BEAVERVILLE -- Paul V. Harris, 65, of Beaverville, died Friday (Jan. 31, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Anne Woods Chapel, where he was a member. Rev. Louis Barnes will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Leggett Funeral Home in Hopkins Park is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harris was an operator at the Cognis Corporation.
He was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Chicago, the son of Dwayne and Louise Harris. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Smith, whom he married
Sept. 25, 1960, in Leesville, of Beaverville; two daughters, Yolanda Harris and Donald Six of Lockport, Angela R. and Floyd M. Bartlett of Schererville, Ind.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Donald and Vernell Harris of Chicago, Theodore Harris of Minnesota, James and Joyce Harris and Tyrone Harris, all of Kankakee; two sisters, Beverly Thurman of Virginia Beach, Va., Marcell Ikerd of Kankakee; and four grandchildren.
One brother is deceased.
Mr. Harris was a resident of the area for 33 years.
He enjoyed fishing and working on cars.
Kathryn Heldt

GRANT PARK -- Visitation for Kathryn O. Heldt, 82, of rural Grant Park, will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Hub Funeral Chapel in Grant Park.
She will lie in state from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Grant Park. Rev. Clyde E. Lange will officiate.
Burial will be in Heusing cemetery, rural Grant Park.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, the Grant Park paramedics or to the American Heart Association.
She died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Mrs. Heldt was a retired substitute postal employee in Grant Park and Chicago.
She was born Aug. 6, 1920, in rural Grant Park, the daughter of Otto and Minnie Martens Hoevet. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence H. Heldt, whom she married
May 27, 1943, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bruce R. Heldt and special friend, Alyce Schmidt of Bourbonnais, Richard A. and Sandi Heldt of Grant Park; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Williamson of Grant Park; one sister-in-law, Carol Hoevet of rural Grant Park; five grandchildren, Chad Heldt, Kyle Heldt, Jared Heldt, Erin Williamson and Tyler Williamson; one great-grandson, Reed Heldt; and many nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Evelyn Dupuis and Eloise Songero; and two brothers, Martin and Leon Hoevet, are deceased.
Mrs. Heldt was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ where she served as vice-president of the Women's Guild and was the first woman to serve on the church council from 1968-1970.
She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed Illinois and Bulls basketball games and also local high school basketball games.

ST. ANNE -- Peter Moore, 53, of St. Anne, died Monday (Feb. 3, 2003) at his home.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the A.R. Leak Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago.
He was born in Selma, Ala.
Surviving are his mother, Anne Bell Anderson of Chicago; four brothers; four sisters; and several other relatives.
He was an established carpenter.
He had attended Joliet Junior College taking culinary classes to become a chef.
Mr. Moore was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in St. Anne, where he served as an usher. He later became a member of Greater Goodwill Baptist Church in Momence, where he also served as an usher.
He was a Vietnam War veteran and an active member of the Black Vietnam Veterans Association of Kankakee.
He was an artist and enjoyed woodworking, listening to old music and entertaining young people by doing "the hambone."
He loved to cook.

RUSHVILLE, Ind. -- David Lee Neeb, 49, of Rushville, Ind., and the husband of a Bourbonnais resident, died Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Todd Funeral Home, 805 N. Main St., Rushville, Ind.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Main Street Christian Church. Rev. Deann Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Arlington East Hill cemetery.

Mr. Neeb was a chief financial officer for a firm in Indianapolis.
He was born July 17, 1953, in Shelbyville, Ind., the son of Richard J. and Maurita Jean Green Neeb. His father died in 1999.
Surviving are his mother of Rushville, Ind.; his wife, Susan L. Neeb of Bourbonnais; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alecia and Jeremy Cadwell of Pontiac, Mich., Jocelyn Menke and her fiance, Justin Kendig of Peoria; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard Jay II and Beth Neeb of Columbus, Ind., Michael Allen and Kim Neeb, Morris Dean and Angie Neeb, all of Rushville, Scott Douglas and Laura Neeb of Indianapolis, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a 1975 graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in business.
Mr. Neeb was a member of the Elks Lodge, associate member of the Knights of Columbus 769, the Illinois CPA Association, the National CPA Association and St. John Lutheran Church in Midland, Mich.
Veronica Sweeney

GILMAN -- Veronica Lucille "Tut" Sweeney, 85, of Gilman, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee. She had been a resident of Manor Care Health Services in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a 4 p.m. rosary service at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilman, where she was a member. Rev. John Balluff will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Gilman.
Memorials may be made to the Gilman Danforth Area District Library.
Mrs. Sweeney was an elementary school teacher in Ashkum and Gilman for many years.
She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in L'Erable, the daughter of Joseph and Veronica Wamba Prew.
Her husband, Raymond E. Sweeney, whom she married
June 22, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, died Feb. 23, 1999.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jerry and Kelly Sweeney of Livermore, Calif., David and Peggy Sweeney of Austin, Texas, Daniel and Marcia Sweeney of Evergreen, Colo., Michael Sweeney of Springfield; two daughters, Prudi Mogensen and Christine Buhr, both of Kankakee; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanette Raymond of Danforth.
Four sisters, Alice Prew, Josephine Sandberg, Beryl Lemenager and Mae Rush, are deceased.
She attended rural Plato schools and was a graduate of Gilman High School. She received a degree in elementary education from Illinois State University.
Mrs. Sweeney was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and a former board member of the Douglas Township Library.
Vernes Wilkening
WATSEKA -- Services for V.J. Vernes Wilkening, 74, of Watseka, were held Feb. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Woodworth. Rev. James Ritter officiated.
Mr. Wilkening died Jan. 31, 2003.
Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery, Woodworth. Pallbearers were Ronnie Ahlden, Darin Bohlman, Tyson Cotter, Stan Schroeder, Dean Sorenson and Brandon Wilkening. Honorary pallbearers were Jared and Micah Wilkening.
James Jensen
HERSCHER -- Services for James W. Jensen, 51, of Herscher, were held Feb. 5 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Richard Kostelz officiated.
Mr. Jensen died Feb. 1, 2003.
Burial was in Pilot cemetery, Herscher. Pallbearers were Russell Crane, Richard Flynn, Dusty Redman, Daniel Jensen, David Elliot, Darrin Lovell, Wayne Forneris and Steve Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Jensen and Jeff Jensen.
Clarence Bebout
Services for Clarence E. "Eugene" Bebout, 58, of Bourbonnais, were held Feb. 5 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. Randy VanFossan officiated.
Mr. Bebout died Feb. 1, 2003.
Burial, with military rites by the U.S. Army military, was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were George Benjamin, Norman Mitchell, Wayne Jackson, Shawn Kuelen, Kevin Carstensen, Don Zanella and Christopher Sharp. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Carstensen and nephews and nieces.
Helen Benson
COAL CITY -- Helen Faye Benson, 75, of Coal City, died Saturday (Feb. 1, 2003) at Morris Hospital.
Her final wishes were to be an organ donor.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 10 a.m. memorial service at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City. Brian Kenney will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Benson was born Nov. 4, 1927 in Addison, Ky., the daughter of Cecil and Mary Neel Ellis.
Her husband, George Benson, whom she married
April 19, 1946 in Elwood, died in 1997. They lived in and around Coal City most of their married
life.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Donna Benson of Coal City, Ronald and Vanessa Benson of GooseLake; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gary Arnold of Zephyrhills, Fla., Jane and Greg Patterson, Jean and Dave Wilcox, all of Coal City; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Jo Brackett of Coal City, Ann Yearout of Texas; two brothers, Norman Ellis of Brookport, Bernard Ellis of New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
One daughter-in-law, Jill Benson; a grandson, Christopher Benson; and one brother, Morris Ellis, are deceased.
Mrs. Benson was raised and educated in Brookport, graduating from Brookport High School.
