Madolin Kietzman
MOMENCE -- Madolin Byron Kietzman, 96, of Momence, died Monday (Jan. 6, 2003) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Kankakee.
Arrangements are by the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Homes.
Cynthia Naese
Visitation for Cynthia Naese, 86, of Kankakee, will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hertz-Thoma Chapel in Kankakee, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Martin R. Gutzmer will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Naese died Monday (Jan. 6, 2003) at Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home.
She was born June 12, 1916 in Beecher, the daughter of William and Taltha Heck Becker.
Surviving are her husband, Floyd O. Naese, whom she married
April 20, 1937 in Peotone, of Kankakee; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Violet Naese of Stockton, LaRay and Pat Naese of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., John and Linda Naese of Aroma Park; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Richard White of Bank River, Mich., Myrna and Gerald Elton of Woodville, Wis., Peggy and Harry Pedigo of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Belle and George Miller of Peotone; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Ruth Becker of New York; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Naese, and Fay and Roy Payne; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Roselda Finnegan and Leora Young, are deceased.
Mrs. Naese worked at Aldens during the late 1960s and for Kirlin's during the early 1970s.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she volunteered and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Virginia Stoots
Virginia Ann Stoots, 52, of Bourbonnais, died Monday (Jan. 6, 2003) at Loyola University Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
Mrs. Stoots was employed by Shapiro Developmental Center.
Alan Lemon
Services for Alan Lemon, 74, of Kankakee, were held Dec. 28 at the Congregational United Church of Christ. Revs. Thomas Zimmerman and Clyde Lange officiated.
Mr. Lemon died Dec. 24, 2002.
Burial, with military rites by the Grant Park American Legion, was in Thawville cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Gainey, David Opperman, Randy Pech, Keith Dullard, Robert Hoevet and Mardele Engleking. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Millirons, Phil Kambic, Bill Salkeld and Deane Trumble.
Lester Miller
DONOVAN -- Services for Lester G. Miller, 91, of Port Washington, Wis., formerly of Donovan, were held Dec. 28 at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Kevin Nourie officiated.
Mr. Miller died Dec. 22, 2002.
Burial was in Prairie Dell cemetery in Iroquois. Pallbearers were K. Allen Miller, Richard and Jerry Hill, Jerry and Eddie Johnson, Arthur Geib and Mark Krueger.
Lenamae Cheesman
ASHKUM -- Services for Lenamae J. Cheesman, 85, of Ashkum, were held Dec. 28 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum. Rev. Jan Horne officiated.
Mrs. Cheesman died Dec. 26, 2002.
Burial was in the Ashkum cemetery. Pallbearers were Clyde Lauterbach, Ken Johnson, Ron Zachgo, Sam Sweeney, James Hack and Richard Schoolman.
Clarence West
Services for Clarence J. West, 92, of Kankakee, were held Dec. 30 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. Dennis Settles officiated.
Mr. West died Dec. 27, 2002.
Burial was in Limestone cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard West, Daryl, Brian and Dean Ferris and Jeff and Mike Helopoulos.
Ray White
A funeral Mass for Ray F. White, 69, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Dec. 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno. Rev. Edward Grotovsky officiated.
Mr. White died Dec. 24, 2002.
Burial was in Palos Oak Hill cemetery, Palos Park. Pallbearers were Vinnie Martell, Jay Kerkstra, Ray Lovell, Bob Kohl, Jeff Mulligan, Rich Huffman and Jim Wisniewski.
Gregory Gund
Services for Gregory L. Gund, 44, of Bradley, were held Dec. 27 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Rev. John Quinn officiated.
Mr. Gund died Dec. 23, 2002.
Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan, James and Jason Gund, Chris Chouinard, Dave Horrell, Andy Zerites, Phil Preston, Ron Gebo and Aaron Christensen.
Phyllis Hansen
Services for Phyllis P. Hansen, 83, of Kankakee, were held Dec. 31 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Hansen died Dec. 27, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob and Dick Book, Andrew, Christine and Stephen Hansen and Paul Wellons.
Arline Asbrand
PEOTONE -- Arline V. Asbrand, 83, of rural Peotone, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Peotone, where she was a member. Rev. Bruce Salter will officiate.
Burial will be in the Peotone cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Behrens, Dale and Roger Lattz and Calvin, Brian and Jerry Heisner.
Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
She was born Sept. 1, 1919, in rural Manhattan, the daughter of Adam and Alma Carstens Heisner.
Her husband, Christian Asbrand, whom she married
Feb. 15, 1942, in Peotone, died in 1990.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Nancy Asbrand, Warren and Beverly Asbrand, all of Peotone, Allen and Barbara Asbrand of Mokena; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Behrens of Peotone.
Two brothers, Kenneth and Harold Heisner; one sister, Eleanor Arnold, are deceased.
Mrs. Asbrand was a member of the afternoon fellowship of her church.
Earl Aslinger

ST. PETERS, Mo. -- Earl Hubert Aslinger, 88, of St. Peters, Mo., the father of a Bradley resident, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. Friday until the 10 a.m. services at the Harvester Church of the Nazarene.
Burial will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the Buchholz Mid-Rivers Mortuary, St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Aslinger was a journeyman plumber.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary Cleo Aslinger; one daughter, Christean Jeanette Nelson of Bradley; two sons, Hubert Stanley Aslinger and Ronald Earl Aslinger, both of St. Peters; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Carrol Geraldean Nelson, is deceased.
He was a charter member of the Harvester Church of the Nazarene.
Freeda Bjick

LOGANSPORT, Ind. -- Freeda M. Bjick, 84, of Logansport, Ind., formerly of Gilman, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Kroeger Funeral Home, 711 E. Market St., Logansport, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport. Rev. Marvin Hinkle will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Day School.
She was born March 17, 1918, in Gilman, the daughter of George C. and Lena L. Zumwalt Detrick.
Her husband, August H. Bjick, whom she married
June 14, 1942, in Gilman, died Aug. 6, 2001.
Surviving are one daughter, Joanne Kay Wingard of Grand Haven, Mich.; one son, David Bruce Bjick of Kokomo, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister and seven brothers are deceased.
Mrs. Bjick was a 51-year member of St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport. Through the years she had served as secretary of the Sunday School, on the Altar Guild Committee and was a member of the Mary-Martha Guild.
She was also a member of the Cass County Homemakers Extension Club, where she had served as president. She had been a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and had been involved in 4-H.
She enjoyed her flowers, gardening and quilting.
