Dorothy Wingert

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Dorothy B. Wingert, 81, of Tucson, Ariz., and a former Kankakee area resident, died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003) in Tucson.
Burial was in East Lawn Palms cemetery, Tucson.
Memorials may be made to the Catalina United Methodist Church, Tucson, Ariz., or to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Wingert was a volunteer at Kino Hospital.
She was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Custer Park, the daughter of Earl M. and Gertrude Walter Yeates.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne E. Wingert, whom she married Dec. 22, 1942, in Bonfield; four sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sheryl Wingert of Atlanta, Ga., Daniel and Linda Wingert of Alta Loma, Calif., Douglas and Judy Wingert and Dean and Linda Wingert, all of Tucson, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Frances Woodrum of Normal and Alice and Harold Emling of Herscher.
One sister, Mildred Orwig, and two brothers, Earl Yeates Jr. and Richard Yeates, are deceased.
Mrs. Wingert had been a Tucson resident since 1956 and was a member of Catalina United Methodist Church there.

Julia Bajt

Julia M. Bajt, 87, of Kankakee, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Miller Health Care Center.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, with a 5 p.m. wake service.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Kankakee. Rev. Dennis Settles will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul cemetery in Herscher.
Mrs. Bajt was born April 13, 1915 in Joliet, the daughter of Louis and Jennie Semrov Torkar.
Her husband, Joseph Vincent Bajt, whom she married Nov. 26, 1938, died Aug. 5, 1969.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Joan Bajt of Kankakee, and Ronald and Lana Bajt of Muskegon, Mich.; one daughter, Karen Bajt of Kankakee; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bajt worked at the Acre Inn in Buckingham from 1960-1972.
She was founder of the IGA Grocery Store in Herscher in 1954.
She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Kankakee, a member of Women of the Moose, the CCW of her church, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
She lived in Joliet for 26 years; Lockport for 10 years; Herscher from 1954-1973; and Kankakee from 1973 until the present.

Paul Bydalek

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Paul Lee Bydalek, 64, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, formerly of Kankakee, died Saturday(Dec. 21, 2002).
He was born Oct. 20, 1938, in Kankakee, the son of Paul D. and Earleen Bydalek. His parents are deceased.
Mr. Bydalek brought the concept of rating to Brazil, making Atlantic Rating a market benchmark. Atlantic Rating does business in Brazil and other Latin American markets, including in its portfolio all of the banks and large financial conglomerates operating in Brazil and overseas, in addition to companies, investment funds, asset management companies and securities issuers.
Before founding Atlantic Rating in 1992, he worked in the following financial institutions: Security Pacific Corporation, Los Angeles and Brazil; Banco Denasa de Investimento, Rio de Janeiro and in Citicorp in New York, Recife, Curitiba, S‹o Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Teheran, Iran.
Surviving are his wife, Maria Luiza Lopez M.B.B. Falcao, whom he married July 15, 1982; two daughters, Elizabeth Bydalek-Fernandes and Christina Bydalek-Swanson, both of Orlando, Fla.; one son, Paul D. Bydalek of San Anselmo, Calif.; five grandchildren; one brother, David Bydalek of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and one sister, Lois Tjarks of Briarcliff, Ill.
He was a 1956 graduate of St. Patrick's High School.

Jack Carter

Jack L. Carter, 57, of Bradley, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, and from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Visitation will also be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10 a.m. services at Northside Missionary Church in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, N.Y.
Mr. Carter was born Feb. 28, 1945 in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Surviving are his wife, the former Karla M. Wortman, whom he married June 23, 1967 in Ft. Wayne, Ind., of Bradley; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerrod and Joan Carter of Zionsville, Ind.; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Oscar Salinas of Kankakee; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Judy Butler of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Georgienne and Don Westrick of Jewell, Ohio, Patricia Ray, and Barb and Dan Kneisley, all of Defiance, Ohio, Shirley and Dan Milliman of Fremont, Ind., and Tamera and Scott Buckley of Houston, Texas; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jim Carter of Bryant, Ala., Roger and Pat Ray, and George Jr. and Janni Ray, all of Defiance, Ohio, Kevin and Linda Ray of Bryan, Ohio, and Mike Ray of Fremont, Ind.; one granddaughter, Anna Marie Carter of Zionsville, Ind.; his mother, Martha Jane Ray of Defiance, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carter was employed by Kmart Distribution Center in Manteno.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of Avalon Missionary Church in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and attended College Church of the Nazarene in Bourbonnais.

Tessie Clark

Visitation for Tessie C. Clark, 104, Kankakee County's oldest resident, of Bradely, formerly of Kankakee, will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Rev. Charles Wheeler will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Arrangements are by Senesac Kankakee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clark died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Bradley Nursing Home.
She was born July 16, 1898 in Anna, Union County, the daughter of Sylvester and Dora Webb Cavitt.
Her husband, William T. Clark, whom she married June 14, 1926 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, died July 19, 1954.
Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Doris (Jerry) and Eugene Mayotte of Largo, Fla.; eight nieces and nephews, Jane and Paul Gerth, Steven and JoAnn Mayotte, Dr. Joseph Mayotte, Jeanette and Edward Gregoire, Theresa Gregoire, Verneal Blanchette, Maurice and Helen Blanchette, and Millie Blanchette; and 38 great-nieces and nephews.
One brother, Robert Cavitt; and five sisters, Iva Moore, Geniveve Beggs, Pauline Treece, Leola Chiles and Mable Treece, are deceased.
Mrs. Clark was a secretary at the Kankakee County Court House, and Kankakee State Hospital for many years.
She was a Republican Committee Woman for many years.
She was a long-time member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and was an avid Bridge player.

Alva France

WONDER LAKE -- Alva "Larry" France, 70, of Wonder Lake, formerly of Hoopeston, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. in McHenry.
Private services and burial will be held.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 200 S. Green St., McHenry, Ill. 60050.
Mr. France was born Nov. 26, 1932 in Hoopeston, the son of Clifton C. and Addie L. Bellamy France. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lydia E. Fandrey, whom he married May 27, 1967, of Wonder Lake; three daughters and one son-in-law, JoAnn and Mike Mahorney of Rossville, Sandra Camacho of Baton Rouge, La., and Kandi Zamorano-Guaro of Kenosha, Wis.; one son and daughter-in-law, L. Allen and JoAnne France of Auckland, New Zealand; a son-in-law, Hector Zamorano of Woodstock; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Eula Burkhardt of Watseka; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
One son, James Michael France; one brother, Roy C. France; and one sister, Lucille M. Kincaid, are deceased.
Mr. France was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1955.
He attended Cissna Park schools and Wellington High School
He was retired from the McHenry County Government Center Maintenance Department, and was a member of the McHenry Moose and Lodge.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, pool and baseball.

Amelia Green

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- Amelia M. Green, 92, of Buchanan, Mich., formerly of Spring Valley, and mother of a Kankakee resident, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Fountain View Retirement Home in Buchanan, Mich.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. service at Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Rev. Betty Delgado will officiate.
Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley.
Mrs. Green was born April 27, 1910 in Spring Valley, the daughter of Andrew and Amelia Mohie Barrowman.
Her husband, Dr. Charles Green, whom she married June 14, 1930 at Spring Valley United Church of Christ, died Jan. 7, 1971.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Charles and Carol Green of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Caroline Ray of Kankakee, Amelia and Robert Krauss of Buchanan, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Audrey Green of Peoria.
One son, James Green; and one brother, are deceased.
Mrs. Green was a member of the Spring Valley United Church of Christ, St. Margaret Hospital Auxiliary, and the Bureau County Medical Auxiliary.

Harold Gourley

THAWVILLE -- Graveside services for Harold Lee Gourley, 76, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Thawville, were held Jan. 17 at Brenton cemetery in Piper City. Rev. Gary Fairchild officiated.
Mr. Gourley died Jan. 12, 2003.
Arrangements were by Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home, Piper City.

Andrew Andrews

BONFIELD -- Services for Andrew G. Andrews, 64, of Bonfield, were held Jan. 16 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. Leah Pogemiller officiated.
Mr. Andrews died Jan. 13, 2003.
Graveside services were held Jan. 17 in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery, Kankakee.

Mary Lois Hayes

Mary Lois Hayes, 78, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Kankakee.

Pauline Hooper

BRAIDWOOD -- Pauline Hooper, 91, of Braidwood, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the 2 p.m. services at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel. Rev. Coleman Coates will officiate.
Interment will be in East cemetery in Essex.
Memorials may be made in her name to First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.
Mrs. Hooper was born June 17, 1911 in Custer Park, the daughter of Adam and Hannah Rink Cullick.
Her husband, Dighton E. Hooper, whom she married Oct. 12, 1931, is deceased.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Paul Jensen of Reddick, Janice and Merv Madsen of Dwight, and Donna and Jim McKeller of Tunnel Hill; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Hooper of Sparta; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Wren and Else Hooper.
Two sons, Edwin and Philip Hooper; her brothers and sisters; and a great-grandson, Justin Kasher, are deceased.
Mrs. Hooper was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.
She enjoyed reading and sewing.
