Theodore J. "Ted" Patchett
Visitation for Theodore J. "Ted" Patchett, 55, of Kankakee, will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
He died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
Mr. Patchett was a former employee of the county and state highway department.
He was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Kankakee, the son of Leighton E. and Kathryn Lang Patchett. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are one sister, Sharon Woods of Libertyville; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leighton P. and Arline Patchett of Kankakee, Michael and Rebecca Patchett of Troy, Mich., Sondra Patchett of Kankakee; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, James and Gerald, are deceased.
He was a 1965 graduate of Kankakee High School.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf.
Roland Recher
Roland Recher, 84, of Bourbonnais, died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Private services will be held Friday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
Inurnment will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Skokie.
Memorials may be made to Riverside Medical Center.
Arrangements are by the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
Mr. Recher was the retired owner of D. Recher and Co. Liquors and Economy Liquors in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born Oct. 10, 1918, in Evanston, the son of Ernst and Regina Recher.
His first wife was the former Jane Ayers.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Margetisch Meyer; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roland and Judy Recher of Bailey, Colo., David and Camille Recher of Chandler, Ariz., James and Beth Recher of Palatine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Reg Fleming of Arlington Heights, Patricia and Dr. Joel Slutsky of Bourbonnais; one sister, Dorothy Brown of Minnesota; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Ralph Carl Sloan
WATSEKA -- Visitation for Ralph Carl Sloan, 92, of Watseka, formerly of Sheldon, will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes will officiate.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Sloan died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) at his home.
He was born March 5, 1910, in Long Point, the son of Neal and Lola Hanger Sloan.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mildred I. Cupp, whom he married
March 19, 1933, in Donovan, of Watseka; one sister, Hildath Lawrence of Manteno; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers are deceased.
He was a member of the Sheldon Church of Christ.
Edwin Balgeman

BUCKINGHAM -- Visitation for Edwin H. Balgeman, 80, of Buckingham, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herscher, where he was a member.
Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
He died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at the University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago.
Mr. Balgeman was self-employed as a farmer and had also worked for 32 years for Norton Township as an assessor.
He was born May 26, 1922, in rural Union Hill, the son of William and Clara Hines Balgeman.
Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia Koch, whom he married
Nov. 26, 1950, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Joliet, of Buckingham; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Gary Junk of Washington, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Shirley Braham of Joliet; and two grandchildren, Justin Junk and Melissa Junk, both of Washington, Ill.
One brother-in-law, Walter Braham, is deceased.
He was a graduate of Herscher High School.
Mr. Balgeman was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Herscher American Legion Post 795 and the Clifton VFW Post 2131.
He was a past board member of the Union Hill Farmers Elevator.
He enjoyed reading.

SOUTH WILMINGTON -- Visitation for Edward "Ed" Basham, 46, of South Wilmington, will be from 4 p.m. Thursday until the 8:30 p.m. services at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home, Braidwood Chapel. Rev. Jason Zobel will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
He died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Basham was previously employed as a machine operator with R.R. Donnelly and Sons in Dwight.
He was born April 25, 1956 in Joliet.
Surviving are his wife, the former Debra Wakeman, whom he married
Jan. 31, 1976, in South Wilmington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Ray Brackett of Coal City, Kellie and Dave Roberts of Braidwood; one son, Kyle Basham of South Wilmington; one grandson; his parents, Bobbie and Barbara (Swisher) Basham of Godley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Sherrie Basham of Braidwood, Gary and Lisa Basham of Braceville; one sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Rich Fromm of Godley; and six nieces.
His maternal grandparents, Roy and Regina Swisher; and paternal grandparents, Ishmel and Edna Basham, are deceased.
He was a 1974 graduate of Reed-Custer High School.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Dollie Cardwell
MOMENCE -- Visitation for Dollie Bell Cardwell, 85, of Momence, will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 10 a.m. services at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Kankakee. Rev. Willie Reed will officiate.
Burial will be in the Momence cemetery.
Arrangements are by Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.
She died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Mrs. Cardwell had worked for Dr. Armando Arocha and Dr. Norberto Ortiz and for the Campbell Soup Company in Chicago.
She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Richland, Ga., the daughter of Isom and Dovella Bobb Callaway.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. Henry Cardwell, whom she married
in 1972; two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine and Jimmie Jones of Chicago, Zelma Armstrong of Kankakee; two brothers, Jim Callaway and Alva Callaway, both of Richland, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Joy Armstong; special friends, Sandra Ortiz of Kankakee, Maria Arocha of Milwaukee, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several other relatives.
One son, Raymond Armstrong; three sisters; and three brothers, are deceased.
Mrs. Cardwell was a member of Greater Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church and was the former First Lady of Union Baptist Church. She served on the Mother Board, sang in the choir, worked on the culinary, beautification and benevolence committees and was a Sunday School teacher.
She enjoyed floral arranging, sewing, cooking, interior decorating, gardening and visiting the sick.
Joan Crotty
GILMAN -- Visitation for Joan T. Crotty, 50, of Gilman, will be from 10 a.m. Friday at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, until the 11 a.m. celebration of the memorial Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Gilman. Rev. John Balluff will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Gilman Mausoleum.

She died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka, after a sudden illness.
Ms. Crotty had worked at T&D; Metal, Red Door Restaurant, Sun Truck Stop and JB Communications.
She was born Nov. 5, 1952, in Chicago, the daughter of Thomas Roland and Helen B. Schofield Burgess. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are two daughters, Joanne Crotty of Peoria and Staff Sgt. Jacqueline Crotty of Fort Luke Air Force Base in Arizona; four grandchildren; and one brother, Frederick R. Burgess of Tucson, Ariz.
One sister, Lois Swinehart, is deceased.
She attended the Catholic church.
Dr. James Eiberger
PORTER BEACH, Ind. -- Dr. James A. Eiberger, 49, of Porter Beach, Ind., formerly of Bourbonnais, died suddenly Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) of an aortic aneurysm, in Chesapeake, Va., where he was attending a medical conference.
Arrangements are pending at the Peters Funeral Home, St. Paul, Neb.
There will be a memorial service held locally after the holidays.
Dr. Eiberger first came to the Kankakee area as a emergency room physician at Provena St. Mary's Hospital in 1982 and in 1984 went into family practice with offices in Bourbonnais and Gilman. He was on the staff at St. Mary's, Riverside Medical Center and Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. For the past 10 years, he worked as an emergency room physician in Northwest Indiana.
He was born June 8, 1953, in Grand Island, Neb., the son of Maurus J. and Dolores M. Greenwalt Eiberger.
Surviving are his parents of St. Paul, Neb.; his fiancee, Nancy Addison of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Dr. Paul Wolfe of Lincoln, Neb.; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Maury and Jeanine Eiberger of St. Paul, Neb., David Eiberger of Elyria, Neb., Ron Eiberger of Phoenix, Ariz. and John Eiberger of Omaha, Neb.; and nieces and nephews.
Dr. Eiberger was a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Creighton University Medical School. He served his residency in family practice at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where he was chief resident in 1982. He was boarded in both family practice and emergency room medicine.
He enjoyed computers, reading, photography, gardening, traveling and the outdoors.
He was a Husker fan.
