Carl Krumwiede

ONARGA -- Visitation for Carl F. Krumwiede, 84, of Onarga, will be from 3-7 p.m. today at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga, and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. service at Onarga Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Donald Ehlers will officiate.
Burial will be in Onarga cemetery, Onarga.
Memorials may be made to Onarga Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association.
Mr. Krumwiede died Friday (Jan. 3, 2003) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
He worked for Shell and Mobil Fuel Oil Distributory for 33 years.
He also was past president of Onarga Chamber of Commerce, and a former Onarga Township assessor.
Born Jan. 30, 1918 in Buckley, he was the son of Henry C. and Minna Sprehe Krumwiede.
Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Fritchley, whom he married
Feb. 6, 1946 in Buckley, of Onarga; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Terry Opell of Vincennes, Ind.; one brother, Fritz Krumwiede of Beardstown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Hilda and Louis Ekhoff of Milford, Rosa Weber of Gilman; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Nine brothers and five sisters, are deceased.
Mr. Krumwiede served with the U.S Army during World War II, and was a member of the Onarga American Legion and a life member of the Onarga VFW.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Onarga, and a past president of the church board.
He was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Ella Luecke
DECATUR -- Ella E. Luecke, 86, of Decatur, sister of a Cissna Park resident, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) at Fair Havens Christian Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. today until the 2 p.m. services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodworth.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Woodworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran School Association of Decatur, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Decatur, or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodworth.
Arrangements are by Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home, Decatur.
Mrs. Luecke was born April 1, 1916 in East Lynn, the daughter of Fredrick C. and Emma Weiland Jacob.
Her husband, Adelbert V. Luecke, whom she married
Dec. 14, 1947, died June 1, 2000.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roy A. and Kathy Luecke of Decatur, Dale J. Luecke of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Martha Ruetter of Cissna Park, Eunice Feller of Muscatine, Iowa; and three granddaughters, Erika and Jeff Guest of Chicago, Kathleen Luecke of Normal, and Anna Luecke of Decatur.
Six brothers; and two sisters, are deceased.
Mrs. Luecke was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Decatur, and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Woodworth.
She was a former member of Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion.
As we were blessed to know her as mother and grandmother during her life, so we are blessed in her death with the knowledge that her faith in Christ assures her heavenly reward.
J. Richard McLaughlin

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- J. Richard "Dick" McLaughlin, 87, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (Dec. 25, 2002) after a series of illnesses.
A memorial Mass was held Dec. 27, 2002 at Cure of Ars Church in Leawood, Kan.
He was born Jan. 27, 1915, in New Lenox, Ill.
Mr. McLaughlin worked for the Tractor Division of Ford Motor Co. for over 32 years.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Delia B. McLaughlin; one daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Garold Murphy of Montara, Calif.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Joanie McLaughlin of Kansas City, Mo., Dennis McLaughlin of Salmon, Idaho; and eight grandchildren.
One sister, Nina White, is deceased.
Mr. McLaughlin served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He enjoyed traveling and golf.
Dolores Renk
Dolores M. Renk, 70, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (Jan. 4, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Monday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, with a 7 p.m. wake service.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Mrs. Renk was born Sept. 28, 1932 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Helen Brostowski Rogala. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald R. Renk, whom she married
April 18, 1955 at St. John of God Church in Chicago, of Bourbonnais; one son, Ronald J. Renk of Chicago; one daughter, Deborah Renk of Oaklawn; and one brother, John Rogala of Bourbonnais.
Mrs. Renk was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance.
Robert Gray
Services for Robert E. Gray, 81, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Kankakee, were held Jan. 2 at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hank Roso officiated.
Mr. Gray died Dec. 28, 2002.
Burial, with military rites by the Kankakee American Legion Post 85, was in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard, Robert III, James and Krista Gray and Jason Newman.
Virginia Hartman
A funeral Mass for Virginia J. Hartman, 56, of Kankakee was celebrated Jan. 4 at St. George Catholic Church. Rev. Donald Wehnert officiated.
Ms. Hartman died Jan. 2, 2003.
Burial was in St. George cemetery. Pallbearers were Nick and Jeremy Blanchette, Joe and Ryan Longtin, Johnny English and Dave Cuchiara.

Robert Salm, 66, of Bourbonnais, died Friday (Jan. 3, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center Emergency Room.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. service at Faith Reformed Church in Kankakee. Rev. Donald Barnes will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Faith Reformed Church of Kankakee, where he was a charter member.
Mr. Salm was a self-employed milk distributor.
He was born Sept. 19, 1936 in Wichert, the son of Peter and Jacoba Sickma Salm. His parents are deceased.

Sept. 27, 1957 in Momence, of Bourbonnais; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kristy Salm of Riverwoods; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammy and Larry Carr of Frankfort, Lynda Corcoran of Bourbonnais, Debbie and Dave Sickley of Peru; five sisters, Wilma Salm of Centerville, Mass., Cornelia Mlodock of Oconomowoc, Wis., Nell Salm of Mashpee, Mass., Ida Salm of New York, N.Y., Carol Kenney of Carlsbad, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
Two brothers, Jacob and Barney Salm, are deceased.
He was a former deacon, and was treasurer of Faith Reformed Church in Kankakee.
He was past president of the Momence Antique Car Club and the Illinois Region Antique Car Club, past chairman of the Antique Car Show and Flea Market at the Momence Glad Festival, and chairman of the Illinois Regional Swap Meet.
Warren Segert
ST. JOHN, Ind. -- Warren A. "Spike" Segert, 65, of St. John, Ind., and brother of a Beecher resident, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at his home.
Services were held Dec. 31 at Zion United Church of Christ in Dyer, Ind. Rev. Doyll Andrews officiated.
Burial was in Zion United Church of Christ cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family or to Amvets Post 67 of Beecher.
Surviving are his mother, Marie, with whom he made his home; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Leilani Segert of Beecher; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Harold Hilbrich of Crown Point, Ind., Marilyn and Edward Lewis of Muncie, Ind., Lynelle and Peter Rimmel of Lowell, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
His father, Arnold Segert; and one brother, Marvin Segert, are deceased.
Mr. Segert served in the U.S. Army.
He was a 35-year member of the Beecher Amvets Post 67, serving as commander and vice-commander. He also served in several positions in the state and national veterans' organization.
He was a lifetime member of Zion United Church of Christ.
James Smith
DALLAS, Texas -- James E. Smith, 34, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Joliet and brother of Wilmington residents, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002).
Visitation and services were private. Rev. Kim Peterson officiated.
Private burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Wilmington.
Arrangements were by Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 31, 1967 in Joliet, the son of John and Phyllis Smith. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his mother, Phyllis of New Lenox; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Randy Clark of Mesquite, Texas, Julie and James Troutt of Wilmington; two brothers, Robert Smith of Wilmington, Edward Smith of Wills Point, Texas; and two nieces and nephews.
His grandparents are deceased.

Mrs. Sweeney was a member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Chebanse, a member of the CCW, a former Woman of the Year at the church, and a CCD teacher.
She was born April 12, 1930 in Gilman, the daughter of Nelson Jr. and Mary Kerns St. Peter. Her parents are deceased.

She was a room mother for Chebanse Elementary School, and enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and playing cards.
