COAL CITY -- Jacquelyn J. "Jackie" Born, 75, of Coal City, died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at the Walnut Grove Senior Health Care Center in Morris.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at the United Methodist Church in Coal City. Rev. Bob Snider will officiate.
Burial will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at the United Methodist Church in Coal City.
Mrs. Born worked as a bookkeeper for many years at her father's soft drink business, Allen Bottling Co. in Joliet and Braceville. In later years she managed Montgomery Ward catalog sales in Coal City.
She was born May 27, 1927, in Braceville, the daughter of Charles B. and Nota Giaudrone Allen.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Born, whom she married
May 27, 1950, in Braceville, of Coal City; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Alan Born of Ohio, Robert and Paula Born of Coal City; one daughter, Carol Born of Colorado; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert B. Allen of Joliet; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was a 1945 graduate of Gardner-South Wilmington High School.
Mrs. Born was an active member and dual financial secretary of the Coal City United Methodist Church for many years. She was voted the church's "Woman of the Year" in 1998.
Belle Brauman
PIPER CITY -- Visitation for Belle A. Brauman, 94, of Piper City, will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home in Piper City, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. services at the United Methodist Church in Piper City. Rev. Randall L. Robinson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Brenton cemetery, Piper City.
Memorials may be made to the Gibson Area Hospital Foundation or to the United Methodist Church, Piper City, where she was a member.
She died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at the Greenbrier Health Care Center, Piper City.
She was born Aug. 8, 1908, in Southern Illinois, the daughter of Rev. Francis and Leonra White Fink. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Carl W. Brauman, whom she married
June 30, 1925, in Kankakee, died Sept. 10, 1975.
Surviving are one daughter, Camilla Harford of Piper City; one son-in-law, Stuart Briggs of Bradenton, Fla.; two granddaughters, Jill and Mark Arends of Gibson City, Holly and Steve Rorem of Port Orange, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Darrin Peters, Leslie Arends, Austin Rorem and Dieter Iten.
One daughter, Mavoureen Briggs; one grandson, Scott C. Iten; four brothers and one sister, are deceased.
Mrs. Brauman was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 217, Watseka, and past worthy Mmtron of the Piper City chapter. She was also a member of various card clubs.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts.
Yvonne Gadberry
Yvonne Muriel Gadberry, 79, of Kankakee, died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at her home.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bonfield, where she was a member. Rev. John Kiefer will officiate.
Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran cemetery, Bonfield.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Bonfield.
Mrs. Gadberry had worked in the cafeteria at the telephone company and at Montgomery Wards.
She was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Kankakee, the daughter of Martin and Clara Geiger William.
Her husband, Lee Gadberry, whom she married
Jan. 20, 1946, is deceased.
Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert Good of Kankakee; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dale Voigts of Bourbonnais, Jerald and Marilyn Voigts of Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister-in-law, Virgene Voigts; and one nephew, Kris Voigts, are deceased.
She was a Cubs fan.
Beverly Greenan
MAZON -- Beverly Sue Greenan, 66, of Mazon, died Monday (Dec. 16, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital, Peoria.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reeves Funeral Home, Coal City, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Charles Richardson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nate Paulsen, Jim Bean, Alan and Adam Greenan, Mike Perino and Raymond Wiseman. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Rodriguez, Shawn Swain and Alan Corning.
Memorials may be made to her family.
Mrs. Greenan was employed for over 10 years at the Indian Creek Campground.
She was born June 20, 1936, in Wilmington, the daughter of Harry and Irene Logan Wiseman. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, James Greenan, died in 1985.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Keith and Sandie Greenan of Marseilles and Christopher Greenan of Mazon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and Pete Paulsen of Morris, Cricket and Doug Bean of Mazon; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sondra and David Swain of Florida and Colleen Peterson of Plainfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Pat Wiseman of Indiana; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one aunt; one uncle; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, Michael; and one brother, Harry "Bunky" Wiseman, are deceased.
She was a 1954 graduate of Coal City High School.
She enjoyed playing bingo.
Marlene Keip
ROCKFORD -- Visitation for Marlene Keip, 68, of Rockford, formerly of Cullom, will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Fitzgerald & Associates Funeral Home Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. in Rockford, with a 7:45 p.m. rosary service; and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Entombment will be at Calvary Catholic cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the family so that they may be donated to Marlene's favorite charities and organizations.
She died Saturday (Dec. 14, 2002) at P.A. Peterson in Rockford.
Mrs. Keip was born May 13, 1934 in Cullom, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel Algoe Hahn. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, James L. Keip, whom she married
June 12, 1954 in Cullom, died July 5, 1995.
Surviving are her children, Cynthia and Joseph Avendano, Thomas and Nikki Keip, and John and Cathy Keip, all of Rockford, James J. and Doreen Keip of Roscoe, and Patricia and Patrick Pearse of Loves Park; 10 grandchildren, Timothy, Aaron, Troy, Adam, Andrew, Keegan, Karah, Sean, Bridget and Tiffany; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Tjaden.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Keip was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a former singer with the Bonnie Bells.
She was active with Holy Family events but her main hobby was her family.
Vialta Kelson

MOMENCE -- Visitation for Vialta "Vi" Kelson, 91, of Momence, will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the Momence Funeral Chapel.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Momence. Rev. Jim Ruberg will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Momence Honor Guard or to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Mrs. Kelson was a secretary for Whole Grain Wheat in Momence and for Doyle Packing. She retired as plant manager at Carter Wallace after more than 35 years of service.
She died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
She was born June 28, 1911, in Clifton, Cecil and Clara Bell Nickerson Reid.
Her husband, Andrew P. Kelson, whom she married
Aug. 6, 1938, at the First United Methodist Church in Momence, died Oct. 5, 1987.
Surviving are two sisters, Melba Wilken of Chicago, Phyllis Hatch of Momence; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Geneva Reid of Waterman, Richard and Norma Reid of LaGrange; and many nieces and nephews.
One brother, Robert Reid, is deceased.
Mrs. Kelson was named 1996 Momence Citizen of the Year. She was a past secretary for Home Extension; and a past Gladiolus Festival Board member, where she was secretary for 20 years and board treasurer. She helped organize the festival's Kid's Parade since it began.
She was a volunteer at Riverside Medical Center.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Momence, where she was secretary for the Women's Society and the church board secretary for over 30 years. She was also involved with the Martha's Circle and Suzanna Circle at the church.
William Kirk

CHATSWORTH -- William Matthew Kirk, 78, of Chatsworth, died Friday (Dec. 13, 2002) at his residence. There will be no visitation.
Private graveside services will be held in Mount Hope cemetery, Cabery.
Arrangements are by Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Cullom.
He had been employed at Kroehler's in Bradley for more than 30 years as an upholstery foreman.
Mr. Kirk was born May 21, 1924 in Cabery, the son of Matthew C. and Ethel Trussler Kirk.
Surviving are one son, William Lee Kirk of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Fay Ann and Charles Winslow, Carrie Sue McCure, all of Chatsworth; six grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jeanette and Gerald Wright of Bradley, Naomi Gash of Bourbonnais; and one brother, Charles "Buddy" Kirk of California.
One son, Francis Randolph Kirk; one brother, Virgil Kirk; and three sisters, Wanda Kirk, Eula Vaughn and Violet Thompson, are deceased.
Mr. Kirk attended the Cabery schools.
He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict.
He was raised in the Catholic church.
He was a former member of the AFL-CIO Upholsterers Union.
Elna Sparenberg
GILMAN -- Visitation for Elna Merle Sparenberg, 90, of Gilman, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Danforth, where she was a member. Rev. James Gerth will officiate.
Burial will be in the Danforth cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Sparenberg died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at the Iroquois Resident's Home in Watseka, after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Gilman, the daughter of John and Florence Cotter Shule.
Her husband, Robert John Sparenberg, whom she married
Oct. 7, 1931, in Danforth, died June 11, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Lorenz ZumMallen of Crescent City, Carol and Jim Albrecht of Danforth; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Betty Sparenberg of Fowler, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Shule of Martinton; and three sisters, Bernadine Steele of LaGrange, Delores Cox of Bourbonnais and Betty Gunther of Ashmore.
Two brothers, Art Shule and his twin, who died in infancy; one granddaughter, Laura Lynn ZumMallen; one son-in-law, Lowell Muller; and stepmothers, Bertha Weber and Mattie Schacht, are deceased.
She was educated at the Shule School in rural Danforth.
Mrs. Sparenberg was a member of the Jolly Neighbors Club.
She enjoyed bingo, crocheting and cards.
