Patricia A. Marcotte Jennings, 65, of Bourbonnais died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. today at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais.
Inurnment will be in Maternity BVM cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Mrs. Jennings was born Sept. 14, 1937 in Kankakee, the daughter of Louis and Mary Starasinich. Her father is deceased.
Her husband, Lee Reynolds, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Dawn Reynolds of Monroe, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and James Wagner of Houston, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Christine and David Finley of Del Rio, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Jane Marcotte of Bourbonnais, David and Cindy Marcotte of Omaha, Neb., Joseph and Kathy Marcotte of Folsom, Calif.; five grandchildren, Leanne Reynolds, Audriana Hyatt, Paula Stralon, Marie Lane, and Daniel Lane; and her mother, Mary Marcotte of Bourbonnais.
One daughter, Leanne Marie Reynolds, is deceased.
Mrs. Jennings was retired from Honeywell.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, birdwatching, and was active in Alcoholics Anonymous.
Gertrude Leiding
CRESCENT CITY -- Visitation for Gertrude H. Leiding, 93, of Crescent City, will be from 2-6 p.m. today at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Crescent City. Rev. Harold Grafe will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery in Crescent City.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City; Iroquois Memorial Hospice; or Prairieview Lutheran Home.
Mrs. Leiding died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
She was born Aug. 19, 1909 in Crescent Township, the daughter of Edward and Martha Lehmann Gocken.
Her first husband, Martin D. Johnson, whom she married
Dec. 13, 1933 in Crescent City, died May 27, 1967. She then married
Edwin Leiding March 22, 1980 in Crescent City. He died Nov. 18, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Jim Brown of Watseka, Carolyn and Mike Gerkin of Burnsville, Minn; one son and daughter-in-law, Marion and Fran Johnson of West Lafayette, Ind.; one stepson, Ron and Lisa Leiding of Crescent City; two brothers, Roland Gocken of Kathleen, Ga., Seibold "Bud" Gocken of Watseka; three sisters, Lillian Morton of Watseka, Marie Ohrt of Kankakee, Martha Hoagland of Butte, Mont.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Five brothers; one sister; and one grandchild, are deceased.
Mrs. Leiding was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City; WELCA; Grandmothers Club and Senior Citizens in Crescent City.
She enjoyed quilting.
Ollie Lovelass
Visitation for Ollie W. Lovelass, 86, of Watseka, will be from 3-7 p.m. today at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Lovelass died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1916 in Burns, Wyo., the son of William and Olive Humphrey Lovelass.
Surviving are his wife, the former Vivian M. Fortin, whom he married
June 14, 1941 in Kankakee, of Watseka; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ira Claire, Diane and John Gagnon, and Patricia and Craig King, all of Watseka, Sue and Jim Butler of Sheldon, Lori and Kenneth Hamilton of Huber Heights, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Gaylord Bruniga of Crescent City; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One sister, Helen Yates; and one daughter, Linda Smith, are deceased.
Mr. Lovelass was a member of St. Edmund's Catholic Church in Watseka, Knights of Columbus, and the Watseka Elks Lodge.
He was a lifelong farmer in the Watseka area.
He served on the Board of Directors of Watseka Mutual Insurance Company for many years.
Richard Owen
Richard A. Owen, 78, of Bourbonnais, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at his residence.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, with a Ritual service with military rites by the Bradley VFW and Bradley American Legion at 5 p.m. at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, with services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Michael E. Curtis of Rantoul will officiate.
Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
Mr. Owen was born March 2, 1924 in Bradley, the son of Raymond and Jeannette Saindon Owen.
He married
the former Annabelle Bentz Nov. 7, 1942 in Bradley. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
Surviving are his wife of Bradley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard J. and Marlene Owen of Bourbonnais, Mark A. and Debby Owen of Rantoul; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy S. and Steve Bartruff of Kingman, Ariz.; grandchildren, Greg and Patti Owen, Jeff and Marge Owen, Christine Owen and fiance, Robert Papineau Jr., Mark Jr., Robbie, JeAnna, Stephen, Jeremiah and Janelle Owen, Kevin and Lindsey Hurst, Philip, April, Steven and Ryan Bartruff; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Allison Owen, Rachel Prochazka and Tyler Ruder; four step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin and Elizabeth Gilbert; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Marilyn and George Drolet, Ray and Julia Crivellone, Marcia Olejnieczak, Steve Schroder, and John Page; special cousins, Paul Owen and Jerry Young of Bradley; and special nieces, Vickie Lustig of Bourbonnais, and Debbie Porter of Schertz, Texas.
One brother, Robert; and one sister, Gloria Mae Oliver, preceded him in death.
Mr. Owen was a paint mixer with Valspar for 35 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.
Mr. Owen was a charter member and also a lifetime member of Bradley VFW Post 6502, a past Commander, and a department inspector for the VFW.
He was a 59-year member of the Bradley American Legion Post 766, where he held several offices and was the commander twice.
He was a volunteer at the Manteno Veterans Home with over 3, 000 hours of service.
He was a 14-gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Marie Poppleton
BRAIDWOOD -- Marie P. Poppleton, 90, of Braidwood, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Coleman Coates will officiate.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville. Pallbearers will be Scott and John Sereno, David Garrett, Craig Groll, Alen Sanches and Thomas F. O'Donnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Garrett, Bud Montana and Tom Sereno.
Mrs. Poppleton was born May 15, 1912 in Essex, the daughter of John and Emma Weber Wright.
Her husband, John Henry Poppleton, whom she married
Nov. 26, 1930 in Morris, is deceased.
Surviving are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Caroline Jordan of Kankakee, Betty and Herb Gillispie of La Mirada, Calif., Marilyn and Norman Montana, Jean and Dennis Garrett, all of Braidwood, Jackie and Tom Sereno of Mazon; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, John Wright, Raymond Wright and Marion Wright; and five sisters, Ruth Underwood, Florence Carpenter, Mildred Benge, Myrtle Rayburn and Elsie Wright, are deceased.
Mrs. Poppleton worked at Grinchuck Pants Factory in Braidwood for several years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Braidwood.
She enjoyed bird watching and feeding the squirrels.
Richard S. Purkhiser
CHICAGO HEIGHTS -- Richard S. Purkhiser, 78, of Chicago Heights, formerly of Homewood, Park Forest and Kankakee, died Saturday (Jan. 11, 2003).
Private services and interment were at Mound Grove cemetery, Kankakee.

Two brothers, William Purkhiser, and Donald Purkhiser; one brother-in-law, Gene Johnson; one niece, Janice Scullion; and one nephew, Eric Johnson, are deceased.
Mr. Purkhiser was a retired assistant freight superintendent for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
His family ran the long-gone Radeke Brewing Company in Kankakee from 1872 until its demolition in 1954.

MANTENO -- A.L. "Pat" St. Aubin, 94, of Manteno, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at Mease Countryside Hospital, Clearwater, Fla.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Manteno.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning at St. Joseph Church in Manteno.
Edward VanSwol
MOMENCE -- Edward H. "Ed" VanSwol, 60, of Momence, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Cotter Funeral Home in Momence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Momence. Rev. William Steger will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens.

Mr. VanSwol was born May 5, 1942 in Racine, Wis., the son of Henry C. and M. Frances Holmberg VanSwol. His father is deceased.

Nov. 25, 1986 in Momence; one daughter, Dawn Rosel of Bourbonnais; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Darryl and Jan VanSwol, and Dwayne VanSwol, all of Portage, Ind.; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Mark Bragg of Bradley; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Donald and Cindy Raiolo of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren; his mother, M. Francis VanSwol of Momence; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Betty VanSwol of Gibson City, and Allen and Deborah VanSwol of Momence.
Mr. VanSwol was a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence, International Harvester Collectors Central Ill. Chapter 10, and Teamster's Union Local 705.
He was a Lo-Boy truck driver for Triangle Construction for nine years and Loitz Bros. Construction for 22 years.
He enjoyed farming and collecting antique tractors.
