakley

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Harry T. Weakley, 75, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Watseka, will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka. Rev. Joe Scheets will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside rites by the Watseka VFW and American Legion, will be in Prairie Dell cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Weakley died Friday (May 17, 2002) at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral.
He was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Woodland, the son of Harry B. and Eva Williamson Weakley. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Marjorie Samuelson, whom he married Feb. 2, 1947, in Watseka, died July 29, 1995.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Andrea Weakley of Ottawa; one daughter and son-in-law, Kittie and Salvatore Lamaritata of Cape Coral, Fla.; six grandchildren, Amy Cashman, Jason Blunck, Timothy Weakley, Kristopher Weakley, Emily Weakley and Erica Weakley; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick and Grace Cashman.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 33 of Ottawa.
Mr. Weakley had been a meat cutter at Quality Grocery in Watseka.

Lillian Anderson

MILFORD -- Lillian R. Anderson, 95, of Wheaton, formerly of Milford, died Sunday (May 19, 2002) at the DuPage County Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove cemetery, Milford. Rev. David Newton will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Milford United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Arrangements are by the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.
Miss Anderson was born May 30, 1906, in Momence, the daughter of August and Clara Embom Anderson.
Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Halleron of Sun City, Ariz., Mary Anderson of Milford; four brothers, Lester Anderson of O'Fallon, August "Pete" Anderson of Watseka, John Anderson and Sidney Anderson, both of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and four sisters are deceased.
Miss Anderson was a school teacher for over 50 years.
She enjoyed traveling.
