WATSEKA -- A memorial service for Beverly Jean Eckstein, 65, of Watseka, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at GAR cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
Arrangements are by Baier Funeral Home, Watseka.
Mrs. Eckstein died Feb. 19, 2002.
Crystal D. Simmons-Campbell
Crystal D. Simmons-Campbell, 18, of Kankakee, died Thursday (April 18, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the noon services at the House of Prayer Apostolic Church of God, Kankakee, where she was a member. Rev. Claudius Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
She was born June 10, 1983, in Chicago, the daughter of Cedrick Dean and Barbara Ann Simmons.
Surviving are her husband, Alfred T. Campbell of Kankakee, whom she married
in 2001; one daughter, Chelia Simmons of Kankakee; her parents of Kankakee; three brothers, De Lon Norwood of Kansas City, Kan., Cedrick Dean and Muhammed Shamar Simmons, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister, Jatonne Simmons of Minneapolis, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Trina Norwood of Hammond, Ind.; and special friend, Cory Williams of Kankakee.
Her maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; and one brother, Michael Norwood, are deceased.
She was a 2001 graduate of Kankakee High School.
She enjoyed singing.

MORTON -- Services for Gary E. Feller, 55, of Morton, were held April 22 at Knapp Funeral Home, Cissna Park. Ministers of the church officiated.
Mr. Feller died April 19, 2002.
Burial was in Apostolic Christian cemetery, Cissna Park. Pallbearers were Brad, John, Todd and Greg Eisenmann, Roger Hari and Fred Waldbeser.
Laura Gaus
BUCKINGHAM -- Services for Laura E. Gaus, 86, of Buckingham, were held April 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Herscher. Rev. Gary Ruckman officiated.
Mrs. Gaus died April 18, 2002.
Burial was in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Herscher. Pallbearers were Franklin D. Asbell, Craig and Eric Gaus, Wayne and Keith Berger and Roger Birch.
Marlin Oldridge
ONARGA -- Memorial services for Marlin Oldridge, 78, of Onarga, were held April 21 at Onarga Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Shelquist officiated.
Mr. Oldridge died April 11, 2002.

WATSEKA -- Services for Elmer Rife, 92, of Watseka, were held April 22 at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman. Rev. Connie Williams Moodie officiated.
Mr. Rife died April 18, 2002.
Burial was in Gilman cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Alder, David Eshleman, Steve Freehill, Mike Holt and Glenn and Ronald Scharp.
Cornelia Benson
A funeral Mass for Cornelia D. Benson, 87, of Kankakee, was celebrated April 24 at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Rev. Anthony Taschetta officiated.
Mrs. Benson died April 19, 2002.
Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Kingston, N.Y. Pallbearers were Chris, Curtis, Edwin and David Benson, Mike Schale and Vince Paulauskis.
Leroy Fink
A funeral Mass for Leroy Theodore Fink, 43, of Bradley, was celebrated April 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley. Rev. William Dewaan officiated.
Mr. Fink died April 20, 2002.
Cremation rites were accorded by the County Line Crematory, Chebanse. Pallbearers were Steve Ahlemann, Steve Mook, Tom Cloonen, Bruce Wright, Billy and Mike Mook and Marvin Thomas.

MANTENO -- Services for Wendell Charles Marr, 76, of Manteno, were held April 24 at Manteno United Methodist Church. Rev. Harvey Gaither officiated.
Mr. Marr died April 20, 2002.
Burial was in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood. Pallbearers were Dennis Deany, Kenneth McMullen, Wayne Miller, Park Hollenbeck, Ron Travis and Gerald Berge.
Urbain Granger
Urbain "Bud" Granger, 84, of Kankakee, died (April 23, 2002) at his home.
A funeral Mass was celebrated April 26 at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Rev. Anthony Taschetta officiating.
Burial was in St. George cemetery. Pallbearers were Nealy Skeldon, Jessica Brace, Jeana and Mat Thompson, John Brace and Josh Marcotte.
Robert Schweppe

Robert V. Schweppe, 65, of Kankakee, formerly of Grant Park, died Wednesday (April 24, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
There will be no visitation or services.
Donation of his remains will be given to the Anatomical Gift Association.
Mr. Schweppe was an electrician for Leo's Electric and then for Charles F. L'Hommedieu, retiring in 1994.
Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Grant Park, the son of Fred and Lydia Hartman Schweppe. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are one sister and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Wilbert Lietz of Grant Park, Wayne Pettigrew of Glenwood; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Donna Schweppe of Grant Park; one brother-in-law, Sidney Marshall of Lowell, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Four sisters, Ruth Pettigrew, Caroline Middleton, Marion Harrell and Lydia Marshall, are deceased.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sollitt.

ONARGA -- Ruth V. Skates, 90, of Onarga, died Thursday (April 25, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Charles Shelquist will officiate.
Burial will be in Onarga cemetery.
Mrs. Skates taught school in the early 1930s in Del Rey. She also taught in Gilman and Danforth.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.
She was born Dec. 9, 1911, in Del Rey, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Margaretta Montz Austin.
Her husband, L. Wayne Skates, whom she married
Feb. 15, 1936, in Urbana, died May 7, 1967.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Don Johnson of Kempton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Wayne and Kay C. Skates of Watseka, Richard V. and Judy Skates of Onarga; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Rheta Fisher of Gilman, Ila Hynd and Mary and Orin Ireland, all of Onarga; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Donald Austin; and two sisters, Margaret Windhorn and Maxine Shannon, are deceased.
She attended Eastern Illinois University for two years and earned her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in Bloomington.
She was a member of the Onarga Methodist Church, Ruskin Club, Retired Teachers Association and the Onarga Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting.

Toggy Johnson, 91, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (April 23, 2002) at his daughter's home.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services were held at 10 a.m. today. Rev. Eleanor Ditrick officiated.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Johnson was employed in millwork as a cabinet maker.
He was born June 10, 1910, in Gotenborg, Sweden, the son of Johan and Hilda Larsson Johnson.
His wife, the former Lucille Farrell, whom he married
April 12, 1942, in Dwight, is deceased.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Ernest L. Miracle, Susan and Dale Stevenson, all of Kankakee; one sister, Elsa Furst of Gotenborg, Sweden; one brother, Walter Wallenbring of Roserna, Sweden; two grandchildren, Christopher Ansted and fiancee, Laura, of Houston, Texas, Matthew Ansted and fiancee, Misty, of Dallas, Texas; one great-grandchild, Hannah Ansted of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews in Sweden.
Six sisters, Edit, Greta, Karin, Rut, Anne and Mary; and one brother, Gunnar, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a life member of the Dwight VFW and the Dwight American Legion and the Disabled Veterans.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dwight.
He enjoyed woodworking and walking.
William Everds
MANTENO -- William S. Everds, 68, of Manteno, died Monday (April 22, 2002) from injuries received in an auto accident in Frankfort Township, Will County.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Sunday until the 7 p.m. services at Brown Funeral Home, Manteno. Deacon John Hines will officiate.
Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
He was born May 13, 1933, in Chicago, the son of Jack and Deborah Horn Everds. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice Everds of Manteno, Kimberly Everds of Florida; and one brother, Jack Everds of San Diego, Calif.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Everds had been a delivery driver.
He was a member of Willow Creek Church.

PEOTONE -- Cletus L. Browning, 74, of Peotone, formerly of Steger, died Monday (April 22, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation was from 4-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services were held at 11 a.m. today. Rev. Lewis Nutter officiated.
Burial was in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee. Pallbearers were Christopher and Andrew Browning, Gene and Jeff Bloomquist and Glenn and Mark Garza.
Memorials may be made to the Liver Foundation.
Mr. Browning was a tool and die setter at the Ford Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights, retiring in 1974.
He was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Poke County, Ill., the son of Cephus and Melinda Rullens Browning.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Lane, whom he married
March 10, 1979, in Monee, of Peotone; one son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Jodi Browning of Batavia; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Charles Garza of Dyer, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
His first wife, the former Wilma Johnson, died in 1977; one stepdaughter, Barb Bloomquist; one brother, William Browning; and one sister, Katie Sellers, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran.
He was a member of the Manteno Baptist Church.
