Visitation for Rosetta S. Pranske, 93, of Kankakee, will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the 4 p.m. memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church in Kankakee, where she was a member. Rev. Scott Hill will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Taylorville.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

She died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center.
She was a chef for Mr. Kemper of Kemper Insurance Company for many years.
At the age of 67, she got her certified nursing assistant certificate and was first in her class. She retired as a CNA at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.
She was born April 26, 1909, in Shelbyville, the daughter of John and Josephine Wheat Strohl. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, George Pranske, whom she married
Oct. 19, 1939, in Shelbyville, died April 6, 1963.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Rudolphine Pranske of Las Vegas, Nev., Alfred and Marian Pranske of Springfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth Lebahier of Edinburg, Carol and Lee Swenehart of Tampa, Fla., Jeanne and Wayne Benson of Kankakee; one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Sylvester of Shelbyville; one brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Marjorie Strohl of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, including Jennifer and Jim Schneider of Kankakee; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Mary Strohl, Virginia Strohl, Esther Gains; and three brothers, Lawrence, John and Lloyd Strohl, are deceased.
Mrs. Pranske was a member of the White Shrine in Taylorville.
She enjoyed crocheting and being a seamstress, chef and baker.
Violet Stuky

Violet Chouinard Stuky, 84, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2003) at Watseka Health Care.
Private family services will be held Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Soceity or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Mrs. Stuky had worked at Alden's as a seamstress; Bear Brand Hosiery, Blue's Cafe and during World War II at the Joliet Arsenal.
She was born April 4, 1918, in Watseka, the daughter of George and Connie Bachar Unger.
Her first husband, Jerome Chouinard, whom she married
in 1938 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Kankakee, died Oct. 31, 1969.
She then married
Henry Stuky in 1974 in Kankakee. He died in 1996.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Norman and Lila Chouinard of St. Anne, Merl Chouinard and Cindy Martin of Manteno; two daughters, Connie Duff of Vidor, Texas, Carol Goodrich of Bourbonnais; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, Marvin Chouinard; one grandson, Marvin Chouinard Jr.; three sisters, Della Shanks, Mable Marlatt, Gladys Unger; and six brothers, Red, Bill, Ira, Merl, Leonard and Lester Unger, are deceased.
Mrs. Stuky was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

FROSTPROOF, Fla. -- John Nathon Taden, 52, of Frostproof, Fla., formerly of Crescent City, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Celebration Hospital in Orlando, Fla.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and from noon Thursday until the 1 p.m. services at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Gary Milton will officiate.
Burial will be in GAR cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
Mr. Taden was a machine operator for Polk County road maintenance and a union steward.
He was born Jan. 2, 1951 in Watseka, the son of Lester and Mary A. Tucker Taden. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Taden of Frostproof, Fla.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Jim Breakey of Claremont, Calif.; two nieces; and two nephews.
One sister, Kathryn Schoolman, is deceased.
He was of the Protestant faith, and enjoyed working with computers and boating.
Ida Wakat
Visitation for Ida M. Wakat, 83, a longtime Bourbonnais resident, will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with a 3 p.m. wake service at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.
Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais.

She died Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2003) at Evanston Hospital. For the last eight years, she had made her home in Deerfield with her son, Jeff, and daughter, Cindy.
She was born Aug. 26, 1919, the daughter of Edward and Amanda LeCuyer Strickland.
Her husband, Emory Albert Wakat, whom she married
Sept. 20, 1938, died June 24, 1981.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, George and Barbara Wakat of St. Paul Park, Minn., Jeffrey Wakat of Deerfield, Marc and Kristi Wakat of Kankakee (Limestone Township); five daughters and three sons-in-law, Diane Wakat, Ph.D. of Charlottesville, Va., and her partner, Connie Christ, Cynthia Wakat of Deerfield, Rita and James Wronkiewicz of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary and William Drasler of Minnetonka, Minn., Adrienne Albrecht, J.D., and Donald Albrecht of Bourbonnais; one brother, Arthur Strickland of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Lorraine Papineau of Bradley; and 12 grandchildren.
One son, Emory Wakat Jr.; one daughter, Rosanne Wakat; three sisters, Mary Rose Adamsick, Lucille Papineau, Eleanor Wood; and two brothers, Elmer Strickland and Edward Strickland, are deceased.
After dropping out of grade school during the depression, Mrs. Wakat obtained her GED from Kankakee Community College while many of her children were attending college. During that experience, she discovered a talent for painting.
Mrs. Wakat was a member of Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Highland Park.
Victoria Weidling
WILMINGTON -- Victoria L. Weidling, 51, of Wilmington, died suddenly Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2003) at her home.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Al Zlomie will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Wilmington.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Ms. Weidling was a former employee of the Ben Franklin Store in Wilmington.
She was born March 21, 1951, in Joliet, the daughter of Ann and Robert Weidling. Her father is deceased.
Surviving are her daughter, Noelle Kurth of Arizona; her former husband and friend, Jack Kurth of Wilmington; her mother and stepfather, Ann and Tom Hillis of Wilmington; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bob Weidling, Bill and Vicki Weidling, Henry and Stacey Weidling, all of Wilmington; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Lou Baker of Indiana, Marianne and Chris Quirk of Wilmington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
One brother, Ralph, is deceased.
She was a 1970 graduate of Wilmington High School.
She enjoyed the fine arts, horseback riding and antiques.
Phyllis Young

ATLANTA -- Phyllis D. Young, 73, of Atlanta, Ill., and the mother of a Bourbonnais resident, died Monday (Jan. 20, 2003) at Hopedale Medical Complex.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at the Eminence Christian Church, rural Atlanta. Andy Glass will officiate.
Burial will be in Mountjoy cemetery, rural Atlanta.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Young was a licensed practical nurse. She was employed at the Lincoln Developmental Center for 20 years, retiring in 1995.
She was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Canton, the daughter of M. Dean and Elizabeth Anne Shaw Frantz.
Her husband, Marion Young, whom she married
June 21, 1947, in Atlanta, died Aug. 28, 1997.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Carol Young of Bourbonnais, Bruce and Kerry Young of Normal, Bill and Bonnie Young of Lincoln; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Sue (Hebert) Pettigrew of Bloomington; seven grandchildren; one brother, Roger Frantz of McLean; and two sisters, Ruth Werschey of Decatur and Betty Cox of Lincoln.
She was a member of the Atlanta "A" Team, J.H. Hawes Grain Elevator Museum and the Atlanta Eminence Christian Church.
Gregory Arends
MELVIN -- Gregory Todd Arends, 17, of Melvin, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at the Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City, from injuries sustained in a car accident. His twin brother, Stephen, was also critically injured when the car they were in struck a utility pole.
Private funeral services will be held. Rev. Paul Thomason will officiate.
Burial will be in the Melvin cemetery.
A public memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Middle School.
Memorials may be made to the Gibson City Bible Church Building Fund or to the Gibson Area Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1985, in Gibson City, the son of Randal and Bonnie Shetler Arends.
Surviving besides his parents of Melvin are his twin brother, Stephen Craig Arends; paternal grandfather, Daniel G. Arends of Gibson City; maternal grandparents, Les and Frances Shetler of Goshen, Ind.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His paternal grandmother, Verna Arends, is deceased.
He was a member of the FFA, FCA and the Gibson City Bible Church and Sangamon Valley Church youth groups. Greg and his brother were co-captains of the GCMS Golf Team.
Frank Branz

CHEBANSE -- Frank A. Branz Jr., 52, of Chebanse, died Monday (Jan. 20, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Kathy Sweet will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Branz was a bus driver for United Developmental Services in 1988-89. He had also been a security guard and an electrician. He was a volunteer fireman for Otto Township.
He was born Sept. 18, 1950, in Kankakee, the son of Frank A. Sr. and Jannette Arey Branz. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Debra Morrical, whom he married
Sept. 27, 1975, in Kankakee; one son, Frank Branz III of Chebanse; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Ron Winters, Shirley and Tim Perkins, all of Chebanse; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Alice and Francis Francoeur of Kankakee, Margo Nourie of Bourbonnais; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Branz was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
He loved woodworking.
