Carolyn Morris
A memorial service for Carolyn E. Morris, 74, of Kankakee, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Rev. Gregor Gorsic will officiate.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Lax Mortuary in Kankakee is in charge of arrangements.
She died Saturday (Jan. 4, 2003) at her home.
Ms. Morris had operated a small store in Hopkins Park and also worked as a companion and caregiver.
She was born March 8, 1928, in Eufaula, Ala., the daughter of McLester and Madie Rhodes Morris.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Morris of South Bend, Ind., Wayne and Joanne Morris of Oak Park, David and Sarah Morris of Kankakee; six brothers and two sisters-in-law, Marion Morris and Richard Morris, both of Chicago, Marshall and Jane Morris of Honolulu, Hawaii, Phillip Morris and Norman Morris, both of Chicago, Joe and Hattie Morris of Pensacola, Fla.; four sisters, Ida B. Morris, Lily Mae Harvey, Mary Alice Smith and Ernestine Smith, all of Chicago; daughter-in-law, Gresdna Morris of Chicago; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
One daughter, Kay Morris; three brothers, Mack Morris, James Morris and Calvin Morris; and one sister, Catherine Morris, are deceased.
She had been a resident of the area for 35 years and of Kankakee for four years.
Ms. Morris was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Hopkins Park and most recently a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church.
She enjoyed reading non-fiction, solving crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
Alfred Rogers
MILFORD -- Visitation for Alfred W. Rogers, 80, of Milford, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford, and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at the Milford Christian Church. Revs. Neil Larimore and Gary Milton will officiate.
Burial will be in Sugar Creek cemetery, Stockland.
Memorials may be made to the family choice.
Mr. Rogers died Tuesday (Jan. 7, 2003) at his home.
He was born July 21, 1922, in Argo, the son of Henry and Birdie McClain Rogers.
Surviving are his wife, the former Janice R. Krueger, whom he married
July 9, 1963, in Chicago, of Milford; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Debbie and Ron Johnson, Dawn Mullen and Terri and Ronnie Woodby, all of Milford, Kim and Terry Longfellow of Hoopeston; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Dawn Haxton of Elkhorn, Wis.; eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
One brother; one sister; and one son, Charlie, are deceased
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
Robert Snelson
NIANTIC -- Robert Leroy Snelson, 67, of Niantic, and the father of a Momence resident, died Tuesday (Jan. 7, 2003) in Decatur.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Dawson and Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home in Decatur, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Niantic United Methodist Church Women's Group.
Mr. Snelson retired in 1995 from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after 35 years of service.
He was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Chicago, the son of James and Dorothy Smith Snelson. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Helen V. Bronson, whom he married
Jan. 13, 1960, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, James Richard Snelson and his fiancee, Cassandra McFall and Timothy and Michelle Snelson, all of Niantic; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Kelvin Anthony of Momence, Sherry and Stephen Rutherford of Buchanan, Mich.; one brother, Raymond Snelson of Sun City, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
One brother, Otto, is deceased.
Mr. Snelson was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
He was a member of the Niantic United Methodist Church.
Teresa VanAntwerp
PIPER CITY -- Visitation for Teresa Mardell VanAntwerp, 76, of Piper City, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with an 8 p.m. rosary service at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home in Piper City.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Piper City, where she was a member. Rev. John Balluff will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Piper City.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Piper City.
She died Tuesday (Jan. 7, 2003) at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. She was a resident of Mattoon Health Care for the past year.
Mrs. VanAntwerp was a teller at the State Bank of Piper City for 12 years, retiring in 1988.
She was born Oct. 24, 1926, the daughter of Grover Cleveland Aloysius and Sarah "Sadie" Fraher Stucker.
Her husband, Robert Phillip VanAntwerp, whom she married
April 2, 1951, in Cullom, died April 2, 2002.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Michael and Julie VanAntwerp of Mahomet, Steven Eugene VanAntwerp of Piper City, Raymond Marc and Heidi Van Antwerp of Loda; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marilyn Jane Boma of Gilman, Julia Marie and David Mabrey of Paxton; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ellen McCaughey of Cullom; and one brother and sister-in-law, James Perry and Joan Stucker of Palm Desert, Calif.
One sister, Sarah Jean Stucker; and one brother-in-law, Francis, are deceased.
She was a 1944 graduate of Cullom High School.
Mrs. VanAntwerp was a member of St. Peter Council of Catholic Women where she was past president and Woman of the Year. She also taught CCD classes.
She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and cooking.
Edith Beard
OLNEY -- Edith Beard, 84, of Olney, formerly of Bradley, died Friday (Jan. 3, 2003).
Services were held Jan. 7 at the Cunningham-Nichols Funeral Home in St. Francisville, Ill.
She was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Strawn, the daughter of William and Elsie Fitzgerald.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Judy Beard of St. Francisville; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Violet Fitzgerald of Bradley; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Hector Bozue

COAL CITY -- Hector C. Bozue, 87, oif Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Coal City and Lockport, died Dec. 28, 2002 in Tucson.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 6 at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport.
Burial was in Resurrection cemetery in Romeoville.
He was employed at Joliet Army Ammunition Plant and then in the Seneca Shipyards as an inspector until 1945. He then worked 31 years at the Texaco Refinery in Lockport, retiring in March of 1976.
Mr. Bozue and his wife owned and operated Bozue's Paint and Hobby Shop and the Lockport Family Raceway for 15 years. After retiring to Tucson in 1976, he was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP and a Realtor with Century 21 Realty.
He was born May 20, 1915 in Coal City.
He married
Helen Bella June 6, 1938.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles H. and Linda Bozue of Channahon, John J. and Dorothy Bozue of Lockport, William A. and Rebecca Bozue of Lemont; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rosalie A. and Richard Ward of Tucson, Mary H. Bossom of Alexandria, Va.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Muentnich and Lucille Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a leader of Cub Scout Pack 53 at St. Joseph's Church in Lockport.
Carl Krumwiede
ONARGA -- Services for Carl F. Krumwiede, 84, of Onarga, were held Jan. 6 at Onarga Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Donald Ehlers officiated.
Mr. Krumwiede died Jan. 3, 2003.
Burial was in Onarga cemetery. Pallbearers were Rolland Walwer, Erwin and Louis Krumwiede, Tim Fritchley, Wayne Ekhoff and Dale Seggebruch. Honorary pallbearers were Theresa and Tim Gartner, Laura Nelson, Kristina Carrie, Robert Teske and James Krumwiede.
Lawrence Hamilton
Services for Lawrence Hamilton, 96, of Kankakee, were held Jan. 3 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Richard Sagarsee officiated.
Mr. Hamilton died Jan. 1, 2003.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim Hamilton, Justin Nitz, Jerry Chantome, Myrl Billadeau, Jason and Diane Nitz.
Winston Hamilton
IROQUOIS -- Services for Winston Hamilton, 81, of Fullerton, Calif., formerly of Iroquois, were held Jan. 6 at Iroquois United Methodist Church in Iroquois. Rev. Karen Martin officiated.
Mr. Hamilton died Dec. 31, 2002.
Burial was in Prairie Dell cemetery in Iroquois. Pallbearers were Allan and Sonny Davis, Ron, Don and Ray Tebo, and James Disalvatore.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ilse Bernhard.

Marie Graham
CLIFTON -- Services for Marie D. Graham, 92, of Clifton, formerly of Metropolis, were held Jan. 3 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Rev. Terry Tackett officiated.
Mrs. Graham died Dec. 30, 2002.
Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery, Metropolis. Pallbearers were Bill, John, Charles, Robert, Mike and Jeremy Graham.
Zita Sweeney
CHEBANSE -- A funeral Mass for Zita J. Sweeney, 72, of Chebanse, was celebrated Jan. 6 at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Chebanse. Rev. Lee Bacchi officiated.
Mrs. Sweeney died Jan. 3, 2003.
Burial was in Sts. Mary and Joseph cemetery in Chebanse. Pallbearers were Nathan, Robert, Nick and Sean Sweeney, Scott Mortier, Amy Jo Mayer, Melissa Sweeney and Mike Reitz.
Robert Salm
Services for Robert Salm, 66, of Bourbonnais, were held Jan. 7 at Faith Reformed Church in Kankakee. Rev. Donald Barnes officiated.
Mr. Salm died Jan. 3, 2003.
