William Drury

William T. Drury, 72, of Bradley, died Sunday (Feb. 2, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.

James Jensen
truck driver

HERSCHER -- James W. Jensen, 51, of Herscher, died Saturday (Feb. 1, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Richard Kostelz.
Burial will be in Pilot cemetery in Herscher.
Memorials may be made for his children's education.
Mr. Jensen was born Nov. 27, 1951 in Kankakee, the son of Kenneth and Erna Schmid Jensen. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former SueEllen M. Sorensen, whom he married April 7, 1990 at United Methodist Church in Herscher; two daughters, Jill Jensen of Chicago, Lauren Jensen of Herscher; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Mike Kramer, Betty and Mark Reid, all of Clifton, Cindy and Mark Corbin of Ashkum, Judy and Dave Ashman, Diane and Pete Elbert, all of Chebanse, Nancy and Marty Hall of L'Erable; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dan and Diane Jensen, Dick and Lisa Jensen, and Jeff Jensen, all of Chebanse; and his mother of Herscher.
Mr. Jensen was a truck driver for Tobey Construction for almost 30 years and a part-time farmer.
He enjoyed farming and his work, and spending time in his yard.

Bernice Macevice

CANTON -- Bernice Macevice, 78, of Canton, formerly of Kankakee, died today (Feb. 3, 2003) at her home in Canton.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. service at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.

Sandra Nevious

HERSCHER -- Sandra Mae Nevious, 53, of Herscher, died Sunday (Feb. 2, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the 3 p.m. service at United Methodist Church in Herscher, where she was a member.
Burial will be in Grand Prairie Norweigian cemetery in Herscher. Pallbearers will be Richard and Anthony Marcotte, Rick Nelson, Eric, Craig and Vernon Gaus. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill and Jason Deaton, Kenny and Rich Gebhardt.
Memorials may be made to the family's wishes.
Arrangements are by the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Nevious was born Dec. 6, 1949 in Kankakee, the daughter of Leonard and Betty Rakow Nelson. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Phil Nevious, whom she married July 18, 1970 at the United Methodist Church in Herscher; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Angie Nevious of Zebulon, N.C., Ryan Nevious of Herscher; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer and Craig Sims, Heather Nevious and Jasmine Burmeister, all of Herscher; a special granddaughter, Cori Elizabeth Sims; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Bud Denault, Cathy and Wayne Marcotte, all of Herscher, Marilyn and Larry Deaton of Benton, Ark., Carolyn and Steve Gebhardt of Kankakee, Barb and Steve Schneider of Buckingham; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Barb Nelson of Kankakee; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Nevious of Glen Ellyn, Michael and Darlene Nevious of Galatia, Ramona and of Piper City, Phyllis Scott of Marion, Sandra Hathaway of Nashville, Tenn., and Bruce and Denise Nevious of Creal Springs; her mother-in-law, Mahalia Elizabeth Nevious of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Nevious was a homemaker and loved it because she could always be there for her family.
Sandy was a very special person who always helped anyone out. She was always the first person there when someone needed something and never gave a second thought to herself.
She loved being a grandmother, and was always special to all her nieces and nephews.
She loved to crochet and give her gifts to the people she loved.

Betty Parkhurst

Betty Ann Lindsay Parkhurst, 72, of Kankakee, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2003) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, following a long battle against Peripheral Neuropathy that she endured with her usual grace and dignity.
Cremation services were private.
Her daughters invite friends to a 2-5 p.m. open house at the Parkhurst family home Sunday, Feb. 9, in celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to The Neuropathy Association, Inc., 60 E. 42nd St., Suite 942, New York, N.Y. 10165-0999. Donations may be made via the internet at www.neuropathy.org/donation.
Arrangements are by the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Parkhurst was born Jan. 12, 1931 in Detroit, Mich., to James and Marie Lindsay.
Betty attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Illinois Masonic Nursing School in 1953.
In 1957, she was head nurse of the operating room at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Betty was soon named Operating Room Supervisor and participated in and pioneered many medical innovations including Post-Operative Recovery Rooms, the defibrillator, paper drapes, the first open-heart surgeries and early heart-lung machines, among others.
Betty married Donald Parkhurst as a medical student on Sept. 9, 1961. Following his graduation, internship, two years in the U.S. Air Force and radiology residency, they settled in Kankakee where she traded her astounding nursing career for an equally successful career as wife, mother and community servant.
Her charitable works include The Kankakee County Medical Society Women's Medical Auxiliary, The Illinois State Women's Medical Alliance, St. Paul's Lutheran School, Kankakee Kultivators and many local charities.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Glenn Parkhurst, M.D., and their three daughters, Lindsay Ann Parkhurst, Lesley Marie Grant and Heather Jean Parkhurst, as well as three grandchildren, Dillon Briggs, Haley Glenn and Sadie Elizabeth Grant. Also surviving are two sons-in-law, Peter Grant and Marc Magiera, all of Kankakee; and a sister, Jean Marie Schaudt of Villa Park.
Betty Ann Lindsay Parkhurst will be fondly remembered and much missed by all those who were touched by her benevolent deeds and gentle personality.

Gilbert J. Stawick

BLOOMINGTON -- Gilbert J. Stawick, 68, of Bloomington, brother of a Bourbonnais resident, died Sunday (Feb. 2, 2003) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at Beck Memorial Home in Bloomington.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Girl Scouts of Centrillio Council, Three Westport Ct., Bloomingtion, Ill. 61704, or to St. Judes.
Mr. Stawick was born July 7, 1934 in Blue Island, the son of John Neptune and Isabel Rose Bemke Stawick.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Sally and Eric Stawick-McClennan of Sugar Grove, Carol Stawick of Bloomington; two grandchildren; three sisters, Therese R. Markus of Bloomington, Alicia Mae Dunning of Orland Park, Ruth Ann Stawick of Naperville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold A. and Trudy Stawick of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gerald F. and Peg Stawick of Indianapolis, Ind., Richard A. and Tina Stawick of Anderson, S.C., Myron I. and Kathy Stawick of Bourbonnais; his former wife, Linda Stawick of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stawick was founder and owner of Gilbert Surgical and Medical Supplies.
He served on the BroMenn Advisory Board.
He supported the Girl Scouts, and enjoyed traveling, card games and golfing at the Bloomington Country Club.
He was a member of McLean County Advisory Board, a member of the IWU Century Club, and a supporter of the University of Illinois, where he received a bachelor of science degree and was a football letterman.
He was active in St. Matthew Episcopal Church for many years.
During the Korean War, he was in communication reconnaissance and received several decorations.

Lyle Wills

JOLIET -- Lyle L. Wills, 86, of Joliet, and the grandfather of a Coal City resident, died Thursday (Jan. 23, 2003) at his home.
Services were held Jan. 27 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Joliet. Rev. Klaus Mehri officiated.
Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Mr. Wills retired from Lockport Manufacturing Co. in 1978.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Helen Palya Wills; one daughter, Penny Wills of Joliet; five grandchildren, including Kevin Wills of Coal City; seven great-grandchidlren; one brother, Oliver Wills of Joliet; one sister, Esther Mateski of Joliet; six sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and was involved with the Braille Workshop and Senior Fellowship at his church.
Mr. Wills was a volunteer at Sunny Hill Nursing Home.
He was a member of the Coal City Area Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Myrtle Buente

BONFIELD -- Visitation for Myrtle A. Buente, 99, of Bonfield, will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Hertz-Thoma Chapel, Kankakee.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bonfield Evangelical United Methodist Church. Rev. Steven Friese will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery in Bonfield.
Memorials may be made to Bonfield Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she was a lifetime member.
Mrs. Buente died Friday (Jan. 31, 2003) at Manorcare Health Services in Kankakee.
She was born July 27, 1903 in Salina Township, the daughter of Henry and Clara Riegel Wingert.
Her husband, Arthur Buente, whom she married Jan. 3, 1924 in Bonfield, died in 1979.
Surviving are three sons and four daughters-in-law, Owen and Patricia Buente, Harley and Carolyn Buente, all of Bonfield, Orlin and Sue Buente, Gertrude Buente, all of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ardis and Allen Messer of Bonfield, Sharon Geiger of Reddick; one sister, Ora Wanger of Kankakee; one brother, Wayne Wingert of Tucson, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
One son, Elwin Buente; one daughter, Shirley Hunyor; one son-in-law, Larry Geiger; two brothers, Harland and Clarence Wingert; and two grandchildren, Brian Buente and Jeffrey Geiger, are deceased.
Mrs. Buente was a member of the United Methodist Women, a Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher at Bonfield Evangelical United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed raising poultry, which she has done since she was a little girl, gardening and making quilts.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Marty Bunte

PEOTONE -- Marty A. Bunte, 26, of Peotone, died Friday (Jan. 31, 2003) in a car accident in rural Beecher.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Beecher. Rev. Ron Rock will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a member.
Marty was born Feb. 2, 1976 in Chicago Heights, the son of Dennis and Kay Wehling Bunte.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Beecher, are his sister, Mandy Bunte of Beecher; grandparents, Ruth Bunte of Beecher, Richard and Beverly Wehling of Beecher; aunts and uncles, Pat and Rodney Burdick, Rick and Sharon Wehling, and Robert and Julie Wehling, all of Beecher, Diane and David Iten of Momence, Julia and David Mack of Pontiac; and many cousins.
His grandfather, Clarence Bunte, is deceased.
Marty was an auto body repairman for Bunte Paint & Repair Co.
He was a coach for Zion School Soccer Team.
