Visitation for Yvonne Muriel Gadberry, 79, of Kankakee, will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bonfield, where she was a member. Rev. John Kiefer will officiate.
Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery, Bonfield.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Bonfield.
She died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at her home.
Mrs. Gadberry had worked in the cafeteria at the telephone company and at Montgomery Ward.
She was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Kankakee, the daughter of Martin and Clara Geiger Voigts.
Her husband, Lee Gadberry, whom she married
Jan. 20, 1946, is deceased.
Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert Good of Kankakee; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dale Voigts of Bourbonnais, Jerald and Marilyn Voigts of Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister-in-law, Virgean Voigts; and one nephew, Kris Voigts, are deceased.
She was a Cubs fan.

DWIGHT -- Visitation for Ashley Gleeson, 5, and Joshua Glesson, 3, both of Dwight, formerly of Gardner, will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the United Methodist Church in Dwight. Revs. Brian Bill and William Leppin will officiate.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Pontiac.

Ashley was found dead Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) and Joshua was found dead Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) in the Des Plaines River near Interstate 55.
Ashley was born March 5, 1997, and Joshua was born June 23, 1999, both in Pontiac. They are the children of Edna "Sue" Smith of Dwight.
Surviving besides their mother are two sisters, Trisha Gleeson and Annie Gleeson, both of St. Anne; three brothers, Nathan Smith and Aaron Smith, both of Pontiac, Patrick Gleeson Jr. of Gardner; grandparents, J. Smith of Beardstown and Bonnie Hall of Pontiac; and one uncle and aunt, Russ and Lynn Smith.

Services for James "Jim" Post Green, 85, of Kankakee, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Victory Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. Deacon Joe Cotugno will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to the Boy Scouts of America.

He died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.
Mr. Green had worked in public relations and community service.
He was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Stanley, Wis., the son of Jesse Dawes and Arleva Cooper Green.

Green of Palos Hills; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sarah Green of Madison, Wis., Carrie and John Wick of Peotone; one sister, Mary Alice Davies of Stanley, Wis.; one brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Nancy Green of Seattle, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Green was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the founder of The Jumping Fireworks, a monthly newsletter for veterans of the USS 404 Spikefish.
He also was a historian.
Timothy Kadow
Visitation for Timothy R. "The Kid" Kadow, 46, of Kankakee, will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. Randy Kaswell will officiate.
Burial will be in the Aroma Park cemetery.

He died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Kadow was a laborer for a construction company.
He was born Oct. 2, 1956, in Kankakee, the son of Norman and Evangelyn Mead Kadow. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy Nickel, whom he married
Nov. 21, 1987, in Kankakee; one son, Norman Kadow of Kankakee; two daughters, Angie Kadow and Krystal Kadow, both of Kankakee; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Stephen and Barbara Kadow of Cissna Park, Randall and Pam Kadow, Keith and Chris Kadow, all of Bradley, Chester Kadow of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews.
One sister, Angela, is deceased.
Mr. Kadow was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Kankakee.
He enjoyed auto racing, camping and fishing.

NORMAL -- Helen M. Manzke, 81, of Normal, the sister of a Manhattan resident, died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. Thursday until the 2 p.m. services at the Skyline Memorial Park Chapel, Monee. Rev. Mark Hamner will officiate.
Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee.

Mrs. Manzke worked as a waitress at Schrage's in Orland Park and at The Beef Place in Bloomington. She was also a cashier at Jeffrey Allan in Bloomington.
She was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Tinley Park, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Barenz Roemer.
Surviving are her husband, Erwin Manzke, whom she married
Oct. 6, 1946, in Mokena; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald A. and Debbie Manzke of Camarillo, Calif.; one daughter, Carol Ann Manzke of Bloomington; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer Roemer of Manhattan.
Her stepmother, Martha Koloway Roemer; one brother; and one great-grandson, Ja'don Hosea, are deceased.

HOMER GLEN -- Arthur Novak, 70, of Homer Glen, formerly of Orland Park and a former implement dealer in the area, died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th St., Tinley Park. Rev. Paul O. Strand will officiate.

Mr. Novak was a dealer principal of Martin Implement Sales Inc. of Orland Park.
He was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Bernice Jacobs Novak. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen M. Schuldt, of Homer Glen; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Debbie Novak, Robert and Elizabeth Novak and Bruce Novak; five grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Maryann Novak; and one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Wayne Clayton.
Mr. Novak was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1952-1959.
He was past vice president of the Orland Park Chamber of Commerce.

PEOTONE -- Visitation for Vernette A. Pattengale, 87, of Peotone, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Church of Christ. Revs. Barbara Lohrbach and David Plant will officiate.
Burial will be in the Peotone cemetery.

Mrs. Pattengale died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at the Miller Center in Kankakee.
She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Peotone, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Stelling Ahlborn.
Her husband, Harold "Pat" Pattengale, whom she married
May 23, 1936, in Peotone, died in 1992.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kathy Pattengale of Barrington; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Richard Amsden of Ludlow; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; and one sister, Gail Slate of Sherman Oaks, Calif.
One brother, Orville Ahlborn; and one sister, Kathryn Spearman, are deceased.
Mrs. Pattengale was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Peotone, the Women's Fellowship, the Church Kitchen Band, Adult Bible Study, Adult Sunday School and the Church Choir. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors.

ASHKUM -- Esther M. Saathoff, 76, of Ashkum, died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at the Gilman Nursing Pavilion, after a short illness.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum, where she was a member. Rev. Jan Horne will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ashkum cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, Ashkum, or to the Gilman Nursing Pavilion.
Mrs. Saathoff was a dietician at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth for 20 years and a waitress for many years in area restaurants.
She was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Ashkum, the daughter of John Sr. and Anna E. Peters Lauterbach.
Her husband, Elmer O. Saathoff Sr., whom she married
June 23, 1945, in Ashkum, died Feb. 5, 2002.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Elmer Saathoff Jr. of Kankakee, Glenn and Alice Saathoff of Ashkum; two daughters, Shirley Roach of Ashkum, June Saathoff of Roberts; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mardell and Art Anderson of Florissant, Mo., Trudie and Bill Reed of Ferguson, Mo.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbur and Carol Lauterbach, Clyde and Marilyn Lauterbach, all of Ashkum; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, John and Edward; and one sister, Hazel, are deceased.
Mrs. Saathoff was a member of the Ashkum Legion Auxiliary and the Town and Country Club.
She loved to play bingo and enjoyed flowers.
