David Miner
WILMINGTON -- David F. Miner, 58, of Wilmington, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Rev. Annette Nigro will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial cemetery in Joliet.
Mr. Miner was a retired maintenance engineer for Silver Cross Hospital and a former volunteer for the East Joliet Fire Department.
He was born June 27, 1944, in Joliet, the son of Fred and Gladys Miner. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Joyce Brown; one daughter, Lynda Miner of Elwood; one granddaughter; one sister, Jean Krause of Joliet; one brother-in-law, James Brown of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Ray and Fred Miner; one sister, Beverly Krizmanic; and one brother-in-law, Richard Krause, are deceased.
He was a NASCAR and stock car enthusiast.
Sylvester Novak

WILMINGTON -- Sylvester Novak, 89, of Wilmington, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Revs. David Lagos-Fonseca and Shirley Pulgar Hughes will officiate.
Burial will be in Troutman cemetery, Elwood.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Novak was a retired pipefitter with Local 422.
He was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Metlika, Yugoslavia, the son of Sylvester and Anne Novak. He migrated to the United States in his early teens.
His wife, Wilma Novak, is deceased.
Surviving are four daughters and one son-in-law, Shirlee Novak of Kinsman, Phyllis and Dwight Stineman of Iowa, Carol Oldman of Shobiner, Rita Miller of Wilmington; one son, Jim Miller of Wilmington; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Donna Novak of Morton; two sisters, Helen of Ohio and Anne of Chicago; one stepsister, Jenny Stariha of Minnesota; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
One brother, Stanley; one son-in-law, Jack Oldman; one grandson, Lawrence; and one great-grandson, Eric, are deceased.
Mr. Novak was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and a lifetime member of the VFW Malcolm Mayo Post in Wilmington.
He was an advocate of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Nathan Pooley
ASHKUM -- Nathan Elmer Pooley, infant son of Richard and Amy (Ducat) Pooley of Ashkum, died at birth Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Tom Tate will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ashkum cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Surviving besides his parents are one brother, Austin Moore of Ashkum; maternal grandmother, Cynthia Ducat of Ashkum; maternal grandfather, Bill (Donna) Ducat of Clifton; paternal grandparents, Brent and Barb Crook of Aurora; maternal great-grandparents, Bill and Dot Simmons of Chebanse; paternal great-grandmother, Doris Karalas of Yorkville; paternal great-grandfather, Elmer Pooley of Montgomery, Ill.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His maternal great-grandparents, Wesley and Alice Frahm and Elmer and Mary Ducat; maternal great-grandfather, Arthur Hansen; and paternal great-grandparents, Bernard and Joan Crook, are deceased.
Robert Romig

Robert A. Romig, 62, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Cotter Funeral Home in Momence is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Romig was a mechanic.
He was born June 3, 1940, in Fairbury, the son of Ralph and Helen Hoops Romig. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Dale "Cookie" Lee, whom he married
March 19, 1960, in Thayer, Ind., died June 16, 2002.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Wilma Romig of Pontiac, Jeff and Karen Romig of Danville, Guy and Marnie Romig of Mecca, Ind., Lonnie and Kathy Romig of Tangier, Ind.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathleen and Chris Courtney of Peoria, Christy Romig of Pontiac; nine grandchildren; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Rev. Donald V. Romig of Bourbonnais and Richard and Carol Johnson of Lake Village, Ind.
One brother and one son, Preston are deceased.

GILMAN -- Visitation for Carl A. Stein, 95, of Gilman, will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Crescent City, where he was a member. Rev. Harold Grafe will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery in Crescent City.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
He died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003) at the Gilman Nursing Pavilion.
Mr. Stein was a farmer in Iroquois County for many years.
He was born Aug. 27, 1907, in rural Crescent City, the son of Hei and Anna Sachjten Stein.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Hasbargen, whom he married
Dec. 1, 1934, in Crescent City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Beverly Stein of Crescent City, Dennis and Ginny Stein of Washington, Utah; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley and Harold Redeker of Watseka, Betty Theofield of Gilman, Dee and Jerry Tammen of Eyota, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Hatfield of Pasadena, Texas.
Three brothers, George, Louie and Frietz Stein; and three sisters, Antje Stein, Kate DeMoure and Sena Holloway, are deceased.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and visiting with friends.

Zachary died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at the University of Chicago Hospital shortly after birth.
Surviving besides his parents are maternal grandparents, Steve and D'Juanna Sommer and Steve Jensen, all of Kankakee; paternal grandparents, Gary and Nanette Wood of Kankakee; aunts, Jillian and Michael Jackubowski, Jennifer Jensen, Amanda Sommer and Jenna Sommer, all of Kankakee; uncles, Matthew Sommer, Brandon Sommer and Jeremy Sommer, all of Kankakee; maternal great-grandparents, David Tutewiler and Loretta and Bob Mason, all of Bradley, Sandy and Dale Kelly of Kankakee and Phil and Carol Jensen of Bradley; paternal great-grandparents, Burnell and Brunette Bouchard, William and Nadine Burnside, all of Kankakee; maternal great-great-grandfather, William Haram; several great-aunts and great-uncles; and one cousin, Andrew Jackubowski.

Titus Bellephant
Titus Franklin Bellephant, infant son of Cecil Danyele and Angel Marie Ricci Bellephant of Kankakee, died Monday (Feb. 3, 2003) at the University of Chicago Hospital.
He suffered from Potter's Syndrome, a rare condition where a baby's kidneys do not develop. As a result the baby dies shortly after birth.
The parents were featured in a story in the Accent section Nov. 25, 2002.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Andy Hansen, pastor of the Open Bible Center, will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Visitation for Robert L. "Buddy" Carrington, 66, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. Thursday until the 7 p.m. services at the Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors in Kankakee. Rev. Michael Powell will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse.

Mr. Carrington had worked at Marty's News on 5th Avenue.
He was born Jan. 24, 1937, in Mounds, the son of Dewey and Birdie Costello Carrington. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Gina Carrington of Kankakee, Robert and JoAnn Carrington of Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jeff Laird of Kamas, Utah; four grandchildren; and six nieces and two nephews.
One brother; two sisters; and two grandchildren are deceased.
Mr. Carrington was a U.S. Marines Corps veteran.
He loved to play cards and pool.
