DWIGHT -- Edith Amelia Thompson, 95, of Dwight, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003) at OSF St. James Hospital.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight.
Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Goodfarm, or to the American Cancer Society.
She was born July 27, 1907, in Saunemin, the daughter of Albert H. and Carrie Peck Sancken.
Her husband, Hans "Chris" Thompson, whom she married
April 8, 1925, in Cullom, died Oct. 1, 1958.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Marion Thompson of Dwight, Kenneth Thompson and friend, Betty Day of Gibson City; five daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Norman Jones of Pekin, Dorothy and Charles Schrum of Dwight, Ellen and Keith Girard of Manville, Deloris and Donald Lockwood of Herscher, Diane and Eugene Waldo of Colona; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eunice Domina of Oak Lawn, Carol and Harold Blankenship of Decatur, Lois Carlyle of Mattoon, Esther and Estel Gregory of Decatur; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Three sons, one sister and seven brothers are deceased.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Goodfarm
Vivian Cain
WATSEKA -- Services for Vivian Ferry Cain, 78, of Watseka, were held Feb. 22 at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. David Todd officiated.
Mrs. Cain died Feb. 20, 2003.
Burial was in GAR cemetery in Watseka. Pallbearers were Lee Ferry, Mark Cross, Clark Crawford, Tom Freehill, Doug Hasbargen and Robert Leek.

GILMAN -- Visitation for Colleen Rae Cotter Young, 30, of Kenosha, Wis., formerly of Gilman, will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at the Danforth Reformed Church. Rev. Donald J. MacDonald III will officiate.
Burial will be in the Danforth cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
She died Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Mrs. Young was a night auditor for the Radisson Hotel in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. She had also worked for the Pizza Palace in Gilman; owned and operated CJ's Pizza in Chatsworth and lived in Mishawaka, Ind., for two years working for the Marriott Hotel in South Bend, Ind.
She was born June 13, 1972, in Watseka, the daughter of Russell E. and Iris R. Lietz Cotter. Her father is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Lewis Young, whom she married
July 1, 1995, in Danforth, of Kenosha; one son, Joseph Lewis "Joey" Young II at home; her mother, Iris R. Cotter of Crossville, Tenn.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Darrin Cotter of Crossville, Tenn., Dean and Cynthnia Cotter of Mokena; aunts and uncles, one niece and two nephews.
Her grandparents are deceased.
She was a 1990 graduate of Iroquois West High School where she was active in FHA and band. She also graduated from the Lexington Institute of Chicago with a degree in hotel and restaurant management.
Mrs. Young was a former member of the Danforth Reformed Church.
She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines.
Norma Burmeister
PEOTONE -- Norma J. Burmeister, 67, of Peotone, formerly of Monee, died today (Feb. 21, 2003) at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.
A memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday until the 4 p.m. memorial service at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone. Rev. James Seaman will officiate.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church of Peotone.
Miss Burmeister was a retired employee of American Lock of University Park.
She was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Monee, the daughter of Irvin H. and Elda E. Behrens Burmeister. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Beverly Burmeister of Monee; and one sister and brother-in-law, Joann and W. Gene Warner of Holyrood, Kan.
She was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Peotone.

She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Earl Park, Ind., the daughter of Oral L. and Delilah Cochran Lowe.
Her first husband, Robert "Flip" Ferry, whom she married
July 8, 1944, in Illinois, died in 1986.
She then married
Albert Cain in 1990. He died June 22, 2000.
Surviving are one son, Robert Ferry of Watseka; one sister and brother-in-law, Annis and Bill Leek of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Irene Lowe of Watseka; and two grandchildren.
Two brothers, two sisters and one son are deceased.
Mrs. Cain was a member of the First Christian Church.
She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Myrna Wieggel
BEECHER -- Myrna Lee Wieggel, 66, of Beecher, died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) at her home.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the 2 p.m. services at the Zion United Church of Christ in Dyer, Ind., where she was a member. Rev. Tom Ewing will officiate.
Burial will be in the Zion cemetery, Dyer.
Hack Funeral Home in Beecher is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 5, 1936, in Cedar Lake, Ind., the daughter of Arthur and Gladys Wille Brands. Her father is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Myron Wieggel, of Beecher; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becki and Rick Yukon of Cedar Lake, Ind., Dana and Adam Shearer of Dyer, Ind.; her mother of Cedar Lake; and four grandchildren.
One daughter, Tami and one sister, Sharon Neitzel are deceased.

CISSNA PARK -- Services for Elaine M. Jacob, 72, of Cissna Park, were held Feb. 21 at St. John's Lutheran Church-Ash Grove, Onarga. Rev. Mark Lohnes officiated.
Mrs. Jacob died Feb. 18, 2003.
Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery-Ash Grove, Onarga. Pallbearers were Steve Morton, Jerry Knapp, Tom Yergler, Charlie Williams, Myron Jacob and Roy Luecke.
Dorothy Hamilton
A funeral Mass for Dorothy Hamilton, 90, of Kankakee, was celebrated Feb. 21 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Kankakee. Rev. Dennis Settles officiated.
Mrs. Hamilton died Feb. 17, 2003.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles, Keith and Mark Buell, James, Daniel and Matthew Jacob. Honorary Pallbearers were Fran Brosseau, Marie Buckman, Jan Cox, Muriel DeMarah, Olive O'Reilly and Thelma Striegel.

ELWOOD -- Jane A. Ginter, 61, of Elwood, sister of a Wilmington resident, died suddenly Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington.
Private interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Ginter was born July 3, 1941 in Joliet, the daughter of Frederick and Doris Nickel. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Ginter, whom she married
in 1959 at the Elwood Presbyterian Church; seven children, Donna and John Hendrickson of Thomasboro, Bobby Jr. and Eileen Ginter, Michael and Martha Ginter, Lori and Dave Greenback, Keri and Chuck Simpson, all of Elwood, David Ginter and John Ginter of Joliet; two sisters and one brother, Hallie and Tom Price of Joliet, Jerri and Wes Greenwood of Wilmington, and Mike and Pam Nickel of Channahon; and seven grandchildren.
Her stepfather, John Mathews; two sisters, Penny and Jackie; and one brother, Donald Nickel, are deceased.

SEBRING, Fla. -- Inez Ann Guest, 69, of Sebring, Fla., a former local resident, died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) at her home in Florida.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until the noon services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Pastor Bob Fear will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4300 National Children's Home.
Ms. Guest was born Dec. 27, 1933 in Reddick, the daughter of Francis M. Sr. and Zelma D. Milling Guest. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Jack Ericson of Rogers, Ark., Kay and Marion Smith of Urbana, Jean and Don Baling of Warrenton, Mo., Verla Jorden of Moline, Rena and Bob Eich of Herscher; one uncle, Harold Milling of Kankakee; special friends, Jane Wolf and Charlene Grasser; six nephews; four nieces; and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Two brothers, Mick and Jack Guest; and one brother-in-law, Bill Jorden, are deceased.
Ms. Guest worked for Amberg File in Kankakee before moving to Florida, and for Wal-Mart in Florida.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4300, American Legion Auxiliary in Sebring, Fla., and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4300 National Home for Children.
