Rickey L. Ward, 39, of Bradley, died Monday (Dec. 30, 2002) in a single car accident three miles west of Cabery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Edward Heck will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made for his children's education.
Mr. Ward was a carpenter for Peak Construction.
He was born Feb. 4, 1963 in Kankakee.
Surviving are one son, Logan Ward of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Darian Ward of Bourbonnais; his father, Robert and Sandy Ward of Bradley; his mother, Darlene Anderson and her companion, Vince Furlano of Cullom; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Trina and Jamie Rassmusen of Ashkum, Pam Anderson of Kankakee; one brother, Mike Anderson of Meridan, Miss.; his fiancee, Tammi Gross and her children, Ryan, Brandon and Lauren, all of Bradley; grandmother, Grace Ward of Bradley; several aunts, uncles and 11 nieces and nephews.
His grandfather, Clarence Ward; and grandparents, Lloyd and Lucille Ashline, are deceased.
Mr. Ward was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Kankakee.
He enjoyed mountain biking, running, karate and music, especially Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
Julia Garretson
STREATOR -- Julia L. Garretson, 85, of Streator, and the mother of area residents, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home in Streator, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Philip McGarvey will officiate.
Burial will be in Long Point cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glen Phillips, Matthew and Shawn Garretson, Brian Wonders, Brandon Phillips and Bob LeStarge.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice Program in Streator or to Riverside Medical Center Pediatric Medical Unit in Kankakee.
Mrs. Garretson retired in 1978 from Owen's Illinois Glass.
She was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Terra Haute, Ind., the daughter of William and Nellie Lilley Dunbar.
Her husband, Harold E. Garretson, whom she married
April 24, 1941, died Dec. 17, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Walter Phillips of St. Anne, Beth and Kevin Wonders of Stanford; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert Garretson of Lindstrom, Minn., William and Debbie Garretson of Bradley; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Lee Alderson of Castro Valley, Calif.; four grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and one sister are deceased.
She was a 1934 graduate of Streator High School.
Mrs. Garretson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Streator, the Christian Women's Association, the Missionary Society and the Ann Jetson Club.
She was a deaconess at her church and had taught Sunday School.
Winston Hamilton

IROQUOIS -- Visitation for Winston Hamilton, 81, of Fullerton, Calif., formerly of Iroquois, will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at Iroquois United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Rev. Karen Martin will officiate.
Burial will be in Prairie Dell cemetery, Iroquois.
Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka is in charge of arrangements.
He died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at the Buena Vista Care Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Mr. Hamilton was a retired security guard at R.R. Donnelley.
He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Iroquois, the son of Ray and Nellie Chaney Hamilton.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ilse Bernard, whom he married
March 5, 1954, in Frankfurt, Germany, of Fullerton; one son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Shellie Hamilton of Fullerton; one sister, LeNore Tebo of Donovan; and three granddaughters.
One brother and two sisters are deceased.
Mr. Hamilton was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Watseka and Donovan American Legion, the VFW of Sheldon and the Sons of the American Revolution.
Virginia Hartman

Visitation for Virginia J. Hartman, 56, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a 3:30 p.m. wake service at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. George Catholic Church, where she was a member. Rev. Donald Wehnert will officiate.
Burial will be in St. George cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
She died Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
Ms. Hartman was employed at Eagle Food Store and was a retired beautician who owned her own business.
She was born Feb. 4, 1946, in Kankakee, the daughter of Achille and Carmella Marnell Blanchette. Her mother is deceased.
She had been married
to Michael Hartman Sr.
Surviving are her father of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Mark Payton of Belleville; one son, Michael Hartman Jr. and his fiancee, Michele Noel of Onarga; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Joe Longtin of Bourbonnais, Nancy and Paul Bailey of Bradley; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Jean Blanchette of Limestone, Nick and Marie Blanchette of Bradley, Jim and Peggy Blanchette of Limestone; five grandchildren, Gavin and McKenna Payton, Brittany, Candace and Crystal Hartman; and three stepgrandchildren, Brendan, Marshall and Dylan Noel.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking and her many friends and co-workers.
Jeffrey Buhr
MILFORD -- Memorial services for Jeffrey Buhr, 31, of Martinsburg, W.Va., formerly of Milford, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church at Schwer, 1812 E. 1130N Rd. in Milford.
Burial will be in Arlington National cemetery Jan. 9.

Mr. Buhr died Dec. 26, 2002 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Katherine Hoekstra
ST. ANNE -- Services for Katherine J. Hoekstra, 87, of St. Anne, were held Jan. 2 at the First Reformed Church of Wichert. Rev. Gerald Norman officiated.
Mrs. Hoekstra died Dec. 28, 2002.
Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Wichert. Pallbearers were Steve, Tom, David and Lori Jo Hoekstra and Denise and Len Tully.
Patricia Baker
A funeral Mass for Patricia Ann Baker, 75, of Kankakee, was celebrated Jan. 2 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Rev. Charles Wheeler officiated.
Mrs. Baker died Dec. 30, 2002.
Burial was in the L'Erable cemetery. Pallbearers were Jason Licon, Gabriel and Joseph Baker, Jonathon Perry, Mike Miller and Jeremy Hodak. Honorary pallbearers were Patrick and Michael Baker.
Robert Gray
Services for Robert E. Gray, 81, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Kankakee, were held Jan. 2 at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hank Roso officiated.
Mr. Gray died Dec. 28, 2002.
Burial, with military rites by the Kankakee American Legion Post 85, was in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard, Robert III, James and Krista Gray and Jason Newman.
Beulah Keilty
Beulah Della Keilty, 87, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee, after an extended illness.
Private visitation and services will be held.
Burial will be in the St. Anne Catholic cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society.

Ms. Keilty had been a waitress at area restaurants for several years. During the war she had worked at the Joliet Arsenal.
She was born July 19, 1915, in Milford, Iowa, the daughter of Adolf and Louise Goyette.
Her first husband, Michael Angelo Agatone Sr., is deceased.
Surviving are one son, John Edward Agatone of Lee's Summit, Mo.; one daughter, Toni Granger of Manteno; one sister, Pearl Lafond of St. Anne; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One son, Michael Angelo Agatone Jr.; four brothers, Arthur, Glenn, Harold and Charles Goyette; and one sister, Opal Denoyer, are deceased.
She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She loved books and gardening.

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Ralph J. Koenigsman Sr., 69, of University Park, formerly of Steger and the relative of area residents, died Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2003) at his home.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the Steger Memorial Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Liborius Church.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Steger.
Mr. Koenigsman was employed at the Ford Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights.
Surviving are his wife, the former Arlene Plucienik; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Karen Koenigsman Jr. of Wheaton; three grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Orville Carrier of Steger, Florence and August Bock of Oak Lawn and Elaine and Stanley Kowalski of Chicago Heights.
One brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Lucille Koenigsman; and one sister and brother-in-law, Marie and James Matlock, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
