Joseph Bottondo

MANTENO -- Joseph L. "Red" Bottondo, 81, of Manteno, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
Brown Funeral Home, Manteno, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bottondo was retired from Local 150 Operating Engineers.
He was born Oct. 9, 1921 in Chicago.
His wife, the former Virginia B. Durgan, whom he married Sept. 11, 1982, of Manteno, survives.
Mr. Bottondo was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of the Catholic faith.

Gwendoline Coyle

WATSEKA -- A memorial service for Gwendoline E. Coyle, 80, of Watseka, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Schwer. Rev. Mel Meyer will officiate.
Burial was in Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Memorials may be made to Watseka Health Care Alzheimer's Unit or to the donor's choice.
Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Coyle died Oct. 26, 2002 at Watseka Health Care Center.

Dr. Warren E. Greenwold
former Cissna Park doctor

CISSNA PARK -- Dr. Warren Eldon Greenwold, 79, of Champaign, formerly of Cissna Park, died Nov. 30 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 4 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Champaign, where he was a member. Rev. Anthony Trosley officiated.
Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery, Urbana.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Carle Foundation Hospital.
Dr. Greenwold practiced medicine in Cissna Park from 1949 to 1952. He was a pediatrician at Carle Foundation Hospital 1953-88 before retiring.
He was born March 11, 1923, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Leona Clare Alexander Greenwold.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy O'Neil, whom he married Sept. 28, 1946, in Chicago; one son, Charles Greenwold of Monticello; two daughters, Marcia Greenwold of San Carlos, Calif., Gail Swartzendruber of Coralville, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
One son and one brother are deceased. He received his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Chicago in 1944 and 1946. He completed an internship at Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago in 1947.
He was a pediatric fellow at Mayo Clinic from 1953 to 1956, earning his master's degree in pathology from the University of Minnesota during that time.
He was past president of the Carle Foundation, served on the regional board for the Children's Home and Aid Society and was a member of the American Medical Association, American Diabetes Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing and hunting.

LaVerna Perkinson

ONARGA -- Services for LaVerna A. Dubbel Perkinson, 87, of Onarga, were held Dec. 7 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gilman. Revs. Robert Downs and James Small officiated.
Mrs. Perkinson died Dec. 3, 2002.
Burial was in the Onarga cemetery. Pallbearers were Cary, Aaron, Terry, G. Alan and Jerry Perkinson and Curtis Ahlden.

Opal Weidert

WATSEKA -- Services for Opal E. Weidert, 87, of Watseka, were held Dec. 7 at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka. Joe Hughes officiated.
Mrs. Weidert died Dec. 3, 2002.
Burial was in GAR cemetery, Watseka. Pallbearers were John Tonner, Louis Sunderland, Gene Baird, Glendon Langellier, Rick Busch and Tom Dionne.

Ralph Boggs

Services for Ralph Boggs, 70, of Bourbonnais, were held Dec. 10 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. John Marvin officiated.
Mr. Boggs died Dec. 5, 2002.
Burial was in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald McGinnis, Lance Richey, Andrew Johnson, Leo Whitten, Marvin Gereaux and John Henderson.

Merle Merrill

Services for Merle R. Merrill, 67, of Herscher, were held Dec. 10 at the Herscher United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Watkins officiated.
Mr. Merrill died Dec. 7, 2002.
Burial was in Pilot Township cemetery, Herscher. Pallbearers were Mike Applebee, Bob Pelehowski, Gene Reardanz, Chuck Kemmer, Ron Shelby and Randy Edwards.

Virginia Grafe

DANFORTH -- Services for Virginia Marie Grafe, 91, of Danforth, formerly of Sunman, Ind., were held Dec. 10 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Crescent City. Rev. Wilbur McCasky officiated.
Mrs. Grafe died Dec. 6, 2002.
Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Sunman, Ind. Pallbearers were Kenneth and Jeffrey Tuttle, Timothy and Luther Grafe, Ronald Merkel and David Fikejs.

Paul Stamm

PAXTON -- Services for Paul L. Stamm, 88, of Paxton, and the sister of area residents, were held Dec. 10 at the First Lutheran Church in Paxton. Revs. Sally Meyer and Barbara Busboom officiated.
Mr. Stamm died Dec. 6, 2002.
Burial was in Germanville cemetery, Chatsworth. Pallbearers were Bryan Hethke, Michael and Neal Erwin, Gregory Stamm, Paul Bushur, Matthew Bronner, Paul Godbold, Robert Morgan, Kevin Webb and Scott and Michael Kellerhals. Honorary pallbearer was Sid Dilks.

Alice Lockard

MANTENO -- Alice M. Lockard, 81, of Manteno, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2002) in the emergency room at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Cremation rites were accorded.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Manteno.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Manteno Mission Program.
She was born July 19, 1921, in Trieste, Italy, the daughter of Vincenzo and Silva Schmith Stermin.
Her husbands, Jim Elliot and Archie Lockard, are deceased.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Lenard Halderman of Forest, Va.; three grandchildren, Joe Veres, Tammy Veres Rogers and Michael Veres; three great-grandchildren; and special friend, Bob Vilkonis of Manteno.
One daughter, Arlene M. Nystrom; two brothers, Lou Stermin and Ed Stermin; and two sisters, Norma Milam and Syl Booth, are deceased.

Vernette Ryan
healthcare provider

Visitation for Vernette M. Ryan, 74, of Bourbonnais, will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church. Rev. John Linnan will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Burial will be held at a later date in the St. George cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Momence Meadows Nursing Home.
Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, is in charge of arrangements.
She died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Mrs. Ryan was a home healthcare provider.
She was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Kankakee, the daughter of Leo and Agnes Lambert Granger.
Her husband of 18 years, Charles Richard Ryan, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Terry Ryan of Bourbonnais; four daughters and one son-in-law, Colette Ryan of Bourbonnais, Vanessa and John Absher of Bradley, Julia Walsh and Patricia Ryan, both of Bourbonnais; one sister, Rena Rehmer of Livingston, Mont.; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
One brother, Richard Granger, is deceased.
Mrs. Ryan was a member of Maternity BVM Catholic Church.
She enjoyed her friends, family and playing bridge.

Doris Sieffert

MILFORD -- Doris I. Sieffert, 68, of Milford, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Sheldon, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Rev. Debby White will officiate.
Burial will be in the Sheldon cemetery.
She was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Chicago, the daughter of James C. and Daisy Boulton White.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Sieffert, whom she married Nov. 27, 1998, in Sheldon, of Milford; six daughters, Roberta L. Hollister of Milford, D. Frances Miller of Sheldon, Sandra L. Turner of Barboursville, Va., Joan E. Kish of Sheldon, Sonia J. Portrey of Dawson, Neb., Sabrina J. Mull of Milford; one son, Steve J. Cox Jr. of Sheldon; one brother, Earl M. White of Palos Hills; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Mrs. Sieffert was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Hoopeston and enjoyed playing bingo.
