April Hagen

OSWEGO -- April Ann Hagen, 28, of Oswego, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday (March 16, 2002).
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 So. Broadway (Rt.25), Montgomery.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Baptist Church, 5315 Douglas Road (at Plainfield) in Oswego.
Graveside services will be held at noon Monday at Ward's cemetery in Verona.
She was born Dec. 28, 1973, in Joliet, the daughter of Richard and Nancy Stitt Hagen of Wilmington.
Surviving are her parents; her dearest friend, Frank Liberatore; eight sisters and five brothers-in-law, Constance and P.A. Edwin, Carol Greene, Nannette Hagen, Mariann and Chris Byers, Edith and David Lull, Ruth and Don Martin, Audrey and Erwin Mock, Christine Hagen; and one brother, Richard T. Hagen.
She was a 1992 graduate of Wilmington High School and received her two-year degree from Joliet Junior College.
Miss Hagen was a crane operator for Local 150 Operators Union and a freelance landscape designer.
She loved gardening.

Delores Griffin

Delores Griffin, 39, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Andre Griffin.
Arrangements are pending at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.

Eugene Hebert

LOMBARD -- Eugene F. Hebert, 72, of Lombard, formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at LaGrange Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, and from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the 10:30 a.m. services at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard. Rev. Patrick Boomhower will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Emblem cemetery, Elmhurst.
Surviving are his wife, the former Myrtle Becker; one son, Mark E. Hebert of Glen Ellyn; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Jane Hebert of Manteno; one sister, Theresa Marko of Bourbonnais; and 22 nieces and nephews.
One son, David G. Hebert; and two brothers, Thomas and Charles Hebert, are deceased.
He had been a resident of Lombard since 1961.
Mr. Hebert retired in 1984 from General Foods (Kraft) where he worked as a warehouseman.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 41 years, where he was a former captain of the St. John's Dart Team and a member of the Finance Committee and Adult Fellowship.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Harold Locher
Korean War vet

CISSNA PARK -- Harold C. Locher, 75, of Cissna Park, died Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at the VA Medical Center in Danville.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the Knapp Funeral Home, Cissna Park.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christian Bible Church, Cissna Park. Don Yergler will officiate.
Burial will be in the Cissna Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Bible Mission Fund or to Iroquois Valley Youth for Christ.
He was born May 24, 1926, in Princeville, the son of Rudolph and Ida Moy Locher.
Surviving are his wife, the former Aldine M. Knapp, whom he married Dec. 7, 1952, in Cissna Park; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jill Locher of Elkhorn, Wis., Randy and Debra Locher, Champaign; two daughters and one son-in-law, Reba Locher of Goshen, Ind., Renee and Kevin Small of Carol Stream; one sister, Lucille Strauss of Des Moines, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
Five brothers and three sisters are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion.
He attended Christian Bible Church, Cissna Park.

Hudson Gilbert

Visitation for Hudson Gilbert Jr., 70, of Kankakee, will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Mr. Gilbert died Tuesday (March 19, 2002) at his home.
He was born Nov. 1, 1931, the son of Sadie and Hudson Gilbert Sr. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gloria Goin, whom he married Sept. 21, 1989; one son, Gerald Gilbert of Chicago; three daughters, Juliette Gilbert of Colorado, Shirley Smith of Ohio, Annise Gilbert of Chicago; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Angela and Claude Jenkins of Roselle, N.J.; one brother, Reginald Gilbert of Kankakee; one sister, Essalene Gilbert of Kankakee; his former wife, Lutha Gilbert of Chicago; six grandchildren and several other relatives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a graduate of Lane Tech in Chicago and attended Kankakee Community College.
Mr. Gilbert had worked in construction for Local 751.
He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He enjoyed talking on the CB.

James Ciambrone

CRETE -- James J. "Roger" Ciambrone, of Crete, formerly of Riverdale and Florida, died Tuesday (March 19, 2002) at St. James Manor, Crete.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Crete Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Manor, 1215 E. Richton Rd., Crete.
Burial will be private.
He was born July 10, 1907 in Chicago, the son of Giovanni and Marie Tomaino Ciambrone.
His wife, Dolores M. Ciambrone, died Dec. 22, 1996.
Surviving are one daughter, Jane Ciambrone of Crete; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Ciambrone of Naperville; and many nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Raffella, Antonette, Angeline; and four brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Peter and Frank, are deceased.
Mr. Ciambrone worked for the newspaper circulation department of the Daily Racing Form.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2335 Riverdale/Colton Chapter and the Teamsters Local.
He was a former member of the Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, Riverdale.

Jesse Crocie

Jesse William Crocie, 20, formerly of Buckingham, died Tuesday (March 19, 2002) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Jesse struggled with a lifelong congenital heart defect which led to a successful heart transplant at the age of 14, thanks to the medical staff at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Jesse was born Feb. 22, 1982 to David and Mari Crocie, and from the age of 9 was raised by his paternal aunt Debbie and uncle Rob Thomas.
Jesse loved animals, fishing, music and cars.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. today until the 7:30 p.m. services at the Meinhart-Neal Funeral Home, Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his unborn child; paternal great-grandfather, Joseph Knobel; paternal great-grandmother, Verna Endres; maternal grandfather, Adrian Sweet; and maternal uncle, Mark Sweet.
Surviving are his fiancee, Callie Verkler of Mason; his parents, David and Mari Crocie of Climax Springs, Mo.; one brother, Jeremy Crocie of Climax Springs; one sister, Mandi Crocie of Climax Springs; one niece, Alanis Crocie; three nephews, Ashton, Dayton and Kolton Krueger; paternal grandparents, Bill and Heidi Endres of Davenport, Iowa; paternal great-grandfather, Vincent Endres Sr. of Forrest; maternal grandmother, June Miller of Melvin; paternal aunts and uncles, Sharon and Tom Smith of Bradley, Debbie Thomas of League City, Texas; Robert Thomas of Buckingham, Jonathan and Lisa Endres of Anchorage, Alaska, Vincent William III and Ginette Endres, Michael Heaton, all of Tucson, Ariz.; maternal aunts and uncles, David Sweet of Sibley, Tina Sweet and Mike Boles of Cooksville, Barbara Sue Edgar of Pennsylvania, Joi Sweet of Sibley, Ed Morris of Benton; and future in-laws, Ron and Connie Lowrance of Effingham and Dale Verkler of Watseka. LODA -- Kenneth V. Lee, 78, of Loda, and a longtime resident of Paxton, died Tuesday (March 19, 2002) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, after an illness of two months.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton, with Masonic rites accorded by the Paxton Lodge 416 A.F.&A.M.;, and where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Rev. Randall A. Surey will officiate.
Burial will be in Glen cemetery, Paxton.
Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Iroquois Memorial Hospice Program, Watseka, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born Aug. 31, 1923, in rural Paxton, the son of Eugene and Treva Phillips Lee.
Mr. Lee farmed and owned and operated Lee's Service in Paxton for many years and retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1991.
At one time he was a deputy coroner and precinct committeman.
His first wife, the former Mary E. Johnson, whom he married Jan. 27, 1945, at the Methodist parsonage in Paxton, died July 11, 1988.
Surviving are his wife, the former Velma Hileman, whom he married July 27, 1991, at Mahomet; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Darrell and Kathy Lee, Bill Lee, all of Paxton; one stepson, Daniel and Barb Hileman of rural Mahomet; one stepdaughter, Vickie and Danny Swan of rural Paxton; five grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Hartman of Piper City, Helen Thomas of Gibson City, Alice Burroughs of Bloomington; one brother, John Lee of Elizabethtown; and several other relatives.
Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
He attended rural Paxton schools.
He attended the Evangelical Covenant Church of Paxton and was a member of the Paxton Masonic Lodge, 416 AF&AM.;
He enjoyed going to auctions and traveling.

Lillie Fields

Lillie Fields, 98, of Kankakee, died today (March 21, 2002) at Manor Care Health Services.
Arrangements are pending at the Jones Funeral Home, Kankakee.

Nellie Flowers

Nellie M. Flowers, 84, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (March 20, 2002).
Arrangements are pending at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.

Robert DeCamp,
played minor league baseball

WATSEKA -- Robert B. DeCamp Sr., 81, of Watseka, died Tuesday (March 19, 2002).
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, Ind., where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Michael Drake will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Hammond.
Memorials may be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Association.
He played minor league baseball for the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates and pitched batting practice for the Chicago Cubs the last year that they won the pennant.
Mr. DeCamp worked for 17 years for Carpenters Local 599 of Hammond and 17 years for the Nickel Plate Railroad.
Surviving are his wife, the former Arliss M. Stevenson; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert B. Jr. and Trinita DeCamp of New Lenox; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Art Reato of Lead, S.D., Susan and Nelson Belicek of Schererville, Ind.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His parents, Harvey and Lela DeCamp; and one brother, Bill DeCamp, are deceased.
He was a lifetime resident of the area.
He enjoyed fishing, all sports and was a lifelong Cubs fan.

Ruth Kapetanios

Ruthie Evangelia Nancy Kapetanios, 17, of Oswego, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday (March 16, 2002).
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway (Rt. 25), Montgomery.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harvest Baptist Church, 5315 Douglas Road (at Plainfield) in Oswego.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Oakwood cemetery, Wilmington.
She was born March 21, 1984, in Joliet.
Surviving are her parents, Ruth Hagen Martin and Don Martin; one sister, Dodgetta Lynn Martin; stepbrother, Donnie Brantley; friend, Brad Caplet; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her father, Nikitas Kapetanios, is deceased.
She was a senior at Oswego High School and had recently registered to join the U.S. Air Force.

Jerry Rawlings

CLIFTON -- Services for Jerry C. Rawlings, 26, of Clifton, were held March 20 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mr. Rawlings died March 16, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Rawlings, Steve and Matt Lanter, Shane Shyde and Ken and Don Linell.
