Alice Pryor
ST. ANNE -- Alice Pryor, 85, of St. Anne, died Saturday (April 27, 2002) at Manor Care Nursing Home, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at the Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park. Rev. Bobby Bessant will officiate.
Burial will be in Momence cemetery, Ganeer Township.
She was born July 5, 1916, in Caruthersville, Mo., the daughter of Walter Hoage and Edna Langford.
One niece, Sharon (Cary) Carson of St. Anne survives.
She was a resident of the area for 45 years.
She enjoyed raising dogs and cats, fishing and gardening.
Clyde Mills
PEOTONE -- Clyde A. Mills, 86, a resident of Peotone since 1983, formerly of Chicago, died Tuesday (April 30, 2002) at ManorCare Health Services East, Palos Heights.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone. Rev. David Plant will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Peotone.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research.
He was born Nov. 26, 1915, in Pembroke Township, the son of E.E. and Bessie Sonney Mills.
His wife, the former Florence G. Mills, whom he married
Sept. 2, 1950, in Chicago, died in 1996.
Surviving are three nieces, Elaine (Ron) Artman of Monee, Carolyn (Jim) Creek of Manhattan and Lois (Bob) Hamilton of St. Anne.
Mr. Mills retired from Zenith Corporation and was known as a violin maker.
Edward Volk
Edward J. Volk, 90, of Bellbrook, Ohio, formerly of Bourbonnais, died Sunday (April 28, 2002) at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
There will be no visitation.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley, where he was a member.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
He was born Dec. 9, 1911, in Streator, the son of Andrew and Anna Burshe Volk.
His wife, the former Bernadette Loiselle, whom he married
July 6, 1937, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, died April 16, 1995.
Surviving are one son, James Volk of Darien; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol and Jack Sederstrand of Spring Valley, Ohio; Mary Langellier of Eureka. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren including, Robert Sederstrand and daughter Samantha; Lisa and Kevin McGill, Kelsey and Spencer; Jill and Michael Sandman, Jonathan and Jacob; Lori and Peter Brown and their son Carter; Tom and Emily Sederstrand and Charlotte; Mark and Tori Langellier and son Gage; and David Sederstrand.
Mr. Volk retired from Commonwealth Edison Public Service in June of 1974 after 45 years of service.
He was a former parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church of Kankakee, where he was active in parish activities and also the church bookkeeper.
James Kohan
HILLIARD, Ohio -- James "Jim" Kohan of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly of Kankakee, died suddenly Sunday (April 28, 2002) at his home.
Services were held at 1 p.m. today at the Tidd Funeral Home, Hilliard. Pastor James Browne officiated.
Interment was in Wesley Chapel cemetery, Hilliard.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Jeremy and Matthew in care of Key Bank, 5390 cemetery Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026, Attn: Brian Prose.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Lori; two sons, Jeremy and Matthew; his parents, Jerry and Esther Kohan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Betsy) Kohan, John (Teresa) Kohan; one sister, Mary Lou Kohan; brother-in-law, Kurtis (Ruthie) Kesler; several aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
His father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Billie Jean Kesler, are deceased.
He received a heart transplant in 1995 and his family would like to thank the donor family for giving them seven more years with Jim.
Mr. Kohan had been an employee of Chase Manhattan Mortgage Company. He had been a Columbus Dispatch carrier for the Hilliard area.
He was a committee member for Scout Troop 734, cub master for Pack 418 and 553. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 614 and the S.A.L.
Loramay White
URBANA -- Loramay White, 80, of Urbana, formerly of Kankakee, died Tuesday (April 30, 2002) at Manor Care Health Services of Urbana.
There will be no local services.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

She was born April 29, 1922, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Gustav and Gertrude Hudson Nimtz.
Surviving are two sons, Dave White of Champaign, Bruce White of St. Paul, Minn.; one daughter, Jill Irvine of Las Cruces, N.M.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Kuehl of South Bend, Ind., Mildred Jaske of Bradenton, Fla.; and one brother, Albert Nimtz of Houston, Texas.
Paul Lucier
MILFORD -- A funeral Mass for Paul A. Lucier, 87, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, formerly of Milford, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in Amity cemetery, Milford.

Mr. Lucier died Monday (April 29, 2002) at Homewood Residence, Cleveland Heights.
He was born June 22, 1914, in Manchester, N.H., the son of Auguste and Charlotte Beaudreau Lucier.
Surviving are his companion, Marjorie Lucier; two sons, P. Jeffrey and Susan Lucier, Craig Wilson and Martha Fraser; one sister, Lucille Marcelle Warren; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rachel Ash
CRESCENT CITY -- Visitation for Rachel L. Ash, 58, of Onarga, will be from 3-9 p.m. Thursday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 9 a.m. Friday until the 10 a.m. services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City, where she was a member. Revs. Harold Grafe and Paul Park will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery, Crescent City.
Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Senior Ministries Foundation.
Mrs. Ash died Tuesday (April 30, 2002) at her home.
She was born March 27, 1944, in Watseka, the daughter of Archie and Bertha Schleef Nelson. Her father is deceased.
Her husband, Jerry D. Ash, whom she married
Sept. 29, 1963, in Woodworth, died Sept. 16, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Scott Ruder of Plainfield, Ind., Laura Ash and Andrew Kissamis of Batavia; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kathryn Ash of Watseka; her mother, Bertha Nelson of Danforth; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Connie Nelson of Pasadena, Texas; and five grandchildren.
One son, Michael, is deceased.
Mrs. Ash served on the Church Council and the Board of Directors for A-Way Service Inc. in Crescent City. She was secretary of Treasures for Little Children. She owned and operated Nook of Treasures Ltd.
Vivian Boyd
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Vivian L. Martin Boyd, 92, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Kankakee, died Monday (April 29, 2002) at Westminster Village North, Indianapolis.
Private services will be held.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Indiana.
She was born May 7, 1909, in Kempton, the daughter of Robert John and Maude LeConte Martin.
Her husband, John William Boyd, whom she married
July 19, 1931, in Kankakee, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William L. and Illa Boyd of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter-in-law, Myrna Boyd of Kankakee; one sister, Mable Dankers of Naples, Fla.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, Robert Boyd; and one sister, Lula Martin, are deceased.
She was a graduate of the University of Illinois in 1931 with a bachelors of science and her master of education degree in 1964.
Mrs. Boyd had been a school teacher in Peotone, Bourbonnais and Kankakee for 20 years retiring in 1974. She then continued to substitute teach for an additional 10 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Illinois, the University of Illinois Alumni Association and the Urban Rural Development Program from 1971-1975 of Kankakee School District. She had also been one of the first teachers in the Head Start Program in Kankakee during the early 1960's.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Kankakee for 70 years where she had been a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher.
Ruth Skates
ONARGA -- Services for Ruth V. Skates, 90, of Onarga, were held April 29 at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga. Rev. Charles Shelquist officiated.
Mrs. Skates died April 25, 2002.
Burial was in Onarga cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael and Karl Johnson, Douglas, Robert and Kevin Skates and Trent Gillette.
Patricia Boyer
HOOPESTON -- Services for Patricia M. Boyer, 74, of Hoopeston, were held April 30 at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford. Rev. Neil Larimore officiated.
Mrs. Boyer died April 27, 2002.
Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery, Milford. Pallbearers were Winky, Jody and James Boyer, Eugene and Stephen Umstattd and Thomas and Penny Wilson.
Mary Kolodziej
A funeral Mass for Mary Alice Kolodziej, 77, of Kankakee, was celebrated April 27 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Rev. Richard Jacklin officiated.
Mrs. Kolodziej died April 23, 2002.
Burial was in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Randy Cotton, Bruce Howard, Greg Barisa, Don Mussa, Dennis Cabala and Al Crenshaw.
