Weldon J. Regnier

BEAVERVILLE - Weldon J. Regnier, 74, of Beaverville, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at his home. He had been mayor of Beaverville since 1970, and prior to that a member of the Village Board.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with an 8 p.m. wake service, at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beaverville. The Rev. Robert Coleman will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Beaverville.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Iroquois or St. Mary's Restoration.
Mr. Regnier was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Beaverville, the son of Wilfred and Melva Castongia Regnier.
Surviving are his wife, the former Joyce Rechkemmer, whom he married Oct. 18, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beaverville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Perry and Betty Regnier of Beaverville, and Lee and Dawn Regnier of Buckley; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and John Wingerter of Beaverville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sharon and Jack Schultz, and Judy Regnier, all of St. Anne; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Myron and Mae Regnier of Tennessee, Donald and Jeannie Regnier, Jack Regnier, all of Kankakee, Terry and Lorna Regnier of Bradley, and Mike Regnier of St. Anne; seven step-grandchildren; and two goddaughters.
One son, Ronald Regnier; and one nephew, Daryl Regnier, are deceased.
Mr. Regnier was retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
He had been mayor of Beaverville since 1970, and prior to that a member of the Village Board.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Army Engineers.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beaverville, a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Regnier was a member of the Clifton VFW, the Beaverville American Legion, where he was current commander, and enjoyed his antique tractor.

Annie Mae Brooks

UTICA, N.Y. - Annie Mae Brooks, 90, of Utica, N.Y., formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Saxton Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Revels T-Gibson Funeral Home, 144 Eagle St., Utica, N.Y. 13501.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Baptist Church, Utica.
She was born Nov. 28, 1911, in Camilla, Ga., the daughter of Silas and Annie Cochran.
Surviving are one daughter, Josephine Jackson of Utica; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Welth Cochran of Charlotte, N.C., I.C. and Addie Cochran of Georgia, Postelle and Dorothy Cochran of Indiana; three sisters, Lessie Lue Prude of Chebanse, Susie Lue Forbes of Bradley, Lucille C. Pankey of Kankakee; one brother-in-law, Jesse Franks of Kankakee; two sisters-in-law, Azella Cochran of Flint, Mich., Mamie Cochran of Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Ella Brooks of Rome, N.Y.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sons, Robert James and Ampie Cochran; 10 brothers; and four sisters, are deceased.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and the Mother's Board for many years.

Atlas "Kid" Terrell

ST. ANNE - Atlas "Kid" Terrell, 91, of St. Anne, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at his home. Arrangements are pending at the Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.
RANKIN - Audrey Inez Deck, 75, of Prineville, Ore., the mother of a Buckley resident, died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Ochoco Care Center, Prineville.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Mark Haller will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Paxton.
Surviving are three daughers and two sons-in-law, Lana and Richard Vogel of Gifford, Marsha Schultz of Rockbridge, Mo., Shelley and Stan Koschnick of Buckley; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary and Jeanette Deck of Hoopeston, Randall Deck and Monty Deck, both of Prineville, Kevin Deck of Paxton; one sister, Viola Hoover of Clarence; three brothers, Avery Atkins and Glenn Atkins, both of Paxton, Earl Atkins of Rankin; and 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dale A. "Butch" Bulthuis Sr.

ONARGA - Visitation for Dale A. "Butch" Bulthuis Sr., 60, of Onarga, will be from 3 p.m. Sunday until the 7 p.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga. Rev. James Small will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Onarga Fire Department and Ambulance Service.
Mr. Bulthuis died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
He was born Sept. 11, 1941, in Chicago, the son of Peter and Loretta Sowinski Bulthuis. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Nora Mountford, whom he married April 6, 1963, in Cicero, of Onarga; three sons, Dale Bulthuis Jr. of Aroma Park, Douglas Bulthuis of Kankakee, David Bulthuis of Onarga; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Bulthuis of Northlake, Robert Bulthuis of Countryside; one sister, Doreen Brisch of Manitowoc, Wis.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
One sister, Kimberly, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Bulthuis had been a truck driver and salesman for Schwan's.
He loved feeding birds, squirrels and gardening.

Elizabeth C. Monjon

EARL PARK, Ind. - Elizabeth C. Monjon, 86, of Earl Park, and the mother of area residents, died Wednesday (March 14, 2002) at Jasper County Hospital of Rensselaer.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, with a 6:30 p.m. Eastern Star service, at the McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, 214 E. Washington St., Kentland, Ind., where services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Earl Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Earl Park Presbyterian Church or to the Wabash Valley Mental Health of Rensselaer.
She was born Dec. 6, 1915, near Kentland, the daughter of Claude and Cora Merle Spitler McDaniel.
Her husband, Earl Monjon, whom she married in 1935, died Aug. 8, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Paulissen of Clifton, Myrna Paulissen of Kankakee; four sons, Terry Monjon of Newark, Del., Kenton Monjon of Elkhart, Ind., George "Max" Monjon and Martin "Bucky" Monjon, both of Earl Park; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and one granddaughter are deceased.
She was a graduate of Earl Park High School.
Mrs. Monjon worked as a cook for Earl Park High School and Jennie E. Caldwell Memorial Home of Earl Park for several years.
She was a member of Earl Park Presbyterian Church and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Benton County.

Ernest M. Hornbuckle

SHELDON - Private burial for Ernest M. Hornbuckle, 67, of Sheldon, will be held in the Sheldon cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
Arrangements are by the Knapp Funeral Home, Sheldon.
Mr. Hornbuckle died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Hornbuckle had been a welder at A.O. Smith, Ropers and Monon Corporation.
He was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Bethel Springs, Tenn., the son of William Marley and Zina Arizona Thacker Hornbuckle.
Surviving are his wife, the former Iva Effie Warren, whom he married Aug. 16, 1958, in Sheldon; one daughter, Debra Sue Thompson of Sheldon; one son and daughter-in-law, Victor Ernest and Lisa Sue Hornbuckle of Sheldon; one grandchild; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Maynard and Kay Hornbuckle, Manford and Shirley Hornbuckle, Bobby Jean Hornbuckle, Charles T. Hornbuckle, all of Tennessee; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jewel Francis Elem, Mary Dee and Randall Flatt, Barbara Maxine and Joe Branden, all of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
One brother; one sister; and two nephews, are deceased.
He was a member of the Baptist Faith.
He was a Korean War veteran.
He enjoyed working on cars.

Francis E. Halpin Sr.

GARDNER - Visitation for Francis E. Halpin Sr., 77, of Gardner, will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, South Wilmington, where he was a devoted member. Rev. Bob Maternoski will officiate.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner cemetery, Braceville. Pallbearers will be Scott and Chris Halpin, Aaron and Adam Wendel, Justin and Jason Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Cullick and David Simms.
Memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Grundy County Hospice or to the South Wilmington Fire Department.
Mr. Halpin died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Morris Hospital from cancer.
Mr. Halpin was a lifelong grain and dairy farmer in Grundy County.
He was a former Greenfield Township Road Commissioner and had previously served as a board member of the Gardner South Wilmington High School and the South Wilmington Grade School for a total of 27 years.
He was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Grundy County, the son of James and Elizabeth Weber Halpin.
Surviving are his wife, the former Frances A. Adams, whom he married June 10, 1947, in Wilmington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Dan Beldon of Morris, Donna and Allen Morris of Coal City; one son and daughter-in-law, Francis Jr. "Frank" and Debra Halpin of Gardner; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Omer and Dorothy Halpin of Gardner, James and Gloria Halpin of Bonfield; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, William Halpin; and three sisters, Cecilia Dillon, Irene LeClaire and Mary Ruder, are deceased.
He was active in the Grundy County Farm Bureau, the East Brooklyn Board, the Essex Lions Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 967 in Morris and the Knights of Columbus 1574 in Bradiwood.
He loved woodworking.
He enjoyed fruits and vegetables from his garden and a good card game.

George Meadows

LARGO, Fla. - George Meadows, 66, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Bradley, died Monday (March 4, 2002) at Veterans Hospital at Bay Pines, Fla., after an extended illness.
Cremation rites were held with the American Legion Honor Guard present.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Meadows worked as a diesel mechanic and foreman at 4K Garage for 18 years and 10 years at Azzarelli Construction Company in Kankakee.
He was born Dec. 16, 1935, in Montoan, Ky., the son of Ted and Dessie Meadows. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Claire Trumble, whom he married Feb. 8, 1969; one son, Charles Meadows of Kentucky; one daughter, Angel Marie Meadows of Santa Clara, Calif.; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Robin and Lisa Trumble; and several grandchildren; two sisters, Lydia Brannom of Kentucky, Sue Ferren of Tennessee; two brothers, Kelly Meadows of Bradley, Ill., Clarence Meadows of Kentucky; one niece; and two nephews, including Jack and Debbie Hampton of Bourbonnais.
Two brothers, James and Cecil; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Becky Mitchell and Marie and J.D. Hampton, are deceased.
He was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force.

Jack E. LeDoux

SARASOTA, Fla. - Jack E. LeDoux, 71, of Sarasota, Fla., and a former area resident, died Saturday (March 9, 2002) at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, Fla.
Services were held March 12 near his home in Sarasota.
Services will be held at a later date in Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to a charity in his name.
Mr. LeDoux had been an account executive at Roper for 30 years.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Becky LeDoux of Chebanse, Kenneth and Patty of Warsaw, Ohio, Mark Jordan of Wild Rose, Wis., Matthew Jordan of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Denise Johnson of Biloxi, Miss.; four sisters, Anna-Marie, JoAnne, Anne-Louise and Jackie; one brother, Bob; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He was a former parishioner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Momence.
He enjoyed sailing, playing tennis and working with horses.

Leota Irene Warren

SHELDON - Visitation for Leota Irene Warren, 85, of Sheldon, will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home, Sheldon. Revs. Van Haas and Gary Minard will officiate.
Burial will be in the Sheldon cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, Paul Keller House or RP Roberts Friendship Home.
Mrs. Warren died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at her home.
She was born April 14, 1916, in Donovan, the daughter of Asa and Effie Morrison Lee.
Her husband, George Warren, whom she married Sept. 4, 1937, in Kentland, Ind., died July 28, 1972.
Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Iva Hornbuckle and Martha and Melvin Dean Hansen, all of Sheldon, Irene Parbs of Gilman; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Mary Warren, Walter and Julia Anne Warren, all of Sheldon; one sister, Alice Bridgeman of Goodland, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Sheldon Church of Christ and enjoyed doing wordsearch and reading.

Marie Z. Reinhart

BONFIELD - Marie Z. Reinhart, 80, of Bonfield, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Visitation is tentatively set for Sunday with services on Monday.
Arrangements are by Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors, Kankakee.

Mary Muller

SHELDON - Mary Muller, 74, of Sheldon, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Iroquois Resident Home, Watseka.
Arrangements are pending at the Knapp Funeral Home, Sheldon.

Mary Schwark

HERSCHER - Mary Schwark, 106, of Herscher, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Provena Heritage Village, Kankakee.
Born Nov. 19, 1895 near Goodrich, she was one of three Kankakee County residents who lived in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
She married William Schwark in 1919. The couple spent many years farming in the Bonfield area before moving to Herscher. Her husband died in 1972.
She was present when the first Herscher church was built in 1908; a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, built in 1958; and she cut the ribbon for the new Trinity Lutheran addition in 1991.
When time came for her to move to Provena Heritage Village, she donated her home as a residence for the vicars of her church.
Arrangements are pending at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.

Phyllis M. Ecker

BUCKLEY - Phyllis M. Ecker, 72, a lifelong Buckley resident, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, after a short illness.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Buckley, and from 1:30 p.m. Monday until the 2:30 p.m. services at St. John's Lutheran Church, Buckley, where she was a member. Rev. Mark J. Haller will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Buckley.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born July 11, 1929, in Buckley, the daughter of Wilbur and Wilma Bleich Lustfeldt.
Surviving are her husband, Delmer L. Ecker, whom she married April 15, 1950, at St. John's Church, Buckley; one brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Mary Lustfeldt of rural Onarga; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a 1947 graduate of Buckley High School.
Mrs. Ecker had formerly worked at Bear Brand Hosiery in Paxton.
She enjoyed crocheting and cooking.

Wayne Leon Cullins

Wayne Leon Cullins, 80, of Kankakee, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel.
