CISSNA PARK -- Services for Nettie G. Scharlach, 95, of Cissna Park, were held May 13 at Apostolic Christian Church, Cissna Park. Ministers of the church officiated.
Miss Scharlach died May 10, 2002.
Burial was in Apostolic Christian cemetery, Cissna Park. Pallbearers were Jon, Zach and Nathan Anderson, R. Paul and J. Paul Martin and Tim Scharlach.
Alma Hartman
CHICAGO HEIGHTS -- Alma Hartman, 90, of Chicago Heights, formerly of Woodworth, died Monday (May 13, 2002) at Prairie Manor Healthcare Center, Chicago Heights.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Fred C. Hub Memorial Chapel, Chicago Heights and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago Heights, where she was a member.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Flossmoor.

She was born Nov. 3, 1911 in Woodworth.
Her husband, Arthur Hartman, died in 1984.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Mervin R. Oswald of Chicago Heights; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Un Yong Hartman of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lorna and Edward Buss of Harvey, Anna Krause of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One grandson, Mark William Hartman, is deceased.
She was a member of the Golden Girls and a former member of the sewing circle, both at her church.
Evalynne Grein
Evalynne M. Grein, 84, a resident of Butterfield Court, Kankakee, formerly of Leonore, died Sunday (May 12, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home, 305 S. Park, Streator.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore, where she was a member. Rev. Charles McCarthy will officiate.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church.
She was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Streator, the daughter of Zigmunt and Julie Zieman Borkowski.
Her husband, Joseph Grein, whom she married
Nov. 21, 1940, died in 1984.
Surviving are three sisters and two brothters-in-law, Olga Sims of Streator, Roma and Albert Humenick of Normal, Henriette and John Rocks of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Grein and her husband farmed in the Leonore area for many years.
Jewell Grothaus
Visitation for Jewell V. Grothaus, 88, of Bourbonnais, will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kelly Prayer Chapel on the Olivet Nazarene Campus.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the String Scholarship for Olivet.
Mrs. Grothaus died Sunday (May 12, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Willard, Ky., the daughter of Charles O. and Mignon K. Fleming Flaugher.
Her husband, Clarence O. Grothaus, whom she married
Aug. 16, 1967, in Bourbonnais, died Jan. 7, 1990.
Surviving are one stepson, Darel and Faith Grothaus of Seattle, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Rita Ayers of Orlando, Fla.; two nieces and one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
One sister, Nada Gribble, is deceased.
Mrs. Grothaus was a professor at Olivet Nazarene University. She was an assistant professor emeritus of violin. She gave private viola and violin lessons, taught a string instrument class, music history, instrumentation and literature.
She received a bachelor's degree in music education at Olivet and then a master's degree in that same major at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She also did graduate work at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. She was also Olivet's music librarian.
She was a member of the College Church of the Nazarene.
She was a member of the Olivet Orchestra and had played several years in the Kankakee Symphony Orchestra. She played 100 performances of the Messiah and 47 performances of the commencement, both at Olivet. She played for many weddings and club meetings in Kankakee and was a soloist for many Olivet events.
She was a member of Phi Delta Lambda; the Music Educators National Convention; the American String Teachers Association and the Music Library Association.
Louie Caspers
LODA -- Louie W. Caspers, 86, a retired Loda farmer, died Tuesday (May 14, 2002) at Heartland Health Care, Paxton.
Visitation will be from noon Friday until the 1:30 p.m. services at the Loda United Methodist Church. Rev. John Hauck will officiate.
Burial will be in Glen cemetery, Paxton.
Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his wife, Irma M. Caspers; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Jim Theesfeld, Sheila J. and Tim Burtner, all of Loda; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Barbara Caspers of Savoy; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Louis Heinrich
DWIGHT -- Visitation for Louis William "Bill" Heinrich, 76, of Dwight, will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Rev. Gretchen Stinebaugh will officiate.
Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery, Dwight.

Mr. Heinrich died Monday (May 13, 2002) at OSF St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
He was born June 11, 1925, in Hobson, Mont., the son of Emil William and Jeanette Wunderlich Heinrich.
His wife, the former Ruth Marie Jacobsgaard, whom he married
Dec. 16, 1945, in Dwight, died Feb. 21, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol and David Winters of Pontiac, Melody Heinrich of Dwight; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tom and Becky Heinrich, Donald Heinrich, all of Dwight, Gerald and Connie Heinrich of Wilmington; three sisters, Margaret Dummer of Sandwich, Helen Gemmill and Elsie Schultz, both of Dwight; one brother, Lester Heinrich of Dwight; and five grandchildren.
One brother, Arthur; and two sisters, Lucille Bloxam and Mary Anne Northrup Feldberg, are deceased.
He was educated at the Gemmill School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Heinrich was retired from Caterpillar. He had also been a dairy/agriculture farmer for 26 years. He had received top producing honors from the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for Grundy County.
He liked to plant and watch plants grow and talk about old times.
Marjorie Wilmington
Marjorie Eloise Wilmington, 79, of Bryan, Texas, formerly of Kankakee, died Tuesday (May 14, 2002) in Bryan.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Friday until the 6 p.m. services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lowell cemetery, Lowell, Ind.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Prophetstown, the daughter of Floyd and Ethel Newlon Hill. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Elmer E. Wilmington, whom she married
Oct. 6, 1940, died June 4, 2001.
Surviving are one son and two daughters-in-law, Howard and Debra Wilmington of Bryan, Texas, Beverly Wilmington of Kankakee; one daughter, Gloria Fleischmann and fiance, Paul Dextraze of Houston, Texas; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean Ellis and Mary and Don Earley, all of Lowell, Ind., Lolly Sinks of Schneider, Ind.; three grandchildren, David and Molly Wilmington of No. Carolina, Michael and Elsa Wilmington of Colorado, Christopher Fleischmann of Texas; four stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
One son, E. Wayne Wilmington; one daughter, Rosa Irene Wilmington; two brothers; and two brothers-in-law, are deceased.
Mrs. Wilmington had been a deli manager at Rudy's Thrif-t-Mart in Bradley.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Chebanse.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, photography and rummage sales.
Patricia Jackson
PONTIAC -- Patricia A. Jackson, 60, of Pontiac, formerly of St. Anne, died Sunday (May 12, 2002) at OSF Saint James Hospital, Pontiac.
Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the 1:30 p.m. service at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac. Rev. Timothy K. Moats will officiate.
Burial will be in South Side cemetery, Pontiac.
Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born Sept. 30, 1941, in St. Anne, the daughter of Frank A. and Velma Mae Varvel Dixon. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Larry D. Jackson, whom she married
Dec. 9, 1982, in Pontiac, died May 14, 1994.
Surviving are three brothers and two sisters-in-law, William Leroy and Midge Dixon of Terre Haute, Ind., Earl and JoAnn Dixon of Flanagan, Donald Dixon of Pontiac; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Genevieve Nichols of Harrisburg, Josephine Joiner of Rosiclare, Frances and Henry Ehrhardt of Pontiac; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Roy Dixon and Clarence "Blackie" Dixon; and three sisters, Mary Alice Dixon, Dorothy Ann Dixon and June Snow, are deceased.
She was educated in Owego school, rural Pontiac.
Mrs. Jackson had been a nurses aide for almost 30 years. She had been employed at Livingston Manor for the past 10 years prior to her retirement.
She attended the Assembly of God Church in Pontiac.
Richard Jackson
ST. ANNE -- Richard Jackson, 77, of St. Anne, died Saturday (May 11, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.
There will be no services.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
He was born May 26, 1924 in Scranton, Pa.
Surviving are special friends, Verlene Mullen and Kevin Roberts and Tricia and Tom Jackson, all of St. Anne.
His parents are deceased.
Mr. Jackson was a retired mental health technician at Manteno Mental Health Center.
He was a resident of the area for 25 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Robert Enz
WILMINGTON -- Robert G. "Bob" Enz, 55, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Wilmington, died Wednesday (May 1, 2002).
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Reeves Funeral Home, Wilmington. Rev. Frank Vitus will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Kuzma Cottage.
He was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Savanna, the son of Robert and Jean Enz. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, Anne of Arizona; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, William and Carol Enz, Marty and Sarah Enz, all of Wilmington, Mark Enz of Arizona; one sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Jim Jefferson of Arizona; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and the American College of Switzerland.
Mr. Enz was a general contractor in the Phoenix area.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.
