Raymond Fitzgerald
MANHATTAN -- Raymond P. "Red" Fitzgerald, 88, of Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, and a lifelong resident of Manhattan Township, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002).
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Forsythe Funeral Chapel, 320 Eastern Ave., Manhattan.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Manhattan, where he was a lifelong member.
Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church, Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home or Joliet Hospice.
He was born May 25, 1914, the son of James and Angela Mackin Fitzgerald.
His wife of 62 years, Eleanor (McLaughlin) Fitzgerald, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, Brother Kevin (Jerry) Fitzgerald FSC and Patrick R. Fitzgerald; two daughters, Judy Fitzgerald-Doland, Colleen Fitzgerald Daub; two grandchildren; one sister Mary (Fitzgerald) Carlos of Manhattan; one brother, Donald C. Fitzgerald of Coal City; and many nieces and nephews.
Five brothers, William, Robert, Harley, Richard and Leo Fitzgerald, are deceased.
He attended DeLaSalle High School, Joliet and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School.
Mr. Fitzgerald was a member for many years of the Mayslake Retreat League. In his retirement years he became a member and entrepreneur in the Manhattan area. He was a member of the Will County Farm Bureau.
Willie Fulton
Visitation for Willie Mae "Rabbit" Fulton, 76, of Kankakee, will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Jones Funeral Home, Kankakee.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. William H. Copeland Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
She died Saturday (Dec. 21, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Mrs. Fulton had worked at Domestic Linens.
She was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Columbus, Miss., the daughter of Albert and Lou Ellen Ball Short.
Surviving are her husband, Harris Fulton Sr. of Kankakee; one son, Harris Fulton Jr. of Kankakee; three daughters, Frankie and Curtis Jones, Vivian Williams, Vesta Fulton and Micheal Barrett, all of Kankakee; one sister, Katherine Baker of Kankakee; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Tom Dent; one sister, Geneva Dent; one grandson, Curtis Frank Jones; and two granddaughters, are deceased.
Gregory Gund

Gregory L. Gund, 44, of Bradley, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, after an extended illness.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mr. Gund was employed by Preston Roofing and was a member of Roofers Union Local 11. He had also worked as a plumber and carpenter.
He was born Dec. 4, 1958, in Kankakee, the son of Donald and Madonna Schafer Gund. His mother is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kelly Powers, whom he married
Aug. 9, 1991, in Kankakee; one son, Ryan Gund of Bradley; two daughters, Kasey McInis of Bradley, Madonna Harrison of Goreville; his father of Bradley; one sister, Debra Christensen of Denver, Iowa; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ronald and Ruby Gund of Bradley, Mark Gund of Houston, Texas; his mother-in-law, Pat Powers of Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Steven Gund, is deceased.
He was a graduate of Kankakee High School and attended St. Patrick's Church.
Mr. Gund was a former member of the Bradley Moose.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating, bowling and the outdoors.
Dorthea Gustafson
DWIGHT -- Dorthea K. Gustafson, 77, of Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Dwight, died Saturday (Dec. 21, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dwight. Rev. Stephen Lauricella will officiate.
Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery in Dwight.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 2919 Van Buren St., Hollywood, Fla. 33020.
Mrs. Gustafson was a retired hospital administrative assistant.
She was born March 4, 1925, in Dwight, the daughter of Kresten and Kristine Andrea Larsen Riber.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond Gustafson, whom she married
June 20, 1980, in Hollywood, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristine and Dennis Grove of San Diego, Calif., Laura and Ken Metzing of Jupiter, Fla.; one sister, Andrea Hansen of Green Bay, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Roger Gustafson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Paul and Patsy Riber, Alvetta Riber and Mary Riber; former husband, James Landon; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Harold Riber and Elmer Riber, are deceased.
Charles Hudson
Visitation for Charles Felix Hudson, 77, of Kankakee, will be from 8 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at Lax Mortuary in Kankakee.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
He died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Mr. Hudson was retired from Henkel Corporation.
He was born June 9, 1925, the son of Charles and Melzner Staleon Hudson.
Surviving are his wife, the former Letha Hart Malone, whom he married
Aug. 24, 1991; one son, Clayton Cortez Hudson; two stepsons, Raphel (Diana) Malone of Bourbonnais, Rexford (Gwen) Malone of Midland, Mich.; three stepdaughters, Veda Renee Griffin, Cherry (Willey) Marshall, Rhonda (Demetrius) Higginbottom, all of Kankakee; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Bernadine Hudson of Joliet; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Christopher and Mr. and Mrs Leroy Schweigert.
One son, Charles Stacy Hudson; one brother, David; one sister, Lillie, are deceased.
Mr. Hudson was a Jehovah's Witness.
He enjoyed fishing.
Vella McCoy

HOPKINS PARK -- Visitation for Vella McCoy, 67, of Hopkins Park, was from 11 a.m. today until the noon services at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Hopkins Park, where she was a member. Rev. Johnny Robinson officiated.
Burial was in the Momence cemetery, Ganeer Township.
Arrangements were by Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.
She died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Mrs. McCoy was a senior caretaker for Catholic Charities.
She was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Ford City, Ark., the daughter of Eleanor Ellis and Buddy Brick. Her parents are deceased.
Her first husband, James Ilion Sr., is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Albert McCoy, whom she married
Dec. 31, 1977, in St. Anne, of Hopkins Park; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ricky Ilion of Kankakee, James and Leza Ilion and Rodney Ilion, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Caroline Ilion and Pat and Lonnie Morrow, all of Milwaukee, Wis., Barbara and Danny Walker of Inglewood, Calif., Marion Ilion of Kankakee; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Genell and Elinor Ilion, are deceased.
She was a resident of the area for 50 years and a member of the Mother's Board and the Usher's Board at her church.

DWIGHT -- Kenneth Plants, 45, of the W.W. Fox Developmental Center, Dwight, died Saturday (Dec. 21, 2002) at OSF St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the 10 a.m. services at the Hager Memorial Home in Dwight. Rev. Stephen Lauricella will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
He was born Feb. 11, 1957, the son of Robert and Cora P. Dickerson Plants.
William Schneider
centenarian dies
William J. Schneider, 103, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (Dec. 24, 2002) at the Merkle-Knipprath Nursing Home in Clifton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Herscher. Revs. Ronald Hart and Charles Wheeler will officiate.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery in Herscher.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Schneider was a farmer and had worked at the Roper Corporation.
He was born Dec. 23, 1899, in Norton Township, the son of Joseph and Mary Walgenbach Schneider.
His wife, the former Irene LeCocq, whom he married
June 12, 1928, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Kankakee, died Oct. 17, 1997.
Surviving are six sons and five daughters-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Schneider of Lancaster, Texas, Lionell and Loretta Schneider of Clifton, Ronald Schneider of Buckingham, Jerome and Martha Schneider of Buckingham, Gerald and Linda Schneider of Herscher, Dennis and Janice Schneider of Bonfield; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Marilyn Schneider; and one brother, Edward Schneider, are deceased.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Mr. Schneider was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society at his church, the Newman Club, the Kankakee County Farm Bureau and a life member of the Kankakee Moose Lodge.
He had been a volunteer for the United Way of Kankakee.

Ray F. White, 69, of Bourbonnais, died Tuesday (Dec. 24, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital emergency room.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. wake service at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno.
Burial will be in the Palos Oak Hill cemetery, Palos Park.
Memorials may be made to the Exline Sportsman's Club or to the American Heart Association.
Mr. White was a retired Ironworker and a member of Ironworkers Union Locals 1 and 395.
He was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Blue Island, the son of Ray F. and Marie DuPont White. His parents are deceased.
His wife, the former Geraldine R. Orris, is deceased.
Surviving are one son, Guy M. White of Ottawa; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Richard Zureick of Oak Forest, Louise and Thomas Claffy of Lansing; six grandchildren, Michael Jungers, Victoria Jungers, Elizabeth Ray Treece, Elise White, Guy White and Elliot White; and special friend, Wilma Willard of Kankakee.

He was a member of St. George Catholic Church and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno.
He was a member of the Moose and the Exline Sportsman's Club.
Mr. White was a volunteer at Good Shepherd Manor, the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno and at the St. George homecoming.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He helped with the fish boils at Exline.
