Robert Richie

DWIGHT -- Visitation for Robert Roy Richie, 62, of Dwight, will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hager Memorial Homes, Dwight, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. James Rickey will officiate.
Burial will be in Broughton cemetery, rural Campus.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Richie died Monday (May 6, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
He was born June 27, 1939, in Pontiac, the son of Russell Elaine Ewing Richie. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret "Peg" Black, whom he married Feb. 14, 1970, in Dwight; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Brenda and Bob Chellson of Campus, Tammy and Troy Quinley of Pontiac, Gina and Gregg Dockins of Dallas, Texas, Elizabeth Richie of Coal City and her fiance, Rob Hausman; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Craig Rafferty and Jeff and Sabrina Richie, all of Campus; his mother, Elaine Richie; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Lonnie Sorensen, Cindy and Randy DeLong, all of Dwight; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Marge Richie of Buckingham; 10 grandchildren; two aunts; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.
His grandparents; one son, Harlon Rafferty; one daughter-in-law, Lori Richie; and one nephew, Steven Richie, are deceased.
He was a graduate of Reddick High School.
Mr. Richie was a semi-retired truck driver. He had worked for Roger Hertz Trucking and retired from William Hoekstra and Sons June 1, 2001.
He was an avid 49ers fan and Jeff Gordon fan. He loved telling stories and jokes.

Roy Cruse

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Roy Cruse, 72, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Sheldon and Watseka, died Monday (May 6, 2002) at Northside Hospital of St. Petersburg.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Blunt Curry and Roel Funeral services.
Family services will be held Friday at the home of Steven Cruse.
He was born June 4, 1929, in Danville, the son of George and Alta Gilpen Cruse.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Kenneth Cruse of Evansville, Ind., Steven and Trudy Cruse of Newburg, Ind., Larry and Becky Cruse of Kankakee, Gordon and Cheryl Cruse of Old Hickory, Tenn.; one brother, John Cruse of Dayton, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and five sisters are deceased.
Mr. Cruse was the owner of The Cruse Inn Cafe of Sheldon and was employed at Edward J. Funk and Sons of Kentland, Ind. and Crawford Bus Service of Watseka before his retirement to St. Petersburg, Fla. in 1992.

Ruth Gilmore

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Ruth Marjorie Gilmore, 80, of Grand Junction, Colo., formerly of Carbon Hill, died Thursday (April 25, 2002) at ISH Mesa Manor, Grand Junction.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery.
Memorials may be made to ISH of Mesa Manor Staff Fund, 2901 N. 12th St., Grand Junction, Colo. 81505.
She was born April 23, 1922, in Grand Forks, N.D., the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle Bolton.
Surviving are her husband, Henry F. Gilmore, whom she married Oct. 15, 1940; one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and John Harris of Grand Junction; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald and Holly Gilmore of Shorewood, John Gilmore of Ft. Collins, Colo.; one sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Clifford Parker of Ottawa; six grandchildren, one great-grandson and one step-granddaughter.
One son, Kenneth Gilmore; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Wesley Bolton; and one sister, Donna Bolton, are deceased.
She attended Morris High School.
Mrs. Gilmore was a floral designer for many years at Cinderella Florist in Coal City. She and her husband resided in Morris until 1955 when they moved to Carbon Hill to farm.
She was a Cub Scout den mother; a 4-H leader for over 20 years; and a member of the Grundy County Extension.
She was a member of the Coal City Methodist Church.

Sylvia Haney

HOPKINS PARK -- Sylvia Haney, 74, of Hopkins Park, died Tuesday (May 7, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, former Hopkins Park mayor, Napoleon Haney.
Arrangements are pending at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.

William Dike

CHATSWORTH -- William D. Dike, 55, of Chatsworth, died Monday (May 6, 2002).
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Cairo, the son of John and Lillian Dickson Dike.
Surviving are Roberta Hill, with whom he made his home; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Clint Gentz of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald Dike of Sheboygan, Wis., Bob and Dianna Reed of Paintsville, Ky.; four sisters, Sharon Rollins, Donna Shelton, Patti Byas of Ballard County, Ky, and Janice Jones of Columbia, Md.; one brother, John Dike; six grandchildren; eight stepchildren, Arnie France of Chatsworth, Gale Powell of Joppa, Dorothy Breeden of Waverly, Tenn., Debbie Whitt of Seabre, Ky., Charlotte Robertson of Pontiac, Robert France of Waverly, Tenn, Tammy Moore of Chatsworth, Rodney France of Pontiac; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
One stepson, William France, is deceased.
He had previously been married to Linda Dike and Isabelle Dike.
Mr. Dike had been a truck driver for J.B. Lee Transportation of Pontiac for 24 years.

Charles Henderson, Jr.

Charles L. Henderson Jr., 74, of Kankakee, died today (May 6, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.

Clarence Schubbe

PEOTONE -- Visitation for Clarence M. Schubbe, 93, of Peotone, will be from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Bruce Salter will officiate.
Burial will be in Peotone cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, or Peotone Paramedics.
Mr. Schubbe died Saturday (May 4, 2002) at Manorcare Health Services.
He was born April 6, 1909, in Will Township, the son of August and Louisa Knickrehm Schubbe.
Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine Moore, whom he married Sept. 26, 1936, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gib Russell of Peotone; and two grandchildren, Chris Russell of Frankfort, and Mike Russell of Peotone.
Six sisters, Ella Boderius, Lydia Klenz, Hilda Palso, Rosa Schubbe, Amanda Rascher and Emma Schubbe; and two brothers, Walter Schubbe and an infant brother, are deceased.
Mr. Schubbe was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone, the Moose Lodge in Bradley, and Peotone Sportsmen Club.
He was a retired truck driver and School Bus driver for many years in the Peotone School district.
He was an avid bowler, bowling in Peotone leagues for many years.

Ernest Petersen

BEECHER -- Ernest "Ernie" F. Petersen Jr., 75, of Beecher, died Saturday (May 4, 2002).
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Maynard Toensing will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery in Beecher.
Mr. Petersen was born June 4, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Ernest Sr. and Agnes Larsen Petersen. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Scheiwe, of Beecher; one son, Bob Petersen of Beecher; one brother, John Petersen of Beecher; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
One son, Tom Petersen, is deceased.
Mr. Petersen was an automotive supervisor for Ford Motor Co.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was Post Commander of Amvets Post 67, Beecher.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beecher.

Harold Lowery

Harold Lowery, 85, of Bourbonnais, died Friday (May 3, 2002) at his home.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Mr. Lowery was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Gibson City, the son of Guy and Stella Rose Garret Lowery.
His wife, the former Edna Goodchild, whom he married Oct. 2, 1937, in Crown Point, Ind., is deceased.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Nadine Lowery of Manteno, Larry and Cheryl Lowery of Munster, Ind., Harold Jr. "Sonny" and Marie Lowery of Portland, Ore., James and Kathy Lowery of St. Helens, Ore.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Nancy Lowery, JoAnn and Dennis Wheeler, all of Bourbonnais, Linda and Mike Evans of Chicago Heights, Patricia and Bill Demham of Martinton, Donna and John Bobbie of Marathon, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers; and two grandsons, are deceased.
Mr. Lowery was a 24-year employee at Henkel Corp., and a 15-year employee at Turks.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid golfer.

Jimmie Springer

Jimmie Springer, 83, of Kankakee, died Sunday (May 5, 2002) at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Jones Funeral Home.

Lawrence Kincade

MILFORD -- Visitation for Lawrence "Baldy" Kincade, 74, of Milford will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. service at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. The Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Kincade died Saturday (May 4, 2002) at Sheldon Meadows.
He was born April 19, 1928, in Milford, the son of Ernest and Dorothy Wilken Kincade.
Surviving are his wife, the former Leah M. Rutledge, whom he married July 3, 1954, in Watseka, of Milford; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry Kincade of Kentucky, William and Joan Kincade, John Kincade, all of Milford; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela Foust of Georgia, Bonnie and Donnie Herbst of Hoopeston, Connie and Ron Schaubert of Mount Vernon; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pat and Bill Pollom of Milford, Anna Brown of Watseka, Martha and Albion Pitts of Ambia, Ind.; one brother, Floyd Kincade of Danville, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
One brother; and one sister, are deceased.
Mr. Kincade was a farmer and carpenter.
He was a member of Milford Christian Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and mushroom hunting.
