HOPKINS PARK -- Visitation for Ethel Anderson, 62, of Hopkins Park, will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Leggett Funeral Home in Hopkins Park, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Hopewell Baptist Church, 2308 W. Harrison, Chicago. Rev. Ivan Phillips will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Park cemetery, Calumet Park.
Mrs. Anderson died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
She was born Nov. 1, 1940, in Robinsonville, Miss., the daughter of George Nicks and Lillie B. Young. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Anderson of St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann and Joe Smith of Richton Park, Tracy and Anthony Mason of St. Paul, Minn., Neicy Anderson of Kankakee; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Gregory and Darlene Nix and Anthony Anderson, all of Chicago, Micheal Anderson of Memphis, Tenn., Dwayne Anderson of Chicago; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Willie Walker and Ella Mae Hill, all of Chicago; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert Young of Chicago, Jeremiah and Lilly Young of Maywood, Wesley Young of Tunica, Miss., Ray Lee Young of Hopkins Park; special friend, Avell Wandick of Hopkins Park; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One grandchild is deceased.
She was a member of Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church in St. Anne.
Imogene Louise Barker
CRAB ORCHARD -- Imogene Louise Barker, 65, of Crab Orchard, and a former area resident died Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2002) at Fountains Nursing Home in Marion.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion. Rev. Arthur Joplin will officiate.
Graveside service and burial will follow in Shed Church cemetery, south of Crab Orchard.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed in care of the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959.
Mrs. Barker was a bank teller at the First National Bank in Wilmington several years ago.
She was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Joliet, the daughter of Charles and Lena (Jackson) McCawley. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, George Lavern Barker, whom she married
Sept. 6, 1958, at the Braceville Methodist Church, died Aug. 29, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jolene Marie and Kevin Svoboda of Crab Orchard, Danell Lynn and Vern Lemasters of Marion; one son, George Charles Barker of Crab Orchard; two grandchildren and one great grandson; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Nerina McCawley of Braidwood; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Eleanor Barker of Essex; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Deceased are one daughter, Mardean Louise Barker, who died in 1963 and one granddaughter, Shayla Marie Svoboda, who died in 1988.
She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Marion and LeRoy A. Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Marion.
She enjoyed her flower garden and spent many happy hours feeding and watching the birds in her yard.
Walter England
WWII vet
Walter Pleasant England, 78, of Bourbonnais, died Thursday (Dec. 19, 2002) at Olympia Fields Hospital.
Private services are pending at the Sheets Funeral Home in Lowell, Ind.
Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery, Roselawn, Ind.
Mr. England retired in 1986 from the Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights.
He was born April 18, 1924 in Sparta, Tenn.
His wife, the former Anne Mae Thompson, whom he married
June 15, 1946, in Rossville, Ga., died Nov. 8, 1987.
Surviving are three daughters, Annette Pawloski of Bourbonnais, Deborah Way of Crawfordsville, Ark., Melissa Andrade of Kankakee; three sons, Charles "Richard" England of Wheatfield, Ind., Walter "Russell" England of DeMotte, Ind., John Ross England of Lake Station, Ind.; five sisters, all of Sparta, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Dr. Katherine Burke and Bob Bertrand.
One daughter, Sandra Parquette; one grandson, Richard "Ricky" Lee England; two brothers and two sisters, are deceased.
Mr. England was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
He was a New York Yankees fan and enjoyed reading and telling jokes.
Elsie Gall
MOMENCE -- Visitation for Elsie M. Gall, 87, of Momence, will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. wake service at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Momence, where she was a member. Rev. Vernon Arseneau will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Momence.

She died Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2002) at Manor Care Nursing Center in Kankakee.
Mrs. Gall had worked for Erickson Textile in Momence.
She was born June 29, 1915, in Kankakee, the daughter of Charles E. and Florence Chacy Hendricks.
Her husband, Paul Gall, whom she married
June 30, 1934, in Kankakee, died Oct. 23, 1992.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Judy Gall of Momence; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sylvia and Dean Graves of Ashflat, Ark., Judy and Norm Guenette of Kankakee, Toni Loftus of Fountain Valley, Calif., Patricia and Dale Alliss of Douglas, Wyo.; one son-in-law, William G. and Janet Muehler of Bourbonnais; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Hendricks and Phyllis Bisping, both of Kankakee, Patricia Gall of Spokane, Wash.; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Three brothers; two sisters; and one daughter, Beverly Muehler, are deceased.
Mrs. Gall attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Visitation for Gene Griswold Sr., 60, of Bradley, will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Don Long will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the County Line Crematory in Chebanse.

Mr. Griswold owned Gene's Auto Body. He was an auto body man and painter for over 40 years.
He was born Feb. 20, 1942, in Altorf Township, the son of Harley and Della Kadow Griswold. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gene "JR" Jr. and Lisa Griswold of Bradley; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Ron Cresong of Maumee, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon "Red" and Carolyn Griswold of Bourbonnais, Jay and Dorothy Griswold of Kankakee; five grandchildren, Garrett, Gary and Gage Griswold and Chase and Shane Cresong; special friends, Charlie Arbor Sr., Patty Hazzard and her children; and many other special friends.
Two sisters, Maxine Brouillette and Sonja Davis, are deceased.
Mr. Griswold was a member of the AMA and one of the founders and president of the "Just Us Motorcycle Club."
He loved motorcycles and motorcycle races.
Deborah Hammond
Deborah Hammond, 44, of Bradley, died Thursday (Dec. 19, 2002) at her home, after a battle with a long illness.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Saturday until the 6 p.m. services at the Salvation Army, 148 N. Harrison Ave., Kankakee. Majors Kevin and Christie S. VanZee will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Debbie's girls in care of the Salvation Army.
She was born March 15, 1958, in Melrose Park, the daughter of Stanford and Evelyn Huff Hammond.
Surviving are three daughters, Cassandra, Jennifer and Diane, all of Bradley; companion, Brad Smithyman of Bradley; one sister, Connie Blair of Kankakee; two nieces, Donna Blanton and Tammy Blair, both of Bradley; four great-nieces, Connie Blanton, Deborah Todd, Jasmyn Smith and Sabrina Blair; one nephew, Donnie Blair of Indiana; four great-nephews, Trenton, Trey and Garrett Blair and Daniel Todd; and close friends, Stacie Blair, Katie Ideran and Pat Smith.
Deceased are one son, Larry Micheal; one brother, Larry Hammond; and one nephew, Frankie Ferrell.

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Donald "Gene" Mowrey, 60, of Watseka, will be from noon Sunday until the 1 p.m. services at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Pastor Lee Fuchs will officiate.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Watseka.

He died Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2002) at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.
Mr. Mowrey was meat manager at the Quality Grocery Store in Watseka for over 30 years.
He was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Watseka, the son of Donald V. and Maxine Biddle Mowrey. His father is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, Janice "Jan" Mowrey, whom he married
March 9, 1958, in Watseka; one son, Wayne Mowrey of Watseka; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lois Mowrey of Crown Point, Ind.; mother and stepfather, Maxine and Bill Hoover of Watseka; half-brother, William Hoover Jr. of Watseka; two half-sisters, Sherry Mowrey and Donna Sue Jones, both of Florida; two stepbrothers, Kenny Milljour and Ted Shepard, both of Florida; one stepsister, Shirley Taylor of L'Erable; special friends, Kenny Kingdon of Watseka, Greg and Karen Cverko of Brookfield, Wis., Charles and Bonnie Arie of Watseka; and his dog, Taffy.
Mr. Mowrey was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Watseka.
He was also a member of the Shewami Country Club and a past member of the Watseka Elks.
He enjoyed golf, traveling, skydiving, scuba diving, flying and walking.

JOLIET -- John A. St. Ange Jr., 87, of Joliet, relative of a Coal City resident, died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Services were held Dec. 18 at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home in Joliet. Rev. Robert C. Carroll officiated.
Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Joliet.
Mr. St. Ange was a Realtor for many years with Honig Realty. After retiring from real estate, he worked for WJOL.
His wife, the former Marjorie Jenco, died in 1991.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William and Georgia St. Ange of Stephensport, Ky.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Roberta Irvin and Patricia and Ebert Carroll, all of Joliet; one daughter-in-law, Rose St. Ange of Coal City; dear friend, Ellen Fox of Aurora; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One son, John "Jake" A. St. Ange III; his parents, John and Blanche St. Ange; two granddaughters, Elisabeth St. Ange and Ellen Margaret Irvin, are deceased.
