Velma V. "V" Clement, 91, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at Miller Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. Scott Hill will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Anne cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Kankakee or to the Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship Fund.
She was born Feb. 10, 1911, in St. Anne, the daughter of Bert J. and Lena Amiott Clement. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are three nephews, Lee Clement, Wayne and Betty Clodi, all of Kankakee, Richard and Rose Clodi of Grant Park; one niece, Cheryl and Roger Keast of Kankakee; one sister-in-law, Vona Clement of Kankakee; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
One sister, Marguerite Clodi; and one brother, Clinton Clement, are deceased.
She received a bachelor of science degree in Education and a master's degree at Illinois State University. Her postgraduate work was done at Bradley University, the University of Illinois and Penn State.
Miss Clement taught in Kankakee County schools in St. Anne and Longfellow School in Kankakee for a total of 14 years. She taught in Peoria City schools and at Illinois State University for a total of 28 years. Her Peoria years of teaching included three years at St. Francis Hospital during the polio epidemic and she taught gifted eighth-grade students.
During her residency in Peoria from 1945 to 1987 she was active in Westminster Presbyterian Church serving six years as a deaconess, and was active in the Women's Association, the Friendship Club and the Bridge to Friendship groups in the church. She served on the boards of the AAUW and the Peoria Area Blind Center, was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Council of Exceptional Children, the Woman's Club, AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma PEO and served on the advisory committee for Visually Handicapped Services.
In 1962 she founded and directed a day camp for blind and partially sighted children at the Peoria Area Blind Center which is still in operation.
In 1970 she was awarded the Caroline Hauptman Award and the Illinois Federation for the Blind award for her service to blind people.
Upon her return to Kankakee she volunteered at Riverside Medical Center and has been affiliated with the Riverside Auxiliary, Kankakee Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma (of which she was a charter member) and PEO. She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kankakee since 1988 and the Woman's Club.
She enjoyed playing bridge and her family and friends.
Clarabell Anderson
MILFORD -- Services for Clarabell N. Anderson, 85, of Lowell, Ind., formerly of Milford, were held March 21 at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford. The Rev. Terry Owens officiated.
Mrs. Anderson died March 18, 2002.
Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery, Milford. Pallbearers were Jordan Anderson, Gary Perigo, Sam Bell, Darin Lawson, Scott Anderson and Jason Martin.
Marie Reinhart
BONFIELD -- Services for Marie Z. White Reinhart, 80, of Bonfield were held March 18 at the First Baptist Church in Manteno. The Rev. Earl Lawson officiated.
Mrs. Reinhart died March 14, 2002.
Graveside services were held March 19 at the Busby cemetery, Goreville. Rev. Ron Ferguson officiated. Pallbearers were Paul and Clifford Reinhart, Jerry Anderson, Josh Zelhart, Sean and Robert Spilsbury and Craig and Paul Anderson.
Lillie Johnson
Services for Lillie Mae Johnson, 70, of Kankakee, were held March 14 at the New Jackson Tabernacle No. 2 COGIC, Kankakee. The Rev. Tommy Wright officiated.
Mrs. Johnson died March 8, 2002.
Burial was in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Ford, Darrow Green, Larry, Tommy and Nate Johnson and Tony Williams.
Eleanor Lawlor
MANTENO -- A funeral Mass for Eleanor Lawlor, 79, of Manteno, was celebrated March 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno. The Rev. Ray Stonich officiated.
Mrs. Lawlor died March 18, 2002.
Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Manhattan. Pallbearers were Chuck and Dave Snyder, Ray St. Aubin, Ed Kopcha, Bob Struthers and Daryl Provost.
Leafa Green
Leafa "Peg" L. Green, 78, of Bradley, died today (March 22, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Thomas Wilber will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
She was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Prophetstown, the daughter of Charlie and Leafa McClearly Howlett.
Her husband, Thomas Green, whom she married
Sept. 13, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, is deceased.
Surviving are one daughter, Peggy Green of Bradley; one granddaughter, Kelli and Dave Green-Brza of Bradley; three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Brza, Tomlyn Brza and Mack Brza; two sisters-in-law, Anna Snell of Barefoot Bay, Fla., Bertha Green of Columbus, Miss.; special friends, Gene and Jim Page; and many nieces and nephews.
Seven brothers, John, George, Buss, Art, Kenny, Virgil and Ivil, are deceased.
Mrs. Green was a homemaker.
She enjoyed crafts, the Cubs and spending time with her great-grandchildren. (Pd.)
Nellie Flowers
Visitation for Nellie Mae Flowers, 84, of Kankakee, will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. The Rev. Leah Pogemiller will officiate.
Burial will be in Aroma Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church remodeling project.
Mrs. Flowers died Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Kankakee, the daughter of William and Nellie Neuman.
Her husband, William Flowers, whom she married
March 17, 1934, in Kankakee, died July 10, 1996.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest and Pat Flowers of Kankakee, Stanley and Jane Flowers of Buffalo, Minn., and Dennis and Mary Jo Flowers of Springstead, Wis.; two sisters, Rosie Wrep of Tavernier, Fla., and Maybelle Krech of Manhattan; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One daughter, Susan Aaker; one brother, LeRoy Neuman; and three sisters, Ruth Haack, Marcelline Johnson and Helen Shoven, are deceased.
Mrs. Flowers was co-owner of Flowers Construction Company for 52 years.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Raymond Ennen

BUCKLEY -- Raymond T. "Ray" Ennen, 77, of Buckley, died Thursday (March 21, 2002) at the Ford County Nursing Home, Paxton, after a six month illness.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Buckley.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, Rev. Mark J. Haller will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in St. John's cemetery, Buckley.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Church, Buckley, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born May 9, 1924, in Buckley, the son of Theodore and Bertha Hogrefe Ennen.
Surviving are his wife, the former Erma I. Engehausen, whom he married
Oct. 10, 1945, in New Orleans; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Larry Lambright of Mahomet; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Alice Ennen, and James Ennen, all of Buckley, and Gary Ennen of Homer; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elda Wurzburger and Betty Plath, both of Buckley, Lois Gustafson of Rantoul and Dorothy Fisher of Champaign.
One brother and four sisters are deceased.
He attended rural Buckley schools, St. John's Lutheran School and Buckley High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the SS Contrerus in the Pacific during World War II. He was a life member of the Buckley American Legion Post.
Mr. Ennen was manager of the Buckley Elevator for many years and was also a grain inspector for Gromark of Paxton.
He had been trustee for the village of Buckley for eight years and treasurer for 10 years.
He was a member of St. John's Church, Buckley and a member of the school board of St. John's Lutheran Grade School, where he had served on several committees.
He was a former member of the Buckley Lions Club.
Rosalie Miller
WATSEKA -- Rosalie M. Miller, 80, of Watseka, died today (March 22, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service, at the Baier Funeral Home, Watseka.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka, where she was a member. The Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the City of St. Jude's, Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.
She was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Perlakie Hegedus.

Mrs. Miller had worked at the E.C.C. factory of Watseka.
She was a member of the Grandmother's Club and the CCW of her church.
She enjoyed puzzles and crocheting.
Alma Bower
ST. ANNE - Alma Bower, 81, of St. Anne, formerly of Hamilton, Ohio, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton, Ohio.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Millville Avenue Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member. James Haynes and Rev. Neil Kellam will officiate.
Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park, Hamilton, Ohio.
She was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Jackson County, Ky., the daughter of John and Rosa Price Johnson.
Her husband, Lloyd Bower, whom she married
Nov. 25, 1947, in Covington, Ky., died Oct. 6, 2001.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Ray and Rosemary Bower of St. Anne, Rev. Phil and Brenda Bower of Hurricane, W.Va.; one sister, Rachel McDaniel of Hamilton, Ohio; one brother, John Johnson Jr. of Hamilton, Ohio; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One brother, Marvin Johnson; and one sister, Forest Johnson Popp, are deceased.
She was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a surgical tech.
Mrs. Bower taught Sunday School for over 40 years, receiving the distinguished service award in the Nazarene Church.

AROMA PARK - Ina Mae Lamb, 66, of Aroma Park, died Friday (March 15, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Kankakee, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. service at the Salvation Army. Majors Beth and Ben Stillwell, her daughter and son-in-law, will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley, Salvation Army, or Aroma Fire Protection District.
Mrs. Lamb was born April 3, 1935 in Kankakee, the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Mae Stilley Smith. Her parents are deceased.

One brother, Jim Smith; and her stepfather, Don Huffman, are deceased.
Mrs. Lamb was a self-employed beautician.
She was a Democratic election judge, was a member of the Salvation Army-League of Mercy, Scampers Camping Club. She also was a former Sunday School teacher, Girl Guard Leader, and Silver Star Mother.
She was a member of the Aroma Fire Protection District Auxiliary, and was formerly active in 4-H.
Marie Reinhart
BONFIELD - Visitation for Marie Z. White Reinhart, 80, of Bonfield, will be from 3-6 p.m. today at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. service at First Baptist Church in Manteno. Rev. Earl Lawson will officiate.
Visitation will also be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Meredith Funeral Chapel in Goreville.
Graveside services will follow at Busby cemetery in Goreville.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, American Heart Association or Alzheimers.
Mrs. Reinhart died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
She was born Nov. 14, 1921 in Herron, the daughter of Ted and Eva Martin Craig.
Her first husband, Robert White, died Nov. 5, 1985.

July 17, 1993 in Manteno, of Bonfield; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bill and Sandy White of Mattoon, David and Barbara White of Westminister, Colo., Lowell and Eula White of Kankakee, Terry White of Cypress, Texas; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Grant, Debby and Mike Spilsbury, all of Kankakee, Sharen and Jerry Anderson of Bradley, Rose and Calvin Zelhart of Momence, Mary Haslett of San Diego, Calif.; three stepsons, Paul W. Reinhart, Clifford Reinhart, both of Bonfield, David and Linda Reinhart of Pennsylvania; four stepdaughters, Anita Templeton, Susan Reinhart, both of Pennsylvania, Helen and Robert Healy of Kankakee, Julie and Eddie Rodgers of Kankakee; one sister, Shirley Schriefer of Bradley; two brothers, Charles Craig of Venna, Paul Craig of Seattle, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Reinhart worked at Manteno State Hospital for 30 years before she retired.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Manteno.
She enjoyed reading and writing poems, which she sent to Voice of the People at the Daily Journal.
