Visitation for Elvin Leottis Cadle, 77, of Bradley, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of God Worship Center in Bourbonnais, where he was a member. Rev. Ric Sexton will officiate.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Blue Springs cemetery, Sharps Chapel, Tenn.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
He died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Mr. Cadle worked in the shipping department at Armstrong Tile for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
He was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Clairborne, Tenn., the son of Walter and Catherine Weaver Cadle.
Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Rutherford, whom he married
Sept. 28, 1946, in Robbins, Tenn., of Bradley; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Edwin and Merrie Cadle of Kankakee, Eddie and Cheryln Cadle of Bourbonnais, Tony and Pat Cadle and Victor and Julie Cadle, all of Kankakee, Tim Cadle and his fiancee, Robin Russman of Bradley, Tom and Nancy Cadle of Chebanse; six daughters and sons-in-law, Irleen and Ed Fields of Bradley, Doreen and Rev. Daniel Hanners of Zion, Gleneva and Paul Lundmark, Cathy and Pete Lundmark, Verleen and Vince Martyn, all of Bradley, Viola and Gary Meents of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Ward and Freeda Cadle of St. Anne; 33 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Roy Cadle; and one son, Ray Cadle, are deceased.
Mr. Cadle was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Military Police during World War II.
He enjoyed using his metal detector and camping.
John Herscher
centenarian dies
HERSCHER -- Visitation for John Lawrence Herscher, 102, of Herscher, a rural mail carrier who used to deliver the mail by horseback, will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher, where he was a member. Rev. John Kiefer will officiate.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery in Herscher.
Memorials may be made to the John and Rosa Herscher Endowed Scholarship Fund through Valparaiso University.
He died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Mr. Herscher was a rural mail carrier from August 1922 until his retirement in 1970. He started in Bonfield in 19222 with a 26 1/2 mile route. The dirt roads were so bad at that time that he had to carry mail by horseback, enduring the long ride in all types of weather. In 1934, he was transferred to a route in the Essex area, and stayed there until he retired.
He was born March 17, 1900, in Salina Township, the son of John and Louisa Horn Herscher.
His wife, the former Rosa Keerbs, whom he married
Aug. 18, 1924, at their family home in Herscher, died in February 1990.
One daughter, Dorothy Rose Herscher of Herscher, survives.
One brother, Frederick Herscher, is deceased.
He enjoyed raising chickens.
Mary Lurgio
WATSEKA -- Mary Ann Lurgio, 56, of Watseka, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Watseka, where she was a member. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memoiral Hospice or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
She was born June 9, 1946, in Chicago, the daughter of William J. and Dorothy Binchey Halpin.

Feb. 18, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nev., of Watseka; two stepdaughters, Terese and Tim Maurer of Oak Forest, Carm and Jim Fuscaldo of Tinley Park; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Paul Bronson of California, Dan O'Connell of Hinsdale; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Clare Halpin of Florida, John and Barbara Halpin of Chicago; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Louise Novak and Jane Grosvenor.
One sister, Noreen, is deceased.

DWIGHT -- Josephine Macketta, 90, of Dwight, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at Morris Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hager Memorial Home in Dwight.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dwight. Rev. James Rickey will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville.

She was born March 2, in Coal City, the daughter of John and Olympia Rovedotti.
Surviving are her husband, James Macketta, whom she married
Nov. 19, 1950, in Coal City, of Dwight; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Allen Gantzert of Dwight; two grandchildren, Ashley and Alyssa Gantzert, both of Dwight; three nieces; and one sister-in-law, Elsie Groff of Morris.
Four brothers, John, Nick, Henry and Frank Groff; and two sisters, Ann Bertagnoli and Rose Macaluso, are deceased.
Mark Haines
MILFORD -- Services for Mark L. Haines, 55, of Charleston, formerly of Milford, were held Feb. 8 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Ray Jackson officiated.
Mr. Haines died Feb. 5, 2003.
Burial was in Prairie Dell cemetery in Iroquois. Pallbearers were Doug and Tyler Voth, Jeff Gossett, Randy Crow, Mark Esarey and Sam Fanning.
Bertha Weber
CISSNA PARK -- Services for Bertha E. Weber, 90, of Cissna Park, were held Feb. 10 at the Danforth Reformed Church. Rev. Donald MacDonald officiated.
Mrs. Weber died Feb. 6, 2003.
Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery in Gilman. Pallbearers were Lyndsay, Lance, Kent, Courtney, Jason and Nicholas Weber, Lonny and Linne Rothery, Dustin, Michael and Marcus Weber and Phillip Johnson.
James Harding
BUCKLEY -- Services for James "Red" H. Harding, 68, of Buckley, were held Feb. 7 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Rev. Charles Shelquist officiated.
Mr. Harding died Feb. 3, 2003.
Burial was in Onarga cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Warns, Joe Kolosky, Jeremy and Joshua Young, Rusty Steffans and Hargis, Gary and Larry Harding.
Alberta Martikan

BRAIDWOOD -- Visitation for Alberta Helen Martikan, 84, of Braidwood, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Coleman Coates will officiate.
Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery, Braceville. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey and Michael Marques, Kevin and Chris Anderson, Herbert Zilm Jr. and Ronald Scott Hansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherman, Jason, Justin and Jordan Marques and Chris Zilm.

She died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Mrs. Martikan retired from Personal Products in Wilmington after over 15 years of service.
She was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Custer Township, the daughter of Fred H. and Anna H. Peuckert Zilm.
Her first husband, John A. Lissy, is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Alois "Louie" Martiken, whom she married
May 14, 1980, in Morris; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Carol Hansen of Mazon, Ronald and JoAnn Hansen of Morris; one daughter and son-in-law, Gertrude and Sherman Marques of Mazon; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty McAllister of Memphis, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
One grandson, Larry Marques; one great-granddaughter, Traci Marques; three brothers, Fred Zilm, Herbert Zilm and Daniel Zilm; and one sister, Shrley Small, are deceased.
Mrs. Martikan was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Holly Chapter 183 in Braidwood.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, feeding squirrels and birds and cooking.
Albert Bertrand

MOMENCE -- Visitation for Albert Bertrand, 88, of Momence, will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors in Kankakee.
Burial will be in Homewood Memorial cemetery, Homewood.
He died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Mr. Bertrand was a retired farmer.
He was born Dec. 8, 1914, the son of Walter and Blanche LaSage Bertrand.
Surviving are one brother, Duane Bertrand of Bourbonnais; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters are deceased.
Mr. Bertrand was a member of the Catholic church.
Joseph Bommarito
meat cutter, musician
SPRINGFIELD -- Joseph Bommarito, 86, of Springfield, and the father of a Bradley resident, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at Memorial Medical Center.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Church, where he was a member. Rev. John Titus officiated.
Graveside services, with military rites by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Camp Butler National cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Aloysius Church or to Subiaco Abby in Subiaco, Ark.
Staab Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bommarito was employed as a retail meat cutter for 15 years. He was president and business representative of Meat Cutter District Union Local 543 for over 23 years until his retirement.
He also managed the Frankie Leonard Orchestra and performed with the Springfield Municipal Band for 40 years.
Mr. Bommarito was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Sherman, the son of Giuseppi and Rosa Pellerito Bommarito.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jane Midiri, whom he married
in August 1957, of Springfield; two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Kinsel of Springfield, Angela and Kenneth Heitz of Bradley; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Joseph and Debra Bommarito of Springfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, Catherine Moriski; and three brothers, David, Isadore and Phil Bommarito, are deceased.
He was a 1935 graduate of Springfield High School.
Mr. Bommarito was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 32.
He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge 158 and a member of the Roman Cultural Society.
