Visitation for Arthur L. Mitchell, 79, of Kankakee, will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the William Funeral Home, 1765 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Augusta, Ga.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at Mt. Olive cemetery, Augusta.
Local arrangements are by Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.
Mr. Mitchell died Sunday (April 7, 2002) at his home.
He was born Sept. 7, 1922, in St. Charles, Ky., the son of Ray and Eddie Bee Jones Mitchell.
Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Corine Noble of Kankakee, Geraldine and Noel Cumberbatch of Los Angeles, Calif., Mary Ann Jones of Augusta, Ga.; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Arthur and Bettye Mitchell, Albert C. Sr. and Cassandra Mitchell, Elijah and Carolyn Mitchell, Alonzo Mitchell, all of Augusta, Ga., Spc. Tyrone and Sebine Mitchell of Ft. Knox, Ky., Dan C. and Vanessa Mitchell of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Albert B. Jones of Augusta, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Breatha H. Jones of Augusta, Ga., Mary Sue Matthew of Alabama; two brothers-in-law, Frank Permenter of Augusta, Ga., Frank Hill of Kentucky; special friend, John Noble of Kankakee; and two special nieces, Susie Dennis and Carolyn Belt; 63 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
His wife and five children are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Mitchell was a truck driver for Boral Brick Company.
He enjoyed fishing.
Donald Scott

MORRIS -- Donald E. "Gene" Scott, 63, of Morris, died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at his home.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Saturday until the 4 p.m. memorial service at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel. Rev. Jim Book will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Melanoma Research, Arthritis Research or to the Grundy County Hospice.
Mr. Scott retired from Halliburton Services in Dwight after more than 20 years of service. Following his retirement, his hobby of growing vegetables turned into a produce business. Along with his wife, they operated Scott Produce.
He was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Sycamore, the son of Tom and May Steele Scott.
Surviving are his wife, the former Suzon A. Hitzeroth, whom he married
July 26, 1968, in North Plato; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Howard and Bonnie Scott, T.O. "Cork" Scott, all of Burlington, Ill.; one sister and brother-in-law, Mabel and Roy Thies of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, John Scott, is deceased.
He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a military policeman.
He was a member of the American Legion in Morris.
James O'Reilly
CUSTER PARK -- James E. O'Reilly, 67, of Kimberling City, Mo., formerly of Custer Park, died Wednesday (April 10, 2002) at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
Visitation is tentatively set for Monday with services on Tuesday.

Joyce Hill Robertson, 68, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (April 3, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at Fair Haven Church of God in Christ, Kankakee. Rev. Carl Randle will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Arrangements are by Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.
She was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Nacogdoches, Texas, the daughter of Hosie Berry and Drucilla Lasion. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, W.C. Robertson of Kankakee; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Willie Washington, Annie and Ricky Givans, Beverly and David Holloway, Kathy Morrow, all of Kankakee, Betty and Arthur Stoudemire of Harvey; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward and Loretta Robertson of Chicago Heights, Larry Robertson of Jackson, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Cecil Watkins, is deceased.
Mrs. Robertson worked at Jackson Park Hospital as a certified nurses assistant for 20 years until her retirement.
She was a past member of the Eastern Star in Texas and Sun River Terrace.
She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served as an usher.

BEECHER -- Visitation for LaRue S. Schmeckpeper, 79, of Beecher, will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beecher, where she was a member. Rev. Karl Wellnitz will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery, Beecher.
Mrs. Schmeckpeper died Sunday (April 7, 2002) at Ingalls Inpatient Hospice in Harvey.
Mrs. Schmeckpeper was a former rural postal carrier.
She was born Dec. 26, 1922 in Matteson, the daughter of Norman and Rose Siemann Dettmering.
Surviving are her husband, Irving Schmeckpeper of Beecher; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Warren and Linda Schmeckpeper of Markesan, Wis., Theron Schmeckpeper of St. Anne; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Lloyd Blume of Frankfort, June and Melvin Rohlwing of Buckley; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

GILMAN -- Visitation for Lorene E. Koets, 91, of Gilman, will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at the United Methodist Church, Gilman, where she was a member. Rev. Gary Fairchild will officiate.
Burial will be in Danforth cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Gilman or to Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth.
Mrs. Koets died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth.
She was born Sept. 7, 1910, in Congerville, the daughter of Carl and Mary Hexamer Evelsizer.
Mrs. Koets farmed for nearly 50 years. She had also worked at Baxter's Grocery Store in Gilman and retired from the Gilman High School cafeteria.
Her husband, John Koets, whom she married
Jan. 23, 1929, in Danforth, died Feb. 28, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Ethelyn Richter of Bradley, Joyce and Eldor Windhorn of Westfield, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, Ryland and Elizabeth Koets of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Erma Medendorp of Gilman, Elsie Meier of Ashkum, Wilma and Ken Thornton of Lansing, Mich.; and one brother and two sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Phyllis Evelsizer of Morton and Lorene Evelsizer of Danforth.
One son-in-law, Bob Richter; one brother, Raymond Evelsizer; and grandson-in-law, Chip Burris, are deceased.
Mrs. Koets was a member of the Mary Martha Circle of her church.

MILFORD -- Morris R. Langellier, 56, of Milford, died Wednesday (April 10, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.

Nelda Johnston
Visitation for Nelda E. Johnston, 83, of Kankakee, will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, with a 5 p.m. Women of the Moose ritual, at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. John Powers will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Mrs. Johnston died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at Manor Care Health Services.
She was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Kankakee, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Meyer Guttendorf.
Her husband, Howard Johnston, whom she married
June 28, 1936, in Kankakee, died Feb. 26, 1988.
Surviving are one sister-in-law, Geraldine Johnston of Kankakee; four brothers-in-law, Harvey and Mary Ann Johnston (niece) of Kankakee, Richard and Judith Johnston of Bourbonnais, Melvin and Eloise Johnston of Surprise, Ariz., Kenneth and Darlene Johnston of Bakersfield, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Joseph Weaver.
Three brothers, Joseph, Richard and Raymond Guttendorf; and five sisters, Ruth Guttendorf, Lena LaFine, Julia Hupel, Frieda Dellibac and Hulda Bess, are deceased.
Mrs. Johnston had been a secretary to the president of a Die Casting Company in New Jersey for eight years.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Kankakee and the Women of the Moose.
She had been involved with Girl Scouts, the church choir, Meals on Wheels and nursing home activities.
She loved fishing, playing cards and was a Cubs fan.
Richard Gossett
Visitation for Richard E. Gossett, 71, of Kankakee, formerly of Woodland, will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Edward H. Heck will officiate.
Burial will be held at a later date at Body cemetery, Woodland.
Mr. Gossett died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Woodland, the son of William Earl and Bertha Boyer Gossett.
His first wife, the former Joan L. Allen, whom he married
July 6, 1951, died Nov. 10, 1995.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jean Kincade, whom he married
Dec. 28, 1997 in Hoopeston, of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Vicki Gossett of Tinley Park; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Alan Cicmanec of St. Louis, Mo., Linda and Charles Jones of Milford; three stepsons, Larry and Linda Gossett, Keith and Angie Gossett, all of Hoopeston, Jerry and Donna Gossett of Florence, Ala.; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marie Gossett of Palm Harbor, Fla., two sisters, Jen Little of Bass Lake, Ind., Rose Galbreath of Elwood, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Mr. Gossett was a former member of the Woodland Fire Department.
He enjoyed street rodding and wood carving.

Robert Zeedyk

Visitation for Robert Zeedyk, 80, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at American Lutheran Church, Kankakee, where he was a member. Rev. Raymond Barclay will officiate.
Burial will be in Danforth cemetery.

Mr. Zeedyk died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Zeedyk was a retired employee of Kankakee School District and formerly had worked at the Kankakee Foundry for 35 years.
He was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Danforth, the son of John and Edith Herr Zeedyk.
His wife, the former Dorothy V. Thomas, whom he married
Oct. 7, 1951, in Crescent City, died April 22, 1997.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Allen R. and Pamela Zeedyk of Palmyra, Mo.; two daughters, Karen Anglin of Bradley, Donna Van Landuyt of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Lambert and Lorraine Zeedyk of Chatsworth; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
One brother, Roy Zeedyk, is deceased.
