Mark Johnson
WATSEKA -- Mark D. Johnson, 50, of Watseka, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, following a long illness.
Private services will be held in Wyoming.
Arrangements are by Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 3, 1953 in Watseka, the son of Bernard and Margaret Gillfillan Johnson.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Watseka, are one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Chancey Hoffman of Laramie, Wyo.; one son, Jeffrey Johnson of Randolph, Utah; one sister, Anne Scharf of Watseka; one brother, Steve Johnson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Johnson worked as an operator for Schlumberger for 20 years.
He enjoyed reading and cooking.
Isabel Kammann
Visitation for Isabel M. Kammann, 77, of Kankakee, will be from 2-6 p.m. today at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. John Antczak will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Kammann died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) at Westwood Oaks in Kankakee.
She was born Nov. 22, 1925 in Milford, the daughter of Thomas W. and Isabel LaMotte Molloy.
Her husband, William J. Kammann, whom she married
Nov. 25, 1947 in Kankakee, died March 15, 1987.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, William J. Kammann Jr. of Portland, Ore., James J. and Pam Kammann of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol Woolard of Bakersfield, Calif., Marita and William Stokes of Kankakee; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Rose Kammann and June Major; and one aunt.
One brother, Vernon Molloy; and a sister, Mary Ann Hendrickson, are deceased.
Mrs. Kammann worked many years as a medical secretary and later as a travel agent.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.
She graduated from Milford High School, was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the high school band.
She enjoyed painting, using her computer, music and playing cards.
Jesse Murphy
Jesse J. Murphy, 58, of Kankakee, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.
Survivors include his wife, Iziola Murphy.
Services are tentatively set for Saturday.
Arrangements are by Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.
Sean Murphy
CHATSWORTH -- Sean P. Murphy, 17, of Laura, formerly of Chatsworth, died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Chatsworth. Rev. Richard Brunskill will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troop 91 of Chillicothe, Ill.
Arrangements are by Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home in Peoria.
Sean was born Aug. 30, 1985 in Fairbury, the son of Patrick and Linda Clark Murphy.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Laura, are two sisters, Danielle and Shannon Murphy, both at home; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Clark of Piper City.
His paternal grandparents are deceased.
Sean was a junior at Princeville High School.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America-Troop 91 at Chillicothe, where he was studying to receive the Eagle Scout Award.
Myrtle Peck
DECATUR -- Myrtle "Mickey" Peck, 83, of Decatur, formerly of Kankakee, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at Manor Care Health Services in Decatur after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kankakee Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Multiple Sclerosis Association.
Mrs. Peck was born April 14, 1919 in Kankakee, the daughter of Richard Henry and Mary Ann Knox Allie.
Her first husband, Clarence Wischnowski, whom she married
May 8, 1937 in Kankakee, died April 17, 1961.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley Russell Peck, whom she married
in September 1969, of Decatur; two daughters and one son-in-law, Peggy and Larry LaCost of Kankakee, Karen Williams of Metropolis; one stepson, Michael and Karen Peck of Akron, Ohio; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gladys and Bill Patchett of Arlington, Texas, Elaine Tolman of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
One sister, Dorothy Feldman; and a brother, Harold Allie, are deceased.
Mrs. Peck was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur, an associate member of St. John's Methodist Church in Sebring, Fla., and a long-time member of the Kiwanianne Club of Decatur.
She was employed by Osco Drug and was a sales associate of Turk Furniture in Kankakee.
After moving to Decatur, she and her husband opened Peck Auto Supply, Inc.
She was the office manager until her retirement in 1984.
Jean Pelehowski
GILMAN -- Jean A. Pelehowski, 59, of Gilman, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at her home.
There will be no services.
Friends may meet with the family at a memorial gathering from 2-5 p.m. today at her home.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
Arrangements are by Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
Mrs. Pelehowski was born May 11, 1943 in Kankakee, the daughter of Elwood Gray and Esther Soucie. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Holborow of Piper City, Vickie Klecker of Crescent City; two sons, Calvin Hickson of Chebanse, Brian Pelehowski of Ashkum; and 10 grandchildren.
One son, Steve Pelehowski, is deceased.
Mrs. Pelehowski was a chemical worker at Cognis in Kankakee.
Ruth Ritter
MOMENCE -- Visitation for Ruth Elizabeth Ritter, 87, of Momence, will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. service at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Momence. Rev. Keith GeRue will officiate.
Burial will be in Shrontz cemetery in Momence at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, to the family, or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Arrangements are by Hub Funeral Chapel in Grant Park.
Mrs. Ritter died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) at her home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1915 in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Edward and Frieda Dueker Keutemeyer.
Her husband, Clifford W. Ritter, whom she married
Nov. 16, 1946 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Petersburg, died Sept. 2, 1994.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Sr. and Patricia Ritter of Steger, David and Shirley Ritter of Grant Park; two daughters, Linda Brister and Margaret Benoit, both of Momence; one brother, Norman Kuetemeyer of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Arlene Laue; two brothers, Henry and Edward Kuetemeyer; and three sisters, Mildred Weichbrodt, Martha Sherwood and Jeanette Fanello, are deceased.
Mrs. Ritter worked as a waitress at the TNT Restaurant in Momence, and owned a tavern.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Momence.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards, working crossword puzzles and baking cookies.
Frank Romito Sr.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. -- Frank Romito Sr., 76, of Pinellas Park, Fla., formerly of Kankakee, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 2003) at his home.
Mr. Romito was a retired restaurant owner.
He was born in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Romito of Pinellas Park; three sons, Rick Romito of Orlando, Fla., Frank Romito Jr. and Brian Romito, both of Bourbonnais; two daughters, Tammy Lezotte of Bourbonnais, Drena Grinstead of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one brother, Anthony Romito of Chicago; four sisters, Mary Biasella, Sue Cotton and Janet Rosati, all of Chicago and Frances Anderson of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. Romito was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society in Kankakee.
He moved to Florida in 1990 from Kankakee.
Ronald Schmidt
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Ronald A. Schmidt, 48, of Des Moines, Iowa, relative of Watseka residents, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Paxton, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Randall Surey will officiate.
Burial will be in Germanville cemetery in Chatsworth.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Schmidt was born Aug. 18, 1954 in Watseka, the son of Arthur and Doris Hummel Schmidt.
Surviving are his mother, Doris Stamm of Paxton; father and stepmother, Arthur and Patricia Schmidt of Paxton; two daughters, Dawn Schmidt of Ankeny, Iowa, Jennifer Osburn of Hutchinson, Kan.; one sister, Linda Kellerhals of Paxton; and his fiancee, Claudia Sweet of Des Moines, Iowa.
Mr. Schmidt was a forklift operator and had been employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Co.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the United Steel Workers Union 310.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing.
