Lourine Hess
Lourine Hess, 84, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Kankakee, died Friday (May 3, 2002) in Sun City, after a short illness.
Services were held in Arizona.
She was born Feb. 23, 1918, the daughter of Samuel Ritchey and Sally Ritchey-Gagnon.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Hess, of Sun City; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Bonnie Hess of Arizona; one step-granddaughter, Andria; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews in the Kankakee area.
Four sisters, Katherine Ritchey, Barbara Coleman, Rosemary Mendenhall and Betty Mather, are deceased.
Mrs. Hess had worked at Volkmann Jewelers for many years.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed making crafts and going to garage sales.
Madeliene Belanger
Madeliene M. Belanger, 79, of Kankakee, died today (May 22, 2002) at Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home, Bourbonnais.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Saturday until the 5 p.m. services.
The Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
Rita Ringbauer
Rita D. Hopper Ringbauer of Manteno died Tuesday (May 21, 2002) at Manor Care Health Services, Kankakee.
Cremation rites were accorded.
There will be no visitation or services.
She was born Sept. 20, 1925, the daughter of Rex and Marie Cawley Hopper.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Joseph Ringbauer; three daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Larry Worley, Jane Ringbauer and Jacqueline Hensley; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph and Jodi Ringbauer and James Ringbauer; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Henry, Patricia Henry and Raymond Hopper.
One brother, Don Hopper, is deceased.
Ruby Pippin
Ruby B. Pippin, 94, of Bradley, died Tuesday (May 21, 2002) at Manor Care Healthcare, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Friday until the 1 p.m. services at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jim Williams will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bradley Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
She was born Jan. 22, 1908, in St. Anne, the daughter of Richard and Daisy Legg McKay.
Her husband, Lester Pippin, whom she married
Aug. 30, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo., died in April 1983.
Surviving are one stepson and daughter-in-law, William and Jan Pippin of Arizona; one step-daughter-in-law, Isabelle Pippin of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Ethel McKay of Kankakee, Anita Pippin of Bradley; 11 step-grandchildren, 19 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
One stepson, Edward; two sisters, Vera Petroune and Florence Brown; and one brother, Howard McKay, are deceased.
Mrs. Pippin had worked at Bear Brand.
She was very involved with church functions and activities.
Ruth Meyer

Ruth M. Meyer, 92, of Arcadia, Fla., formerly of Bonfield, died Monday (May 20, 2002) at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Steven Friese will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
She was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Salina Township, the daughter of Christian C. and Bertha Soucie Kukuck.
Surviving are her husband, Edwin L. Meyer, whom she married
Feb. 1, 1935, in Bonfield of Arcadia; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Mary Meyer of Arcadia, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Merritt Lawson of Darien, Virginia and Frank Young of Boone, N.C.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers; two half-brothers; and one half-sister, are deceased.
Mrs. Meyer had taught country school in Limestone Township.
She was a member of the Bonfield HEA and the United Methodist Women. She was also a 4-H leader.
She enjoyed gardening and reading.
Altha Tomlison
ROBERTS -- Altha Z. Tomlison, 94, of Roberts, died Monday (May 20, 2002) at the Gilman Nursing Home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. today at the Roberts Congregational Christian Church, where she was a member. Rev. Tom Jones officiated.
Burial was in Lyman Township cemetery, Roberts.
Memorials may be made to the Roberts Congregational Christian Church.
Mrs. Tomlison had been a licensed practical nurse for many years at the Gibson Area Hospital.
She was born June 12, 1907, in French Lick, Ind., the daughter of John and Nancy Ellen Apple Harrison.
Her first husband, Bloomer Walters, whom she married
Sept. 23, 1923, in French Lick, died March 18, 1947.
Her second husband, William Tomlison, whom she married
Aug. 28, 1960, died Sept. 25, 1993.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Jo Ann Walters, Doyle and Phyllis Walters, all of Roberts; one stepson, Jack Tomlison of Fairbury; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Bonita M. Seng; one granddaughter, Susie Walters; and eight brothers and sisters, are deceased.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.

PAXTON -- Betty J. Kunce, 74, of Paxton, and the mother of area residents, died Tuesday (May 21, 2002) at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in Union cemetery, Rankin.

Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana, is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Kunce was a licensed practical nurse at Care Hospital for 25 years and the postmaster in Clarence, Ill. for 20 years.
She was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Paxton, the daughter of Virgil J. Sr. and Hazel Horton Naugle.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley J. Kunce of Manteno, Ray Kunce of Paxton; one daughter, Peggy Ackman of Bourbonnais; one brother, Herb G. Naugle of Lander, Wyo.; and three grandchildren, Heather, Sarah and James Kunce.
One brother is deceased.
She was a graduate of Paxton High School.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Rantoul, and the Arthritis Foundation.

WATSEKA -- Charles B. Hines, 61, of Watseka, died today (May 23, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Arrangements are pending at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka.
Cleo Wright
ROBERTS -- Cleo A. Wright, 89, of Gibson City, died Wednesday (May 22, 2002) at the Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Lamb-Young Funeral Home, Roberts, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Roberts, where she was a member. Rev. Heidi Punt will officiate.
Burial will be in Lyman Township cemetery, Roberts.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the Gibson Area Hospital Annex.
She was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Saybrook, the daughter of Walter and Laura Moore Wills.
Her first husband, Berlen VanBlaracum, whom she married
March 15, 1932, in Saybrook, died Sept. 25, 1981.
Her second husband, Melvin Wright, whom she married
Jan. 5, 1985, in Roberts, died Aug. 9, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Lila Parsons of Thawville, Shirley and Charles Warlow of Roberts; four stepdaughters, Marsha English of Marion, Judy Peck of Virginia, Carla Almli of Champaign, Carolyn White of Mahomet; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; three brothers, her twin, Clement Wills of Bloomington, Wilbur Wills of Indianapolis, Ind., Carroll Wills of DeWitt; and four sisters, Frances Zebarth of Melvin, Ila Reckowsky of Paxton, Jean Wills of Piper City and Mary Lou Fogal of Arlington Heights.
Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Wright had lived in Gibson City, Elliott and the Roberts area all of her life.
Dorothy McCray
CISSNA PARK -- Visitation for Dorothy E. McCray, 79, of Cissna Park, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Cissna Park, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. John Lang will officiate.
Burial will be in Amity cemetery, Milford.

Mrs. McCray died Tuesday (May 21, 2002) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
She was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Milford, the daughter of Waldon and Doris Geddes Newman.
Her husband, Kenneth E. McCray, whom she married
June 16, 1940, in Hoopeston, died Aug. 6, 1993.
Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Judith and John Harris of Blossom, Texas, Carol McCray of Cissna Park, Jean and Dale Vogel of Hoopeston, Nancy and Paul Rich of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Donna McCray of Cissna Park, Randy and Rebecca McCray of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Jim and Sandy McCray of Claytonville; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Delores Newman of Milford; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Bernice Wolfe; and one son, Ronald McCray, are deceased.
She attended United Brethren Church of Claytonville.
Mrs. McCray had written short stories.
