Paul Gilbert
Visitation for Paul A. Gilbert, 77, of Bourbonnais, will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at Central Christian Church, Bourbonnais, where he was a member. Rev. Richard Sagarsee will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Gilbert died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home.
Mr. Gilbert had worked over 30 years at A.O. Smith.
He was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Kankakee, the son of Charles Roy and Mabel Cote Gilbert.
His first wife, Clare Gilbert, is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former May J. DeRensis, whom he married
Aug. 12, 1990, at Central Christian Church; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Larry Enz of Kankakee; one stepson, Ira P. Bullock of Momence; two stepdaughters, Nora O'Blennis of Danville, Barbara and David Emling of Bradley; one sister, Sylvia Enders of Bourbonnais; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Melvin and Liz Gilbert and Beverly Gilbert, all of Kankakee; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
One brother, Ronald Gilbert, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
He enjoyed repairing cars and garage sales.
Marilyn Trent
PEOTONE - Visitation for Marilyn J. Trent, 66, of Peotone, formerly of Chicago Heights, will be from 2 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. service Saturday at Fred C. Hub Memorial Chapel in Chicago Heights.
Inurnment will be in the family Columbarium.
Memorials may be made for Masses.
Mrs. Trent died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
She was born Sept. 2, 1935, in Steger, the daughter of Lloyd and Alice Phrase Cox. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Clarence W. Trent Jr., whom she married
Jan. 14, 1956 at First United Methodist Church in Chicago Heights, died Sept. 23, 1999.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Holly Bauer, Tammy and Rick Bauer, and Sally and James Senzel, all of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sons, Thomas R. Trent, and Jeff Trent, both of Peotone; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Trent enjoyed collecting antiques and playing Bingo.
Lorene Sampson
Lorene J. Sampson, 69, of Kankakee, died Thursday (Feb. 28, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Kankakee.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fair Haven Church of God in Christ in Kankakee. Rev. Carl Randle will officiate.
Burial will be in Momence cemetery.
Mrs. Sampson was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Hopkins Park, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Merrill Tetter. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Willie Leon Sampson, whom she married
Oct. 12, 1974 in Chicago, of Kankakee; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Samuel and Mary Jackson, Ronald Jackson, and Dwaine Jackson, all of Kankakee, Paul and Lisa Sampson of Columbus, Miss.; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Violet and Sylvester Smith of Chicago, Rita and Barry Smith of Park Forest, Annette Adams of Golden Valley, Minn., Phyllis Rodgers of Fort Wayne, Ind., Talona and Terry Williams of Kankakee; one brother, Leonard Tetter of Kankakee; 35 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Ethel Greenley, Marjorie Latty; one brother, Ivan Graves; and one daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson, are deceased.
Mrs. Sampson retired from Shapiro Developmental Center in 1985.
Kay Hudgens
MOMENCE - Visitation for Kay B. Hudgens, 83, of Momence, will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Rev. Dan Morris will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Mr. Hudgens had been an occupational therapist. He was the head of the Occupational Therapy Department at LaRabida Children's Hospital and then worked at Kankakee State Hospital.
Mr. Hudgens died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Stonecrest Manor, Momence.
He was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Goreville, the son of John and Birdie Fly Hudgens.
His wife, the former Garnet Varvel, whom he married
March 17, 1945, in Blue Mound, died Jan. 9, 1995.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Mark and Cheryl Hudgens of Bourbonnais, Michael V. and Desta Hudgens of Kankakee; two grandchildren, Sean Mark and Brittan Michael-Martin Hudgens; and nieces and nephews.
Brothers and sisters are deceased.
He was a member of the First Church of God in Kankakee.
He enjoyed flower arranging and genealogy. He had won awards for his poetry.
Dr. Harold Keegan
Dr. Harold R. Keegan, 72, of Kankakee, physician and surgeon who had been on the staff at Riverside Medical Center and Provena St. Mary's Hospital since 1968, died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center emergency room.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Dennis Settles will officiate.
Burial will be in Arlington National cemetery.
Dr. Keegan was acting chief of neurosurgery from 1969-1971 at Cook County Hospital and was a clinical assistant professor in surgery at the Chicago Medical School from 1969-1974. He was on the staff at Children's Memorial Hospital, Augustana Hospital and Lutheran General Hospital, all in Chicago from 1962-1964; Sunrise Hospital and Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital, both in Las Vegas, Nev., from 1964-1966; St. Mary Curwin Hospital, Pueblo, Colo. from 1966-1968 and Catholic Health Partners (North) St. Joseph Hospital and Illinois Masonic Medical Center, both in Chicago, since 2000.
He had been a consultant/review analyst for Iowa Foundation for Medical Care, the Sunderbruch Corporation, Crescent Counties Foundation for Medical Care, Comprehensive Health Systems, Inc., Encompass Health Management Systems and Hines and Associates, Inc.
Memorials may be made to the Georgetown University Medical School.
He was born Aug. 9, 1929, the son of Harold R., M.D. and Julia G. Sellins Keegan.
Surviving are his wife, the former Bonnie Borchers, whom he married
Sept. 2, 1964, in Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Harold III and Shannon Keegan, Christopher Keegan, all of Chicago; two daughters, Kimberly Keegan of Naperville, Deirdre Keegan of Chicago; and two sisters, Jeanne Burke and Joan Keegan, both of Naples, Fla.; mother-in-law, Cevia Borchers of Danforth; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Bob Becker and Judy Borchers, all of Chicago; and one brother-in-law, Jerry and Olive Borchers of Athens, Tenn.
Dr. Keegan graduated with honors from Loyola Academy in three years. He received a bachelor's of science degree Summa Cum Laude from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in 1950 and a medical degree Cum Laude from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1954 where he was first in his class.
He did his internship from 1954-1955, his residency in neurosurgery from 1958-1960 and was chief resident/instructor-neurosurgery from 1960-1961, all at the University of Chicago. He was a fellowship/instructor for the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness, Bethesda, Md. through the University of Chicago from 1961-1962.
He was a U.S. Navy flight surgeon from 1955-1957 and was a retired commander, Medical Corps in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
He was certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
He was a member of the Illinois Medical Society, the Kankakee County Medical Society, the Illinois Neurosurgical Society, the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (Joint Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care), the Chicago Neurosurgical Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha, Society of Sigma Xi and the Illinois Chapter, American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Keegan had several papers presented and published in many established journals.
He enjoyed reading.
Allen Dobbins
GENEVA - Allen Kent Dobbins, 56, of Geneva, and the brother of a Kankakee resident, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at Delnor-Community Hospital.
A memorial service was held Feb. 26 at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, Geneva. His brother, Rev. Paul Dobbins officiated.
He was born April 17, 1945.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Paul E. and Mathilda Dobbins of Kankakee;
Mr. Dobbins was an architect known for home building, institutional design/redesign consultation. He participated in the renovation of the Aurora Public Library, and built a home for the St. Charles resident who invented the moveable traffic cone for road construction. He also was a canvas artist and furniture redecorator.
Herbert Brooks,
Kroehler retiree
Visitation for Herbert S. "Curly" Brooks, 82, a longtime resident of Bourbonnais, will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday.
Burial will be in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital.
He died Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003) at Manor Care Nursing Center in Peoria.
Mr. Brooks was retired from Kroehler's.
He was born Jan. 22, 1921, in Woodland, the son of Stanley and Lillian Settles Brooks.
Surviving are his wife, the former Vernell M. Cote, whom he married
Sept. 25, 1948, in Kankakee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Toni Brooks of Washington, Ill., Gary and Dorita Hamende of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Terry Tester of Bradley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Jean Brooks of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Kenneth and Mary Kay Brooks of Bourbonnais; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Patricia Marcotte, is deceased.
He enjoyed bowling and watching high school sports.
Ethel Wenzelman
Services for Ethel Wenzelman, 90, of Kankakee, were held Feb. 27 at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. John Keifer officiated.
Mrs. Wenzelman died Feb. 25, 2003.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Janet Johnston, Mike, Rick, John and Jim Wenzelman and Pat Orrison.
Tressie Hiles
A funeral Mass for Tressie L. Hiles, 80, of Kankakee, was celebrated Feb. 27 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Settles officiated.
Mrs. Hiles died Feb. 23, 2003.
Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were J. Christopher Hiles, Scott Seamark, Jodie Dorfler, Doug and Juli Seamark and Jennifer Coash. Honorary pallbearer was Lauri Dever.
