COAL CITY -- Jessica L. Anderson, 20, of Coal City, formerly of Plainfield, died Saturday (Jan. 11, 2003) from injuries sustained in an auto accident north of Diamond.
Services were held Jan. 17 at the Goodale Memorial Chapel in Lockport. Rev. Andrew Buczyna officiated.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Surviving are her mother, Shirley Seaborg Bryant; her father, Daniel Anderson; seven brothers and sisters; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Norman "Corky" Seaborg; paternal grandparents, John and Joyce Anderson; great-grandmother, Anne Weldy; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her great-grandfather, Stanley Weldy; and two uncles, Skip Seaborg and Robert Anderson, are deceased.
Imogene Beeks
ROCKFORD, Ohio -- Imogene Beeks, 80, of Rockford, Ohio, formerly of Cissna Park, died Thursday (Jan. 9, 2003) at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, where she was a patient.
Services were held on Jan. 12 at the New Horizons Church, Rockford. Rev. Robert Loar officied.
Burial was in Otterbein cemetery, Rockford.
She was born March 11, 1922, in Iroquois County, the daughter of Shirley and Iva Kolb Hickman.
Surviving are her husband, Herman Beeks, whom she married
Dec. 23, 1945; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph H. and Vicki Beeks of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Yvonne Lautzenheiser of Fairfield, Ohio, Roberta and Richard LePage of Rockford, Regina and Bill Jenkins of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Burr Hickman; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Beryl and Bill Johnson of Hayward, Calif., Helen Drohn of Texas; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She graduated in 1940 from Cissna Park High School and from Huntington College in Indiana. She had lived in the Rockford area since 1959.
Mrs. Beeks was a member of the New Horizons Church outside of Rockford and was active in the Band Boosters at Parkway when her children were in school.
Patrick Benoit
PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Patrick J. Benoit, 70, of Pleasanton, Calif., formerly of Kankakee, died Jan. 12, 2003.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 17 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Pleasanton, where he was a member.
He was born in Louisville, Ky. Jan. 7, 1933, the son of Frank C. and Marguerite Kilkenny Benoit.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Mary Ann. His wonderful sense of humor, love of life and unique spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He served as a lifelong role model for his children, Kevin, Tim and Ann, with his hard work, faith and encouragement.
He had tremendous love for his grandchildren, Laura, Courtney, Sean and Stephanie and loved his son-in-law Myron and daughters-in-law Vickie and Donna as his own.
He was from a large and loving family, including his sisters, Margaret (Billadeau) and Helen (McKenna) and brother Jay, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank, Martin and Robert.
A graduate of St. Patrick High School, Lewis College and Harvard Trade Union School, he served in the Korean War with the 982nd Engineers Battalion.
He was a member of the Grain Millers Union, Local 70, and served as president from 1962 to 1966. For 28 years he worked for the Airline Pilots Association, traveling far and wide. He will be a wonderful addition to Heaven.

Gladys Buchmeier
PEOTONE -- Gladys Pralle Buchmeier, 89, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Beecher and Peotone, died Monday (Jan. 20, 2003) at Grace Health Care of St. Petersburg.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Peotone cemetery.
Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Beecher and moved to St. Petersburg in 1987 from Peotone.
Surviving are two stepsons, Jim Pralle of Crete, David Pralle of Pittsville, Wis.; one son-in-law, Alan Goldberg of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and one step-son-in-law, Leo Heusing of Grant Park.
One daughter, Kathy Goldberg, died in 2002; and one stepdaughter, Nancy Heusing died in 1993.
Mrs. Buchmeier was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone.
Pearl Cline
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- Pearl E. Cline, 86 of Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of Boswell, Ind., and the mother of a former Cissna Park resident, died Friday (Jan.10, 2003) at Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital.
Services were held Jan. 13 at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home in Hoopeston.
Burial was in Floral Hill cemetery, Hoopeston.
Mrs. Cline farmed many years in the Milford, Rankin and Boswell areas. She also worked at Scranton Industries in Hoopeston.
She was born April 23, 1916, in Bowling Green, Ky., the daughter of Galloway and Nelie Law Cline.
Her husband, Lee Cline, whom she married
Dec. 22, 1934, in Bowling Green, Ky., died Oct. 24, 1994.
Surviving are one son, Gerald "Butch" Cline of Fowler, Ind.; four daughters, Betty J. Bushue of Rankin, formery of Cissna Park, Barbara "Pat" Cowan of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Gerri Bahls of Hoopeston, Judy LaBounty of Wellington; one brother, Loyce Cline of Franklin, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, seven brothers, two sisters and one grandson, are deceased.
She enjoyed gardening and had traveled to 47 states.
Norma Giertz
CHEBANSE -- Services for Norma Louise Giertz, 81, of Chebanse, were held Jan. 18 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse. Rev. Kene Whybrew officiated.
Mrs. Giertz died Jan. 14, 2003.
Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Chebanse. Pallbearers were Justin Giertz, David Boness, David Smith, Gerald Cailteux and Randy and Kevin Nordmeyer.
Elizabeth Larsen
CLIFTON -- Services for Elizabeth O. Larsen, 85, of Clifton, were held Jan. 20 at the Zion Lutehan Church in Clifton. Rev. William Callister officiated.
Mrs. Larsen died Jan. 15, 2003.
Burial was in Clifton cemetery. Pallbearers were Andy LeRoy, Erik Larsen, Russell Rosenboom, John LeRoy and Mike and LeRoy Krumwiede.
Ethel Peters
CHEBANSE -- Services for Ethel L. Peters, 96, of Chebanse, were held Jan. 17 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Rev. Kene Whybrew officiated.
Mrs. Peters died Jan. 14, 2003.
Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse. Pallbearers were Karl Berns, Lester Anderson, Scott, Paul and Dale Peters, Dennis Martin and Robert Kleine.
Gertrude Leiding
CRESCENT CITY -- Services for Gertrude H. Leiding, 93, of Crescent City, were held Jan. 20 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Crescent City. Rev. Harold Grafe officiated.
Mrs. Leiding died Jan. 17, 2003.
Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery, Crescent City. Pallbearers were John, Craig, Richard and Dan Gocken, Roland Heuton and Ray Johnson, Honorary pallbearers were Glen Scheiwe and Clyde Seefeldt.
Edward VanSwol
MOMENCE -- Services for Edward H. VanSwol, 60, of Momence, were held Jan. 21 at the First Baptist Church in Momence. Rev. William Steger officiated.
Mr. VanSwol died Jan. 18, 2003.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark and Mike Marcotte, Robert Clark, Richard Marcotte, Darius Harms, Ambrose Marcotte, Mark Bragg and Michael Perrine.
Noah Norris,
WWII vet
DIAMOND -- Noah W. Norris Jr., 84, of Diamond, formerly of Morris, died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003) at Foster G. McGaw Hospital in Proviso Township, Cook County.
Services were held Jan. 18 at C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home in Morris. Rev. Rick Cunningham officiated.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to the Coal City Emergency Squad.
Mr. Norris retired in 1980 from the Federal Paper Board Company in Morris, after 40 years of service.
He was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Glencoe, Ohio, the son of Noah W. Sr. and Emma Wagner Norris.
Surviving are his wife, the former Christine A. Springer, whom he married
Nov. 23, 1946, at the First United Methodist Church in Morris; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Rossio of Joliet, Nancy and Robert Krug of Morris; four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Marsha Norris of Morris, Robert and Nancy Norris of Seneca, Thomas and Joann Norris of San Antonio, Texas, Jeffrey and Teri Norris of Wausau, Wis.; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, LaVerne Gwarney; and one brother, Nelson Norris, are deceased.
Mr. Norris was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during World War II in the European Theater.
He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 967, both in Morris.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing and computers.
Anna Nowman
COAL CITY -- Anna A. Nowman, 83, of Coal City, died Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2003) at Walnut Grove Healthcare Facility.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City. Rev. Mike Pennock will officiate.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Nowman was born Sept. 25, 1919 in Coal City, the daughter of John and Ella Lohmar Lankers.
Her husband, Othie "Pat" Nowman, whom she married
June 22, 1940 in Coal City, died March 31, 1999. They lived in Coal City their entire married
life.
Surviving are one son, Edward of Coal City; one daughter, Patti of Morris; one stepsister, Madalyn Ferrari of Coal City; one stepbrother, Francis Pohl of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Her stepmother, Clara Lankers; one sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Clarence Red; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Nellie Lankers; and one stepbrother, William Pohl, are deceased.
