William Neil Sherman, 53, of Kankakee, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10 a.m. services at Grace Baptist Church in Kankakee, where he was a member. Pastor John Marvin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to the State Troopers' Widows Association or to Grace Baptist Church.
Mr. Sherman was a master sergeant with the Illinois State Police.
He was born Dec. 3, 1949 in Macomb.
Surviving are his wife, the former Deanna Kay Sweet, whom he married
Dec. 6, 1968, in Colchester, of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Stephanie and Chad Dalton of Akron, Ohio, Jennifer Sherman of Kankakee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clinton and Darlene Sweet of Kankakee; and three grandchildren, Nolen Sherman of Kankakee, Riley Dalton and Megan Dalton, both of Ohio.
His mother and stepfather, Donald E. and Ardith Humphrey Hocker, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam.
Mr. Sherman was a big NASCAR fan and enjoyed motorcycles.
He loved having daily coffee with his buddies at Uncle Johnnis, and most importantly he loved his children and grandchildren. He was involved with several charities throughout the state and was always willing to help anyone who needed him.
Helen Williamson

WATSEKA -- Helen V. Williamson, 86, of Watseka, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the 10:30 a.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Jay DeMent will officiate.
Burial will be in Sugar Creek cemetery, Stockland.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the Woodland United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Mrs. Williamson began her teaching career in a one-room school, and retired from Woodland Grade School in 1981.
She was born April 17, 1916, in Prairie Green Township, the daughter of Henry and Ruth Williams Bury. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Samuel A. Williamson II, whom she married
in 1933 in Watseka, died Nov. 17, 1973.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Jeannie Williamson of Watseka; one granddaughter-in-law, Paula Williamson of Watseka; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Ross and Carrie Williamson; one sister, Jeanette Light of Manteno; special caregiver, Judy Jennings; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
One brother, Donald Bury; one sister, Evelyn Reed; and one grandson, Bruce Williamson, are deceased.
She graduated from Prairie Green Country School, Stockland High School and Pestalozzi Teachers Institute in Chicago.
Mrs. Williamson was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Lillian Donati
MOMENCE -- Lillian G. Donati, 91, formerly of Momence, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2003) at Watseka Health Care.
Burial will be in Montrose cemetery in Chicago.
Hack Funeral Home in Beecher is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Donati was a retired secretary for an insurance company.
She was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Chicago, the daughter of Francisco and Lillian Pope Donati.
Surviving are two sisters, June Richards and Aldonna Chirban; one brother, William Donati; and several nieces and nephews.
Seven brothers and six sisters are deceased.
Elsie Grey
Visitation for Elsie K. Grey, 87, of Bradley, will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, where she was a member.
Burial will be in Assumption cemetery in Ashkum.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Grade School.
She died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Provena Heritage Village in Kankakee.
Mrs. Grey retired from L and S Bait Company after over 25 years of service. She also delivered Meals on Wheels.
She was born July 31, 1915, in Ashkum, the daughter of Henry and Rose Miller Spies.
Her husband, Boniface Grey, whom she married
Nov. 28, 1934, in Ashkum, died Nov. 26, 1998.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ruth Grey of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Harold Splear of Kankakee; one sister-in-law, Dorothy LaRue of Libertyville; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters and three brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Grey was a member of the Kankakee Senior Citizens, the Twilight Twirlers and the Bradley-Bourbonnais Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed rug hooking, bingo and playing cards.
Margaret Hebert
Margaret M. "Maggie" Hebert, 89, of Kankakee, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home in Bourbonnais.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Kankakee.
Burial will be in the St. Anne Catholic cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Mrs. Hebert had worked at Provena St. Mary's Hospital and Riverside Medical Center, where she retired from, in the dietary department.
She was born Sept. 3, 1913, in Beaverville, the daughter of Clarence and Lena Stenke Grenhoff.
Her husband, Paul Hebert, whom she married
May 5, 1931, at St. Anne Catholic Church, died in 1971.
Surviving are one granddaughter, Paula Hall of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one grandson, James Cornellis of Nevada, Iowa; four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Cote of Bradley.
One son, Donald Hebert; one daughter, Lois Hebert; one grandson, Larry Hebert; one great-granddaughter, Cheyanna Hebert; three brothers, Henry, Wilbur and Donald Grenhoff; and two sisters, Ethel Glenn and Marie Easter, are deceased.
Mrs. Hebert was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles and country music.
Peter Kristich
CREST HILL -- Peter J. "Pete" Kristich, 87, of Crest Hill, and the father of a Coal City resident, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2003).
A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 8 at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet.
Burial was in Resurrection cemetery, Romeoville.
He was born in LaSalle, the son of Marco and Mildred Lazich Kristich.
His wife, the former Frances M. Zupancic, died in 1975.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Perry and Maryann Kristich of Crest Hill, Jim and Cathy Kristich of Lockport; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dorothy Cerven of Coal City, Mary Fran and Bill Battin of Crest Hill; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Stefanich, Catherine Grskovic and Rosemary and Ed Horvath; one brother, Mike Kristich; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SHELDON -- Visitation for Norman L. Luecke, 70, of Sheldon, will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.
Burial, with graveside military rites by the Sheldon VFW Post 8631, will be in Prairie Dell cemetery, Iroquois.
Memorials may be made to the Sheldon Church of Christ or to the American Heart Association.
He died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Mr. Luecke was a tool and die maker at TRW, A.O. Smith and T and D.
He was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Woodworth, the son of Walter and Mary Natchke Luecke.
Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Barr, whom he married
Oct. 2, 1955, in Sheldon; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Douglas Walter Luecke and special friend, Mary Mackey, both of Sheldon, Gary Lee and Nancy Luecke of Sheldon, Randy Melton and Tamar Luecke of Iroquois; two sisters, Helen Bohner of Milford, Lucille Schuler of Gilman; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Four brothers and one sister are deceased.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Luecke was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodworth and the Sheldon American Legion.
He loved his birds and squirrels.

COAL CITY -- Joseph A. "Pep" Macaluso, 84, of Coal City, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Rev. Mike Pennock will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Wilmington. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Grundy Community Hospice or to the Assumption Church Building Fund.
Mr. Macaluso worked for many years as a laborer on several area construction projects. In 1961, he began operating Pep's Home Liquor Store in Coal City, retiring in 1980.
He was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Coal City, the son of Anton and Ignatia Rocco Macaluso.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Korelc, whom he married
Nov. 1, 1941, at Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Jean Macaluso of Coal City; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Steve Monroe of Coal City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Harlev of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Sam, Mike and Nick Macaluso; and four sisters, Josephine Macaluso, Della Owens, Anne Marfise and Rose Amedeo, are deceased.
He was raised and educated in Coal City.
Mr. Macaluso was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
