May Reilly

A funeral Mass for May Y. Reilly, 87, of Kankakee, was celebrated Jan. 16 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Revs. Charles Wheeler, Steven Reilly and Richard Jacklin officiated.
Mrs. Reilly died Jan. 10, 2003.
Burial was in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Donald and Francis LaGesse, Barry, Ron Jr. and Jon Reilly and Arnold LaFrance.
Andrew Andrews
BONFIELD -- Services for Andrew G. Andrews, 64, of Bonfield, were held Jan. 16 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. Leah Pogemiller officiated.
Mr. Andrews died Jan. 13, 2003.
Graveside services were held Jan. 17 in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery, Kankakee.

Gerald Ragain

WILMINGTON -- Gerald Ragain, 68, of Wilmington, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Morris Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kuzma Care Cottage are appreciated.
Mr. Ragain worked for R.W. Dunteman for 32 years as a superintendent, and then for Issert Construction for 10 years, retiring from the Local 150 union of operating engineers.
He was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Kankakee, the son of Miskel and Marge Ragain. His parents are deceased.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Margaret Klegman, of Wilmington; two daughters, Barb (Jeff) Lardi and Beverly (Conrad) Stanley, all of Wilmington; two sons, Joseph (Sheena) Ragain and Charles Ragain, all of Wilmington; two special nieces, Melissa and Vicki Klegman; nine grandchildren, Jeff and Tony Lardi, Etty and Beth Stanley, Matt, Jackie, Nicole, Maggie and Zachary Ragain; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Oswald Lardi; three brothers, Larry (Sharon) Ragain, Richard (Mary Ellen) Ragain and George (Doris) Ragain; one brother-in-law, Les Sorensen; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a Korean War veteran.

Lester Schroeder
carpenter

GILMAN -- Visitation for Lester E. Schroeder, 86, of Gilman, formerly of Crescent City and Hackensack, Minn., will be from noon Saturday until the 2 p.m. services at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gilman, where he was a member. Rev. Robert Downs will officiate.
Burial will be in the Danforth cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman is in charge of arrangements.
He died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Mr. Schroeder was a retired carpenter working out of Local 496 in Kankakee.
He was born June 25, 1916, in Danforth, the son of Henry A. and Lydia Hanson Schroeder.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gladys J. Classen, whom he married Sept. 3, 1938, in Danforth, of Gilman; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas G. and Ruth Schroeder, James A. and Marilyn Schroeder, Daniel J. and Cynthia Schroeder, all of Gilman, David L. and Marcia Schroeder of Ashkum; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Judith A. and Paul R. Bottorff of Cissna Park, Mary M. Beavins of Normal, Rebecca J. Schultz and Sarah and James Leonard, all of Gilman; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Dorothy Frerichs and one brother, Laverne Schroeder, are deceased.
He attended Gilman schools.
Mr. Schroeder was a member of the Masonic Lodge 442 in Watseka.
He enjoyed fishing.

Madelin Sullivan

Madelin L. Sullivan, 94, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, following a short illness.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she was a member.
Burial will be in St. James cemetery in Irwin.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Due to severe breathing difficulties, the family requests that visitors please wear no perfume or cologne.
She was born Dec. 14, 1908, in L'Erable, the daughter of John and Louise Neveau Dion. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, John Emmett Sullivan, whom she married Sept. 30, 1931, in Chebanse, died Aug. 4, 1976.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Constance Sullivan of Bourbonnais, Patricia and Raymond Berns of Herscher; two sisters, Bernadette Dion and Rozella Devine, both of Bourbonnais; five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Thomas Sullivan of Kankakee, Daniel Sullivan of Manteno, Eugene and Colette Sullivan of Kankakee, Eileen Stregal of North Carolina, Donald and MaryAnn O'Connor of Irwin and Grace Deno of Florida; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, Terrence Sullivan; two brothers, Herman and Raymond Dion; one sister, Cecilia Cheffer; one granddaughter, Christina Berns; and one great-grandson, Michael Weller, are deceased.
She enjoyed cooking, crafts and homemaking.

Andrew Tabor

MANTENO -- Andrew J. (Glowacz) Tabor, 84, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno, died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003).
Private burial will be held in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities, 672 S. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085.
Brown Funeral Home in Manteno is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tabor was a machinist at Continental Can Company.
He was born Jan. 12, 1919, the son of Joseph and Mary Tabor Glowacz.
His wife, Marie Nowicki, died in 1978.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Ginny Tabor, Raymond and Mila Tabor; two brothers, Eddie Glowacz and Walter Glowacz; and one grandchild.
One brother, Julius Glowacz, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Tabor was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church in Norridge and a member of the Polish Alliance.
He loved bowling.

Martin Ward

GOOSE LAKE -- Martin V. Ward, 61, of Goose Lake, died Saturday (Jan. 11, 2003) from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Mr. Ward was employed for 35 years with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Great Chicago, retiring in 1996.
He was born July 6, 1941, in Chicago, the son of John F. and Dorothy Morgan Ward.
Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia S. Standish, whom he married Feb. 19, 1977, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glendale Heights, of Goose Lake; one daughter, Tracy Ward of Glendale Heights; one son, Sean Ward of Sacramento, Calif.; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Ronald Jenkins of Galena; stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jill Stansell of Pleasant View, Tenn.; his mother, Dorothy-Ward Grasso of Elk Grove Village; three stepgrandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Art Spenner of Mt. Prospect, Linda and Charles Drake of Northlake; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ward was educated in Chicago schools and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was a member of the Morris Hospital Volunteer Transportation Unit.

Amanda Walthers

HERSCHER -- Services for Amanda Jo "Mandy" Walthers, 20, of Herscher, were held Jan. 10 at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel in Kankakee. Rev. Scott Paisley officiated.
Ms. Walthers died Jan. 6, 2003.
Burial was in the Bonfield cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennis, Nick and Tom Patchette and Mark, Terry and Glenn Scott. Honorary pallbearer was Melissa Menard.

Wilbur Morgeson

MILFORD -- Services for Wilbur R. Morgeson, 90, of Milford, were held Jan. 10 at the Milford Christian Church. Revs. Neil Larimore and Gary Milton officiated.
Mr. Morgeson died Jan. 7, 2003.
Burial was in Sugar Creek cemetery, Stockland. Pallbearers were Jerry, Bobby, D.J., Bill and David Morgeson and Gordon Weaver.

Laverne Anderson

ST. ANNE -- Services for Laverne L. Anderson, 83, of St. Anne, were held Jan. 10 at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home in St. Anne. Rev. Don Long officiated.
Mr. Anderson died Jan. 7, 2003.
Burial was in Skyline Memorial cemetery, Monee. Pallbearers were Thomas, Jamie and Scott Klonowski, Brett Korhonen, Mike McCann and Chad Whitesell.

Kenneth Buchanan
businessman, WWII vet

CRETE -- Kenneth W. Buchanan, 83, a lifelong resident of Crete, died Thursday (Jan. 9, 2003).
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at the Crete Funeral Home, 1182 Main St., and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at the Crete United Methodist Church, where he was a member and usher.
Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee.
Memorials may be made to the Crete United Methodist Church.
Mr. Buchanan was the former co-owner of Ken's Lawn and Leisure in Crete and was currently still working. He was a partner in the Crete School Bus Company and owned a Window and Awning Company in Chicago Heights. He worked many years at the Oldsmobile Garage in Chicago Heights.
He was born Aug. 13, 1919, the son of Alexander and Anna Polson Buchanan.
His wife, Dorothy Evelyn Buchanan, is deceased.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Lyle Bachert; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Thomas) Venutolo; one brother, Robert A. Buchanan; one sister-in-law, Bette Stogentin; and four nieces.
Two sisters, Fern and Lois Allbritton, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Buchanan was a member of the Crete Amvets Post.
He was past president of the Crete Lions Club serving in 1963 and 1964 .
He was formerly a midget race car driver and was an avid auto racing fan.
